Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
The fastest way to host a Stone Technology Ultimate server is to rent a Minecraft host that offers the pack as a pre-installed option. Self-hosting with the CurseForge client gives you more control but requires you to manage Java, networking, backups, updates and troubleshooting. Stone Technology Ultimate targets Minecraft 1.18.2; allocate about 6 GB of server RAM as a practical starting point, then increase it for a larger or public server. Published guidance ranges from 4 GB minimum to 7 GB or more, so verify the current pack listing before purchasing hardware or a plan.
What Stone Technology Ultimate is
Stone Technology Ultimate is a modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2. A captured pack description lists approximately 230 mods, although that count should be treated as approximate because the attribution and current listing were not verified. The pack’s many technology and content mods make it substantially heavier than an unmodded Minecraft server.

Keep the exact Minecraft and modpack versions aligned. Every player should install the same Stone Technology Ultimate release that the server runs. A client on a different release can fail to connect, report missing mods, or create registry and world-data errors.
Some optimisation additions, including Rubidium and Suit in the captured listing, have been reported to cause problems with this pack. If a working installation becomes unstable after adding or removing optimisation mods, restore the original pack profile rather than changing several mods at once.

Choose between renting and self-hosting
There are two sensible hosting models. A managed host is simpler because the provider supplies the machine, network connection, control panel and basic maintenance. Self-hosting is appropriate when you already have a reliable computer and internet connection and want complete access to files and settings.
| Factor | Managed Minecraft host | Self-hosted computer |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | Select Stone Technology Ultimate in the provider’s installer and start the server. | Install the CurseForge client and pack, configure the server files, then start and expose it to players. |
| Hardware and network | Included in the hosting plan; capacity depends on the plan and provider. | You supply CPU, RAM, storage, power, uptime and a sufficiently fast connection. |
| Control | Good access through a panel, but some files and Java settings may be restricted. | Full control over files, Java arguments, backups, mods and operating-system settings. |
| Maintenance | The host maintains the node and panel; you still manage pack versions, permissions and backups. | You are responsible for operating-system updates, Java, firewall rules, backups and recovery. |
| Best fit | First-time administrators, small groups and anyone who wants the server online quickly. | Experienced administrators who need custom automation or already own suitable hardware. |
How much RAM does the server need?
Use the figures as planning ranges rather than guarantees. The CurseForge listing captured for this guide states that 4 or 6 GB is needed. BisectHosting recommends 6 GB for Stone Technology Ultimate. Minecraft-hosting.pro gives 4 GB as a minimum and notes that public servers may require more. StickyPiston suggests 7 GB or more when hosting for friends or the public.

| Use case | Planning allocation | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Small private test | 4 GB | A minimum starting point cited by the listing and a hosting guide; leave headroom for the operating system and monitor for pauses. |
| Typical private group | 6 GB | The practical baseline recommended by a major host and within the listing’s 4/6 GB guidance. |
| Friends with exploration or several simultaneous players | 7 GB or more | Matches StickyPiston’s guidance for friends or public hosting; actual demand depends on player count, loaded chunks and automation. |
| Public server | Start above 6 GB and measure | There is no universal number. Increase memory when logs show out-of-memory errors, frequent garbage-collection pauses or persistent tick delays. |
Do not allocate every megabyte in the machine to Java. On a self-hosted system, reserve memory for the operating system, file cache, panel and backup tools. On a rental plan, confirm whether the advertised amount is dedicated memory and whether the plan permits changing the Java maximum heap.
CPU, storage and connection considerations
- Use a modern multi-core CPU with strong single-thread performance; Minecraft’s main tick loop can become the bottleneck before all cores are busy.
- Install the server on SSD storage. Modded startup and world generation perform poorly on a heavily loaded mechanical disk.
- Keep free disk space for world growth, logs, crash reports and at least one local backup. A full disk can stop chunk saves even when RAM is sufficient.
- For a home server, use wired Ethernet where possible and configure the router and firewall deliberately. A stable connection matters more than a high peak download speed.
Route 1: rent a pre-configured server
Renting is the lowest-effort route because the provider has already packaged the files and startup process. The labels differ by panel, but the workflow is similar: choose a Minecraft server, select Stone Technology Ultimate, wait for installation, then start the instance.

BisectHosting setup
- Order a Minecraft server plan with at least the pack’s practical 6 GB starting allocation.
- In the server selector or game installer, choose Stone Technology Ultimate rather than a similarly named pack.
- Allow the panel to download and install the pack. Do not interrupt the process while libraries and configuration files are being unpacked.
- Start the server from the panel and watch the console for a completed startup message.
- Copy the address and port shown by the panel, then give those details to players after they have installed the matching pack release.
If the selector does not show the pack, check the panel’s modpack or version list instead of installing a different Stone Technology entry. The 1.16.5 pack described by some provider pages is not Stone Technology Ultimate.
ScalaCube setup
- Open the ScalaCube control panel and go to Game servers.
- Choose Add Game Server.
- Select Stone Technology Ultimate from the modpack list and confirm the installation.
- Wait for the files and server configuration to finish deploying before pressing Start.
- Use the connection address displayed by the panel. If the panel offers a choice of pack version, select the same release that your players installed.
ScalaCube also has a Stone Technology page describing a different 1.16.5 pack with an 8 GB figure. Do not use that page’s memory number for Stone Technology Ultimate.
Minecraft-hosting.pro setup
- Create the server with Stone Technology Ultimate selected in the provider’s installer.
- Wait for installation to complete; the provider notes that initialisation can take several minutes.
- Click the Start arrow after installation has finished.
- Keep the console open until the server reports that it is ready. Starting the process again while it is still initialising can create confusing logs or duplicate tasks.
- Send players the final address and port from the panel, not an address copied before the server finished provisioning.
The provider cites 4 GB as a minimum and says public servers may need more. For a group server, choose a plan with room above that minimum.

What to configure after installation
- Set a strong panel password and enable multi-factor authentication if the provider supports it.
- Review
server.propertiesfor difficulty, player limit, view distance and whitelist settings before inviting players. - Turn on the whitelist for a private server and add players by their exact Minecraft usernames.
- Schedule automatic backups if the panel provides them, and periodically download a copy that is independent of the host account.
- Record the installed modpack version and any configuration changes so a rollback is possible.
Route 2: self-host with CurseForge
Self-hosting is more flexible but requires more administration. The machine running the server needs the pack files, enough memory, Java compatible with the pack’s Minecraft version, and a network path that players can reach.
Install the pack
- Install the CurseForge client on the computer that will run the server.
- Use the client to locate and install Stone Technology Ultimate. Confirm that the profile is for Minecraft 1.18.2.
- Open the installed profile and use its server-install or server-files option if available. Keep the server files in a dedicated folder rather than mixing them with another modpack.
- Read the generated instructions and accept any required Minecraft or mod-loader agreement before the first launch.
- Start the server using the supplied launcher script or command. On first launch, expect several minutes while libraries, configs and the initial world are created.
Exact filenames can differ between pack releases, so use the launcher script generated for your installed release rather than copying a command intended for another version. Keep the terminal or service log visible during the first run; it will show missing Java components, permissions failures and rejected configuration values.
Expose the server safely
- Give the server computer a stable local-network address, preferably through a DHCP reservation in the router.
- Allow the Java server process through the operating system firewall on the Minecraft server port.
- If players connect from outside your home, forward that port from the router to the server’s local address. Only forward the port you actually use.
- Test locally first, then test from a different network such as a phone hotspot. A local test does not prove that internet players can reach the server.
- Use the whitelist and operator permissions. Do not grant operator status to every player merely to solve a permissions problem.
Port forwarding exposes a service to the internet. Keep the operating system and Java runtime patched, use a non-administrator operating-system account for the server where practical, and review logs for repeated connection attempts.

Run it as a service
For a computer that must stay online, run the server through a service manager or a supervised terminal session so it can restart after a crash or reboot. Configure the service to stop cleanly before backups; copying a world while chunks are being written can produce an unusable save. Never use automatic restarts as a substitute for investigating crash logs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Every player must install the same pack
A modded server does not normally send the complete modpack to a new player. Each player needs the Stone Technology Ultimate profile installed through the CurseForge client on their own computer.
- Install the CurseForge client.
- Install Stone Technology Ultimate and select the exact Minecraft and pack release used by the server.
- Launch the profile once in single-player to allow its files and configs to finish generating.
- Close the game, then launch the profile again and enter the server address.
Players should not add Rubidium, Suit or other optimisation mods unless the server administrator has tested that exact combination. A client-only change can still cause crashes or mismatched registries. If a player receives a missing-mod or channel error, compare the profile’s mod list and version with the server before changing network settings.

Migrating an existing world
You can move an existing save instead of generating a new world, but a migration should be treated as a backup-and-rollback operation. A StickyPiston guide describes dragging and dropping a world save through the World Manager in a Multicraft panel. That procedure applies to hosts using Multicraft; other panels may use a file manager, SFTP or a different import workflow.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Stop the destination server completely.
- Make a dated backup of the destination world and a separate backup of the source world.
- Confirm that the source world was created with a compatible Minecraft and modpack version.
- Upload the save through the host’s documented method, preserving the folder structure and the world folder name.
- Select the imported world in the panel or set the corresponding level name, then start the server.
- Join as an administrator and inspect spawn, dimensions, machines and inventories before inviting everyone back.
Do not downgrade a world casually. Modded worlds can contain blocks and data that an older release cannot interpret. If the migration fails, stop the server, restore the backup and identify the version or mod difference from the logs.
Troubleshooting checklist
The server stops during startup
- Read the first error and its stack trace, not only the final “server stopped” line.
- Verify that the server files are for Minecraft 1.18.2 and Stone Technology Ultimate, not a 1.16.5 Stone Technology pack.
- Check Java compatibility required by the installed loader and confirm that the service points to that Java executable.
- Remove only a mod or configuration change that you added; do not replace several files at once.
- Increase the memory allocation if the log reports an out-of-memory condition, while leaving headroom for the operating system.
Players cannot connect
- Confirm that the server process has reached its ready state and is listening on the expected port.
- Check the address, port, firewall rule and router forwarding destination.
- Compare the player’s modpack release with the server’s release and remove untested client additions.
- Check the whitelist spelling and whether the player is using the correct Minecraft account.
The server lags or pauses
- Watch memory use and garbage-collection messages rather than assuming the internet connection is at fault.
- Reduce view or simulation distance for a heavily populated world and avoid generating unexplored terrain with many players simultaneously.
- Move the world to SSD storage and close unrelated workloads on a self-hosted machine.
- Profile before changing optimisation mods; the pack listing specifically warns that some such mods can cause problems.
Version and maintenance rules
The captured StickyPiston guidance refers to pack version 1.5.1 and is roughly two years old. The current Stone Technology Ultimate release as of 14 October 2026 was not verified here, so check the live CurseForge listing immediately before installation. Treat a pack update as a maintenance event: back up the world, record the old version, test the update on a copy, and only then update the production server and all clients.
Keep a simple administrator record containing the pack version, Java version, server address, RAM allocation, whitelist, operator list, backup dates and any added configuration. That information turns a future crash or migration into a recoverable procedure rather than guesswork.
Which route should you use?
- Choose a managed host if you want the shortest setup, do not want to configure port forwarding, or need a server online for a small group quickly.
- Choose self-hosting if you already have an always-on computer, understand firewall and backup administration, and need unrestricted access to files and automation.
- Start with 6 GB for a typical private group, move toward 7 GB or more as player count and world activity grow, and treat 4 GB as a minimum experiment rather than a performance promise.
The Bottom Line
For most players, rent a pre-configured Stone Technology Ultimate server, select the 1.18.2 pack, allocate about 6 GB of RAM, and have every player install the identical CurseForge profile. Self-host only when you need full control and are prepared to manage networking, updates and backups.
