Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor most common Google Pixel problems, start with a restart and available Android and app updates. Then troubleshoot the specific symptom using reversible steps before resetting settings or erasing the phone. The steps below cover battery drain, charging and power, overheating, Wi-Fi, and screen faults; menu names and diagnostic tools can vary by Pixel model, region, and Android version.
Start with safe troubleshooting
- Restart the phone. A restart can clear a temporary software problem.
- Install available updates. Check Android system updates and update apps from the Play Store. Google’s general Pixel troubleshooting guidance recommends these steps before more disruptive fixes.
- Use Safe Mode to check for an app problem. Safe Mode temporarily disables downloaded apps. If the symptom stops, remove recently installed apps one at a time, restarting and checking after each removal. For connectivity tests, Safe Mode turns Airplane mode on automatically, so turn Airplane mode off before testing Wi-Fi or calls.
- Save resets for later. Resetting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings removes saved networks and Bluetooth pairings. A factory reset erases the phone’s data, so back up anything important before considering it.
Pixel battery drains too quickly
Check which apps are using power at Settings > Battery > Battery usage. Update apps and Android, and leave Adaptive Battery and battery optimization enabled. An unusually high drain shortly after a software update may settle over a few days; after a new setup or factory reset, battery optimization can take a few weeks to take full effect, according to Google’s battery guidance.
If the drain remains unusual after those periods and basic checks, contact Google support rather than assuming the battery needs replacement.
Pixel won’t charge or turn on
Rule out the simplest causes first: try a different outlet, inspect the cable and adapter, and remove the case if it could interfere with the connection. Google’s charging and power-on troubleshooting says its recommended adapter options for the best battery experience and charging speeds are a Google 30 W USB-C adapter or another PPS adapter rated at 30 W or more, or a USB Power Delivery adapter rated at 15 W or more. Actual charging speeds vary by phone; a new adapter is not necessary if your current one works appropriately.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For wireless charging
- Remove the case and magnetic accessories, then center the phone on the charging pad.
- If it still does not charge, test with a cable. Google recommends a Qi2-certified charger for reliable wireless charging.
If charging stops near the same level
Charging optimization may be limiting the charge. Temporarily turn it off to test whether that changes the behavior, then restore your preferred setting.
If the phone appears dead or the display stays blank
When no battery icon appears after connecting power, try restarting the phone. If the screen remains blank, call the phone from another device: if it rings but the display stays dark, Google advises contacting an authorized repair center. Do not try a manual Fastboot reset casually; reset procedures can erase data.

Pixel phone is too hot
A Pixel can become warm during video calls, camera recording, streaming, navigation, data transfers, setup, or demanding use while charging. Reduce activity, lower screen brightness, and move it out of direct sunlight or an enclosed space. If the phone is too hot, disconnect it from power, move it somewhere cooler, and do not use it until it has cooled.
Google notes that thermal protection can limit performance, charging speed, camera use, or connectivity, or put the phone into low-power mode. Repeated thermal shutdowns are a reason to contact support. See Google’s overheating guidance.

Pixel Wi-Fi won’t connect
- Forget and reconnect to the network. Open the saved network’s settings, choose the option to forget it, then connect again and enter its password.
- Check whether an app is interfering. Test Wi-Fi in Safe Mode. If it works there, a downloaded app is a likely cause. Remember to turn Airplane mode off in Safe Mode before testing.
- Check time settings. Make sure automatic date and time are enabled.
- Check the network itself. For a router and modem you own, restart them and check their cables. On public Wi-Fi, look for a sign-in page and accept any required terms.
- Reset network settings only if needed. Resetting Bluetooth & Wi-Fi settings also removes saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings.
Google’s Wi-Fi troubleshooting steps include these checks. If Wi-Fi still fails in Safe Mode, the network or internet connection may be the cause rather than a downloaded app.
Pixel screen flickers, shows lines, or stays black
For flickering, a green tint, or horizontal or vertical lines, install available system updates first. Cracks and dead pixels are physical display problems that need repair; a reset should not be treated as a fix for physical damage. Google’s screen troubleshooting guidance covers display symptoms.

When to stop troubleshooting
- Contact an authorized repair center for a cracked screen, dead pixels, or a phone that rings while its display remains blank.
- Contact support if the phone repeatedly shuts down because of heat or battery drain remains unusually high after basic checks and time for post-update or post-setup behavior to settle.
- Before any factory reset, make a backup: the reset erases data. For symptoms outside battery, charging, heat, Wi-Fi, and display faults, use Google’s instructions for that specific issue rather than applying these steps indiscriminately.
