SAROS: Zenith launched on October 19, 2026 as a free update for every SAROS owner. On PS5, highlight SAROS on the home screen, press the Options button, select Check for Update, and approve the download. You can also let the console download and install it automatically while in rest mode.
What the SAROS: Zenith update is
Zenith is a content update for SAROS, not a separate PS5 application. Once the patch is installed, its modes, modifiers, secrets, trophies and accessibility settings appear within your existing SAROS installation.
PlayStation Blog identifies October 19, 2026 as the release date and says the update is available to all SAROS owners at no additional charge. The update applies to the PS5 version; the official SAROS page states that the game is not available on PS4.

- A PS5 with SAROS installed.
- An active internet connection for the console.
- Enough free console storage for the patch. Sony has not published a universal Zenith download-size figure, so the space required can vary with the build and installation state.
- Your SAROS entitlement on the PlayStation account being used on the console.
You do not need to purchase Zenith separately. The update is tied to ownership of SAROS rather than to a separate store listing.

Install Zenith manually from the PS5 home screen
Manual checking is the quickest way to request the update immediately.
- Turn on the PS5 and connect it to the internet.
- On the home screen, highlight the SAROS game tile. Do not launch it yet.
- Press the Options button on the DualSense controller.
- Select Check for Update.
- If a Zenith update is offered, accept the download and installation prompts.
- Wait for the download and installation to finish before starting SAROS.
PlayStation says that starting a game also checks for the newest available version. If the manual check does not present an update, close any running version of SAROS, relaunch the game, and allow the automatic check to complete.
Set up automatic downloading and rest-mode installation
Rest mode is useful when you want the PS5 to handle the update without leaving SAROS open on screen. Two settings control the process: the console must remain connected to the internet, and automatic update behavior must be enabled.
Keep the PS5 online in rest mode
- Open Settings from the PS5 home screen.
- Go to System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode.
- Turn on Stay Connected to the Internet.
Enable automatic update behavior
- Return to Settings.
- Open Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates.
- Enable Auto-Download.
- Enable Auto-Install in Rest Mode if you want the console to install eligible updates while resting.
Auto-Download and Auto-Install are not identical. With only Auto-Download enabled, the PS5 can fetch the files but may still ask for confirmation when SAROS resumes. Enabling Auto-Install in Rest Mode allows installation to proceed during rest mode when the console has the required connection and power state.

After changing these settings, put the PS5 into rest mode rather than fully powering it off. The console needs to stay connected for the automatic process to work.

What to do if Zenith is not showing up in SAROS
Zenith does not need to appear as a second game tile. Confirm that the SAROS application itself has received the update, then launch SAROS and look for the new content inside the game.
No update appears after selecting Check for Update
- Confirm that SAROS is installed on the PS5 and that the console reports an active internet connection.
- Run Check for Update again from the SAROS tile.
- Close SAROS completely if it is open, then start it again. PlayStation says launching a game checks for the newest available version.
- If the console still reports that SAROS is current, the update may already be installed even though no new download prompt appears.
The download does not begin
- Check the PS5 network connection and retry the manual check.
- Verify that the console has free storage. Sony has not stated a universal Zenith file size, so do not rely on an online number that claims to apply to every installation.
- Use rest-mode settings only after confirming Stay Connected to the Internet, Auto-Download or Auto-Install in Rest Mode is enabled as appropriate.
The update downloaded but did not install in rest mode
- Open Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode and confirm Stay Connected to the Internet.
- Open Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates.
- Make sure Auto-Install in Rest Mode is enabled, not just Auto-Download.
- Resume the PS5, start SAROS, and let the game perform its update check.
The update is installed but new modes are missing
Exit and relaunch SAROS after installation. Zenith content is delivered through the updated SAROS application, so a game session that was already running before the patch may need to be closed before the new menus and options appear.

A successful installation is indicated by SAROS launching normally after the update process and presenting the Zenith additions in its game menus. Check for:

If SAROS still opens without these additions, close the game, run Check for Update from the home screen, and relaunch it after the console confirms the current version.
What Zenith adds to gameplay
Overlord Rush
Overlord Rush is a boss-rush mode designed around repeated boss encounters. It includes integrated leaderboards, allowing players to compare scores with friends from within the mode.
Eclipse Layers
Eclipse Layers adds a New Game+ option for players returning to SAROS after completing or progressing through the original experience.

Carcosan modifiers
Carcosan modifiers introduce additional variation to runs. The official announcement confirms the modifiers but does not define a single fixed modifier set or universal difficulty adjustment, so the exact combination depends on the game content available in your installed version.

Secrets and trophies
The update adds secrets to discover and new trophies to pursue. These are part of the SAROS update rather than separate downloadable products.
Accessibility options
Zenith adds high-contrast visuals, DualSense gyro aiming and a toggleable Slow Game Speed setting. High-contrast presentation can make important visual elements easier to distinguish; gyro aiming provides motion-based control; and Slow Game Speed lets players reduce the pace when they need more time for reactions. The options are selectable in the game’s accessibility settings after the update is installed.

Yes. Sony Interactive Entertainment and PlayStation Blog describe Zenith as a no-additional-charge update for all SAROS owners. Saros: Zenith Design Lead Abebe Tinari wrote on October 19, 2026: “Starting today (October 19) the Saros: Zenith update is available to all Saros owners for no additional charge.”

SAROS editions, price and platform availability
Sony Interactive Entertainment listed the SAROS PS5 launch for April 30, 2026, with these launch manufacturer suggested retail prices:

Digital and physical availability can vary by region; a universal physical-release list has not been established. The official SAROS page identifies PS5 as the supported platform and excludes PS4.
Download size and installation time
PlayStation, Housemarque and Sony Interactive Entertainment have not published a universal Zenith download-size or installation-time figure in the official materials associated with the update. The amount of data and time shown by your PS5 can therefore differ according to the installed SAROS build, storage performance and network conditions. Treat any third-party number as a report for a particular setup, not a guaranteed requirement.

- SAROS is installed on the PS5.
- The PS5 is connected to the internet.
- You ran Options > Check for Update on the SAROS tile, or enabled automatic updating.
- Stay Connected to the Internet is on for rest-mode updating.
- Auto-Download or Auto-Install in Rest Mode is enabled according to the behavior you want.
- You relaunched SAROS after the update completed.
- Overlord Rush, Eclipse Layers, the modifiers, secrets, trophies and accessibility options are now available in the game.
Housemarque’s launch notice summed up the release plainly: “Go download the latest update now, and start battling against the bosses in Overlord Rush, comparing your scores against your friends on our new leaderboards.”
