This Itechguide teaches you how to clear search history on Instagram. The guide covers steps to clear search history on Instagram from a PC, Android or iPhone.
Option 1: Clear Search History from Android
- Open Instagram App on your phone. Then, sign in with your Instagram account.
- When the App opens, at the bottom right of the App, tap your profile icon.
- Then tap the 3 lines on the top right of your profile. A list of options will be displayed.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the displayed options and tap Settings (literally at the bottom of the screen!).
- Then, when the Settings page opens, scroll down and tap Security.
- Scroll down to Data and history section of the Security page and tap Search history.
- Finally, to clear search history on Instagram, on the top right of Search history page, tap Clear All.
Option 2: Clear Search History from iPhone
- Open the Instagram App on your iPhone. Then, login with your Instagram account (skip this step if you previously signed in).
- At the bottom right of the App, tap your profile icon.
- When your Instagram profile opens, on the top right of your profile, tap the 3 lines. A list of options will be displayed.
- Right on top of the displayed options, tap Settings.
- When the Settings page opens, locate and tap Security.
- Then, at the Security page, scroll down and tap Clear search history (located in the Data and history section)
- Finally, to clear search history, on the top right of Recent search history, tap Clear All.
Option 3: Clear Search History from a PC
- Open Instagram.com from your PC. Then, sign in with your Instagram account.
- On the top right of the page, click the icon that looks like a human. Your Instagram profile will open.
- Beside Edit Profile, click the Settings icon (looks like a gear). A list of items will be displayed in a pop up window.
- Then, somewhere at the middle of the displayed options, click Privacy and Security.
- When the Privacy and Security page opens, scroll down to Account Data section and click View Account Data link.
- Then, on the Account Activity section, below Search history, click View all link.
- Finally, to clear search history, on the Search history page, click Clear Search History.
Clearing your Instagram search history is not permanent. Even though you clear your search history, items may reappear in the list if you search for them again.
