The quickest way to see people receiving your ongoing location is Find My → People. That list is not a complete inventory of every location-related feature on your iPhone, however. A one-time pin in Messages, a shared Maps ETA, and a Check In use different controls.
For a broader privacy review, use Settings → Privacy & Security → Safety Check. The steps below cover both checks and show how to stop sharing with one person or everyone.
Check ongoing location sharing in Find My
- Open the Find My app.
- Tap People at the bottom.
- Select a person from the list.
- Review the sharing details. To remove that person, scroll down and tap Stop Sharing My Location.
Everyone listed under Find My → People is someone with whom you have an ongoing person-to-person location share through Find My. Stopping the share does not notify the person.

Use Safety Check to find other sharing arrangements
Find My’s People list should not be treated as a complete list of every person who might receive location-related information. Safety Check can review sharing with people and apps, including Find My location sharing, Maps ETA sharing, and Check In.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap Safety Check.
- Use the review and management options to inspect which people and apps have access to shared information.
Safety Check requires iOS 16 or later. If you need to stop sharing immediately rather than examine each item, choose Emergency Reset. This immediately stops sharing information with people and apps. You will need to start sharing again in the relevant app or service later.
Check location sharing with family members
Family Sharing has its own location controls:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Family.
- Tap Location Sharing.
This screen shows family members for whom location sharing is enabled. Look for Automatically Share Location as well. When enabled, it can automatically share your location with new family members added later.
This setting can be especially important if a family member appears to gain access unexpectedly. Children and teens whose accounts have Screen Time restrictions may not be able to change their own location-sharing settings.
Check Messages for location shares
Messages can contain either a live, ongoing location share or a one-time location snapshot. To inspect a conversation:
- Open Messages.
- Open the conversation with the person or group.
- Tap the contact or group icon or name at the top.
- Look for Stop Sharing or Stop Sharing My Location.
If that control appears, you can use it to stop the ongoing share. Stopping an ongoing person share in Messages also stops that share across Apple apps, including Find My.
In a group conversation, every member of the group may be able to see a location shared with the group. Check the conversation’s details rather than assuming the location went only to the person who started the chat.

A pinned location is not live sharing
A location sent with Messages → Plus button → Location → Map Pin button → Send Pin is a one-time snapshot. It does not update as you move and will not normally appear as an ongoing person share in Find My → People.
Check Maps ETA sharing
Maps can share your live location while you are navigating and can also share the stops along your route. This is separate from an ordinary Find My person share.
- Open Maps.
- Tap Sharing with… at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap a person’s name to review the ETA share.
The Sharing with… control applies to location sharing associated with an active or configured ETA share. It is not necessarily a list of every person shown in Find My.
Understand Check In
Check In is not continuous automatic location sharing. It normally shares information only if your trip or activity encounters an unexpected delay and you do not respond.

The already-shared current location may remain available briefly, but Check In does not continue tracking you indefinitely.
Safety Check can identify Check In sharing separately from both Find My location sharing and Maps ETA sharing.
Stop sharing your location with everyone temporarily
To turn off ongoing Find My sharing for all people at once:

- Open Find My.
- Tap Me.
- Turn off Share My Location.
Turning Share My Location on again restores sharing with people you had previously shared with. This is different from removing each person individually.

From Find My
- Open Find My → People.
- Tap the person.
- Scroll down.
- Tap Stop Sharing My Location.
From Messages
- Open the relevant conversation.
- Tap the person or group name at the top.
- Tap Stop Sharing or Stop Sharing My Location.
From Maps
- Open Maps.
- Tap Sharing with… at the bottom.
- Tap the person’s name and use the available stop-sharing control.
You do not need to repeat the same stop action in every Apple app for one ongoing person share. However, review Safety Check if you also used ETA sharing or Check In, because those are separate features.
What to do if someone is missing from Find My
If a person does not appear under Find My → People, the location information may be coming from another feature:

Do not confuse app location access with people access
Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services lists apps that are allowed to access your iPhone’s location. It does not list the people receiving your location.
To check it, open that path and review the app list. If Find My cannot provide a location, make sure Location Services is enabled and that Find My has an allowed access option. Changing Location Services may make your location unavailable, but it does not remove recipients from the Find My sharing list.
Common mistakes and edge cases
- Deleting Find My does not stop sharing. People you previously shared with may still see your location. Reinstall Find My, then use Find My → People or Find My → Me to stop sharing.
- Turning off Location Services is not the same as removing a person. It controls app access to location and can make sharing unavailable without changing the recipient list.
- Blocking a contact has a wider effect than calls and messages. In iOS 26, blocking immediately stops Find My people location sharing without notifying the blocked person. If that person remains in the same Family Sharing group, they may still see the locations of devices associated with you in Find My → Devices.
- Family Sharing can override expectations. Check both the individual family list and Automatically Share Location.
- Location sharing availability varies by region. Apple does not make finding people through location sharing available in every country or region.
- Precision Finding has hardware limits. Precise location finding for a shared person requires both people to have an iPhone 15 or later.
Fastest privacy audit
If you want the shortest reliable process, use this order:
- Open Find My → People and remove unwanted ongoing person shares.
- Open Settings → Family → Location Sharing and check family access and automatic sharing.
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Safety Check to review Maps ETA, Check In, app access, and other person-level sharing.
- Check important Messages conversations and Maps → Sharing with… for active feature-specific shares.
- Use Safety Check → Emergency Reset if you need to stop sharing immediately with people and apps.

Where can I see everyone who can see my iPhone location?
Start with Find My → People for ongoing person-to-person location sharing. For a broader review, use Settings → Privacy & Security → Safety Check, then check Family Sharing, Maps ETA, Messages, and Check In because not every location feature appears in the Find My People list.

Does turning off Location Services remove someone from my location-sharing list?
No. Location Services controls whether apps can access your iPhone’s location. It may make your location unavailable, but it does not remove people from Find My. Use Find My → People or Safety Check to manage recipients.
Will someone know if I stop sharing my location?
Apple’s Find My instructions state that stopping sharing with one person does not notify that person. They may notice later that your location is no longer available.

No. Apple says people you previously shared with may still see your location after Find My is deleted. Reinstall the app and stop sharing through its controls.
Is a location sent in Messages always live?
No. Send Pin sends a one-time location snapshot. Live Location sharing is a separate feature and can last one hour, until the end of the day, or indefinitely.
Does Check In continuously track my location?
No. Check In shares location only if an unexpected delay occurs and you do not respond. It is not continuous automatic location sharing.
The Bottom Line
Use Find My → People to check ongoing location sharing, but use Safety Check for a complete privacy review. Also inspect Settings → Family → Location Sharing, Messages conversations, and Maps → Sharing with…. Those checks cover the main ways an iPhone can share your location and prevent a one-time pin, ETA, or Check In from being overlooked.
