Yes—you can personalize a Samsung Galaxy phone without replacing the phone. Use Galaxy Themes for a complete visual makeover, or install an icon-only pack when you want to keep your current wallpaper and other theme elements. Samsung’s documented process starts by touching and holding an empty area of the Home screen, then opening Themes. The exact labels and available options can differ by Galaxy model, carrier, region, Android version, and One UI version.
Choose the right kind of customization first
Samsung offers several layers of personalization. A full theme can alter many parts of the interface, while an icon pack is intended to change app symbols without replacing the rest of your current look. Theme Park and Colour palette provide additional options on compatible devices, but neither is guaranteed to appear on every Galaxy phone.

If your priority is “change only the icons,” start with the icon-only instructions below rather than applying a full theme.
Before you start
- Use a Galaxy phone rather than a Galaxy Tab; Samsung’s US Galaxy Themes instructions are for Galaxy phones.
- In Samsung’s US instructions, a Samsung account is required to access Galaxy Themes. Sign in or create one if the Themes store asks for it.
- Connect to the internet for browsing and downloading theme or icon content.
- Expect wording and menu placement to vary with your carrier, model, country, Android release, and One UI version.
- Review a theme or icon pack’s description and preview. “Theme” does not mean that every app, font, or screen will necessarily change.
How to apply a complete Galaxy theme
A full theme is the quickest route to a coordinated redesign. It may change the lock-screen and Home-screen wallpaper, icons, Samsung apps such as Phone, Contacts, Messages, and Keyboard, sounds, some fonts, and other layout details. The exact combination is chosen by the theme creator, so inspect the listing before committing.

- Go to the Home screen and touch and hold an empty area.
- Tap Themes. This opens Galaxy Themes.
- Open Menu (the three horizontal lines).
- Choose My stuff, then Themes.
- Select the theme you want to use. If it has not been downloaded, follow the on-screen download option first.
- Tap Apply. If a second confirmation appears, tap Apply again.
After the interface refreshes, check the Home screen, lock screen, Samsung apps, sounds, and keyboard. Those checks show which parts the selected theme actually includes; two themes can affect different elements.
Return to Samsung’s default theme
- Touch and hold an empty Home-screen area and tap Themes.
- Open Menu > My stuff > Themes.
- Select Default, then tap Apply and confirm if prompted.
You can also use the same path to apply another downloaded theme. Switching themes does not require uninstalling the previous one.
How to change only app icons
Use an icon-only pack when you want to preserve your current wallpaper and most other theme settings. This is a separate choice from applying a full theme.
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
- Tap Themes.
- Tap Icons to browse the available icon sets.
- Choose a set. Tap Download when it is free, or tap the displayed price for a paid set and complete the purchase flow.
- After downloading, open Menu > My stuff > Icons.
- Select the icon set and tap Apply. Confirm a second time if Samsung asks.
The pack affects only the icons it contains. Uncovered apps normally retain their existing symbols, so a mixed appearance is expected when the pack has no artwork for a particular app. Samsung’s US support instructions also do not provide a way in this flow to select a personal photograph or other image file as an app icon.

Keep your wallpaper while changing icons
Do not apply a full theme if the wallpaper and other visuals are already right. Go directly to Themes > Icons, download the desired set, and apply it from My stuff > Icons. That icon-only route is the Samsung-supported way to separate icon changes from a complete theme.
What a Samsung theme can and cannot change
Samsung’s Australian Galaxy Themes guidance explains that each theme can contain its own backgrounds, icons, or fonts, depending on the theme selected. In practical terms, a theme may include:
- Lock-screen and Home-screen wallpapers or backgrounds.
- Home-screen and app icons.
- Visual treatments for Samsung apps, including Phone, Contacts, Messages, and Keyboard.
- Notification or system sounds.
- Some fonts and interface styling.
- Changes to the overall layout or colour treatment.
These are possibilities, not a promise that every theme includes every item. Read the preview and description for the individual theme. Third-party apps may keep their original icon, and a theme can leave particular screens untouched.

Theme Park is a free Good Lock Labs app listed in Galaxy Store for creating and installing themes. Its listing describes per-app theme choices, which can be useful when a packaged theme is too broad or when you want to tune individual applications.

The listing also warns that supported apps and functions vary by app and Android version. Treat the version shown in Galaxy Store as a moving store fact rather than a compatibility guarantee: the listing observed on June 23, 2026 displayed version 1.1.02.2. Your phone may show a different version, different controls, or no compatible installation option.
When Theme Park is worth trying
- You want to create a colour and icon treatment instead of choosing a prebuilt design.
- You need finer control over selected apps rather than one global theme.
- Your Galaxy phone supports Good Lock components and the current Theme Park release.
What to check before relying on it
- Whether Theme Park appears in Galaxy Store for your country and model.
- Whether your Android and One UI versions meet the app’s current requirements.
- Which apps the current release actually supports; support is not universal.
- Whether the controls you need are present in the version installed on your phone.
Colour palette: coordinate colours without a full theme
Samsung’s Colour palette setting can derive a palette from the wallpaper and apply it to supported Samsung interface elements, including Samsung default app icons in the example Samsung documents. The example is based on a Galaxy S22 with Android 12 and One UI 4.1, so its exact path and appearance should not be treated as universal.
Look for Colour palette in your phone’s wallpaper or wallpaper-and-style settings. If the setting is absent, your model, region, carrier, or software version may not support it, or Samsung may expose it under a different label. Samsung cautions that availability and the interface vary by country, operating system and One UI version, device, and carrier.
Colour palette is different from an icon pack: it can recolour supported Samsung defaults but does not supply custom artwork for every installed app.

How to decide between the three main routes

Before downloading anything, answer four practical questions: Does the option appear on your model and software? Does it cover the apps you care about? Will it preserve the wallpaper and sounds you want to keep? Does Galaxy Themes show a free download or a displayed price for the content?

The Themes option is missing
- Confirm that you are on a Galaxy phone’s Home screen and are touching an empty area, not an app icon or widget.
- Check for software updates and restart the phone, then try the long-press path again.
- Account for regional, carrier, model, and One UI differences. Samsung states that menus and available settings can vary.
- If you are using a Galaxy Tab, the US Galaxy Themes instructions do not apply; tablet software can expose different features.
The icon pack downloaded but did not apply
- Return to Themes > Menu > My stuff > Icons.
- Select the downloaded set and tap Apply.
- Accept the second confirmation if shown, then wait for the Home screen to refresh.
If only some icons changed, the pack probably does not include artwork for the remaining apps. That is a coverage limitation, not necessarily an installation failure.
The theme changed more than expected
Reopen the theme’s description to see which backgrounds, icons, fonts, sounds, and Samsung apps it contains. To restore the prior appearance, apply the previous item from My stuff or choose Default under My stuff > Themes. If you intended to change only icons, use an icon-only pack next time.

Samsung’s documented Galaxy Themes icon flow does not provide a personal-image substitution option. You can choose among the icon sets offered through Galaxy Themes; a personal image requires a different launcher or customization method, which is outside Samsung’s documented process and may have its own compatibility and privacy considerations.

Theme Park features or Colour palette are unavailable
Check the current app listing and your phone’s Android and One UI versions. Theme Park support depends on the app and Android version. Colour palette availability depends on region, country, operating system and One UI version, device, and carrier. An option missing from your phone is therefore not proof that the installation is defective.
What happens to your layout and data when you switch
Applying a theme changes visual resources; it does not replace the phone’s operating system or remove installed apps. Nevertheless, a theme can alter wallpaper, icons, sounds, fonts, and some layout elements, so take a moment to note any arrangement you want to recreate. Switching back to the previous theme or to Default is the normal recovery path.
Icon-only packs are less invasive visually, but uncovered apps remain unchanged. If visual consistency matters, inspect the pack’s preview for the apps you use most before paying for it.
