In Black Ops 6, open Settings from the main interface or pause menu, then use the Search Settings field to find an option by name. Tune graphics and HUD for readable information and stable performance, choose an audio mix for your listening device, and enable accessibility features for the specific visual, hearing, or movement need you want to address. The exact options can differ by Call of Duty title, mode, platform, and update, so this guide focuses on Black Ops 6-era settings rather than promising that every label appears in every version.

Where do I find Call of Duty settings?

Open the in-game Settings menu from the main interface or pause menu. In Black Ops 6, a Search Settings field sits at the top of that menu, so you can search for a setting instead of opening each submenu in turn.

Quick Settings can hold up to 15 options, according to Activision’s Black Ops 6 guide. Master Volume, Stick Sensitivity, and Field of View are among the defaults; you can add other controls from their menus. This is useful for settings you change often, but it does not replace the full Settings menu.

Because Call of Duty menus and feature availability can change between titles, modes, platforms, and updates, treat the names here as Black Ops 6-era labels. If a setting is missing, search its name first; if it still does not appear, it may not be available in that title, mode, platform, or current build.

How should I adjust graphics and the HUD?

There is no universally correct graphics value in the cited Black Ops 6 guidance. Start with the display and hardware you actually use, prioritize a clear image and stable performance, and change one option at a time so you can tell what helped.

Balance view and image clarity

On PC, use the graphics and interface menus to adjust display and view controls, including Field of View (FOV). FOV changes how much of the scene is visible at once, so judge it by whether you can track nearby action and read the scene comfortably—not by assuming a high or low value is automatically better. The official guide does not prescribe a universal FOV number or graphics preset.

When comparing available graphics choices, consider the resolution and refresh rate of your display, the clarity of important details, and whether performance remains stable during play. A visually impressive choice is not useful if it makes the image harder for you to read or produces distracting instability. The material available here does not establish specific preset names, recommended numeric values, or platform-by-platform performance results.

Reduce visual clutter without losing useful information

Black Ops 6 includes HUD layout presets and minimap color controls. Activision specifically points to Target Tracker and Central Command as presets worth trying if the minimap draws too much attention or the interface feels visually cluttered. Try a preset in play and check whether essential information remains easy to locate.

High Contrast Mode can outline allies and enemies using customizable colors, and it can add a Dark Background for additional contrast. If the default colors are difficult to distinguish, adjust the outline colors rather than relying on the preset alone. These options change visual presentation; choose the combination that makes the information clearest to you.

Compare the main visual controls

Control What it changes Useful when
Field of View View control identified in the Black Ops 6 guide; no universal value is specified. You want to adjust how much of the scene is visible and can assess comfort and clarity on your display.
HUD layout preset Organization of on-screen interface elements; named examples include Target Tracker and Central Command. The minimap or other interface elements compete with the action for your attention.
Minimap colors Color choices for the minimap. The existing color presentation is difficult for you to read.
High Contrast Mode and Dark Background Ally and enemy outlines, customizable outline colors, and an optional dark background. You need clearer separation between players and the scene behind them.

Which audio settings help make sound easier to follow?

First confirm Master Game Volume and the Speaker/Headphones Game Sound Device. Then choose an Audio Mix intended for your listening setup. If you use headphones, you can also try Enhanced Headphone Mode, but keep it only if the result sounds comfortable and useful to you.

Set up the listening device and mix

Select the device you actually use, whether speakers or headphones, and make sure the game is sending sound to it. Next, select an Audio Mix suited to that type of hardware. Activision says the mixes are designed for different setups, including headphones and speakers; the cited guidance does not identify one mix as best for everyone or give a guaranteed footsteps advantage.

Evaluate the mix by whether important directional cues are intelligible without making the overall sound unpleasant or fatiguing. A mix that helps one player on one setup may not work the same way for another listener, so change it in a controlled setting and compare it with your usual option.

What Enhanced Headphone Mode and HRTF do

Black Ops 6 offers Enhanced Headphone Mode with a Universal HRTF profile for headphones. HRTF, or head-related transfer function, models how sound is shaped by the head and ears to convey spatial information. Activision describes the mode as compatible with any headphone or earbud model; that compatibility does not guarantee that every listener will prefer its sound.

A Personalized profile is also available through Embody’s portal. The feature’s availability should be checked in the specific Call of Duty title and mode you play. Activision’s 2024 launch article described Warzone availability as beginning with Season 1, which is a historical availability statement, not confirmation that the option is present in every current Warzone build or mode.

Reduce uncomfortable tinnitus effects

If the tinnitus sound associated with concussion or flash-grenade effects is uncomfortable, turn on Reduce Tinnitus Sound. It substitutes a duller cue for the effect rather than removing it completely. This setting is intended to change that sound effect; it is not a general replacement for adjusting device volume or selecting an appropriate audio mix.

Compare audio options by your setup

Option What to check Best decision test
Speaker/Headphones Game Sound Device Whether the game output is directed to the device you use. Confirm that game sound is coming through the intended speakers or headphones.
Audio Mix Whether the mix is designed for your hardware type. Compare directional intelligibility and listening comfort on your actual setup.
Enhanced Headphone Mode, Universal HRTF Whether spatial sound feels natural and comfortable to you. Try it on your headphones or earbuds and keep it only if it helps your listening experience.
Reduce Tinnitus Sound Whether the concussion or flash-grenade tinnitus cue is uncomfortable. Check whether the duller substitute is more comfortable while still serving as a cue.

Which accessibility settings should I use?

Choose accessibility controls for the task or discomfort you want to address: contrast and HUD options for visual separation, hearing controls for sound balance or tinnitus comfort, and movement or input options to reduce motor effort. Black Ops 6 includes options across those areas, but availability can vary by title, mode, and platform.

For visual separation and readability

Try High Contrast Mode, customize ally and enemy outline colors, and enable Dark Background if it makes targets easier to separate from the surrounding scene. HUD layout presets and minimap color choices offer additional ways to change where and how information appears. Evaluate these settings together in the mode you play, since a change that improves contrast should still leave key interface information usable.

For hearing differences or sound sensitivity

Asymmetrical Hearing Compensation lets you adjust selected frequencies independently for each ear. It can help balance the sound field or reduce frequencies that are uncomfortable. Adjust the sides deliberately and listen for a more balanced, comfortable result rather than assuming both ears need identical settings.

Reduce Tinnitus Sound changes the tinnitus effect from concussion and flash grenades to a dimmer cue, rather than eliminating it. Enhanced Headphone Mode’s spatial processing is a separate option: use it only if its sound is comfortable for you, and do not treat it as a hearing-accessibility substitute for frequency compensation.

For reduced movement or button effort

Intelligent Movement groups movement aids that can reduce the number of stick or button inputs required. Its options include Sprint Assist, Mantle Assist, Crouch Assist, and Corner Slice. Consider which repeated movement inputs are difficult or tiring, then enable the relevant assistance rather than turning on features you do not need.

Controller deadzones, button layouts, and remapping can also be adjusted. A deadzone affects how much stick movement is needed before an input registers; the right setting depends on the player and controller, so the official guide recommends tuning it rather than applying a universal value. Likewise, choose a layout or remapping that fits your reach and preferred inputs.

For arachnophobia and adaptive controllers

Black Ops 6 Zombies has an arachnophobia toggle that changes the appearance of spider-like enemies without changing gameplay. Activision also says the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Sony Access Controller work out of the box with Black Ops 6. These statements concern Black Ops 6; do not assume the same options or compatibility in a different Call of Duty title.

How broad is use of the accessibility menu?

Activision said in its 2024 Black Ops 6 accessibility announcement that “Nearly half of all players” access the accessibility settings menu. The announcement does not supply an independent methodology or denominator, so the figure should be understood as Activision’s attributed statement about Black Ops 6—not as a platform-wide census or a measured estimate for every Call of Duty game.

What order should I use to tune everything?

A staged approach makes it easier to notice which change improved clarity, comfort, or control. Make one change at a time and test it in a low-pressure mode before relying on it in a more demanding match.

  1. Confirm your devices. Check the input device and the display, speaker, or headphone device the game is using.
  2. Set baseline audio. Adjust Master Game Volume and choose an Audio Mix intended for your listening hardware. If you use headphones, try HRTF only if it is comfortable and sounds useful.
  3. Make the screen readable. Reduce visual effects that interfere with readability when those controls are available, then adjust FOV and HUD layout so key information remains visible. The cited guide does not prescribe universal graphics values.
  4. Address the specific access need. Try high contrast and Dark Background for visual separation; asymmetrical hearing compensation or Reduce Tinnitus Sound for sound balance or comfort; or Intelligent Movement and remapping to reduce motor effort.
  5. Test and keep useful changes. Change one control at a time in a low-pressure mode, note whether it helped, and restore the previous option if it made play less comfortable or information harder to read.
  6. Save frequent adjustments for quick access. Add controls you commonly revisit to Quick Settings, which supports up to 15 options in Black Ops 6.

Why can’t I find a setting?

Black Ops 6-era features are not guaranteed to appear under the same label—or at all—in every Call of Duty game, mode, platform, and update. Search Settings by the control’s name first. If it remains absent, verify that you are in the intended title and mode and that your game has the current update; do not assume that a feature documented for Black Ops 6 is available elsewhere.

Some guidance is platform-specific: the cited graphics advice specifically discusses PC graphics and interface menus, while the accessibility feature list includes controller controls and named adaptive-controller compatibility for Black Ops 6. If a menu label differs on your platform, use the in-game search when available rather than relying on a path from another platform or title.

For options that are present but do not seem to help, return to the one-change-at-a-time approach. Confirm that the game is using the expected audio device, compare the relevant mix on the hardware you use, and assess visual or movement adjustments in a mode where you can focus on the effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does HRTF change the sound for speakers too?

Enhanced Headphone Mode is described as a headphone feature, with a Universal HRTF profile for headphones or earbuds. For speakers, begin with the speaker device selection and an Audio Mix designed for that setup.

What does Asymmetrical Hearing Compensation change?

It allows selected frequencies to be adjusted independently for the left and right ears. That makes it possible to balance the sound field differently on each side instead of applying the same adjustment to both.

Does the Zombies arachnophobia option make spider-like enemies disappear?

The documented effect is a change to their appearance, not a gameplay change. The available description does not say that the enemies are removed.

Can I use an adaptive controller with Black Ops 6?

Activision states that the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Sony Access Controller work out of the box with Black Ops 6. That compatibility statement is specific to Black Ops 6 and should not be generalized to every Call of Duty title.
