To activate Apple Music on a Bluesound player, open the BluOS Controller app, go to the Music Services management screen, choose Apple Music, and sign in with a premium Apple Music account. On Android or iOS, the path is Music > Manage under Music Services. On Windows or macOS, use Music Services > Manage. After authentication, Apple Music appears in the BluOS Music Services list. If the Apple Music entry is unavailable or you prefer to play from Apple’s app, use AirPlay on a compatible BluOS Player from the 2018-or-later generation, or use Bluetooth when the player supports it.
What do I need before activating Apple Music?
You need three things: a Bluesound player controlled by BluOS, the BluOS Controller app on a phone, tablet, Windows PC, or Mac, and a premium Apple Music account. Apple Music service availability varies by country; BluOS lists the service in 172 countries, so the option may not appear in every region.
- Have the Apple Music credentials ready for the account that includes streaming access.
- Use the BluOS Controller app rather than the Apple Music app for native activation.
- If you own several players, plan to authenticate each one individually. BluOS stores the Apple Music ID on the individual player.
Native activation makes Apple Music a service inside BluOS. You can then browse and start playback from the BluOS interface instead of relaying audio from another device.

How do I activate Apple Music on a Bluesound player from Android or iOS?
On a phone or tablet, the complete path is Music > Manage in the BluOS Controller app, followed by Apple Music sign-in.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open BluOS Controller on your Android phone, iPhone, or iPad.
- Open Music.
- Choose Manage in the Music Services area.
- Select Apple Music from the available services.
- Enter the credentials for your premium Apple Music account and complete the sign-in screen.
- Return to the Music Services list and select Apple Music to begin browsing and playback.
The expected result is that Apple Music is listed as an available service in BluOS. If you do not see it after signing in, use the troubleshooting checks below before assuming the player is incompatible.
What if the service is not listed on a phone or tablet?
First, confirm that you opened the service manager through Music > Manage, rather than looking only at the current source list. Next, check that the Apple Music account is a premium account and that Apple Music is offered in your country. BluOS identifies the service as available in 172 countries, not every country worldwide.
If native login still is not available, AirPlay is the most direct fallback for compatible players. Bluetooth is another option when the player and sending device support it.
How do I add Apple Music to BluOS from Windows or macOS?
On a computer, BluOS uses a slightly different label: open Music Services > Manage, select Apple Music, and sign in.
- Launch the BluOS Controller application on Windows or macOS.
- Open Music Services.
- Choose Manage.
- Select Apple Music.
- Enter the credentials for a premium Apple Music account.
- Open the Music Services list again and choose Apple Music to verify that the service is available for playback.
Native sign-in is preferable when it works because the service is integrated into BluOS. You do not have to keep a phone or computer app in the foreground to select music.
Does every Bluesound player need its own Apple Music login?
Yes. BluOS stores the Apple Music ID on each individual player. The manufacturer’s support guidance states: For security reasons, your Apple Music ID is stored on the individual player itself.

That means grouping players does not create a single shared credential. Sign in to Apple Music separately on every player you want to use, including players that will normally be grouped for synchronized playback. If a newly added player cannot access Apple Music while another player can, authenticate the newly added unit directly.

How do I use AirPlay from Apple Music to a Bluesound player?
AirPlay is the practical fallback when native Apple Music activation is unavailable. It works with AirPlay-compatible BluOS Players from the 2018-or-later generation. The Apple Music app remains the playback source, while the BluOS player receives the stream.
- Open the Apple Music app on an iPhone or iPad.
- Start the song, album, or playlist you want to hear.
- Open Control Centre.
- Tap the AirPlay widget.
- Select the compatible BluOS player from the device list.
- To play to more than one compatible player, select the additional players in the same AirPlay list.
AirPlay does not require you to add Apple Music as a native BluOS service first. It is therefore useful when the service entry is missing in your region or when you would rather control playback from Apple’s app.
Which Bluesound generations support this AirPlay route?
BluOS identifies AirPlay compatibility for BluOS Players in the 2018-or-later generation. A player outside that generation may not appear in the AirPlay list even though newer BluOS hardware does. If the player is not offered as an AirPlay destination, use native BluOS sign-in where available or check Bluetooth support for that model.
Does Bluesound support Apple Music lossless audio?
Yes, but the result depends on how a Mac sends Apple Music to the player. BluOS reports that selecting a BluOS Player directly in the Apple Music AirPlay list converts lossless content to 256 kbps AAC. A Mac-specific workaround keeps the stream at 16-bit/44.1 kHz ALAC, which is CD-quality lossless.
Why does direct Mac AirPlay selection become AAC?
If you open Apple Music on a Mac and choose the BluOS player directly from the app’s AirPlay menu, BluOS says the lossless stream is converted to AAC at 256 kbps. That is a lossy stream, even when the source recording is marked lossless.

How do I preserve 16-bit/44.1 kHz ALAC from a Mac?
- On the Mac, open Control Center.
- Under Sound, choose AirPlay.
- Select the BluOS player as the Mac’s system-wide audio output.
- Return to Apple Music and open its AirPlay icon.
- Choose Computer > (BluOS Player).
BluOS says this route transmits 16-bit/44.1 kHz ALAC. The key distinction is that the player is selected first as the Mac’s system output; Apple Music then routes through the computer output rather than sending directly to the player from its own device list.
Can I play Apple Music through a Bluesound NODE with Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a second fallback for streaming Apple Music from a Bluetooth-enabled phone, tablet, or computer to a compatible BluOS player. It is useful when native Apple Music login and AirPlay are not practical, or when the sending device is not an Apple device.
Most current Bluesound players include Bluetooth. The first-generation POWERNODE, PULSE, and VAULT models are exceptions: they require an approved Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter, such as the IOGear GBU521 or the Targus 4.0 Micro USB Adapter.
- Confirm that the player has built-in Bluetooth or that an approved Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter is installed on one of the first-generation models listed above.
- Enable Bluetooth on the phone, tablet, or computer running Apple Music.
- Pair that device with the BluOS player using the device’s Bluetooth controls.
- Start Apple Music on the paired device and select the content to play.
Bluetooth sends audio from the device running Apple Music; it does not add Apple Music as a native service inside BluOS. For that integrated experience, use the Music Services manager instead.
Which Apple Music activation method should I choose?
Use native BluOS login when you want Apple Music integrated into the BluOS interface. Use AirPlay when you need to control playback from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and use Bluetooth when the player or sending device makes that the simpler connection.
| Route | Where you start | Player compatibility | Authentication scope | Audio detail established by BluOS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Native BluOS service | BluOS Controller > Music > Manage on Android/iOS, or Music Services > Manage on Windows/macOS | Apple Music must be available in the region and listed by BluOS | Apple Music ID is stored on each individual player; sign in on every player | Integrated BluOS playback; no separate AirPlay conversion is specified |
| AirPlay from iPhone or iPad | Apple Music > Control Centre > AirPlay widget | AirPlay-compatible BluOS Players from the 2018-or-later generation | Uses the Apple device’s Apple Music session | Suitable fallback; BluOS does not state a lossless rate for this iPhone/iPad path |
| AirPlay from a Mac, direct player selection | Apple Music AirPlay list | AirPlay-compatible BluOS player | Uses the Mac’s Apple Music session | Lossless content is converted to 256 kbps AAC |
| AirPlay from a Mac, system-output workaround | Control Center > Sound > AirPlay, then Apple Music > AirPlay > Computer > player | AirPlay-compatible BluOS player | Uses the Mac’s Apple Music session | 16-bit/44.1 kHz ALAC, according to BluOS |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth controls on the phone, tablet, or computer running Apple Music | Bluetooth-enabled player; first-generation POWERNODE, PULSE, and VAULT need an approved Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter | Uses the sending device’s Apple Music session | Bluetooth relay; BluOS does not specify a lossless rate |
Why won’t Apple Music show up in BluOS?
Most cases fall into a small number of checks. Work through them in this order so that an unavailable service is not confused with a player-authentication problem.

1. The account is not a premium Apple Music account
BluOS requires a premium Apple Music account for the native service. Verify that the credentials you entered belong to an account with streaming access, then return to the Apple Music entry in the service manager.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2. Apple Music is not offered in your country
BluOS lists Apple Music in 172 countries, so regional availability is broad but not universal. If the service is absent from the Manage screen rather than merely refusing your password, regional availability is a likely explanation. AirPlay or Bluetooth can still provide a relay path when the hardware supports it.
3. You authenticated a different player
Credentials are stored per player, not once for the entire household or group. Open BluOS Controller with the player that is missing Apple Music selected, then repeat the Apple Music sign-in for that unit.
4. The player is too old for the AirPlay fallback
AirPlay support is identified for BluOS Players from the 2018-or-later generation. If an older player does not appear in the iPhone or iPad AirPlay list, that absence does not necessarily indicate a problem with your Apple Music account; use native login if available or investigate Bluetooth support.
5. You are checking the wrong app
Native activation is performed in BluOS Controller, not by waiting for a player to appear automatically inside Apple Music. For an AirPlay session, use Apple Music’s AirPlay controls after confirming that the player is an AirPlay-compatible destination.

Check how the player was selected. Directly choosing the BluOS player in Apple Music’s AirPlay list produces 256 kbps AAC for lossless content according to BluOS. To use the documented lossless route, change the Mac’s system-wide output first through Control Center > Sound > AirPlay, select the player, and then choose Apple Music > AirPlay > Computer > (BluOS Player).

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The expected format for that workaround is 16-bit/44.1 kHz ALAC. If you require the highest quality documented for this setup, avoid the direct-device selection inside Apple Music on the Mac.
How do I verify that activation worked?
A successful native activation has a simple visible result: Apple Music appears in BluOS’s Music Services list after you complete sign-in. Select it from that list and confirm that its catalog loads. On a grouped system, verify each player separately because one player’s stored credentials do not automatically authenticate another.
For AirPlay, success means the compatible BluOS player appears in the iPhone or iPad Control Centre AirPlay widget, or as an AirPlay destination on the Mac. For Bluetooth, success means the sending device is paired with the player and Apple Music audio is routed through that connection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Apple Music available on every Bluesound player and in every country?
No universal availability is established. BluOS lists Apple Music in 172 countries, while AirPlay compatibility is identified for BluOS Players from the 2018-or-later generation; an older model or unsupported region may require a different route.
Do I need a separate Apple Music subscription for each player?
The documented requirement is separate authentication on each player, because BluOS stores the Apple Music ID locally on each unit. The guidance does not state that you must purchase separate subscriptions; use the credentials for your premium account when signing in to each player.
What is the quality difference between Mac AirPlay choices?
Choosing the player directly in Apple’s AirPlay list converts lossless material to 256 kbps AAC. Selecting the player as the Mac’s system-wide AirPlay output and then choosing Computer in Apple Music is the documented path for 16-bit/44.1 kHz ALAC.
Can an older first-generation POWERNODE use Bluetooth for Apple Music?
Yes, but first-generation POWERNODE, PULSE, and VAULT models require an approved Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter. BluOS names the IOGear GBU521 and Targus 4.0 Micro USB Adapter as examples.
