Install the free SAROS: Zenith update on PS5, finish the main SAROS campaign, then return to Passage and open the Armor Matrix. The update adds new nodes there; using them unlocks Eclipse Layers, SAROS’s New Game+ mode. Overlord Rush is separate: interact with the Primary Unit in Passage and select it from the menu.
Zenith launched on October 19, 2026, and is included at no additional charge for SAROS owners. You do not need to buy a separate Zenith product or expansion.

The two modes are not unlocked from the same menu. Looking at the Armor Matrix will not start Overlord Rush, and selecting the Primary Unit will not unlock Eclipse Layers. Use the Armor Matrix for the campaign-style New Game+ content and the Primary Unit for the boss-rush simulation.
Before you look for the new content
Install the October 19, 2026 update
Zenith is a PS5 update for SAROS. Confirm that the game has finished updating before troubleshooting an absent menu or node. Because the update is free to owners, there is no separate Zenith download or purchase to activate after the game update is installed.

Know which prerequisite applies
Eclipse Layers are tied to campaign completion. If you have not cleared the main SAROS game, the new Armor Matrix nodes that open the next Eclipse Layer are not available through the stated unlock path. Overlord Rush has no stated requirement to clear the campaign; it is launched directly from the Primary Unit in Passage.
Return to Passage
Passage is SAROS’s central hub and the starting point for both Zenith activities. After updating, load into Passage rather than searching through the regular campaign menus. The Armor Matrix and Primary Unit are separate interactable points in the hub.
How to unlock Eclipse Layers
- Update SAROS on PS5. Install the Zenith update released October 19, 2026. Zenith is included with ownership of SAROS at no additional charge.
- Clear the main SAROS campaign. Complete the game’s main run and reach the clear state. Eclipse Layers do not begin appearing before this prerequisite.
- Travel back to Passage. Passage is the hub where the post-clear content is added.
- Open the Armor Matrix. After the clear, mysterious new nodes are added to the Matrix. These nodes are the access route to the gate for the next Eclipse Layer.
- Choose the Eclipse Layer and prepare its Modifier loadout. Before a run starts, your selected Carcosan Modifiers must reach the threshold required by that mode. Trial Modifiers provide the challenge points used to reach the balance.
- Start the run after the threshold is met. The selected Modifier balance determines whether the layer can be launched. If the game does not let you proceed, review the loadout rather than looking for a second entrance elsewhere in Passage.
What the Armor Matrix nodes mean
The new nodes are not a cosmetic change to the Matrix. They are the keys that open the gate to the next Eclipse Layer. The unlock therefore has two parts: first clear SAROS, then use the post-clear nodes in Passage. Seeing the Matrix before the campaign clear does not satisfy that sequence.
How Modifier requirements work
Eclipse Layers use Carcosan Modifiers and require a mode-specific Modifier threshold before a run can begin. Trial Modifiers supply the challenge points for that balance, and Zenith provides 25 Trials to choose from. Select the combination that reaches the displayed requirement, then launch the layer.
The requirement is part of the mode’s design, not a separate purchase or a hidden story objective. If your loadout is below the required balance, add or change Trial Modifiers until the threshold is reached.

What Eclipse Layers change
Eclipse Layers are SAROS’s New Game+ format. Arjun returns to the beginning, but the run follows altered rules and offers new progression possibilities. The mode also asks for more demanding Modifier requirements than a standard run.
Crown and Armor indicators
During Eclipse Layers, Arjun wears a Crown and his Armor glows gold. A higher Modifier balance produces a larger Crown, giving you a visible indication of how aggressively the run has been configured.

Vision murals and additional story text
Carcosa contains 12 Vision murals. When your Crown level is high enough, those murals reveal additional story text. The Crown level is therefore connected to more than difficulty presentation: it determines when this extra narrative material becomes available during Eclipse Layers.
What is not required
You do not need a separate Zenith license, a second game mode purchase or a special accessory to unlock Eclipse Layers. The stated route is campaign clear, Passage, Armor Matrix nodes and a qualifying Carcosan Modifier setup.
How to start Overlord Rush
- Install Zenith. Make sure the October 19, 2026 update is present on your PS5 copy of SAROS.
- Enter Passage. Overlord Rush is accessed from the central hub.
- Find the Primary Unit. This is a different interaction point from the Armor Matrix.
- Interact with the Primary Unit. Choose Overlord Rush from the available options.
- Select a set. Choose Incursion, Ascension or Totality, depending on the length and challenge format you want to play.
Unlike Eclipse Layers, Overlord Rush has no stated requirement to clear the main campaign. If the mode is available in the Primary Unit menu after the update, you can launch it from there without first using the Armor Matrix.

Incursion
Incursion contains three Overlords and is designed to take about 10 minutes. It is one of the shorter score-attack sets and lets you practice the rush format without committing to the full eight-boss sequence.

Ascension also contains three Overlords and is designed to take about 10 minutes. It is a separate set from Incursion, so choosing one does not mean you have selected the other.
Totality
Totality chains all eight Overlords into one gauntlet. It is the longest listed Overlord Rush set and is the option for players who want to run through the complete collection in one score attempt.
Leaderboards and connection requirements
Overlord Rush includes integrated leaderboards. You can compare scores globally and filter the results by Main Weapon. Viewing or submitting online comparisons requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. The rush itself is distinct from that online comparison feature; the documented connection requirement applies to the leaderboard functionality.

Use the documented unlock sequence as a checklist. Each check addresses a condition that controls whether the nodes should be present.

- Verify the game updated. Zenith launched October 19, 2026. If the update has not installed, the new post-launch content will not be present.
- Confirm that you actually cleared the main campaign. Reaching Passage or starting a new run is not the same as completing the campaign. Eclipse Layers require the clear.
- Return to Passage after the clear. The nodes are added back at the hub, so inspect the Armor Matrix there rather than an in-run menu.
- Check the Armor Matrix itself. The new nodes are the stated key to the next Eclipse Layer. The Primary Unit is for Overlord Rush and will not display the Eclipse unlock.
- Separate unlocking from launching. After the nodes appear, an Eclipse Layer still requires a Carcosan Modifier loadout that reaches its threshold. A visible node does not mean an under-threshold run can launch.
No additional cause for missing nodes is established in the available information. If the update is installed, the campaign is cleared and Passage still does not show the nodes, the documented access path does not identify another in-game prerequisite.
If Overlord Rush is not where you expect
- Go to Passage, not the Armor Matrix.
- Interact with the Primary Unit and look for the menu item named Overlord Rush.
- Remember that Overlord Rush is a separate activity from Eclipse Layers; unlocking the latter does not replace the Primary Unit menu.
- If you are trying to compare scores, check the internet connection and PlayStation account requirement for the online leaderboard feature.
Zenith accessibility and control options
The update adds four named options alongside SAROS’s existing button-remapping support: Slow Game Speed, Auto-fire, Motion Sensor Aiming and High-Contrast visuals.
Slow Game Speed
Slow Game Speed can be configured to activate automatically during combat or switched on manually. Automatic activation is useful if you want the slowdown to occur only in combat situations; manual toggling gives you direct control over when it is active.
Auto-fire
Auto-fire shoots while you are aiming at a hostile target. It does not remove the reload input: reloading still requires a timed button press. If you enable the option, plan to keep performing that reload action rather than expecting the weapon cycle to be entirely automatic.

Motion Sensor Aiming uses the DualSense wireless controller. It is a controller-based aiming option added by Zenith, so it applies when playing with that supported PS5 controller.

High-Contrast visuals
High-Contrast visuals provide an additional presentation option for readability. The update adds this alongside the control changes rather than replacing existing button remapping.
What Zenith includes
Zenith combines two different kinds of replay content. Eclipse Layers extend the campaign with a New Game+ structure, altered rules and Modifier-driven progression. Overlord Rush extracts the Overlords into compact training simulations built for speed and score comparison.

No. Zenith is a free update for owners of SAROS, released October 19, 2026. There is no separate Zenith purchase to activate.

Do I need to own anything besides SAROS?
You need the base SAROS PS5 game to receive the owner update. A DualSense wireless controller is relevant only if you want to use Motion Sensor Aiming; it is not stated as a requirement for unlocking either new mode.
Do I need a PlayStation account to play the new modes?
The documented account and internet requirement applies to online Overlord Rush leaderboard comparison. No separate account requirement is stated for entering Eclipse Layers or running the modes locally.
