Game Informer reported that GTA 6’s Leonida will feature more than 170 animal species across land, air, and sea. Its report names examples and describes visual detail and rare-animal categories, but it does not provide a complete species list or confirm what players can do with wildlife.
How many animals are reported for GTA 6?
Game Informer reported on September 29, 2026, that Leonida will contain over 170 animal species across land, air, and sea. Treat that as a figure reported by the publication, not as a complete census or list published directly by Rockstar. The available report does not identify every species.
The setting is inspired by Florida, and the reported wildlife includes both animals associated with the region and invasive species. The named examples are illustrative, not an exhaustive roster.

What has been reported about wildlife detail and discovery?
Game Informer says Rockstar’s animal rendering builds on work from Red Dead Redemption and describes features including iridescence, bioluminescence, translucency, different feather types, and updated hair and fur systems for coats and pelts. These are reported visual systems; they do not by themselves confirm a particular animal interaction or gameplay feature.
The report also says some animals are categorized as Rare, Discoverable, or Legendary. It withholds the identities of the harder-to-find animals, so there is no reliable basis here for assigning a named species to one of those categories.

Can you hunt, fish, pet, or tame animals in GTA 6?
The available reports do not confirm whether players can pet, tame, hunt, or otherwise interact with particular animals. In particular, a location description mentioning hunting or fishing trails is not proof those activities are playable.
For example, PC Gamer’s August 18, 2026 map guide says Rockstar’s description of Mount Kalaga National Park presents it as offering hunting, fishing, and off-road trails. PC Gamer explicitly cautions that this location copy does not confirm playable hunting or fishing. See its GTA 6 map guide.

Is there a full GTA 6 animal list?
Not in the accessible reporting covered here. Game Informer names examples and reports an overall figure, but does not publish every species. The official Rockstar GTA VI page does not provide wildlife details that can be verified from the available material. Trailer sightings, fan identifications, leaks, or assumptions based on earlier Rockstar games should not be treated as an official complete roster.
