ESPN’s full direct-to-consumer streaming service launched on August 21, 2025. As of August 12, 2026, ESPN offers Select for $12.99 per month or $129.99 per year and Unlimited for $29.99 per month or $299.99 per year. Select is the ESPN+ content tier; Unlimited adds ESPN’s broader network-and-service lineup. Both plans include advertising during live events and studio programming.

The right plan depends on the programming you want, and neither plan guarantees every event in every location because blackouts, regional rights, authentication, device support, and geography can apply.

Pricing and availability note: The plan details below reflect ESPN documentation available on August 12, 2026. Prices, promotions, device support, sports rights, and bundle terms can change, so verify the final checkout page and the event listing before subscribing.

What the ESPN streaming service is

ESPN’s full direct-to-consumer streaming service launched on August 21, 2025, inside an enhanced version of the ESPN App. It is not just one replacement for cable and it is not one single subscription: ESPN currently offers two main standalone plans with very different levels of access.

ESPN Select costs $12.99 per month or $129.99 per year and is the ESPN+ content tier. ESPN Unlimited costs $29.99 per month or $299.99 per year and adds ESPN’s broader network-and-service lineup, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN Deportes, ESPN+, and other listed services.

For most readers, the choice is straightforward: choose Select if you mainly want ESPN+ programming and on-demand content; choose Unlimited if you want to stream the main ESPN networks and the widest range of ESPN programming directly. Neither plan is completely ad-free: both carry advertising during live events and studio programming.

ESPN Select vs. ESPN Unlimited

Plan Monthly price Annual price What it includes Best for
ESPN Select $12.99 $129.99 ESPN+ programming, including selected soccer, PGA TOUR coverage, NHL content, college sports, combat sports, ESPN Films, originals, and on-demand material Viewers who primarily want the ESPN+ library at the lower price
ESPN Unlimited $29.99 $299.99 Everything in Select plus ESPN’s listed networks and services, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNNEWS, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN on ABC, SECN+, and ACCNX Viewers who want the broadest direct ESPN access, including live network programming

The annual Select plan costs $129.99 instead of $155.88 if paid monthly, a difference of $25.89 over a year. Unlimited costs $299.99 annually instead of $359.88 through twelve monthly payments, a difference of $59.89. These calculations compare the listed standard prices and do not account for promotions or bundle discounts.

What ESPN Select includes

ESPN Select is the current lower-priced tier built around ESPN+ content. Existing ESPN+ subscribers were transitioned to Select while retaining access to ESPN+ programming.

That programming can include soccer, PGA TOUR coverage, NHL content, college sports, combat sports, ESPN Films, ESPN originals, and on-demand material. The important limitation is that Select is not the full collection of ESPN’s linear networks. A Select subscription should not be treated as a way to watch every ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network, or ACC Network broadcast.

What ESPN Unlimited adds

Unlimited includes the Select/ESPN+ library and the broader ESPN network-and-service lineup. ESPN lists the following among the included services:

  • ESPN
  • ESPN2
  • ESPNU
  • ESPNNEWS
  • ESPN Deportes
  • SEC Network
  • ACC Network
  • ESPN+
  • ESPN on ABC
  • SECN+
  • ACCNX

This makes Unlimited the relevant plan for viewers who want regular access to ESPN’s main network programming, college conference networks, studio shows, and the ESPN+ catalog in one ESPN subscription. However, the list is not a guarantee that every event shown on an ESPN-related channel is available to every subscriber in every location. Regional rights, blackouts, event-specific restrictions, and other access rules can still apply.

When did ESPN’s streaming service launch?

The full ESPN direct-to-consumer service launched on August 21, 2025. ESPN introduced it through an enhanced ESPN App intended to bring its networks and services directly to subscribers rather than requiring a traditional pay-TV package for the broadest ESPN experience.

The enhanced app also emphasized a more personalized sports experience, with features such as personalized SportsCenter experiences, statistics, betting information, fantasy features, commerce, and multiview. Feature availability can depend on the plan, sign-in status, device, language, and geography. Having the app installed does not mean every feature or every stream is available on every device.

Which ESPN plan should you choose?

Choose ESPN Select when:

  • You mainly want ESPN+ originals, films, on-demand programming, combat sports, soccer, college sports, PGA TOUR coverage, or other ESPN+ content.
  • You do not need the main ESPN and ESPN2 networks or the college conference networks.
  • Keeping the monthly or annual cost as low as possible matters more than having the broadest ESPN access.

Choose ESPN Unlimited when:

  • You want the main ESPN networks as well as ESPN+.
  • You follow programming on ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN Deportes, or ESPNNEWS.
  • You want the closest direct-to-consumer equivalent to the wider ESPN network lineup.

Check a bundle when:

  • You already pay for Disney+ or Hulu, or you want those services alongside ESPN.
  • You are comparing sports-specific options such as FOX One, NFL+ Premium, or MLB.TV.
  • A current promotion makes the combined price better than paying for each service separately.

Do not select Unlimited solely because you assume it includes every professional sports package. ESPN’s plan gives access to the services and programming included under its current terms, but sports rights are divided among leagues, broadcasters, regional networks, and special subscription products.

Is ESPN available outside the United States?

The clearest current plan and eligibility information is U.S.-focused. Disney’s ESPN bundle documentation identifies eligible purchasers as residents of the United States or certain U.S. territories who meet the applicable age requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

International ESPN products are not automatically the same as the U.S. ESPN Unlimited service. ESPN’s content rights, apps, prices, bundles, and available plans vary by market. A person outside the United States should check the ESPN offering for their own country instead of assuming that Select or Unlimited is available there.

Location-based restrictions can also apply within supported markets. A subscription is not a promise of universal access to every game. Regional sports rights, blackouts, authentication requirements, and event-specific restrictions may affect what you can watch.

How to watch ESPN

After subscribing, sign in to the ESPN App or ESPN.com using your ESPN or MyDisney credentials. Depending on the subscription and the content, ESPN can be watched through mobile and web experiences and on supported living-room devices.

ESPN’s support instructions specifically identify these living-room platforms:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Apple TV
  • Roku
  • LG TV
  • Fire TV Stick

App availability and supported features can vary by device model, operating system, country, and subscription. If you buy a bundle, activation may involve linking the subscription to the relevant account before the apps recognize your entitlement.

Do Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN use one app?

No. A Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle does not create one universal app containing every service. Subscribers generally use the individual Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN apps. Some ESPN or Hulu content may be accessible through another app depending on the subscription and content type, but you should expect to install and sign in to the appropriate apps.

For most ESPN subscription content, ESPN says subscribers can stream on up to three devices simultaneously. Simultaneous-stream limits and other usage rules can vary by content, so this should not be interpreted as an unlimited number of devices or a guarantee that every stream supports the same limit.

ESPN bundles and related sports options

Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN

The main entertainment bundle combines Disney+, Hulu, and either ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited. Select provides the ESPN+ tier in the bundle; Unlimited provides the broader ESPN network-and-service lineup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bundle pricing is more volatile than the standard standalone prices. Promotional, seasonal, advertising-tier, and eligibility-specific offers can change. Use the live purchase page immediately before subscribing rather than relying on an old introductory price or a price shown in an older article.

ESPN Unlimited and FOX One

ESPN documents an ESPN and FOX One bundle priced at $39.99 per month. The services remain separate products, accessed through their respective apps. ESPN says this offer is currently purchased through the ESPN or FOX websites rather than through Disney+ or Hulu.

This option may be worth comparing for viewers who want ESPN programming and FOX One content together, but it does not merge the two services into a single app or remove the sports-rights limitations of either service.

NFL+ Premium

Disney and ESPN have documented an ESPN-related NFL+ Premium bundle path that includes NFL RedZone and other NFL+ benefits. It can be a useful seasonal comparison for football viewers, but the exact price, eligibility, availability, and included benefits should be checked before purchase. NFL packages and distribution rights can change between seasons.

In particular, do not assume that an ESPN Unlimited subscription automatically includes every NFL+ Premium benefit or every NFL game. Those are separate products unless the current offer explicitly says otherwise.

MLB.TV on ESPN

ESPN’s commercial and support materials identify MLB.TV as an ESPN-related offering. MLB.TV is subject to U.S.-market restrictions and blackout rules, so it should not be described as universal access to every baseball game.

Before subscribing for baseball, check whether the games you want are affected by your location, local-team rights, or the terms of the specific MLB.TV offer.

WWE premium live events

ESPN and WWE announced an agreement under which WWE premium live events, including WrestleMania and other major events, would become part of ESPN’s U.S. direct-to-consumer offering beginning in 2026.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Because this is a rights- and schedule-sensitive arrangement, verify the current event calendar and whether the event is included in your plan before assuming that a particular WWE premium live event is available through your subscription.

What you need to watch ESPN on a TV

If your television already supports the ESPN App, you may not need any additional hardware. If it does not, a compatible streaming device can add an app-based interface. An Amazon Fire TV Stick HD is one option because ESPN explicitly lists Fire TV Stick among its supported living-room devices.

The device supplies access to a compatible streaming platform; it does not include an ESPN subscription or unlock ESPN content by itself. You still need an eligible ESPN plan, an ESPN or MyDisney sign-in, an internet connection, and a TV with the necessary connection. The Fire TV Stick is not the only way to watch ESPN, and buying one does not guarantee a particular resolution for every ESPN stream.

Troubleshooting ESPN streaming problems

Start by identifying whether the problem is an account issue, an app or device issue, a network problem, or a content-rights restriction. The correct fix depends on the symptom.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Symptom What to check first
The app says you do not have access Confirm that you are signed in with the ESPN/MyDisney account used for the subscription. If you purchased a bundle, confirm that the ESPN portion was activated and linked correctly.
One game or event is unavailable Check the event’s rights, regional availability, blackout status, and any provider or authentication requirement. A missing event does not necessarily mean the app is broken.
The ESPN App is missing from a TV Check whether the exact device model and region support the app. Updating the TV or streaming device may help, but unsupported hardware cannot be made compatible by changing the subscription.
Video buffers across multiple programs Test the connection with other services, restart the app and device, install available app or system updates, and try another supported device or network. If the problem affects only one service, account, app, or service-side conditions may be involved.
Playback fails only on a Windows computer Check the browser, Windows updates, display and audio settings, network adapter, and the computer manufacturer’s driver tools. Driver software is not a solution for blackouts, login problems, or subscription errors.

What to check before subscribing

  1. Confirm the plan. Select is the ESPN+ tier; Unlimited is the broader network-and-service plan. Do not compare them as if they provide the same channels.
  2. Check the current price. The standard standalone prices are $12.99 monthly or $129.99 annually for Select, and $29.99 monthly or $299.99 annually for Unlimited. Promotions and bundle prices may differ.
  3. Search for the exact event. A network’s inclusion does not guarantee every event in every location. Check blackouts, regional rights, and event restrictions.
  4. Confirm geographic eligibility. The documented availability is U.S.-focused, with eligibility extending to certain U.S. territories. International offerings can be different.
  5. Check your device. Make sure your phone, browser, TV, Apple TV, Roku, LG TV, or Fire TV Stick supports the ESPN App and the features you need.
  6. Expect separate apps in a bundle. Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN generally remain separate apps even when billed together.
  7. Review simultaneous-stream rules. Most ESPN subscription content can be streamed on up to three devices simultaneously, but limits can vary by content and plan rules.
  8. Recheck sports add-ons. NFL+ Premium, MLB.TV, and WWE-related access have separate terms, rights, schedules, and availability that can change.

Bottom line

ESPN’s full direct-to-consumer service launched on August 21, 2025, and the key decision is whether you need ESPN+ content or the broader ESPN network lineup. Select costs $12.99 monthly or $129.99 annually and is aimed at ESPN+ viewers. Unlimited costs $29.99 monthly or $299.99 annually and adds the main ESPN networks and listed conference, international, and digital services.

Unlimited is the better fit for broad ESPN coverage, but neither plan guarantees every game or event. Before paying, check the exact event, your location, the current bundle terms, and whether your viewing device supports the ESPN App.
