Yes—but the confirmation applies to the anime, not to a confirmed relaunch of the manga. Toei Animation announced on January 25, 2026, that Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is in production. The project was revealed at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri 40th-anniversary event at Makuhari Messe in Japan.
The new series will follow the original Dragon Ball Super television anime’s Universe Survival Arc and adapt the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc, including Goku, Vegeta, the Galactic Patrol and the villain Moro.
What Toei actually confirmed
Toei’s announcement confirms a new Dragon Ball Super anime project titled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol. It is the first officially confirmed continuation of the television anime since the original series ended its broadcast run in 2018.

The announcement describes the project as following the anime’s Universe Survival Arc, which aired from 2015 to 2018. The continuation is expected to cover the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc from the manga, a storyline centered on the ancient planet-devouring villain Moro and the Galactic Patrol’s conflict with him.

Toei’s official title information credits:
Original Work, Story & Character Design: Akira Toriyama
That is a franchise and source-material credit. The announcement does not say that Toriyama created new material for this production after his death, nor does it establish that the new anime is based on a posthumous story written by him.
There is no release date yet
Toei has confirmed that The Galactic Patrol is in production, but the announcement does not provide a premiere date. It also does not name an episode count, broadcast season, complete production staff or a new cast lineup.

Do not confuse it with Dragon Ball Super: Beerus
Toei has also announced Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, which is scheduled to premiere in Japan in fall 2026. That project is not the new continuation.
Beerus is an enhanced edition of the existing 2015–2018 Dragon Ball Super television anime. According to the official announcement, it will use revised and newly rendered material, newly recorded dubbing, additional music and sound effects, and a reconstructed version of the earlier story.
The difference is important:
- Dragon Ball Super: Beerus: a reworked presentation of existing anime material, scheduled for fall 2026 in Japan.
- Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol: a brand-new anime project that continues the television story beyond the original broadcast.
What this means for the manga
The anime announcement does not confirm that the Dragon Ball Super manga is resuming.

Although the listing says the series “continues,” it does not provide a Chapter 105 release date or an official date for the manga’s serialization to resume.

The latest collected volume is Volume 24, released in Japan on April 4, 2025. The official Dragon Ball site says the volume completes the Super Hero arc and includes previously untold material connected to the Red Ribbon Army battle.
A special one-shot was announced for the April issue of V Jump in February 2025. That was an announcement for a special chapter, not confirmation of a new ongoing arc or a regular monthly return.
Why Toriyama’s credit needs context
Akira Toriyama died on March 1, 2024, at age 68, from an acute subdural hematoma. His death was announced by Shueisha, the V Jump editorial department and his companies on March 8, 2024.
The manga’s last regular chapter before the hiatus was Chapter 103. Chapter 104 later appeared as a special one-shot, and official English listings currently stop there.

New official announcements may continue to list Toriyama as the original creator, story contributor or character designer. That does not, by itself, answer questions about who wrote new material after his death. It also does not prove that he personally produced unseen posthumous story content for The Galactic Patrol.
Claims that are not confirmed
Based on the current official announcements, the following statements should not be presented as established facts:
- “Chapter 105 has been scheduled.”
- “The manga will return on” a specific date.
- “The Black Frieza arc has officially begun.”
- “Toyotarou has been officially confirmed as the sole writer of a new post-Toriyama manga arc.”
The accurate distinction is straightforward:
- The anime is continuing: Toei is producing Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol.
- An older anime story is being enhanced: Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is planned for fall 2026 in Japan.
- The manga has no confirmed restart: no official Chapter 105 date or new ongoing serialization has been announced as of August 8, 2026.
