2. C# software records and organizes sequences
The program is written in C#. It can record input, let the creator select commonly used sequences, combine them into macros, and assign a macro to a button. In practical terms, a button press can trigger a previously assembled sequence instead of requiring every input to be made manually.
3. A circuit presses buttons on the console-side controller
The hardware modifies a second Xbox controller so the circuit can electrically actuate its buttons. Hackaday reports one transistor per button and a PIC 18F4550 microcontroller, which controls the circuit and provides USB connectivity with the PC. The modified controller remains the link to the console.

Search Amazon for a PIC18F4550 microcontroller if you are identifying the specific chip mentioned in the project.
