Sometimes—but not universally. Asta 2026.3 adds native project and portfolio dashboards in Asta Vision, so organizations already scheduling work in Asta may be able to retire a separate business-intelligence or programme-reporting layer. That release does not prove that Asta can replace every dedicated project-management platform. Asta is built around construction scheduling and project controls; a replacement decision depends on whether your team also needs broad cross-department work management, workflow automation, collaboration, or projects outside construction.
The practical test is to map the jobs your current tool performs, then check each one against Powerproject, Vision, Connect, and your integrations. Consolidation is credible when reporting is the main reason you keep another product. It is risky when that product is the shared system for assigning work, coordinating non-construction teams, or running general-purpose processes.
What changed in Asta 2026.3?
Eleco announced Asta 2026.3 on 21 October 2026 for the UK and Ireland. The release updates Asta Powerproject and Asta Vision, with the most relevant change being a native dashboard framework in Asta Vision for project and portfolio reporting.
Native dashboards and historical programme information
The announced dashboard views cover programme reliability, schedule health, and critical-path performance. Asta Vision also retains richer historical programme information while preserving existing reports, calculations, and workflows. That combination is designed to show how dates and programme conditions change over time instead of forcing staff to assemble snapshots manually.

Eleco presents the feature as a way to identify issues earlier and focus management attention. Those are product objectives, not independently measured improvements. No published independent study establishes a particular percentage reduction in reporting time, cost, or project delays.
Connectivity and baseline controls
The release also describes native Primavera P6 interoperability add-ins, data validation, and smarter baseline change detection. These additions matter if your reporting process depends on exchanging schedules between planning systems or explaining why a baseline moved. Confirm the exact add-in, file, and version support in your environment before retiring an existing integration.

Asta is a family of connected products rather than one general-purpose task list. Understanding each product prevents a dashboard feature from being mistaken for complete project-management coverage.

Powerproject is the family’s construction-oriented scheduling and project-controls application. Elecosoft describes hierarchical schedules, configurable views and reports, scenario simulation, cost visibility, resource planning, risk analysis, and schedule checks against company or industry standards. It can exchange Microsoft Project and Oracle Primavera files and connect with Bidcon, enterprise-resource-planning systems, and building-information-modelling tools.
These capabilities address the difficult planning questions in a construction programme: which activities drive completion, what happens if a sequence changes, where resources are constrained, and how cost or risk moves with the schedule. They are deeper than the timeline features found in many lightweight work-management products.

Asta Vision: portfolio information and dashboards
Asta Vision is the portfolio and reporting layer receiving the 2026.3 dashboard framework. Elecosoft describes portfolio KPI monitoring, drill-down from summary to project detail, configurable views, information sharing, and connected workflows. The new release makes Vision more relevant when your existing “project-management” product is primarily a reporting shell around Asta schedules.
Asta Connect: collaborative execution
Connect covers a more collaborative execution layer. Teams can import or create a master schedule, organize tasks, assign teammates, define dependencies and deadlines, use pull planning, monitor performance, and receive system notifications. It is aimed at construction coordination and pull-planning practices, not at every possible department-wide workflow.

The broader family includes Powerproject 4D, Enterprise, and SiteProgress. Their availability, permissions, integrations, and commercial packaging can vary by market and deployment. Treat the family as a set of components to validate, not as proof that every function in your current platform exists in one license.
Can Asta Vision replace a separate business-intelligence or reporting tool?
For some existing Asta customers, yes. If the separate product mainly turns Asta schedules into portfolio dashboards, the native Vision framework could remove a reporting dependency and reduce duplicate data preparation.
When consolidation is a strong fit
- Your authoritative schedules already live in Powerproject or another connected Asta planning workflow.
- Executives need programme reliability, schedule-health, and critical-path views rather than a broad analytics warehouse.
- Users need to drill from portfolio KPIs into project details and review how programme dates changed historically.
- Reports, calculations, and access controls can be reproduced in Vision without losing an essential audit trail.
When a specialist BI layer may still be justified
- You combine construction schedules with finance, sales, procurement, safety, or workforce data from unrelated systems.
- Analysts require custom modelling, enterprise data governance, advanced statistical analysis, or dashboards shared far beyond project stakeholders.
- Your reporting tool is also used for regulatory disclosures or corporate metrics that do not originate in Asta.
The 2026.3 announcement says Vision can provide project and portfolio reporting without a separate BI tool; it does not establish that it replaces an enterprise-wide analytics platform.

Can Asta replace a broader dedicated project-management platform?
Only after a workflow-by-workflow assessment. Asta documents substantial planning and construction coordination functionality, but the available evidence does not establish parity with every general project-management platform.

Work that Asta is well positioned to absorb
- Baseline-driven construction programmes with logic-linked activities and critical paths.
- Resource, cost, risk, and scenario analysis tied to the schedule.
- Construction-team task coordination, dependencies, deadlines, notifications, and pull planning.
- Portfolio reporting that depends on programme data and historical schedule changes.
Work that needs explicit proof before migration
- Cross-functional work unrelated to construction planning, such as marketing, legal, product, or customer operations.
- General workflow automation, forms, approvals, intake queues, and service-level tracking.
- Large communities of occasional users who need simple self-service task updates.
- Document collaboration, chat, knowledge management, or meeting workflows that are central to your current platform.
- Portfolio capacity planning across departments with different calendars, work types, and governance rules.
If these functions are the reason you bought a dedicated platform, a dashboard upgrade alone is not a replacement case. You may still consolidate reporting while keeping the execution system.
What should you compare before consolidating tools?
Use the same real projects, users, and outputs in both systems. The following dimensions expose gaps that a feature checklist can miss.

How do you decide whether consolidation is realistic?
Run the decision as a controlled comparison rather than a feature-count exercise.
- Inventory the current tool. List every active workflow, report, integration, notification, approval, user group, and data export. Mark each item as essential, useful, or obsolete.
- Separate planning from execution. Identify which needs are schedule-control needs and which are general work-management needs. This prevents Vision dashboards from being judged as if they were an intake or automation engine.
- Map each requirement to an Asta component. Record whether Powerproject, Vision, Connect, another family product, or a verified integration supplies the capability. If the answer is “custom development” or “manual workaround,” flag it as a migration risk.
- Use representative data. Load a live or recent programme containing baselines, changes, resource constraints, risks, and cross-project dependencies. Test the historical view, critical-path reporting, and the executive dashboard—not just a clean demonstration schedule.
- Test interoperability. Exchange the exact Microsoft Project or Primavera files your planners use. Check codes, calendars, activity IDs, baselines, cost fields, and update frequency. Repeat the test after a controlled change.
- Run role-based sessions. Have a planner, project manager, site coordinator, portfolio executive, finance user, and occasional contributor complete their normal tasks. Record clicks, permissions, handoffs, and unresolved questions.
- Define exit criteria. Before switching off anything, agree which reports must match, which integrations must be reliable, what response time is acceptable, and how failed imports or missing history will be recovered.
- Choose full, partial, or no consolidation. A partial outcome—Asta for scheduling and execution, Vision for programme reporting, and a separate general-work platform for other departments—may deliver most of the benefit with less operational risk.
What are the practical signs that Asta can replace your current tool?
Positive signals
- Most users work on construction programmes and already trust Asta schedule data.
- The duplicated product exists mainly to create portfolio packs, KPI dashboards, or schedule commentary.
- Your required reports fit programme reliability, schedule health, critical path, progress, and historical change.
- Existing Microsoft Project, Primavera, ERP, estimating, and BIM exchanges can be reproduced and monitored.
- Stakeholders accept a construction-centred interface and governance model.
Warning signals
- More than one business function uses the current platform as a shared work queue.
- Automated approvals, forms, intake, service levels, or complex notifications are business-critical.
- Executives need blended operational data that does not originate in Asta.
- External partners need broad, low-friction collaboration beyond construction coordination.
- No owner is available to maintain schedule templates, dashboard definitions, permissions, and integrations.
What does Asta cost, and why is the published figure not a universal quote?
Elecosoft’s US feature page lists £695 per annum excluding VAT for a single-user subscription. The page is undated, and its US context makes that figure unsuitable as a universal current price. It may not represent UK, Ireland, other regions, multi-user licensing, Vision or Connect components, implementation, support, or partner services.

Request a quote for the exact products, user types, hosting model, region, integrations, training, and renewal terms you need. Ask whether the 2026.3 Vision dashboard framework is available in your market and which version your contract will receive. Do not build a business case on the single-user figure alone.

Reports look different after import
Differences often come from calendars, activity codes, baseline definitions, or field mappings rather than from the dashboard itself. Freeze a reference export, document the source calculations, and reconcile a sample of projects line by line before changing executive reporting.
Historical information is incomplete
Confirm which historical programme records can be retained and how they are indexed. Keep an immutable archive of prior reports and source schedules until the new history has passed an audit review.
Users avoid the new workflow
Assign owners for schedule standards and dashboard definitions, provide role-specific training, and start with a small group of projects. If contributors need capabilities outside construction coordination, keep the existing work-management path for those teams rather than forcing an unsuitable migration.

Require validation results, import logs, exception alerts, and a named support route. Test a deliberately malformed file so the team knows how an error appears and who corrects it.

- Is Asta 2026.3 available for our country, contract, and deployment model?
- Which Vision dashboards, historical fields, permissions, and exports are included in our edition?
- Which Primavera P6 versions and data objects do the native add-ins support?
- Can we preserve existing reports, calculations, baselines, and audit history during migration?
- What are the limits for users, projects, portfolio views, refreshes, storage, and external stakeholders?
- Which Powerproject, Vision, Connect, Enterprise, 4D, or SiteProgress components are required for our workflows?
- What training, technical support, implementation services, and renewal terms apply in our region?
- How are integration failures, permissions changes, and historical corrections logged and recovered?
What is the defensible conclusion?
Asta 2026.3 makes a credible consolidation case for organizations that already use Asta and mainly need project and portfolio intelligence. Native Vision dashboards, historical programme information, and improved connectivity can reduce the need for a separate reporting layer. The evidence does not support a blanket claim that Asta replaces every dedicated project-management platform.
Make the decision against your actual workflows: construction scheduling depth, team execution, cross-functional work, reporting, integrations, governance, and user adoption. In many organizations the best result will be a deliberate split—Asta as the planning and programme-control system, Vision as the reporting layer, and another tool retained only where general work management is genuinely required.

Who should own Asta dashboard definitions after rollout?
Assign a named programme-controls or portfolio-governance owner, with representatives from planning and delivery. That owner should control KPI definitions, templates, permissions, change logs, and the process for correcting source data.
