The best salon software in 2026 depends on your business model: Vagaro is the strongest broad all-in-one choice for many small and midsize U.S. salons; Fresha suits low-fixed-cost, marketplace-led acquisition; Mangomint fits established teams; Boulevard emphasizes premium client experience; Square Appointments fits Square merchants; and Mindbody or Zenoti serve larger wellness and multi-location operations.

Prices and capabilities vary by country, plan, number of providers, locations, payment volume, messaging usage, add-ons, and contract terms. The prices below were checked against official pages during the August 18, 2026 research pass unless otherwise noted. This comparison separates published vendor information from independent review evidence and does not claim hands-on testing.

Key takeaways

  • Vagaro displays a U.S. offer of $23.99 per month for one bookable calendar, with $30 shown as the standard figure, and includes booking, POS, inventory, memberships, reporting, and marketplace exposure.
  • Square Appointments lists Free, Plus, and Premium plans at $0, $49, and $149 per month per location, with separate payment-processing and messaging costs.
  • Mangomint lists a $120 monthly base price plus $10 per user, while phone, marketing, payroll, and additional locations add separate charges.
  • Boulevard currently displays promotional prices of $140, $234, and $328 per month per location, but its listed standard prices are $176, $293, and $410.
  • Fresha, Mindbody, and Zenoti require careful quote or fee verification because localized pricing, marketplace charges, or sales-led pricing can make headline comparisons misleading.

What is the best salon software in 2026?

For many small and midsize U.S. salons, Vagaro is the best starting point because it combines scheduling, online booking, POS, client records, inventory, memberships, gift certificates, reporting, payment tools, and marketplace exposure at a relatively low published entry price. A salon with a different priority may get better results from another platform:

  • Best broad all-in-one shortlist: Vagaro.
  • Best low-fixed-cost or marketplace-led option: Fresha, after verifying U.S. fees and marketplace economics.
  • Best for an established multi-staff salon: Mangomint.
  • Best for a premium branded client experience: Boulevard.
  • Best for a solo operator already using Square: Square Appointments.
  • Best for wellness businesses and larger organizations: Mindbody.
  • Best for enterprise, franchise, med spa, and complex multi-location operations: Zenoti.
  • Best for a solo beauty professional seeking a polished, simple experience: GlossGenius, subject to direct pricing and feature verification.

These are conditional editorial recommendations, not claims that one product wins every category. A booking calendar, a payment product, a salon operating system, and an enterprise franchise platform should not be judged by the same standard.

Quick comparison: salon software pricing and fit

The following table uses published starting prices where the vendor provides them. “Custom” means the vendor directs the buyer to sales rather than publishing a general price. Unknown fees should be treated as a demo question, not as zero.

Platform Best fit Published price seen Pricing model Discovery POS/payments Payroll Multi-location Main limitation
Vagaro Small and midsize salons $23.99 promotional; $30 displayed standard Per bookable calendar, with possible add-ons Vagaro Marketplace and social booking channels Included platform category; verify rates and hardware Verify plan and integration details Available; verify location pricing Costs scale as providers and add-ons increase
Fresha Solo operators and marketplace-led acquisition Localized currency shown; U.S. figure not confirmed Independent, per-member Team, or custom Enterprise Fresha marketplace Payment fees require verification Verify Enterprise option available Commissions and payment fees can outweigh low fixed cost
Mangomint Established multi-provider salons $120 base plus $10 per user Base subscription plus add-ons and locations Primarily operational and marketing tools Scheduling, payments, and POS included in product scope $50 plus $8 per worker, published separately $120 per additional location Phone, marketing, payroll, and locations increase total cost
Boulevard Premium salons and spas $140, $234, or $328 promotional per location Per-location tiered plans Primarily direct-booking and marketing Verify processing and hardware terms Verify Location-based plans Promotion is limited-time; forms are an add-on
Square Appointments Square merchants and solo operators $0, $49, or $149 per location Free, Plus, or Premium plus processing No beauty-specific marketplace established in the supplied evidence Square POS, readers, Tap to Pay, and online payments Starts at $35 plus $6 per person paid Per-location plans Less salon-specific than dedicated platforms
GlossGenius Solo beauty professionals Verify directly; official pricing was inaccessible in this pass Verify Verify Beauty-focused payments; verify terms Verify Verify Advanced multi-location and enterprise evidence is limited here
Mindbody Wellness, classes, memberships, and larger organizations Custom quote Sales-led and customized Mindbody consumer ecosystem Product scope includes payments and POS-related tools; quote required Verify Enterprise support No straightforward general price table
Zenoti Enterprise, franchises, med spas, and complex groups Custom quote Quote and personalized demo Referrals, reputation, and consumer-facing tools POS and payments included in product scope Payroll included in product scope; processing details require a quote Strong multi-location and franchise positioning Implementation and operational complexity may exceed a small salon’s needs

Booksy and Phorest also deserve demos in the right circumstances. Booksy is especially relevant to barbers and independent professionals seeking consumer discovery, while Phorest is relevant to salons focused on CRM, retention, and marketing. Current U.S. pricing for both products should be obtained directly rather than estimated from unverified third-party figures.

What counts as salon software?

Salon software is more than an online calendar. A serious salon-management platform can connect appointments, staff availability, client history, checkout, payments, inventory, marketing, and reporting in one operating system.

Useful capability areas include:

  • Appointment scheduling, provider calendars, online booking, waitlists, buffers, processing times, and resource management.
  • Client profiles, service history, consultation notes, forms, consent records, and patch-test documentation.
  • POS for services and retail, tips, discounts, refunds, gift cards, packages, memberships, and loyalty.
  • Deposits, cards on file, cancellation policies, no-show protection, and recurring payments.
  • Inventory, purchase orders, retail reporting, and product-level sales analysis.
  • Staff commissions, time tracking, payroll processing, payroll export, or payroll integrations.
  • SMS, email, automated reminders, rebooking campaigns, lapsed-client marketing, reviews, referrals, and segmentation.
  • Accounting, payroll, website, social-media, payment-hardware, and other third-party integrations.
  • Multi-location administration, centralized reporting, permissions, franchise controls, and branded apps.
  • Phone, chat, or AI receptionist features, where offered.

A basic booking app may be excellent for a booth renter but inadequate for a salon that needs formulas, rooms, commissions, retail inventory, memberships, or multiple locations.

Which salon software is best for each business type?

Business profile Shortlist Why it belongs on the shortlist Question to resolve
Solo stylist or booth renter GlossGenius, Fresha, Square Appointments, Vagaro Lower entry cost and simpler booking workflows Are payment, messaging, and marketplace fees acceptable?
Small salon with 2–7 providers Vagaro, Mangomint, GlossGenius, Square Team scheduling, POS, and client records Does each provider require a paid calendar or user seat?
Established premium salon Boulevard, Mangomint, Phorest Brand experience, CRM, automation, and structured operations Will premium features replace separate marketing or CRM tools?
Spa or wellness hybrid Mindbody, Vagaro, Zenoti, Boulevard Memberships, resources, wellness workflows, and reporting Are classes, rooms, resources, or recurring memberships essential?
Med spa Zenoti, Mindbody, Vagaro, Mangomint Forms, charting, memberships, reporting, and staff controls Are clinical records and compliance requirements supported at the needed level?
Multi-location or franchise Zenoti, Mindbody, Boulevard, Vagaro Centralized operations, permissions, and reporting Can data, pricing, staff, and promotions be managed centrally?
Acquisition-focused business Fresha, Booksy, Vagaro Consumer marketplace or app exposure What is the net acquisition cost and repeat-booking rate?
Existing Square merchant Square Appointments Payments, POS, booking, and hardware in one ecosystem Will salon-specific scheduling and CRM depth be sufficient?

This is a planning framework, not proof that every product supports every workflow in every country or plan. Confirm the exact plan, payment provider, local tax treatment, and regional availability before signing.

How much does salon software really cost?

The effective monthly cost of salon software is:

Effective monthly cost = subscription + provider, user, or location fees + required add-ons + payment fees + messaging + payroll + hardware + migration and setup costs − savings from canceled tools.

Subscription price is only one part of the decision. A low-cost system can be more expensive if it charges marketplace commissions, requires a specific payment processor, limits included messages, or forces the business to keep separate payroll, phone, marketing, and CRM products.

Published pricing signals checked August 18, 2026

Vagaro

Vagaro’s U.S. pricing page displayed $23.99 per month as an offer for one bookable calendar and $30 per month as the displayed standard figure. Vagaro defines a bookable calendar as a service provider who requires an individual schedule. The same page lists a 30-day free trial, online booking, POS, waitlists, memberships, gift certificates, inventory, reporting, client data, marketplace listing, and booking through Vagaro, Instagram, Facebook, and Apple Maps. Vagaro states that marketplace bookings carry no additional fee and that subscriptions can be canceled at any time without a cancellation fee.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not multiply $30 by the number of providers without checking the exact account configuration. Ask whether every stylist, barber, room, or resource requires a bookable calendar and whether required features are add-ons.

Fresha

Fresha’s public pricing page showed Independent, Team, and Enterprise structures during the research pass. Independent includes one calendar column, while Team includes multiple calendar columns and charges per bookable team member. The page displayed localized currency rather than a clearly U.S.-specific figure, so a U.S. buyer should verify pricing inside the U.S. account or pricing flow.

Fresha can be attractive when marketplace discovery matters, but “free” or low-subscription pricing does not establish a low total cost. Marketplace commissions, payment processing, messaging, and repeat-booking economics must be confirmed and modeled for the salon’s location.

Mangomint

Mangomint lists a $120-per-month base price plus $10 per user. The same pricing page lists a phone add-on starting at $70 per month per line, marketing starting at $30 per month, payroll at $50 per month plus $8 per worker, and additional locations at $120 per month each. Mangomint says onboarding and data transfer are free and that customers can cancel anytime.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mangomint’s published product scope includes scheduling, payments and POS, online booking, client management, memberships, forms and charting, retail, inventory, reporting, multi-location tools, staff management, and integrations. A salon should still price the add-ons it actually needs rather than treating the base subscription as an all-in-one final quote.

Boulevard

Boulevard currently displays promotional prices of $140 per month per location for Essentials, $234 for Premier, and $328 for Prestige. The page lists standard prices of $176, $293, and $410, respectively, and labels the promotion as limited-time and for new customers.

Essentials includes up to five professionals, 100 free texts, 500 free email blasts, and 25 GB of storage. Premier includes unlimited professionals, 250 free texts, 1,000 free email blasts, and 50 GB of storage. Prestige includes 2,500 free texts, 10,000 free email blasts, and 100 GB of storage. Forms are listed as an add-on starting at $65 per month per location, and additional email blasts cost $0.01 per email. Ask whether automated reminders consume the included message allowance and request the post-promotion price in writing.

Square Appointments

Square lists Appointments at $0 per month for Free, $49 per month per location for Plus, and $149 per month per location for Premium. Plus and Premium include a 30-day trial. Square separately lists in-person processing rates of 2.6% + 15¢, 2.5% + 15¢, and 2.4% + 15¢ by plan, and online rates of 3.3% + 30¢, 2.9% + 30¢, and 2.9% + 30¢.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Square’s pricing page also lists text marketing as unavailable on Free, 500 included texts on Plus, and 2,500 included texts on Premium before per-message charges. Square Payroll starts at $35 per month plus $6 per person paid, and hardware options start at $59. Square is compelling for an existing Square merchant, but a salon should test color-service dependencies, provider scheduling, consultation records, commissions, and other beauty-specific workflows before treating the Free plan as sufficient.

Mindbody and Zenoti

Mindbody’s current business pricing page emphasizes unlimited users per location, live customer support, one-on-one setup and training, business education, data-migration support, more than 100 third-party integrations, branded mobile apps, AI Concierge, reporting and analytics, and enterprise customization. The page does not provide a straightforward general price table, so a buyer should request a written quote and contract.

Zenoti directs prospects to a quote and personalized demo. Its product scope includes online booking, POS, gift cards, referrals, forms, charting, memberships, loyalty, AI receptionist, automated waitlists, dynamic pricing, payroll, inventory, marketing, payments, multi-location management, franchise tools, reputation management, and business intelligence. The Zenoti pricing page displays a vendor-reported 4.4/5 rating from GetApp and Software Advice; that figure is a vendor-page claim, not an independently re-collected rating in this article.

Worked cost scenarios: what to calculate

Use the following scenarios when requesting quotes. The scenarios are comparison templates, not complete price estimates, because payment volume, add-ons, and unavailable U.S. prices differ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Business scenario Subscription inputs Variable-cost inputs Questions that change the result
Solo stylist One calendar, user, or location Payment processing, texts, hardware, marketplace fees Is a free or low-cost plan enough for deposits, cards on file, forms, and rebooking?
Three-provider salon Three calendars or users plus one location Processing, messaging, payroll, inventory, add-ons Does the vendor charge per provider, per calendar, or per location?
Seven-provider salon Seven calendars or users plus team features Higher payment volume, campaigns, payroll, phone, hardware Does a higher tier remove seat limits or add required functionality?
Two-location business Two location fees plus centralized administration Duplicate hardware, messaging, payroll, migration, reporting Are locations priced independently, and can corporate reporting combine them?

For marketplace-led acquisition, calculate net acquisition cost = marketplace commission + payment fees + discounts + staff time − contribution margin from the first visit and repeat visits. A marketplace client is profitable only if the first appointment and expected retention justify the acquisition cost.

Which platforms can bring in new salon clients?

Salon software can either manage existing customers, help acquire new customers, reactivate lapsed customers, or respond to leads. Those functions are different.

Acquisition type Examples What it does Risk to investigate
Marketplace Fresha, Booksy, Vagaro, Mindbody Lists appointments or businesses where consumers search Commission, ranking rules, discounts, and whether clients return directly
Direct booking Website, Google, Instagram, Facebook, Apple Maps Routes existing traffic to the salon’s own booking page The salon must generate and convert its own traffic
CRM marketing Mangomint, Boulevard, Vagaro, Mindbody, Zenoti Reactivates lapsed customers and encourages rebooking Message limits, consent, segmentation, and overage pricing
Lead response Phone, SMS, chat, or AI receptionist features Attempts to convert calls, texts, web inquiries, or missed calls What the automation can actually answer, book, or escalate

Ask every marketplace vendor four questions: How many new clients book in this area? What commission or fee applies to a new client? Does the client become a first-party customer record? Can the business export the record and direct the customer to its own booking link afterward?

Fresha’s marketplace is a major reason cost-sensitive businesses consider the product. Booksy’s consumer discovery model is particularly relevant to barbers and independent beauty professionals. Vagaro lists marketplace exposure and social booking channels. Mindbody emphasizes a broader consumer and wellness ecosystem. None of those facts guarantees profitable leads in a particular city.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How capable is the scheduling engine?

The scheduling engine determines whether the software reflects real salon operations or merely places appointments on a calendar. During a demo, test the following workflows:

  • Book a 90-minute color service with a 15-minute processing time.
  • Add buffers before and after services.
  • Schedule multiple providers in one appointment.
  • Reserve a room, chair, device, or other resource.
  • Apply provider-specific pricing and availability.
  • Set staff working hours, time off, breaks, and location assignments.
  • Create a waitlist and see how openings are offered.
  • Book recurring appointments and group bookings.
  • Require a deposit and apply cancellation and no-show rules.
  • Control what customers can book online.
  • Handle walk-ins and rebooking at checkout.
  • Transfer or view appointments across locations.
  • Test mobile usability for both front-desk staff and providers.

Fresha’s public plan description distinguishes one calendar column on Independent from multiple calendar columns on Team. That distinction illustrates why “supports scheduling” is not enough: the buyer needs to know how many calendars, resources, rules, and provider dependencies are included in the selected plan.

What does POS and payment integration really mean?

POS integration means more than accepting a card. Compare whether each platform supports service and retail sales, tips, split tender, refunds, deposits, cards on file, gift cards, packages, memberships, discounts, taxes, offline payments, Tap to Pay, readers, cash drawers, receipt printers, accounting exports, payout timing, and chargeback handling.

Square provides the clearest published payment detail in this dossier. Square’s current Appointments page documents card-present, online, card-on-file, ACH, Afterpay, gift-card, and hardware-related fee categories, in addition to the plan-specific processing rates listed above.

Ask whether the software requires the vendor’s payment processor, whether processing rates are negotiable, whether cards on file can move to another processor, who handles chargebacks, when funds are paid out, and what happens to payment data after cancellation. A lower subscription price may be offset by processor lock-in or higher transaction costs.

What CRM and marketing features are included?

CRM and marketing features should be evaluated by the work they automate, not by the word “marketing” in a feature list. Test client notes, consultation history, birthday and anniversary campaigns, rebooking reminders, lapsed-client campaigns, two-way texting, email, reviews, loyalty, referrals, promotions, segmentation, consent management, and message reporting.

Mangomint lists marketing as a separate add-on starting at $30 per month. Boulevard lists different included text and email allowances by tier and says additional email blasts cost $0.01 per email. Ask whether appointment reminders count against allowances, whether automated messages are included, whether unused credits roll over, and what overage charges apply.

A useful demo test is: identify clients who have not returned in 90 days, exclude clients without marketing consent, send a campaign, track delivery and bookings, and show the exact cost. A product that stores client data but cannot segment and activate that data may not replace a dedicated marketing system.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does salon software include payroll and commissions?

“Supports payroll” can mean full payroll processing, commission calculations, payroll reporting, or an export to another payroll provider. Those are materially different services.

Ask whether the platform handles commission by service and product, tiered commissions, booth rent, hourly pay, tips, split commissions, adjustments, refunds, payroll exports, integrated payroll, contractor reporting, multiple pay periods, time clocks, and state-specific compliance.

Mangomint publishes payroll at $50 per month plus $8 per worker, but the buyer should still confirm whether that product provides payroll tax filing and payment or only payroll-related calculations and processing. Square publishes payroll starting at $35 per month plus $6 per person paid. Do not assume either price includes every state, filing, employee, contractor, or add-on requirement.

How do reviews compare with vendor testimonials?

Review evidence should be separated into four categories: numerical ratings on platforms such as G2, Capterra, GetApp, and Software Advice; recurring review themes; vendor testimonials; and editorial testing. A vendor testimonial is marketing material, and an editorial should not claim hands-on testing unless the writer actually used the software.

For every review score, record the collection date, platform, geography, review count, verification status, product category, and whether the reviews cover salon software specifically or a broader wellness product. Look for clusters of complaints about billing, support, outages, migration, payment issues, reliability, reporting, and usability. A review written before a major product change may not describe the current experience.

Zenoti’s current pricing page displays a vendor-reported 4.4/5 rating from GetApp and Software Advice. That number should be attributed to Zenoti’s page and dated when published; it should not be presented as a fresh independent survey. Current comparison coverage also conflicts, and at least one 2026 comparison article discloses that its publisher built a platform included in the comparison. The disclosed vendor relationship is a reason to treat the article’s rankings and feature claims as commercial evidence, not neutral testing.

How difficult is migration between salon platforms?

Migration is not complete when a customer spreadsheet imports successfully. A full migration review must cover customer records, appointment history, future appointments, packages, memberships, gift-card balances, product catalog, inventory counts, staff profiles, commission rules, forms, consent records, payment tokens, website links, and social booking integrations.

Mindbody explicitly advertises data-migration support and one-on-one setup and training. Mangomint states that onboarding and data transfer are free. Those statements describe vendor offerings, not proof that every record type will transfer without loss.

Payment tokens are a particular risk because card-on-file credentials are often tied to the original payment processor. Customers may need to enter payment details again after switching. Gift cards, memberships, consent forms, appointment history, and recurring payments also require a sample migration test before the old system is canceled.

Switching checklist

  • Export all available data from the old platform and request the export format in writing.
  • Reconcile customers, future appointments, gift cards, memberships, packages, and outstanding balances.
  • Ask whether payment tokens and cards on file can migrate securely.
  • Run a sample import and compare records manually.
  • Operate both systems in parallel during the highest-risk transition period.
  • Notify customers about new booking links, passwords, payment-entry requirements, and policies.
  • Update the website, Google Business Profile, Instagram, Facebook, Apple Maps, email templates, and QR codes.
  • Train front-desk staff and providers on booking, checkout, refunds, rebooking, and outage procedures.
  • Confirm how the old vendor handles data export, gift-card liability, cancellation, and final billing.

What are the biggest salon-software failure modes?

  • Per-calendar pricing: A platform that is inexpensive for one provider may become less attractive when every provider requires a paid calendar.
  • “Free” marketplace software: A commission on one new-client booking can exceed a monthly subscription, especially when discounts and payment fees are included.
  • Promotional pricing: Boulevard’s displayed prices are labeled limited-time promotional rates, so the standard price must be included in the budget.
  • Localized pricing: Fresha’s public page displayed localized currency during this research pass; a U.S. buyer should not assume a displayed non-U.S. amount applies domestically.
  • Capped messaging: Text and email allowances may be too small for frequent campaigns, and automated reminders may consume the allowance.
  • Payroll ambiguity: A commission report or payroll export is not necessarily payroll tax filing and compliance.
  • Incomplete migration: A CSV import may omit gift-card balances, forms, memberships, appointment history, or payment tokens.
  • Review-score context: A high rating from a broad wellness category may not predict performance in a busy color salon.
  • Overbuilt workflows: Permissions, charting, and reporting can improve control while making simple booking and checkout slower.
  • Outage dependence: Ask how the system handles internet loss, duplicate appointments, delayed SMS, failed recurring payments, payment-terminal outages, data restoration, and support escalation.

Which salon software should you demo first?

Start with a shortlist of two or three platforms that match your operating model rather than booking ten generic demos.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Choose Vagaro first if you want broad functionality, marketplace exposure, and a relatively low published starting price for a small or midsize salon.
  2. Choose Fresha first if consumer discovery and low fixed subscription cost matter more than predictable acquisition costs, but verify the U.S. fee model.
  3. Choose Mangomint first if you have an established team and need deeper salon workflows, forms, inventory, reporting, and automation.
  4. Choose Boulevard first if premium branding and client experience justify a higher location-based subscription and the promotion’s expiration is acceptable.
  5. Choose Square Appointments first if Square already handles your payments and the salon’s scheduling and CRM requirements are straightforward.
  6. Choose Mindbody first if your business combines salon services with classes, wellness memberships, branded apps, or a larger support requirement.
  7. Choose Zenoti first if you operate a franchise, med spa, enterprise salon, or complex multi-location group that can support custom implementation.
  8. Request a GlossGenius, Booksy, or Phorest demo when solo beauty branding, consumer discovery, or salon-focused retention is central to the decision.

Final verdict

There is no universal best salon software in 2026. Vagaro is the strongest broad default for many small and midsize U.S. salons; Fresha is worth testing for marketplace-led acquisition; Mangomint is a stronger operational fit for established teams; Boulevard is aimed at premium client experience; Square Appointments is the practical choice for Square merchants; and Mindbody or Zenoti become more appropriate as wellness, enterprise, franchise, and multi-location complexity increases.

Before choosing, compare the effective monthly cost at your actual provider count, payment volume, message volume, payroll needs, and number of locations. Then run the same scheduling, checkout, commission, marketing, export, migration, and outage tests in every demo. The best choice is the platform that fits the salon’s workflow and remains profitable after fees—not the product with the most impressive “best overall” label.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best salon software for a small salon in 2026?

Vagaro is the strongest broad starting point for many small U.S. salons because its published feature set covers scheduling, online booking, POS, client management, inventory, memberships, reporting, and marketplace exposure. Compare the final cost for every bookable provider and required add-on before subscribing.

Is Fresha really free for salons?

Fresha should not be evaluated as simply free because total cost can include per-team-member pricing, payment fees, messaging, and marketplace-related charges. Fresha’s public pricing page displayed localized currency during the research pass, so U.S. salons should verify the current U.S. pricing and fee flow directly.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How much does salon software cost per month?

Published prices in this comparison range from $0 for Square Appointments Free to $149 per location for Square Premium, while Mangomint lists $120 plus $10 per user and Boulevard displays promotional rates from $140 per location. Payment processing, messaging, payroll, hardware, marketplace commissions, and add-ons can materially increase the effective monthly cost.

What should I test before buying salon software?

Test a real service with processing time, provider-specific availability, deposits, cancellation rules, waitlists, checkout, retail, gift cards, memberships, split payments, commissions, lapsed-client marketing, data export, and an internet or payment outage. Request written pricing, contract terms, migration details, and all overage charges.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Demo Vagaro for broad all-in-one value, Fresha for marketplace discovery, Mangomint for established teams, Boulevard for premium presentation, Square Appointments for Square merchants, and Mindbody or Zenoti for larger wellness and multi-location operations. Choose only after modeling provider fees, payment processing, messaging, payroll, hardware, marketplace commissions, migration, and post-promotion pricing.
