The confirmed hardware update is Apple Vision Pro with M5, announced on October 15, 2025. Apple Intelligence is available on Vision Pro through visionOS 27, with feature, language, and regional limits. Reports about a successor suggest a substantial wait, but they do not establish a release year.
Is Apple Vision Pro 2 a real, announced product?
No. In Apple’s published Vision Pro announcements and newsroom material reviewed through October 4, 2026, there is no product announcement or launch date for a device called Apple Vision Pro 2. The name is commonly used to ask about a possible successor, but it should not be mistaken for an announced product.
The currently confirmed headset is Apple Vision Pro with M5, announced in October 2025. It is a refresh of the existing Vision Pro, not a product Apple calls Vision Pro 2.
What changed with the M5 Vision Pro?
Apple says the M5 refresh improves performance, display rendering, AI-powered workflows, and battery life compared with the M2 Vision Pro. It ships with visionOS 26 and includes a Dual Knit Band. At announcement, Apple listed a U.S. starting price of $3,499 and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

What Apple’s performance figures mean
Apple’s headline speed figures come from specific company-run tests; they are not guarantees that every app or task will run faster by the same amount.
- Up to 2x faster text-to-image generation: Apple reported this result in a Draw Things test comparing preproduction M5 hardware with production M2 hardware. The test used named prerelease versions of the app and a specified model and configuration.
- Up to 1.5x faster spatial-scene creation in Photos: Apple reported this comparison against the M2 model in a specific test.
- Battery life: Apple said it was extended but did not establish a general numeric improvement in the cited announcement. Actual battery life varies with settings, use, network conditions, and other factors.
These are Apple-reported results, not independent benchmarks. Apple’s published figures and test qualifications should be read as applying to the stated tasks and conditions.

Does Apple Vision Pro have Apple Intelligence?
Yes. Apple’s September 14, 2026 update says the next generation of Apple Intelligence is available on Vision Pro with visionOS 27. Apple lists the most powerful on-device model and expressive voices specifically for Apple Vision Pro (M5). Availability depends on language and region, and Apple says Siri AI and other new Apple Intelligence features are unavailable in China while it works through regulatory requirements.
Apple’s release describes capabilities spanning image editing, Safari browsing tools, Image Playground, communication and scheduling, Shortcuts creation, and accessibility. That does not mean every feature works identically on every Apple platform: individual features can have their own device and software requirements, so check the requirements for the particular feature you want to use.

Siri AI and usage limits
Apple previewed its next-generation Apple Intelligence and Siri AI in June 2026, initially saying Siri AI would arrive as a beta later that year for supported devices set to English, with additional language support planned. Its later September update describes the next generation of Apple Intelligence as available with visionOS 27, subject to the limits above.
Apple says some features that use server-side models have daily usage limits. It has said expanded access will be available for a fee in the future, but the cited release does not give a price or identify a Vision Pro-specific subscription plan.

When could a Vision Pro successor launch?
There is no confirmed date. Two 2026 reports describe uncertain and not fully aligned roadmaps, so they should be treated as reporting about Apple’s possible plans rather than a launch schedule.
- May 11, 2026: MacRumors reported that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman did not expect a new Vision Pro-style device for “around two more years at least.” The report also said a successor apparently was not in active development at that time.
- June 3, 2026: 9to5Mac described analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s revised roadmap, which retained two smart-glasses products but no Vision Pro successor. The same article noted Gurman had separately described a slimmer, lighter successor that might arrive in 2028 or 2029.
The reports do not establish a reliable release year. In particular, “around two more years at least” is not a promise of a 2028 launch; product plans can change, and Apple has not confirmed either timeframe.

Should you buy the M5 Vision Pro or wait?
This is a choice between a product Apple has announced and an unannounced possibility, not a spec-by-spec comparison. The M5 model is the confirmed current hardware, with Apple Intelligence features available through visionOS 27 subject to their requirements. A successor’s specifications, price, availability, and timing have not been announced.
| If your priority is… | What the current information supports |
|---|---|
| Using Vision Pro sooner | The M5 Vision Pro is the confirmed refresh announced in October 2025. |
| Knowing the price and storage options | Apple listed a U.S. starting price of $3,499 and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options at the M5 model’s announcement. Check current pricing and availability before buying. |
| Getting a newer generation | There is no confirmed successor, specification list, price, or release date. Waiting could mean a substantial delay, and reports do not settle when or whether a successor will arrive. |
If your decision depends on a specific future feature or a confirmed launch window, there is not enough official information to make waiting a predictable plan. If the M5 model meets your needs now, it is the only confirmed M5-generation Vision Pro described here.
