AMD’s current Ryzen catalog spans desktop CPUs and APUs, laptop processors, AI PCs, gaming handhelds, commercial Ryzen PRO systems, embedded hardware, and Threadripper workstations. The newest consumer families listed by AMD as of August 9, 2026 are Ryzen AI 400 desktop, Ryzen 9000 desktop, Ryzen AI Max and AI 400 mobile, and the Ryzen Z2 handheld series.
This is a catalog rather than a best-CPU ranking. In this article, current means that AMD still lists a processor in its current product database or family pages. That does not guarantee broad retail availability: some models are regional, OEM-only, business-channel, embedded, or legacy products that remain supported but are no longer sensible mainstream recommendations.
AMD does not maintain one short, human-readable page containing every Ryzen model. The authoritative source for a last-minute check is AMD’s live Processor Specifications database, supplemented by AMD’s desktop, laptop, and handheld catalogs.

Ryzen 9000 desktop processors
Ryzen 9000 is AMD’s Zen 5 mainstream desktop family. The following models are listed in AMD’s current desktop table.
| Model | Cores / threads | Base / boost | Default TDP | Graphics |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition | 16 / 32 | 4.3 / up to 5.6 GHz | 200 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 9 9950X3D | 16 / 32 | 4.3 / up to 5.7 GHz | 170 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 9 9950X | 16 / 32 | 4.3 / up to 5.7 GHz | 170 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 9 9900X3D | 12 / 24 | 4.4 / up to 5.5 GHz | 120 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 9 9900X | 12 / 24 | 4.4 / up to 5.6 GHz | 120 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 7 9850X3D | 8 / 16 | 4.7 / up to 5.6 GHz | 120 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 8 / 16 | 4.7 / up to 5.2 GHz | 120 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 7 9700X | 8 / 16 | 3.8 / up to 5.5 GHz | 65 W | Radeon Graphics |
| Ryzen 7 9700F | 8 / 16 | 3.8 / up to 5.5 GHz | 65 W | Discrete GPU required |
| Ryzen 5 9600X | 6 / 12 | 3.9 / up to 5.4 GHz | 65 W | Radeon Graphics |

| Ryzen 5 9500F | 6 / 12 | 3.8 / up to 5.0 GHz | 65 W | Discrete GPU required |
All Ryzen 9000 desktop processors use AM5. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is a distinct dual-3D-V-Cache design, not merely a slightly higher-clocked 9950X3D. AMD lists 16 cores, 32 threads, 192 MB of L3 cache and a 200 W default TDP; AMD’s launch material describes 208 MB of total cache when the complete cache hierarchy is counted. See AMD’s product page and launch announcement.
The F models are not lower-cost substitutes if you need a display output from the processor: AMD specifies that the Ryzen 7 9700F and Ryzen 5 9500F require a discrete graphics card. Default TDP is a processor specification, not a guarantee of actual wall power or cooling demand.
Ryzen 8000 desktop processors
Ryzen 8000 desktop models are primarily APUs and compact-system parts. Unlike the chiplet-oriented Ryzen 7000 and 9000 desktop CPUs, the 8000G family emphasizes useful integrated graphics.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 7 8700G | G APU | Integrated graphics-focused desktop processor | AM5 |
| Ryzen 7 8700F | F CPU | Discrete graphics required | AM5 |
| Ryzen 5 8600G | G APU | Integrated graphics-focused desktop processor | AM5 |
| Ryzen 5 8500G | G APU | Integrated graphics-focused desktop processor | AM5 |
| Ryzen 5 8400F | F CPU | Discrete graphics required | AM5 |
| Ryzen 3 8300G | G APU | Radeon 740M integrated graphics; one Zen 4 complex plus three Zen 4c cores | AM5 |
The Ryzen 3 8300G illustrates why the series number alone is not enough: its integrated Radeon 740M is central to the product, and its mixed Zen 4/Zen 4c configuration differs from a conventional desktop Ryzen design. Do not assume that every Ryzen 8000 processor is faster than every Ryzen 7000 processor; these families make different trade-offs between CPU performance, graphics, power and system cost.
Ryzen 7000 desktop processors
| Tier | Current models | Platform and notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 9 | 7950X3D, 7950X, 7900X3D, 7900X, 7900 | AM5; high-core-count desktop CPUs, with X3D models adding 3D V-Cache |
| Ryzen 7 | 7800X3D, 7700X, 7700 | AM5; X3D model is cache-focused, while the other models are conventional desktop CPUs |
| Ryzen 5 | 7600X, 7600, 7500X3D, 7500F | AM5; the 7500F requires a discrete GPU |
The Ryzen 5 7500X3D is a later addition that older lists often omit. AMD lists it as a 6-core/12-thread AM5 processor with 96 MB of L3 cache, a 65 W default TDP and availability across North America, EMEA and APJ. That regional listing does not mean it is stocked by every retailer. See AMD’s 7500X3D specifications.
The Ryzen 5 7500F is also AM5 and requires a discrete GPU. Standard non-F Ryzen 7000 desktop models may provide basic display graphics, but that should not be confused with the much stronger gaming-oriented integrated graphics in the 8000G family.
Ryzen 5000 desktop processors
Ryzen 5000 remains AMD’s large AM4 and DDR4 catalog. It can be attractive for an existing AM4 system, but individual models may be regional, OEM, limited-channel or difficult to find new.
| Tier | Current catalog models | Platform and status |
|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 9 | 5950X, 5900XT, 5900X | AM4 / DDR4; older mainstream desktop catalog |
| Ryzen 7 | 5800X3D, 5700X3D, 5800XT, 5800X, 5700X, 5700G, 5700 | AM4 / DDR4; mixed CPU and APU designs |
| Ryzen 5 | 5600X3D, 5600GT, 5600X, 5600G, 5600, 5500GT, 5500 | AM4 / DDR4; availability varies considerably by market |
AMD’s 2024 consumer guide and announcement added or highlighted models including the Ryzen 9 5900XT, Ryzen 7 5700X3D and 5800XT, and Ryzen 5 5600GT and 5500GT. Their presence in AMD’s catalog should not be read as a promise of broad current retail supply.
The Ryzen 5 5500 is a useful compatibility warning. AMD lists it as an AM4, Zen 3, 6-core/12-thread processor with PCIe 3.0 and no integrated graphics. It is not equivalent to a Ryzen 5 5600 simply because both have six cores and twelve threads. Consult AMD’s 5500 specification page before comparing parts.
Ryzen 4000 desktop processors
The principal Ryzen 4000 desktop entries still present in AMD’s current catalog are:
| Model | Type | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 7 4700G | Integrated-graphics APU | Older, OEM or limited-channel |
| Ryzen 5 4600G | Integrated-graphics APU | Older, OEM or limited-channel |
| Ryzen 3 4300G | Integrated-graphics APU | OEM Only on AMD’s support page |
Ryzen 4000 desktop parts should not be presented as equivalent current retail choices beside new AM5 processors. The Ryzen 3 4300G support page explicitly labels that model OEM Only.
Ryzen desktop platform guide: AM4 versus AM5
| Platform | Common Ryzen families | Memory | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| AM4 | Ryzen 4000 and 5000 desktop CPUs and APUs | DDR4 | Motherboard BIOS support, chipset limitations and the older upgrade path |
| AM5 | Ryzen 7000, 8000G, 9000 and Ryzen AI 400 desktop processors | DDR5 | BIOS version, motherboard chipset, DDR5 cost and cooler compatibility |
A processor can fit the socket physically and still fail to boot without the required BIOS. Check the motherboard manufacturer’s CPU-support list, BIOS version and power-delivery guidance. AM4 and AM5 also use different memory: DDR4 modules cannot be installed in an AM5 board, and DDR5 is not an AM4 upgrade.
Current AMD Ryzen laptop processors
Laptop model numbers are less reliable than desktop model numbers for judging architecture or performance. The same broad series can contain different designs, power ranges and integrated GPUs, while the laptop maker’s cooling system, memory configuration, firmware and power mode can substantially change results.

Ryzen AI Max
AMD’s current laptop catalog lists these Ryzen AI Max models:
- Ryzen AI Max+ 395
- Ryzen AI Max+ 392
- Ryzen AI Max 390
- Ryzen AI Max+ 388
- Ryzen AI Max 385
Ryzen AI Max is a high-end mobile family distinguished by an unusually large integrated GPU and NPU. AMD lists the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 16 cores and 32 threads, Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 graphics compute units, up to 50 NPU TOPS and a 55 W default TDP. Actual laptop performance depends on the manufacturer’s sustained power and cooling implementation.
Ryzen AI 400 mobile processors
AMD’s current Ryzen AI 400 mobile roster is:
| Model | Cores / threads | Radeon graphics | NPU | TDP range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen AI 9 HX 475 | 12 / 24 | Radeon 890M | Up to 60 TOPS | 15–54 W configurable |
| Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 | 12 / 24 | Radeon 890M | Up to 55 TOPS | 15–54 W configurable |
| Ryzen AI 9 465 | 10 / 20 | Radeon 880M | Up to 50 TOPS | 15–54 W configurable |

| Ryzen AI 5 430 | 4 / 8 | Radeon 840M | Up to 50 TOPS | 15–54 W configurable |
These are Zen 5-family mobile processors. The HX 475 and HX 470 are not interchangeable labels: AMD gives them different NPU ratings, 60 TOPS versus 55 TOPS, even though both have 12 cores, 24 threads, Radeon 890M graphics and a maximum boost clock of 5.2 GHz. The specifications come from AMD’s Ryzen AI 400 quick-reference guide.
Ryzen AI 300 mobile processors
The confirmed consumer Ryzen AI 300 models are:
| Model | Design and graphics | NPU |
|---|---|---|
| Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 | 12-core/24-thread Strix Point; Zen 5 and Zen 5c; Radeon 890M | Up to 55 TOPS |
| Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 | 12-core/24-thread Strix Point; Radeon 890M | AI-capable NPU |
| Ryzen AI 7 350 | Ryzen AI 300 mobile family | AI-capable NPU |
| Ryzen AI 5 340 | 6-core/12-thread Krackan Point; Radeon 840M | Up to 50 TOPS |
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 and Ryzen AI 5 340 demonstrate that AI 300 contains more than one underlying design. A family name is not a substitute for checking the exact architecture, GPU and NPU specifications.
Ryzen 200 mobile processors
| Model | Confirmed specifications |
|---|---|
| Ryzen 7 260 | 8 cores / 16 threads, Zen 4, Radeon 780M |
| Ryzen 5 240 | 6 cores / 12 threads, Zen 4, Radeon 760M |
| Ryzen 5 220 | Current Ryzen 200 mobile catalog entry |
| Ryzen 3 210 | Current Ryzen 200 mobile catalog entry |
Ryzen 200 is a particularly important naming trap. The number 200 does not mean that every Ryzen 200 processor is newer or faster than every Ryzen 7000 or 8000 laptop processor. Architecture, power class, integrated graphics, memory and laptop design matter more than the first digit of the model family.
Ryzen 9000 mobile
| Model | Cores / threads | Default / configurable TDP | Cache distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 9 9955HX3D | 16 / 32 | 55 W / 55–75 W | Second-generation 3D V-Cache; 128 MB L3 |
| Ryzen 9 9955HX | 16 / 32 | 55 W / 55–75 W | 64 MB L3 |
AMD identifies both Fire Range models as Zen 5 laptop processors. They are high-power gaming-laptop parts, not direct substitutes for thin-and-light Ryzen AI models. See AMD’s pages for the 9955HX3D and 9955HX.

AMD’s current laptop page continues to list Ryzen 8000, Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 6000 categories. These are broad, multi-SKU families containing consumer, OEM-facing, regional and older designs. A static retailer list is not a reliable way to establish the complete current catalog.
| Family | What can be stated reliably | How to verify a specific model |
|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 8000 | Current laptop family; the Ryzen 7 8840U is a confirmed 8-core/16-thread Zen 4 model with Radeon 780M, 15–30 W configurable TDP and up to 16 NPU TOPS | Check the exact product page and laptop configuration |
| Ryzen 7000 | Current family page category containing multiple architectures, power classes and OEM designs | Use AMD’s Processor Specifications database rather than the series number |
| Ryzen 6000 | Older but still listed laptop family with multiple mobile SKUs | Check exact architecture, graphics, TDP and availability in AMD’s database |
The Ryzen 7 8840U is a good example of why two similarly branded mobile processors need a full specification comparison. Its Zen 4 architecture, Radeon 780M graphics, 15–30 W configurable range and NPU capability are not interchangeable with every Ryzen 7000 or Ryzen AI model.
For the complete, changing SKU list, open AMD’s Processor Specifications database, select the processor category and inspect the exact model’s architecture, package, graphics, NPU, TDP and availability. This is more accurate than silently treating every product page or retailer listing as a current global retail model.
AMD Ryzen Z handheld processors
Ryzen Z processors are designed for gaming handhelds. They should be compared using sustained power, GPU resources, memory bandwidth, cooling and firmware—not just the Z2 or Z1 label.

| Ryzen Z1 | 6 / 12 | Zen 4 | RDNA 3, 4 graphics cores | 9–30 W | Not listed |
The official Ryzen Z catalog shows meaningful architectural differences inside the Z2 family: Z2 Extreme is Zen 5, Z2 is Zen 4, Z2 Go is Zen 3+ and Z2 A is Zen 2. A handheld branded Z2 is therefore not automatically faster than every Z1 Extreme device. The system’s wattage, cooling, memory bandwidth, display resolution, battery and firmware can dominate real-world results.
Ryzen PRO: commercial and business processors
Ryzen PRO is AMD’s commercial line for business laptops and desktops. Ryzen PRO processors belong in a complete Ryzen brand catalog, but they should not be mixed into an ordinary retail buying table. AMD positions them around enterprise security, manageability, fleet deployment and commercial-system support.
Ryzen AI PRO is also separate from consumer Ryzen AI. Similar tier numbers do not make a consumer AI processor and an AI PRO processor interchangeable. Availability is normally determined by PC manufacturers and business channels rather than ordinary boxed-CPU retail.
Use AMD’s Ryzen for Business catalog and its Ryzen AI PRO information when evaluating commercial systems. For an IT purchase, compare the complete laptop or desktop configuration, warranty, management tools, security features and support lifecycle—not only the Ryzen tier.

| Ryzen Embedded V2000 | Zen 2 | 6–8 | FP6 | 10–54 W |
| Ryzen Embedded R2000 | Zen+ | 2–4 | FP5 | 12–54 W |
AMD also maintains newer Ryzen AI Embedded families, including Ryzen AI Embedded P100 and X100 products. For example, the Ryzen AI Embedded P122A belongs in that application-specific category. Use AMD’s Ryzen Embedded catalog and embedded specifications database for exact SKU and lifecycle information.
Ryzen Threadripper
Ryzen Threadripper is AMD’s workstation and HEDT family. It carries the Ryzen name but should not be folded into the mainstream Ryzen 3, 5, 7 and 9 desktop table. Threadripper systems use workstation-specific platforms and are designed for workloads such as professional rendering, simulation, compilation and other heavily threaded tasks.
Threadripper model names and availability change frequently. Check AMD’s processor catalog and Ryzen Threadripper page for the current workstation lineup before specifying a system.

How to decode an AMD Ryzen model number
Ryzen 3, Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9
These are broad performance tiers. Ryzen 9 generally targets the highest mainstream core counts, Ryzen 7 occupies the upper mainstream range, Ryzen 5 is the common midrange tier and Ryzen 3 targets entry-level systems. They are not guarantees of performance across generations or device types. A high-power Ryzen 5 desktop processor can outperform a low-power Ryzen 7 laptop processor in a sustained workload.
The series number
The first digits identify a product family, but they do not reliably identify the underlying architecture. Ryzen 200 mobile processors can be Zen 4, while Ryzen AI 300 and AI 400 mobile families use Zen 5 variants. Ryzen 7000 desktop, laptop and embedded products also do not necessarily share the same design. Always check the exact product page.

Common desktop suffixes
- X: generally a higher-clocked desktop variant. Compare the complete power and boost specifications rather than assuming an X model is always the better value.
- X3D: a processor with 3D V-Cache, generally attractive for gaming and cache-sensitive workloads. It is not automatically the best choice for every creator or heavily threaded workload.
- G: a desktop APU with substantially stronger integrated graphics than the basic display graphics found on many conventional desktop CPUs.
- F: integrated graphics are disabled or absent for the relevant product; a discrete GPU is required.
- GE: a lower-power desktop APU variant.
- GT: refreshed Zen 3 desktop APU branding used on selected Ryzen 5000 models.
A G model is not necessarily the same CPU as a non-G model with a graphics block added. Die design, cache, memory configuration and PCIe implementation can differ substantially.
Laptop suffixes
- U: typically used for lower-power ultraportable processors.
- H: generally a higher-performance mobile class.
- HS: a high-performance mobile class commonly used in thinner systems, with exact power depending on the laptop.
- HX: a high-power mobile class, commonly used in gaming and workstation notebooks.
U, H, HS and HX are power and performance classes, not fixed wattage guarantees. Laptop makers configure sustained power, boost behavior and cooling differently.

How to choose among the current Ryzen platforms
For a new mainstream desktop
Start with AM5, because it supports Ryzen 7000, Ryzen 8000G, Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI 400 desktop processors and uses DDR5. Select the processor according to the workload, then verify motherboard BIOS support, memory compatibility, cooler requirements and graphics needs.
For an existing AM4 computer
Ryzen 5000 is the relevant upgrade family. An AM4 upgrade can avoid the cost of a new motherboard and DDR5, but the motherboard BIOS must support the chosen CPU and the platform has a more limited future upgrade path. A Ryzen 5000 purchase also needs careful price and availability checking because some models are regional or limited-channel.
For gaming without a discrete graphics card
Look at G-series desktop APUs, especially the Ryzen 8000G family, or a laptop with an appropriately capable Radeon iGPU. Do not confuse the basic display graphics on many standard Ryzen 7000 or 9000 desktop processors with gaming-class integrated graphics. F models require a discrete GPU.
For gaming with a discrete graphics card
X3D models are the cache-focused choices to investigate, but value depends on current pricing, game resolution and the rest of the system. A conventional high-core-count Ryzen 9 can be preferable for mixed gaming and professional workloads.
For rendering, compilation and other heavily threaded work
Prioritize sustained core count, cooling, power delivery and application behavior. X3D is not automatically the best option simply because it has more cache. Compare independent benchmarks for the exact workload and remember that boost clocks are specified as up to values, not permanent all-core operating speeds.
For an AI laptop
Compare NPU TOPS, CPU architecture, Radeon graphics, configurable TDP, memory and the complete laptop design. A higher NPU rating does not guarantee faster software because operating-system support, drivers, applications, model compatibility and OEM enablement are required. AMD also notes that some features may not yet be optimized for every Ryzen AI processor.
For a gaming handheld
Compare the complete device rather than the processor name. Sustained wattage, memory bandwidth, cooling, battery size, fan profile, firmware and display resolution often matter as much as the Ryzen Z model. A Z2 system running at a conservative power limit can perform differently from another Z2 system with better cooling and a higher sustained limit.
For a business or industrial system
Choose Ryzen PRO or Ryzen Embedded based on manageability, security, lifecycle, support and system integration requirements. Do not treat an embedded AM5 processor as a normal retail desktop upgrade, and do not rank a commercial PRO model against a consumer model without accounting for its deployment features.

Important current-model qualifications
Current catalog does not mean current retail stock
Use these status categories when reading AMD’s catalog:
| Status | Meaning | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Current consumer | Listed on AMD’s current desktop, laptop or handheld family pages | Reasonable starting point for a new consumer system, subject to price and availability |
| Current catalog/OEM | Listed by AMD but primarily supplied to system builders or manufacturers | Do not assume boxed retail availability |
| Regional | AMD identifies availability only in particular markets such as NA, EMEA or APJ | Check local retailers and AMD’s product-page geography |
| Legacy/support-only | A support or product page remains online although the family is no longer a current mainstream recommendation | Useful for upgrades and driver support, not proof of new retail supply |
| Business or embedded | Designed for commercial or specialized systems | Evaluate the complete OEM or industrial platform |
The Ryzen 3 4300G is an explicit example: AMD’s support page marks it OEM Only. Conversely, the Ryzen 5 7500X3D is listed for several regions but not necessarily universally stocked. A live AMD page alone is not proof that a processor is available everywhere or sold as a boxed retail part.
TDP, boost and AI figures need context
- TDP: use AMD’s wording, such as default TDP or configurable TDP. It is not a complete measurement of real-world power consumption.
- Boost clock: up to values depend on temperature, firmware, power, cooling and workload.
- NPU TOPS: a capability rating, not a universal application benchmark.
- Integrated graphics: the presence of display graphics does not mean the processor is suitable for modern gaming without a discrete GPU.
- Performance claims: vendor benchmarks should be attributed to the vendor and qualified by configuration.
Why older Ryzen lists become inaccurate
- They treat a series number as an architecture label. Ryzen 7000 desktop, laptop and embedded products are not interchangeable categories.
- They list every AMD product page as a current retail recommendation. OEM-only, regional and support-only entries need separate labels.
- They miss late additions. Examples include Ryzen 5 7500X3D, Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition, Ryzen AI 400 mobile, Ryzen Z2 Go, Ryzen Z2 A and new Ryzen AI Embedded products.
- They mix desktop, laptop and handheld tiers. Power, cooling, memory and GPU resources can outweigh the shared Ryzen 5, 7 or 9 branding.
- They treat every Ryzen AI processor as identical. NPU capability differs, and software or OEM support is required.
- They ignore geography. A model can be current in AMD’s database but unavailable in a particular country.
AMD adds, renames, retires and regionalizes products throughout the year. Before buying, verify the exact model in AMD’s Processor Specifications database, then check the motherboard or laptop manufacturer’s compatibility and availability information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ryzen 7000 newer than Ryzen 200?
Not necessarily when comparing laptop processors. AMD’s Ryzen 200 mobile family includes Zen 4 parts, while Ryzen 7000 laptop products span multiple designs and power classes. Compare the exact architecture, cores, graphics, TDP and device configuration instead of relying on the family number.
Recommended Free Tools
Can I install a Ryzen 9000 processor in an AM4 motherboard?
No. Ryzen 9000 desktop processors use AM5 and DDR5, while Ryzen 5000 and many Ryzen 4000 desktop processors use AM4 and DDR4. A new motherboard, memory and potentially a cooler are normally required, and the motherboard BIOS must support the selected processor.
Does an AMD Ryzen F processor need a graphics card?
Yes. AMD’s F desktop models listed here, including Ryzen 7 9700F and Ryzen 5 9500F, require a discrete graphics card. An F suffix indicates that integrated graphics are disabled or absent for the relevant product.
Are Ryzen AI processors automatically faster for every AI application?
No. NPU TOPS describes a hardware capability, but useful acceleration also requires operating-system, driver, application, model and OEM support. Compare the exact NPU rating and software support for the workload you intend to run.
Why is the complete laptop list not as simple as the desktop list?
AMD’s laptop catalog contains many OEM, regional and configurable-power models, and broad families such as Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 8000 include different architectures and designs. AMD’s live Processor Specifications database is the authoritative place to check the complete current SKU set and exact availability.

For a new desktop, AM5 is AMD’s current mainstream platform and includes Ryzen 7000, 8000G, 9000 and Ryzen AI 400. AM4 Ryzen 5000 remains relevant for inexpensive upgrades to existing DDR4 systems. Laptop, handheld, PRO, Embedded and Threadripper models must be evaluated as separate product categories because their architectures, power limits, packages and availability differ. Treat the list above as a dated catalog, and verify the exact model, region, BIOS, memory, graphics requirement and system configuration in AMD’s live database before buying.
