It pairs Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or AMD Ryzen AI configurations with LPCAMM2 memory, a 74 Wh battery, a touchscreen, and a haptic touchpad. Framework says the chassis remains compatible with every Framework Laptop 13 mainboard, including earlier generations—but owners should verify compatibility for each specific part before buying.
What is new in the Framework Laptop 13 Pro?
Framework announced the Laptop 13 Pro on April 21, 2026, describing it as a ground-up redesign of its 13-inch modular laptop. The official product page lists Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series configurations. Other headline features include a 74 Wh battery, LPCAMM2 memory, a full CNC aluminum chassis, a power-optimized touchscreen, and a haptic touchpad. Framework’s announcement and its product page provide configuration details.
For an existing owner, the key point is Framework’s claim that the new chassis works with every Framework Laptop 13 mainboard, including earlier generations. That does not mean every component is interchangeable across every configuration: check the exact upgrade or replacement part’s compatibility before ordering.
How repairable and upgradeable is it?
Framework sells replacement parts through its Marketplace and describes the laptop as designed for repair. The announcement identifies several concrete options:

These options give owners paths to replace or update major assemblies rather than treating the laptop as a sealed unit. They do not establish a repair time, the cost of a repair, or that the Laptop 13 Pro is more repairable than a particular competing model. Framework’s claims have not been accompanied here by an independent repair assessment or a regulator or standards-body repairability score specific to this laptop.
What does “Linux-first” mean for support?
Linux support has different levels; certification, official distribution support, and community support should not be treated as equivalent. Framework says it designed and tested the Intel Laptop 13 Pro for Linux compatibility and calls it its first Ubuntu Certified system. It also offers preloaded Ubuntu configurations. Framework’s Linux support page identifies Ubuntu and Fedora as official partners, with engineering collaboration and official customer support. The Laptop 13 Pro page lists community support for Bazzite, NixOS, Linux Mint, and CachyOS.

Framework says its Linux process includes selecting components for compatibility, providing firmware updates through LVFS, contributing upstream patches where needed, and seeding hardware to distribution partners. Those are the company’s stated development practices, not an independent audit of Linux performance on every distribution or configuration. See Framework’s Linux compatibility and support information for current details.
How long does the battery last?
Framework reports the following battery results from tests it conducted in April 2026. The test machine was an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H model with Intel Arc B390 graphics, a 2.8K touchscreen, 32 GB of memory, and 1 TB of storage. Framework says the tests used Windows 11, 250-nit brightness, a 60 Hz refresh rate, speaker volume at 30%, Dolby Atmos disabled, and wireless enabled.
