Microsoft Office 14 is the version label associated with Microsoft Office 2010. Since support ended, Microsoft no longer provides technical support, bug fixes, security fixes for newly reported or discovered vulnerabilities, or Office 2010 software updates through Microsoft Update. Did Office 2010 stop working on October 13, 2020?
No. Microsoft’s FAQ says, “No, support for Office 2010 was discontinued, but the software continues to function.” The end-of-support date ended Microsoft’s maintenance and support; it did not remotely disable the installed programs. Microsoft: Office 2010 End of Support
Can Office 2010 still connect to Microsoft 365 services?
It may still connect to some Microsoft 365 services, but a connection is not the same as supported compatibility. Microsoft says older Office versions may connect, yet that use is unsupported and can develop unexpected performance or reliability problems. What should Office 2010 users do?
If you use Office at home
Microsoft recommends moving to a newer Office option to get current features, patches, and security updates. Microsoft 365 is one option; unlike a traditional one-time Office license, it is a subscription service. Check Microsoft’s current plan details and system requirements before choosing, since prices, included features, and operating-system requirements can change.
If work or school manages Office
Contact your IT help desk rather than buying or installing a replacement yourself. Your organization may control licensing, supported devices, data migration, and the upgrade schedule.

Before choosing a replacement
- Confirm whether you or an organization manages the installation.
- Decide whether a subscription or one-time license better fits how you work.
- Check that your computer meets the selected product’s current operating-system requirements.
- Consider whether you need cloud storage, collaboration features, or help moving files and settings.
