Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFive dependable Linux terminal techniques cover the essentials: recover commands with Bash history, keep SSH work running in tmux, transfer files with rsync, use sudo deliberately, and check whether systemd manages services on your machine. The available documentation supports these workflows, not a verified list of 35 tips or claims of personal testing.
1. Search Bash history to recover a command
In an interactive Bash session, use the command-line history search to find a command you typed earlier, or inspect the history list. Bash describes history as access to “the list of commands previously typed.” See the GNU Bash manual for the history and command-line editing details.
Bash documents a default HISTSIZE of 500 entries. That is a software default, not a guarantee that every session retains 500 commands: settings such as HISTCONTROL and HISTIGNORE affect what is recorded, and saving also depends on the history file being writable. History is neither a complete audit log nor a private vault. Avoid typing passwords or other secrets directly into commands.
2. Keep SSH work alive with tmux
Start a tmux session before beginning work that should continue if your SSH client disconnects. Detach from the session when you leave; tmux keeps it available so you can reconnect later with tmux attach. The tmux manual describes sessions, detaching, and attaching. A session can also contain multiple windows and panes, each organizing a pseudo-terminal.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
This is useful for work that should keep running independently of the terminal window or connection. It does not guarantee that the underlying process will survive a host shutdown or other system failure.
3. Copy or synchronize files with rsync
rsync can copy files locally or transfer them between a local machine and a remote host. For remote-shell transfers it can use SSH; the program must be available at both endpoints. When updating existing files, its delta-transfer algorithm can send differences rather than retransmitting all file contents. Consult the rsync manual for options and syntax.

Before running a transfer, verify which path is the source and which is the destination, especially when using recursive or deletion-related options. The correct command depends on the directories and outcome you intend; no one invocation is safe for every situation.
4. Use sudo only for the command that needs privilege
sudo runs a command as another user only when the active security policy allows it; that policy also determines whether authentication is required. Before executing a privileged command, check its full command, arguments, and target path. Keep elevation limited to the operation that needs it. sudo does not make a command safe or guarantee that your account is authorized to run it. See the sudo manual.

5. Check whether systemd manages services
On a system that uses systemd, it acts as init when it is the first process (PID 1) during boot and manages userspace services. Linux systems can use other service managers, so do not assume systemd-specific service instructions apply everywhere. Confirm the distribution’s service manager before following instructions that depend on it. See the systemd manual.
