Yes, new-to-streaming episodes of The Office dropped on January 26, 2026—but they are not newly filmed episodes or a revival. Peacock released The Office: Superfan Episodes, Season 9, as extended versions of the sitcom’s original final-season episodes. The cuts add deleted footage, recut scenes, longer character moments, and other material that was not included in the original NBC broadcasts.
Season 9 is also the ninth and final installment of Peacock’s Superfan rollout, meaning the complete nine-season collection of extended episodes is now available through Peacock in the United States, subject to the service’s current catalog and subscription requirements.
What actually dropped?
The Office: Superfan Episodes, Season 9 premiered exclusively on Peacock on January 26, 2026. It revisits the original Season 9 storyline with expanded cuts rather than continuing the story after the 2013 finale.

That distinction matters. NBC’s The Office has not returned with a newly produced continuation, reunion season, or post-finale revival. No new storyline was filmed for this release, and Steve Carell did not return to make a new series as Michael Scott.

Instead, Peacock and NBCUniversal assembled longer versions of episodes that viewers already know. The added material includes:
- Deleted or previously unaired scenes
- Re-cut sequences
- Longer versions of familiar storylines
- Rare bonus moments from the existing series
The result is closer to an expanded home-video cut than to Season 10. The central events remain the events of the original final season: the documentary’s broadcast, Jim and Pam’s marital problems, Dwight’s ambitions in the office, and Michael Scott’s appearance in the series finale.
Why people are calling them “new episodes” 13 years later
The original series finale aired in 2013. Season 9 Superfan Episodes arrived in January 2026, nearly 13 years after The Office left the air. That is the reason headlines describe the release as new episodes arriving 13 years later.

“New” is accurate only in the sense that the extended cuts were newly released to the public as a collection. The underlying stories and performances come from the original production. These are not newly filmed scenes set after the finale.
What is different about the Season 9 cuts?
Peacock’s listings identify extended versions with titles such as:
- New Guys (Extended Cut)
- Here Comes Treble (Extended Cut)
- The Boat (Extended Cut)
- The Whale (Extended Cut)
- The Target (Extended Cut)
The exact amount of added material varies by episode. Several Season 9 extended episodes are listed at roughly 27 to 31 minutes, compared with approximately 21 to 22 minutes for many standard versions of the season. Those runtimes show that the cuts are meaningfully longer, but there is no single uniform runtime that applies to every Superfan episode.

For longtime viewers, the appeal is not simply a few extra minutes. Season 9 contains some of the show’s most consequential late-series developments, so additional footage can provide more context around the documentary crew, Jim and Pam’s relationship, Dwight’s changing role, and the office’s final transition. The added scenes still belong to the original Season 9 narrative, however; they do not resolve the story in a new post-finale direction.

Peacock’s Superfan releases began as expanded versions of earlier seasons. With Season 9 now available, all nine seasons of the original show have received the Superfan treatment.
NBCUniversal described Season 9 as the ninth and final Superfan season and said Peacock was the first place where all nine Superfan seasons could be streamed together. In practical terms, viewers can now choose between the familiar broadcast edits and the expanded versions across the complete series.
Where to watch The Office Season 9 Superfan Episodes
In the United States, the extended Season 9 episodes are on Peacock. The Season 9 Superfan collection is listed for Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus. Subscription names, prices, catalog placement, and availability can change, so check Peacock’s current catalog before subscribing.
As of August 12, 2026, U.S. availability listings also showed the standard The Office series on Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus, with availability through YouTube TV in some listings. Individual standard seasons or episodes were also listed for purchase through digital retailers including Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. Those options should be treated as time-sensitive: a retailer’s listing for the regular broadcast version does not automatically mean it includes the Superfan cuts.
The Superfan Season 9 listing was separately reported as available through Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus, with a digital purchase option listed through the Apple TV Store. Availability outside the United States was not established by the supplied release information, so viewers in other countries should check their local services rather than assume the U.S. Peacock release is available in their region.

Streaming versus buying the complete expanded collection
For viewers who only want to catch up on the final season, Peacock is the straightforward option. For fans who want every extended episode in one home-media package, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment released The Office: The Complete Series – Superfan Extended Episodes on digital platforms and Blu-ray beginning July 14, 2026.
The Blu-ray collection is described as a 30-disc set containing all nine seasons, 194 expanded episodes, and more than 25 hours of footage that was unaired during the original television run. The official technical listing gives the U.S./Canada Blu-ray a total runtime of 101 hours and 20 minutes, English SDH subtitles, and English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Its listed UPC is 191329289419.
If you want the entire expanded project in physical form, The Office Superfan Extended Episodes Blu-ray is the relevant collection to look for—not a standard complete-series set. Check the retailer listing carefully for the format, region, seller, price, and stock status before ordering.
The regular complete-series DVD or Blu-ray releases contain the original broadcast episodes and should not be assumed to include the Superfan edits. Conversely, the Superfan collection should not be described as a guarantee that it contains every version of every deleted scene ever circulated. The official product information confirms the expanded-episode scope, disc count, runtime, and added footage, but does not establish that every historical edit or bonus clip is included.
| Option | What you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Peacock | Streaming access to the Superfan collection, including Season 9, subject to the current U.S. catalog and subscription tier | Viewers who want convenient access without buying discs |
| Digital purchase | Retailer-specific access to listed episodes or collections; confirm that the listing says “Superfan” or “Extended Episodes” | Viewers who prefer to buy digitally |
| Superfan Blu-ray | 30 discs, 194 expanded episodes, and the complete nine-season Superfan project | Collectors and fans who want a physical ownership option |
| Standard complete-series set | The original broadcast edits | Viewers who want the familiar television versions |
What this means for Michael Scott
Michael Scott’s appearance is part of the original series finale. NBCUniversal highlights that appearance among the Season 9 story moments revisited by the extended cuts, but it does not represent a newly filmed return for a new series.
In other words, fans may see additional material surrounding the original final-season episodes, but they should not expect new Michael-and-Dunder-Mifflin stories set after the finale.
How to identify the right version
- Look for “Superfan Episodes” or “Extended Cut.” A listing that only says The Office may refer to the standard broadcast version.
- Check the season number. The 2026 release is Season 9 Superfan Episodes, not a newly numbered Season 10.
- Verify the country. The Peacock premiere was announced as exclusive in the United States at launch, and international catalogs can differ.
- Compare the format. A Peacock subscription, a digital purchase, a standard complete-series set, and the 30-disc Superfan Blu-ray are different products.
- Recheck live availability. Streaming services, digital stores, prices, and stock change more often than the release dates themselves.
What the release does—and does not—change
The Season 9 Superfan release gives viewers a fuller version of the show’s ending-era material. It can add texture to stories that originally had to fit broadcast-TV runtimes, and it completes Peacock’s expanded-edition project.

It does not change the status of the original series. The Office still ended its NBC run in 2013. The January 2026 release is a newly available presentation of existing footage, not an official revival. The most accurate description is therefore the final batch of extended Superfan cuts covering the original Season 9.
