On HotHardware’s Ryzen 7 3700X test system, the XPG SPECTRIX D60G 16GB DDR4-3600 CL14 kit delivered about 13% more measured memory bandwidth than a DDR4-3200 kit. In a separate result, its 3DMark Physics score was about 6.5% higher than DDR4-2400. Those figures describe specific tests—not a guaranteed 13% speedup in apps or games on every Ryzen PC.
What the XPG SPECTRIX D60G is
The XPG SPECTRIX D60G is ADATA’s family of DDR4 memory modules with RGB lighting. ADATA announced it on April 18, 2019, highlighting a dual RGB diffuser design and Intel XMP 2.0 support. ADATA described the diffuser as giving the modules “the largest RGB surface area of any memory module”; that is the manufacturer’s promotional claim, not an independent measurement. ADATA’s launch announcement
D60G names a product family, not one fixed speed or configuration. ADATA’s datasheet describes documented capacities from 8GB to 32GB and frequencies spanning 3000 to 4133 MHz in its overview, with variants differing by revision and kit. It lists a DDR4-2666 CL19-19-19 SPD baseline at 1.2V and XMP 2.0 support. Check the exact part number: the family overview does not mean every D60G kit supports every listed speed. Which D60G kit was tested with Ryzen
HotHardware reviewed part AX4U360038G14C-DT60: 16GB total as two 8GB DIMMs, rated DDR4-3600 CL14 at 1.45V. That exact configuration—not every D60G kit—is the one behind the Ryzen results below. HotHardware’s July 2020 review
#1 Best Overall
- Compact Low-Profile Heatsink Design
- Top Quality RAM for High Durability
- Customizable RGB Light Effects
- Works with the Latest AMD Platforms
- Supports Intel XMP 2.0 for easy overclocking
Tom’s Hardware identifies the main XMP profile for the same part and capacity class as DDR4-3600 14-15-15-35 at 1.45V, with a secondary DDR4-3200 16-18-18-36 profile at 1.35V. It gives the reviewed modules a height of 46mm and notes RGB control through XPG or motherboard software. Check cooler clearance and confirm that your board supports the kit and its profile. HotHardware’s Ryzen test setup
HotHardware compared three 16GB configurations on a Ryzen 7 3700X and ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus Wi-Fi motherboard: the D60G DDR4-3600 CL14 kit, Corsair DDR4-3200 CL16, and Patriot DDR4-2400 CL17. The system also used a GeForce RTX 2080 Super and Windows 10 Pro x64 version 1909. The review kept DOCP enabled and manually entered timings for the slower kit to control for a firmware boost-clock behavior it observed on that motherboard. Results from a setup with default BIOS settings may therefore differ. HotHardware’s test details

- Fascinating RGB lighting: supports software from major motherboard manufacturers, customizable and programmable
- Armor inspired design with a bright RGB LED band
- It supports the new Intel X299 platform and implements the 2666MHz baseline (via SPD settings)
- Intel XMP 2.0: more accessible overclocking
- Multilayer PCB for excellent stability
What changed when memory speed increased
Memory bandwidth
In HotHardware’s SiSoft SANDRA 2020 bandwidth test, the D60G DDR4-3600 configuration achieved about 13% more memory bandwidth than the DDR4-3200 configuration. That is a bandwidth result, not evidence that ordinary applications or games ran 13% faster.
3DMark Physics
HotHardware reported about a 6.5% higher 3DMark Physics score with the D60G’s fastest, tightest configuration than with DDR4-2400. The review did not find a comparable large increase in the overall or graphics scores. The comparison is specifically between those memory configurations on its test system.

Other workloads
The review also ran Geekbench 5, PCMark 10, 3DMark Fire Strike, and Far Cry 5. The evidence does not support assigning one performance percentage to all those workloads: bandwidth, CPU-oriented tests, overall scores, and game performance measure different things. The useful conclusion is that faster memory can affect Ryzen results, but how much depends on the task and the rest of the system.

Tom’s Hardware found the D60G strong in gaming on its AMD and Intel test platforms, while its AMD CPU benchmark results were less dominant. Those were separate systems and test methods, so they are not a direct continuation of HotHardware’s 3700X comparison. Read them as evidence that the kit’s standing varies with workload and platform, not as a single universal ranking. Tom’s Hardware’s test results

How to judge this kit for your PC
- Match the exact specification: verify AX4U360038G14C-DT60, 16GB (2×8GB), DDR4-3600 CL14, and the profile you intend to use. Other D60G kits can have different capacities and speeds.
- Check platform support: confirm your CPU and motherboard support the memory configuration. The rated profile may need to be enabled in firmware; do not assume it is active at default settings.
- Account for voltage and timings: the reviewed 3600 CL14 profile is rated at 1.45V. Tom’s Hardware lists the alternate 3200 profile at 1.35V, with looser timings.
- Check physical fit: Tom’s Hardware lists a 46mm module height; compare it with your CPU cooler clearance.
- Compare current listings carefully: price and availability are not established by these historical reviews. Confirm the listing’s part number and current details before buying.
