The best Xbox Cloud Gaming alternative depends on how you get games. If you already own supported titles on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, or Ubisoft Connect, GeForce NOW is the most direct starting point. The game runs in NVIDIA’s data center while video is sent to your device and your controller or keyboard input is returned to the server.
What you can connect
Supported accounts commonly include Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG and Ubisoft, with additional linked services depending on the title. Ownership alone is not enough: the developer must have enabled that game and store edition for GeForce NOW. NVIDIA lists direct availability in North America, Europe, Japan and India, with Alliance partners serving other regions. Your nearest data center and the route from your internet provider affect latency, so two homes in the same country can have noticeably different results.
Devices and Fire TV network targets
NVIDIA names Windows and Mac computers, Chromebooks, SHIELD TV, selected Samsung and LG televisions, iPhone, iPad, Android devices, Steam Deck, VR headsets and Linux PCs. For Fire TV, its requirements list 15 Mbps for 720p at 60 frames per second and 25 Mbps for 1080p at 60 frames per second. What GeForce NOW does not do
It does not let you install arbitrary Windows software in the streaming session, and it does not turn every game in your store library into a supported title. When is PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming a better fit?

How does Amazon Luna work for console-style play?

Compatible screens
Amazon lists Fire TV and Fire tablets, Chrome or Edge on PC and Mac, Safari on iPhone and iPad, Android devices, and selected Samsung and LG televisions. A compatible television can therefore replace a console for supported games, provided the model, app and country are supported.
Internet use and data planning
Amazon recommends at least 10 Mbps. Its help guidance warns that 1080p cloud gaming can consume up to 10 GB per hour. A household with a monthly data cap should multiply that figure by planned play hours and leave room for other streaming, updates and video calls; the actual amount changes with resolution and scene complexity.
Controllers
The Luna Controller costs $69.99 in Amazon’s September 21, 2026 update. It supports Cloud Direct, Bluetooth and USB-C. Amazon also lists Xbox and PlayStation controllers as compatible on supported devices, and a phone can serve as a virtual controller. The Luna controller is therefore optional, not a prerequisite for testing the service.
What should you know before choosing Boosteroid?
Boosteroid is a second BYOG option for people who own supported games but want another cloud provider. Its policy is explicit: you cannot buy games from Boosteroid; paid games must come from the official distributor. You then sign in to the relevant store inside a supported session.
Resolution and frame rate
Boosteroid advertises streaming at 60 or 120 frames per second and up to 4K on PCs, laptops, tablets, Android TV and phones, subject to device and network conditions. Those are capability ceilings, not a promise that every game, plan or connection will reach them.

Its documentation lists DualShock 4, DualSense, wired Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series controllers. Vibration support varies by device, so test rumble if it matters for racing or action games.

- Choose BYOG or included catalog. Pick GeForce NOW or Boosteroid for supported PC-store ownership; pick PlayStation Plus Premium, Luna or Blacknut when the included catalog contains your targets.
- Choose a cloud PC only for control. Select Shadow PC when installing launchers, mods or other Windows software is essential.

How do you stream a game you already own?

- Search the provider’s catalog. Use the exact title and inspect the store icon. Do not rely on a similarly named console version.

The game is missing
Recheck the store edition, region and publisher support. If the title is not listed, switching from one BYOG provider to another may help, but neither service can run an unsupported edition.
The stream looks blurry
Reduce competing traffic, move from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and lower the stream resolution temporarily. A high-resolution target such as 4K needs substantially more headroom than 720p.
Controls feel delayed

Saves or DLC are absent
Confirm that the same store account is linked, cloud saves finished syncing and the streamed edition matches the one that created the save. DLC ownership does not always transfer between storefronts or console and PC versions.
