Wyze’s Bulb Cam combines an outdoor security camera and a smart light in one device that screws into a standard E26 socket. It records 2K video (2304 × 1296), but it does not turn any light fixture into a camera: the fixture must be compatible, leave room for the camera below it, and keep the lens unobstructed. Wyze announced the product on June 3, 2025, for locations such as garages, decks, and pool areas where a convenient outlet may be missing.
What the Wyze Bulb Cam includes
The Bulb Cam combines a camera with an integrated light and draws power from a 120V AC E26 socket. Wyze’s 2025 specifications list a matte-white body with a telescoping camera rod, color night vision, and a 3000K light rated at up to 800 lumens. Its field of view is 166° diagonally, 144° horizontally, and 82.5° vertically. Wyze rounds the diagonal figure to 160° in some product copy; the specification sheet gives the more precise measurements.
Wyze identifies the camera resolution as 2K, or 2304 × 1296. It is not 2.5K: Wyze’s separate resolution support material also lists this model as 2K. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of image quality or detection performance. See Wyze’s specification page.
Will it fit your light fixture?
Check both the socket and the space around it before buying. Wyze’s product page specifies an E26 socket and requires the camera to extend below the fixture’s lower edge with a clear view. The lens should not sit behind glass or fixture housing: Wyze warns that viewing through those materials may impair image quality and detection.

- Required: an E26 socket, 120V AC power, and enough clearance for the camera rod and lens to hang below the fixture.
- Not compatible: E17 sockets, fully enclosed fixtures, and integrated-LED fixtures that do not have a replaceable E26 bulb socket.
- Check the view: make sure the fixture itself will not block the camera’s line of sight.
That makes “any light fixture” an overstatement. A fixture can accept a bulb yet still be unsuitable because it encloses the camera or obstructs its view. Wyze’s product page describes compatibility and placement requirements.
Installation and safety checks
Wyze characterizes installation as screwing in a light bulb, but its setup guide includes safety and fixture restrictions. Turn off power before installing the device. Do not use it with a dimmer or timer, in a totally enclosed luminaire, or where it will be directly exposed to water. Consult Wyze’s quick start guide for the installation instructions.

Does it need a subscription, and can it record locally?
Wyze says the Bulb Cam can record continuously to a microSD card up to 256 GB without a subscription. The card is sold separately. On its product page, Wyze describes Cam Plus as adding AI alerts and cloud backup; local recording and those cloud features are distinct options. Check the current product and service terms for the features available to your account.
How it compares with Wyze’s other camera-and-light options
Wyze’s comparison chart shows how the Bulb Cam differs from its Floodlight v2 and Lamp Socket. The figures below are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent test results. The chart does not state every detail for every device, so the table marks missing values accordingly.

The Bulb Cam’s socket-based design is the relevant distinction if you want a camera and light without junction-box wiring. If you need a brighter light, Wyze lists higher output for its Floodlight v2 and Lamp Socket. The comparison chart also includes motion detection and outdoor rating, but the available specifications do not establish a hands-on comparison of how these devices perform.
