Choose Wix when you need a conventional public-facing website with visual editing, built-in hosting and business operations. Choose Lovable when the main product is an interactive web application with accounts, stored data, custom workflows or integrations. Both can publish browser-based experiences, but they optimize for different jobs: Wix starts with pages and site management, while Lovable starts with application behavior and data.
This is a product-fit decision rather than a universal winner. The sections below compare creation workflows, capabilities, hosting, domains, pricing and practical scenarios so you can select the platform that matches what you need to launch.
What is the difference between Wix and Lovable?
Wix is a hosted website and business platform. Its visual editor, templates, AI-assisted creation, SEO controls and add-on business tools are aimed at publishing and operating a site. Lovable is an AI web-app builder that generates browser-based applications from plain-language prompts, including application pages, a database, user accounts, hosting and integrations.

A useful test is to describe what visitors must do:
#1 Best Overall
- Valued Carpenter Pencil Set: You will get 2 pcs solid carpenter pencils with 26 piece 2.8 mm refills, 1 replaceable sharpener, 1 plastic storage box.The complete carpenter pencils combination allows you to finish your work faster and more easily
- Deep Hole Marker Pencil: The deep-hole construction pencils adopts 45mm elongated tip design, which is more convenient to mark in the small hole or in other tight areas that other carpenter markers cannot reach
- Carpenter Pencils with Sharpener: The sharpener is screwed into the top of the work pencil, which won't get lost either. Built-in pencil sharpener that keep the lead with pointed and smooth to Improves line of sight in fine work
- Stronger Solid Lead: This work pencil is matched with a 2.8 mm thick lead , which is much thicker and stronger during the drawing process of construction work, it will not break or damage easily
- Marks on Various Surfaces: 3 colors solid construction pencil can marks on various surfaces, such as metal, plastic, wood, paper etc. Ideals for woodworkers, contractors, craftsmen, builders, merchants and masons
- Mostly read, browse, contact, book or buy: Wix is generally the more direct fit because those site and business functions are bundled into its platform.
- Sign in, save records, follow a custom process or manage work: Lovable’s app-oriented model is usually better aligned.
The distinction is not absolute. Wix can be extended with apps and business features, and Lovable can publish a presentational site. The question is which product’s default workflow and included capabilities reduce the work for your specific project.
What can each platform build?
Wix: a managed website and business operation
Wix’s official website-builder page describes creating a site with AI or a template, without code. It includes hosting, drag-and-drop editing, templates, mobile adaptation and SEO features. The same page lists payments, eCommerce, scheduling, marketing tools and app extensions, with availability depending on the plan and selected apps.
Wix says it offers more than 2,000 customizable templates. It also publishes claims of more than 300 million sites built and more than 90,000 sites launched each day; those are Wix’s own figures, and the inspected page does not state a publication year. Treat them as vendor-reported scale indicators rather than independent measurements.

Lovable: an AI-generated full-stack web application
Lovable’s AI Web App Builder page says you can describe an idea in plain language and receive a full-stack web app with a database, logins and hosting ready to share. Its workflow is prompt-led: you describe the feature, inspect a preview, ask for refinements and can edit the generated code directly when you want finer control.
The platform documents integrations for payments, email, spreadsheets and AI features. It can publish to a Lovable address, and paid plans describe custom-domain support. Because the app may store user data and implement account-based logic, you should define data, authentication and operational requirements before comparing plan prices.
How do the creation workflows compare?
Wix is visual and template-oriented; Lovable is conversational and code-generating. Pick the workflow that matches how you prefer to make decisions and maintain the result.
Building with Wix
- Start with a template or ask Wix’s AI-assisted setup to generate an initial site.
- Use the drag-and-drop editor to adjust page structure, typography, media and responsive behavior.
- Add the business functions you need, such as payments, scheduling, commerce or marketing tools; check the selected plan and app requirements.
- Configure SEO settings, connect a domain and publish through Wix hosting.
This approach gives nontechnical teams a visible representation of each page while they work. Wix also warns that AI-generated results can contain mistakes, so review text, images, settings and any automated business configuration before publishing.
Building with Lovable
- Describe the application’s purpose and the screens or workflow you want in plain language.
- Review the generated browser preview and identify missing states, validation, permissions or data relationships.
- Iterate through chat-style requests, then inspect or edit the generated code when the visual result or behavior needs precision.
- Connect required services, test accounts and data flows, and publish to the Lovable address or configure a custom domain on an eligible paid plan.
Prompting can accelerate a first version, but it does not remove product decisions. You still need to specify who can access each record, what happens on errors, how payments are confirmed and which integrations are authoritative.

Which functional requirements favor Wix or Lovable?
| Requirement | More natural fit | Reason to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing pages, portfolios or informational content | Wix | Templates, visual editing, hosting and SEO are built around public-facing sites. |
| Online payments or basic eCommerce | Wix for a standard store; Lovable for a custom transaction workflow | Wix lists payments and eCommerce in its business plans, while Lovable can integrate payments inside an application. |
| Appointment scheduling | Wix | Scheduling is listed among Wix business capabilities. |
| User accounts and saved application data | Lovable | Lovable’s app description explicitly includes logins and a built-in database. |
| Custom internal workflow or work-management tool | Lovable | Prompt-generated application logic, data and permissions can be shaped around a specific process. |
| SEO-led site operations with many prebuilt extensions | Wix | Its site platform combines SEO features with an app ecosystem and managed hosting. |
| Direct access to generated source code | Lovable | Lovable documents direct code editing as an option; Wix emphasizes no-code visual editing. |
These are starting points, not hard limits. A complex Wix implementation may require additional apps or custom work, while a Lovable project may require more testing and configuration than a brochure-style site.
How do hosting, publishing and domains differ?
Both products provide a route to hosted publishing, but the operating model differs.
- Wix: hosting is included with the platform. Paid plan pages list a free domain for one year, subject to the plan and current regional terms. Confirm renewal pricing, ownership and transfer conditions before committing a domain to a long-lived business.
- Lovable: generated apps can be published to a Lovable address. Custom domains are described for paid plans. Verify the exact plan’s domain connection, DNS instructions, ownership and transfer terms before launch.
Do not treat a free first-year domain as a permanent discount. Domain registration, renewal, privacy and transfer rules can differ from the website or app subscription, and both vendors state that offerings can vary by plan or location.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow much do Wix and Lovable cost in 2026?
The displayed prices below are snapshots from the vendors’ pages, not guaranteed quotes. Wix’s figures are shown for yearly subscriptions paid in full; the company says prices vary by location and that applicable taxes may apply. Lovable’s pricing page shows subscription tiers plus shared workspace credits, and usage can change with the mode, task and cloud features.
| Product | Displayed tier | Displayed price | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wix | Free | $0 | Feature and publishing limits depend on the current free offering. |
| Wix | Light | $17/month | Displayed with a yearly subscription paid in full; location and taxes can change the checkout amount. |
| Wix | Core | $29/month | Displayed with yearly billing; the inspected plan lists payments, basic eCommerce and scheduling. |
| Wix | Business | $39/month | Displayed with yearly billing; the inspected plan lists payments, standard eCommerce and scheduling. |
| Lovable | Free | Free tier listed | Credit and feature allowances are governed by the current pricing page. |
| Lovable | Pro | $25/month | Displayed price at the time inspected; credits are shared at workspace level. |
| Lovable | Business | $50/month | Displayed price at the time inspected; credit use and cloud requirements still affect total cost. |
Lovable explains that credits cover building, Cloud hosting and AI features in user apps. Substantial traffic or a large app can create costs beyond included grants. Therefore, comparing $29 against $25 as if they were equivalent monthly bills can be misleading: Wix’s number reflects annual prepayment, while Lovable’s total depends on credit consumption and cloud usage.
Check the current Wix plans page and Lovable pricing page immediately before purchase. Confirm billing term, regional currency, tax, included domain terms, credit grants, overage behavior and any feature-specific limits.
Is Wix better for a business website?
For a typical business website, Wix is usually the faster route because pages, hosting, SEO controls, payments, scheduling and commerce options are presented in one site-management environment.

Is Lovable better for an interactive web app?
Lovable is generally the better starting point when the product itself is an application: users sign in, create or update records, follow a workflow, or connect multiple services.
Choose Lovable when these conditions apply
- The first release needs a database and user authentication rather than mostly static pages.
- You want to describe behavior in natural language, iterate rapidly and retain the option to edit generated code.
- Your app needs integrations such as payments, email, spreadsheets or AI features.
- You can monitor credit consumption, cloud usage, permissions and application behavior as usage grows.
Plan for testing beyond the happy path. An application needs explicit handling for invalid input, duplicate submissions, failed integrations, account recovery and authorization boundaries. Lovable’s generation workflow can produce a useful foundation, but those product and security decisions remain yours.
Can Lovable build a conventional website?
Yes. Lovable can generate browser-based pages and host them, so a simple public site is possible. It is most compelling when those pages are part of a broader app or when the site needs custom interactive behavior, data and accounts.

Compare the maintenance experience, not just the initial generated result.
Can Wix build a web application?
Wix can be extended with apps and business features, and its platform is not limited to a single static page. However, the available data does not establish that its standard workflow provides the same database-first, prompt-generated application model Lovable documents.
If your project requires specialized permissions, multi-step records or unusual integrations, write down those requirements and verify them against the exact Wix plan and available extensions. A platform that can technically host pages is not automatically the most efficient way to build an application.
How should you decide between Wix and Lovable?
Use this sequence before creating an account or paying for a plan:
- Define the primary object. If it is a site visitor reading or contacting you, start with Wix. If it is a signed-in user manipulating data or completing a workflow, start with Lovable.
- List mandatory functions. Mark payments, commerce, scheduling, SEO, accounts, database records, integrations, roles and notifications. Separate must-haves from features that can wait.
- Choose the maintenance owner. A marketing team comfortable with visual editing points toward Wix; a team willing to review prompts, generated behavior and code may prefer Lovable.
- Estimate usage. For Wix, calculate the annual prepayment and regional taxes. For Lovable, estimate build iterations, shared credits, hosting, traffic and app size.
- Test a representative slice. Build one real page or workflow, including mobile behavior, validation, permissions and an integration. Do not judge only the landing screen.
- Verify publishing terms. Check custom-domain eligibility, renewal, ownership, transfer, account roles and what happens if you downgrade or cancel.
- Recheck the checkout pages. Vendor pricing, credits, plan names and feature availability are volatile; use the current Wix comparison and Lovable pricing information for the final decision.
What are the main pitfalls?
Comparing headline prices without billing context
A Wix amount displayed per month is tied to annual payment in full, while Lovable’s subscription price does not by itself capture credit and Cloud consumption. Compare the first-year cash commitment and expected usage, not only the labels beside the prices.

Assuming AI output is production-ready
Wix explicitly cautions that AI can make mistakes. Lovable’s generated app also needs human review of data modeling, authentication, error handling, accessibility, content and integrations before public release.
Choosing by visual polish alone
A polished page does not prove that commerce, scheduling, permissions, saved data or payment confirmation work correctly. Test the exact task a customer or employee will perform.
Ignoring growth-related costs
Lovable notes that substantial traffic or app size may incur costs beyond included grants. Wix plan upgrades, paid apps, domain renewals and regional taxes can also change the operating budget. Record the assumptions behind your estimate and revisit them as usage changes.

Which is the better choice overall?
There is no single winner. Wix is the safer default for a conventional business website that needs visual editing, managed hosting, SEO and bundled site operations. Lovable is the stronger fit for an interactive web application whose value comes from accounts, stored data, custom logic and integrations.
Make the decision from the required user action, then validate the exact plan, domain terms and usage economics at checkout. That approach avoids forcing a website platform to behave like an application builder—or paying for application complexity when a managed website already solves the problem.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Wix and Lovable include hosting, or do I need a separate server?
Both provide a hosted publishing path. Wix bundles hosting with its website platform, while Lovable hosts generated apps and provides a Lovable address; confirm the current plan’s custom-domain and usage terms before launch.
Are Wix’s advertised monthly prices month-to-month subscriptions?
The inspected Wix page displays its Light, Core and Business amounts for yearly subscriptions paid in full. Your checkout total can differ by location and taxes, so verify the billing term rather than multiplying the displayed monthly figure by one month.
