Wix is one of the strongest low-cost choices for a beginner, freelancer, creator, or small business that wants a visual website builder with hosting, templates, AI-assisted setup, apps, and a route to selling online. The free plan is useful for experimenting, but its Wix address, branding, 500 MB storage limit, 1 GB bandwidth limit, and lack of payments make it unsuitable for most professional launches. A serious brochure site should normally start on Light; a site that takes payments, sells products, or accepts bookings should start on Core or higher.
Wix is not the lowest-cost way to operate a large online shop. Its advantage is breadth: you can begin with no code, keep control over layout, and add marketing, bookings, payments, and apps as the site grows. The trade-off is a busier dashboard and a larger set of decisions than you get with a minimalist builder.
What is Wix, and who is it for?
Wix is a hosted website platform that combines a drag-and-drop editor, no-code design tools, templates, hosting, security, SEO controls, AI-assisted site creation, and an app marketplace. You do not need to buy separate hosting or assemble a content-management system before publishing. The same account can support a personal site, portfolio, service business, blog, event operation, or online shop.

You can position text, images, sections, galleries, buttons, forms, and other elements directly on a page rather than working only within a rigid theme structure. Automatic mobile adaptation helps turn a desktop layout into a phone-friendly version, although you still need to inspect the mobile presentation before publishing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Wix’s product page claims more than 300 million sites built on the platform, more than 90,000 sites launched each day, over 2,000 responsive templates, and more than 500 apps in its App Market. Those are Wix-published marketing figures accessed in 2026, not independently audited statistics, so treat them as indications of scale rather than a guarantee of performance for your site.
The best fit is someone who values visual freedom and an all-in-one service more than the absolute lowest monthly bill. A photographer can start with a portfolio, a consultant can add forms and scheduling, and a small retailer can move to payments and product pages without changing platforms. A very large catalogue, highly customized application, or migration-heavy organization should evaluate long-term platform constraints before committing.
How much does Wix cost in 2026?
The current Wix pricing page lists the following reference prices for annual subscriptions paid in full. Wix says the displayed price and currency vary by location, taxes are extra, promotions may change the amount, and the final total appears at checkout. The monthly figures below are therefore planning numbers, not a promise of what every visitor will pay.
| Plan | Reference price on annual billing | Approximate 12-month total before taxes | Storage | Business and commerce features | Collaborators |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Up to 500 MB | No online payments | Not stated |
| Light | $17/month | $204 | 2 GB | Light marketing suite; no stated payment capability | 2 |
| Core | $29/month | $348 | 50 GB | Payment acceptance, basic ecommerce, scheduling and services | 5 |
| Business | $39/month | $468 | 100 GB | Standard ecommerce, standard marketing suite, scheduling and services | 10 |
| Business Elite | $159/month | $1,908 | Unlimited | Advanced ecommerce and marketing; advanced developer platform | 100 |
The annual totals in the table are simple 12-times calculations from Wix’s displayed monthly equivalents. They do not include taxes, a domain renewal after any introductory period, paid apps, payment-processing charges, or other optional services. Check the checkout screen for the price in your country and the exact billing commitment before paying.
Paid plans include a 14-day money-back guarantee for an initial Premium upgrade, according to Wix’s own blog. That guarantee is useful for testing the editor and publishing workflow, but it does not make optional app subscriptions or other third-party charges free; review each charge separately.
Is Wix really free?
Yes. You can build and publish a Wix site without entering a credit card, and Wix says the free tier has no time limit. It includes Wix hosting, the editor, design tools, and templates. The limitations are visible to visitors and matter for business use.
- Your site uses a Wix-branded subdomain rather than your own domain.
- Wix branding appears on the free site.
- Wix Support lists up to 500 MB of storage and up to 1 GB of bandwidth.
- Free sites cannot process online payments.
- Google Analytics is not available on free sites.
- A custom domain and advanced business features require an upgrade.
Use Free as a test environment, a private draft, a classroom exercise, or a hobby page where the Wix address and branding are acceptable. It is a poor choice for a professional identity, advertising campaign, portfolio sent to clients, or store because visitors see the platform branding and you cannot complete online transactions.

Which Wix plan should you choose?
Choose the lowest plan that supports the action your visitors must take. Wix Support’s own guidance points to Light for a basic online presence and Core or Business for selling products or services. The practical choices are:
For a portfolio, hobby, or test site: Free
Free is enough when you are validating an idea, learning the editor, or sharing work without needing a custom domain. Build the pages, test mobile layouts, and decide whether the platform feels comfortable before spending money. Upgrade before you distribute the address as your professional contact or run a campaign that expects a polished brand.
For a professional brochure site: Light
Light is the entry paid tier. It provides 2 GB of storage, a custom domain for one year, a light marketing suite, and two collaborators. It suits a consultant, local service provider, author, or freelancer whose site mainly explains the offer and collects contact enquiries rather than taking payments directly.
For bookings, services, or payments: Core
Core is the sensible starting point when visitors must pay, book a service, or buy a small set of products. It adds payment acceptance, basic ecommerce, scheduling and services, 50 GB of storage, and five collaborators. Starting with Light and discovering later that you need payments can create a needless plan change, so decide based on the required transaction flow.
For a growing shop or team: Business
Business raises storage to 100 GB, expands the collaborator allowance to ten, and includes standard ecommerce and a standard marketing suite. It is the middle option for a shop that needs more than basic selling tools or a business with several people maintaining content, campaigns, and orders.
For advanced operations or developer work: Business Elite
Business Elite is a major price jump to $159 per month on the cited annual-billing reference. In return it offers unlimited storage, advanced ecommerce and marketing capabilities, an advanced developer platform, and up to 100 collaborators. The higher tier makes sense only when those operational or development requirements have a clear financial value.
What do Wix’s editor and AI tools actually provide?
Wix offers two complementary ways to get started: create a site with AI assistance or select a template and edit it visually. AI can accelerate the first draft by proposing structure and content, while the no-code editor lets you change the result without writing code.
Rank #3
- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
AI is a starting point, not an authority. Wix itself warns that “AI can make mistakes. Always double check the results.” Check every generated business name, service description, price, policy, image choice, and factual statement. Replace generic copy with your real operating hours, service area, contact details, terms, and accessibility information before publishing.

The editor’s flexibility is valuable when a template almost fits but not quite. You can adjust hierarchy, spacing, colors, media, and calls to action instead of accepting a fixed arrangement. That freedom also creates more opportunities for inconsistent spacing, crowded mobile sections, slow pages caused by oversized media, or an unclear navigation structure. Establish a small design system—one heading treatment, a limited color palette, and consistent button wording—before adding many pages.
How good are Wix templates, mobile tools, SEO, and apps?
Templates and responsive behavior
Wix advertises more than 2,000 responsive templates across business, portfolio, blog, event, and store use cases. A template can reduce the time needed to establish navigation and page hierarchy, but the correct choice is the one whose structure matches your content. Replacing every section may take longer than starting with a simpler design.
Automatic mobile adaptation is helpful but not a substitute for review. Open the mobile view, check the first screen, test menus and forms with a finger, and verify that important text is not hidden below oversized images. Repeat the check after major desktop edits because a change in one layout can alter the mobile arrangement.
SEO controls
Wix includes built-in SEO tools. Use them to set a descriptive page title, write a useful meta description, create readable URLs, organize headings, add meaningful image alternative text, and connect the site to the measurement and search services available on your paid tier. SEO tools cannot compensate for thin content, unclear services, slow media, or a site that does not answer the visitor’s question.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Free sites cannot use Google Analytics according to Wix Support. If measurement is important, budget for a paid plan and configure analytics before a campaign begins so you can establish a baseline rather than trying to reconstruct traffic later.
Apps and integrations
The App Market lists more than 500 apps, according to Wix. Apps can extend a site with forms, marketing, events, bookings, commerce, and other functions. Each app introduces another interface, data flow, permission set, and possible recurring charge. Install only what supports a defined business task, document who owns the account, and remove experiments that add clutter without producing value.

Can you sell products, services, and bookings on Wix?
Yes, but the required plan depends on what you sell. Core is the first listed tier with payment acceptance, basic ecommerce, and scheduling or services. Business adds standard ecommerce and a broader marketing suite, while Business Elite adds advanced ecommerce and marketing features.
Physical or digital products
Use Core for a small catalogue and straightforward checkout requirements. Move to Business when the shop needs the standard ecommerce and marketing capabilities included in that tier. Evaluate storage, collaborator access, catalogue complexity, and the customer-support workload before upgrading; a higher plan is justified by a specific requirement, not simply by the word “business” in the name.
Appointments and services
Core includes scheduling and services, so a consultant, instructor, salon, or repair business can make booking part of the site’s primary journey. Map the complete path before launch: service description, availability, confirmation, payment if required, cancellation policy, and the staff member who handles exceptions. Test the flow as a customer on a phone and desktop.
Events and marketing
Wix’s own customer statement from Kelly and Caitlin, co-founders of Shaka Club, describes using the platform to track events, check people in, and send email marketing at scale. That is a customer example, not an independent performance test, but it illustrates why an all-in-one platform can appeal to an organization that would otherwise combine several tools.
What are Wix’s main limitations and trade-offs?
Wix’s breadth is both its selling point and its cost. Before choosing it, account for the following constraints.
- Free branding and address: the no-cost plan is not a white-label professional presence, and it cannot take payments.
- Plan-dependent limits: storage, collaborators, analytics access, commerce, and marketing capabilities vary by tier.
- Dashboard complexity: a large set of design, app, marketing, booking, and commerce controls can feel busy compared with a minimalist builder.
- Volatile pricing: location, tax, promotions, and billing period affect the amount shown at checkout; annual reference figures should not be treated as a universal quote.
- App sprawl: adding many integrations can make ownership, permissions, data, and recurring costs harder to manage.
- Scale decisions: a very large shop or a site requiring deep custom development should verify that the selected Wix tier and developer capabilities meet its future requirements before migration becomes expensive.
Migration deserves deliberate planning. Keep an export or independent copy of your text, images, product data, customer records, domain settings, and analytics configuration. Inventory every app and embed before moving. The available data does not establish a universal one-click migration path, so treat a platform change as a project that may require manual rebuilding and URL redirects.

How do you launch a Wix site without missing important checks?
A launch checklist prevents the common mistake of publishing a visually attractive draft with incomplete contact, mobile, or payment details.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Define the primary outcome. Decide whether the site should generate enquiries, bookings, product sales, event registrations, or simply establish credibility. This determines the plan and the calls to action.
- Choose Free, AI setup, or a template. Use Free to learn the editor, ask the AI-assisted setup for a first structure, or select a responsive template whose navigation matches your content.
- Create the core pages. At minimum, write a clear home page, an offer or services page, an about page that establishes relevant credibility, and a contact or booking path. Add policies and store information when you take orders.
- Replace generated material. Review AI-written copy, images, prices, opening hours, locations, claims, and legal text. Wix’s warning that AI can make mistakes should be treated as a required editing step.
- Set the visual system. Standardize heading levels, body text, colors, buttons, image crops, and spacing. Remove template sections that do not support the visitor’s task.
- Check mobile and accessibility basics. Review every page on a phone-sized view, confirm readable contrast and text size, add alternative text to meaningful images, and ensure keyboard and form labels are understandable.
- Configure SEO and measurement. Write page titles and descriptions, use descriptive URLs and headings, add image alternative text, and connect analytics when your plan supports it. Do not assume that publishing alone will produce search traffic.
- Connect the domain and select the appropriate plan. Upgrade from Free when you need a custom domain, to Core when you need payments or scheduling, or to Business and Business Elite when the stated ecommerce, marketing, storage, collaborator, or developer requirements justify them.
- Test real user journeys. Submit forms, complete a booking, place a test order if applicable, check confirmation messages, and verify that the correct person receives notifications. Test on more than one device and browser.
- Publish, monitor, and document. Record the domain account, Wix owner, collaborator roles, apps, renewal dates, and analytics access. Review enquiries, failed transactions, mobile behavior, and storage use after launch rather than treating publication as the end of the work.
How should you compare Wix with your budget and growth plans?
Compare the complete operating cost, not only the advertised monthly number. A useful worksheet has five lines:
- Subscription: use the checkout price for your location and billing period, not a screenshot of a promotional offer.
- Domain: note the first-year inclusion where offered and the renewal price shown before the next billing date.
- Transactions: account for payment-processing charges and any service-specific costs associated with selling or booking.
- Extensions: list every paid app, email feature, marketing service, and integration, including its renewal frequency.
- People and maintenance: confirm that the collaborator allowance matches the team and that someone owns content updates, support, analytics, and security reviews.
Then score the platform against the work visitors must do. If the answer is “read about me and send an enquiry,” Light may be enough. If the answer is “pay, choose a time, and receive a confirmation,” Core is the practical baseline. If the answer includes a larger catalogue, several editors, standard marketing automation, or more storage, Business is easier to justify. Business Elite belongs to operations that can identify a concrete need for unlimited storage, advanced ecommerce or marketing, advanced developer capabilities, or a 100-person collaborator allowance.
What do independent reviewers and Wix customers say?
Tom’s Guide named Wix its best overall website builder, citing creative control, AI tools, and ecommerce capability. TechRadar described it as suitable for blogs, personal sites, small businesses, and ecommerce. These are editorial judgments, not universal test results; your experience will depend on the site type, team, apps, and plan.
Wix also publishes the Shaka Club customer statement that the platform acts like “another teammate” for tracking events, checking people in, sending email marketing, and handling daily work at scale. It is useful evidence of the product’s intended all-in-one workflow, but it should not be read as a guarantee that every organization will achieve the same result.
What are the main pros and cons of Wix?
Advantages
- Visual drag-and-drop editing with no coding requirement.
- AI-assisted setup for a faster first draft.
- Hosting and security included rather than purchased separately.
- A large template library and automatic mobile adaptation.
- Built-in SEO tools and an App Market with more than 500 Wix-listed apps.
- A clear upgrade path from a free experiment to paid domains, payments, bookings, ecommerce, marketing, and advanced developer features.
- Collaborator allowances that increase from two on Light to 100 on Business Elite.
Disadvantages
- The free plan has Wix branding, a Wix address, limited storage and bandwidth, no payments, and no Google Analytics.
- The editor and dashboard can feel complicated because they cover many use cases.
- Annual-billing reference prices vary by location, taxes, promotions, and billing period.
- Paid apps and additional services can make the real cost higher than the plan headline.
- A serious store or advanced custom application needs a careful scalability and migration assessment.
Is Wix the best cheap website builder in 2026?
For a beginner or small organization that wants design control, hosting, AI assistance, templates, apps, and a path to commerce in one place, Wix is a strong budget-friendly choice. The cheapest sensible route is Free for testing, Light for a professional informational site, Core for payments or bookings, and Business for a growing shop or team. Business Elite is a specialist tier rather than a bargain plan.
The decision is less about finding the lowest advertised number and more about matching the plan to the site’s required action, domain standard, analytics needs, team size, storage, and growth path. Verify the checkout price in your region, include renewals and app costs, test the complete customer journey, and upgrade only when a stated requirement demands it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Wix charge extra when I connect a domain I already own?
The plan table establishes that Light includes a free domain for one year, but it does not establish a universal price for connecting or renewing every domain. Check the domain and renewal terms shown for your country at checkout, and keep the registrar account and renewal date in your launch records.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCan I run a Wix site without hiring a developer?
Yes. Wix is built around no-code editing, templates, AI-assisted setup, hosting, and built-in tools, so a basic site can be created without programming. Developer involvement becomes more relevant when your requirements exceed the standard editor, apps, or the advanced developer capabilities described for Business Elite.
What should I do if an AI-generated Wix page contains incorrect information?
Treat every generated section as a draft. Verify names, prices, policies, service areas, opening hours, images, and claims against your actual business records, then have the responsible owner approve the page before publication.
How can I keep Wix costs under control after launch?
Record the subscription, domain renewal, paid apps, marketing services, and payment-related charges in one budget. Review app usage and collaborator access periodically, remove experiments that no longer serve a customer task, and recheck the plan at renewal rather than allowing unused additions to continue automatically.
