For comfortable Enshrouded sessions, start with a textured grip case that gives your palms more support; add a USB-C Power Delivery power bank rated for at least 45W if you play away from an outlet. A case stand is especially useful for building and crafting, while a dock and controller make long sessions at a table or TV easier. The game is Steam Deck Verified as of October 23, 2026, but that rating does not promise a locked 60 fps or a particular battery life.
Which accessories matter most for Enshrouded on Steam Deck?
The best setup depends on how you play. Enshrouded combines analog movement, combat, gliding, exploration, inventory management, crafting, and voxel building. A useful accessory should address a real part of that routine: hand comfort during exploration, a stable viewing angle for menus and building, power for demanding handheld sessions, or a more comfortable docked setup.

For a table or couch setup, a kickstand is the simplest way to take the Deck out of your hands; a dock and separate controller make sense if you want a larger display or Ethernet. A capable power bank is the session-length upgrade, while thumb grips and storage are useful refinements rather than substitutes for those basics.
| How you play | Most relevant accessories | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Mostly handheld | Grip case, optional thumb grips, 45W-or-higher USB-C PD power bank | Added weight and whether the case fits your dock and carrying case |
| Building or crafting at a table | Case with kickstand, or a dock with an adjustable stand | A built-in stand is portable; a dock adds cables and takes more space |
| TV or monitor play | USB-C dock, Bluetooth controller, and optionally Ethernet | External-controller setup may need attention before play |
| Large game library | Quality UHS-I microSD card | The Deck’s card slot limits the benefit of buying for headline maximum speeds |
Is Enshrouded Steam Deck Verified, and what does that mean?
Yes. Keen Games announced on October 23, 2026, that Enshrouded 1.0 had received Steam Deck Verified status. Valve’s compatibility report marks the default controller configuration functional, the Deck’s controller glyphs correct, interface text legible, and the default configuration performant.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Valve also lists a note that external controllers are not supported as the primary player. That is a qualification, not a failed compatibility check, and the Steam store lists full controller support. For docked play, plan to connect and configure a controller through Steam Input or Bluetooth rather than assuming a newly connected pad will immediately take over as player one.
Verified is a compatibility label, not a frame-rate guarantee. Gaming On Steam’s October 2026 1.0 report found performance mostly in the 40–50 fps range with FSR 3 Quality and frame generation, with some dips into the 30s. The outlet cautioned: “Enshrouded Steam Deck performance in 1.0 is not perfect, and you should not expect a locked 60fps.” The game is playable, but demanding scenes and effects can affect both smoothness and power use.

The Skull & Co. GripCase SD is the most direct comfort-first choice in the options covered here. Its textured palm shelves address the slippery, flat feel that GamepadSquire identified in the stock shell, and its integrated stand also helps when you want both hands free for building menus or crafting.
Skull & Co. GripCase SD: the value comfort pick
The soft TPU case fits Steam Deck LCD and OLED models, adds about 130 grams, and has a built-in 75-degree stand. GamepadSquire reported a $26.99 list price and common sale prices of $17–22; those are reported prices, not guaranteed current offers. In that review, it scored 8.5/10 and had an Amazon rating of 4.6/5 from 483 ratings. Ratings and prices can change.
Its main drawback is fit with other gear. The case does not fully seat in Valve’s official dock, although owners can stand the Deck in front of the cradle and connect its cable, or remove the case. It may also squeeze into the slim inner carry case included with the 1TB OLED. GamepadSquire reports a three-month warranty and warns that the case can warp if stored badly.
When to spend more or choose a modular case
The dbrand Project Killswitch, reported at about $59.95 direct, combines a grip skin, detachable front cover, and rear kickstand. It is a travel-oriented alternative for someone who wants a front cover as well as a stand, but some docks require an adapter. The higher price buys a different combination of protection and features, not a proven performance improvement in Enshrouded.
The JSAUX ModCase (PC0104) is a modular alternative reported at roughly $25–40. Its back shell can stay on during play; optional pieces include a front cover, metal kickstand, and slider attachment for a cooling fan or compatible JSAUX power bank. Switchblade Gaming identifies it as a tabletop-use pick, while owner reports cited in the available data say its kickstand can loosen. It offers more modularity and backpack protection than the GripCase, but check the exact bundle and included parts before buying.
Basic silicone shells, including budget options such as Syntech, can protect the finish, but without shaped palm shelves or a stand they are not equivalent ergonomic upgrades. If comfort is the goal, prioritize grip shape and texture rather than the mere presence of a protective shell.

Do Steam Deck thumb grips help with Enshrouded?
They can improve stick feel if your thumbs slip on the stock caps, particularly during long stretches of camera control, movement, gliding, or combat aiming. They are a small, low-bulk refinement; they will not make the Deck itself lighter or provide palm support.
Skull & Co. offers TPE thumb grips in three profiles, often sold as a six-pack. PlayVital and JSAUX capacitive grips also appear in 2026 accessory roundups. The available data notes that LCD sticks are often described by reviewers as slick, while OLED sticks are better regarded but still get aftermarket caps. If you choose a Skull & Co. GripCase, matching thumb grips are a straightforward way to keep the accessory choices within one product family.
What power bank can charge the Deck while playing Enshrouded?
Choose a bank with USB-C Power Delivery output rated at 45W or more. Switchblade Gaming identifies 45W as the minimum for maintaining charge while gaming and 65W as the more practical tier for gaining charge during demanding sessions. A lower-output phone bank may slow battery loss, but it should not be treated as a dependable charge-while-playing solution for this game.
Valve’s official Steam Deck power supply is 45W PD 3.0. The handheld accepts up to 45W, so a bank rated at 140W does not charge the Deck faster than a compatible 45W supply; the additional output is useful headroom for other devices or a multi-device setup. Enshrouded can place sustained demand on the Deck, so a power bank is most valuable when you need to extend a session away from a wall outlet.
Power bank options
| Option | Published details | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| JSAUX 20,000 mAh 65W power bank | IGN’s Deck power-bank pick; integrated USB-C cable. IGN says it provides at least one full Deck charge and takes about three hours to recharge the Deck. GamepadSquire reports a typical price of about $46–60. | A mid-priced, 65W option; the available data also notes that it can attach to the ModCase. |
| Anker 737 Power Bank / PowerCore 24K | 24,000 mAh, up to 140W USB-C PD, approximately 1.5–2 Deck recharges in practice, and a digital display. GamepadSquire reports roughly $90–110. | A premium bank for added capacity and charging other devices; its 140W rating does not raise the Deck’s 45W input limit. |
| Baseus 65W 20,000 mAh or Ugreen Nexode Retractable | Listed among 2026 roundup options for travel-sized banks at 45W or higher. Other comparative capacity, runtime, and price details are not stated in the cited material. | Worth considering when the specific model’s output and form factor suit your bag. |
Valve quotes 3–12 hours of gameplay for the OLED Deck, depending on content, at 30 fps, 50% brightness, and 50% volume. That is a device-wide range, not an Enshrouded runtime. No timed 1.0 battery comparison for this game on LCD versus OLED is established here, so do not use the range to promise a particular number of hours. The OLED model has a 50Whr battery; Valve says it provides 30–50% more battery life than LCD overall, but the game’s actual runtime depends on settings and play conditions.
Is a kickstand or dock better for building and crafting?
A kickstand is the lighter, simpler choice if you mainly want to rest the Deck on a table and use its built-in controls. A dock is more useful when you want to connect a monitor or TV, USB accessories, wired networking, or a separate controller. Since building and inventory work often mean looking down at menus rather than actively moving, being able to set the screen at a comfortable angle can make a real difference to posture.
Kickstand cases: minimal setup
The GripCase, ModCase, and Killswitch all provide a stand without requiring a separate dock. Their trade-offs differ: the GripCase is the value-focused grip with a fixed 75-degree stand; the ModCase is modular; and the Killswitch adds a detachable front cover. Pick based on how you carry the Deck and whether you want extra protection or attachments, not on an unsupported claim that a case improves game performance.
JSAUX HB0603: value dock with a wide feature set
The JSAUX 6-in-1 Docking Station HB0603 is a commonly recommended value option. GamepadSquire and IGN list HDMI output up to 4K at 120Hz, Gigabit Ethernet, 100W PD passthrough, three USB 3.0 ports, and an aluminum body; GamepadSquire reports typical pricing around $30–45. Those are roundup-reported specifications for the HB0603, not a universal description of every JSAUX dock or hub. Owner notes cited by GamepadSquire mention occasional USB-audio crackle and some units failing after six to twelve months.

Ugreen 9-in-1: adjustable viewing angle
Rock Paper Shotgun names the Ugreen 9-in-1 Steam Deck Dock as its best-dock pick. Its adjustable stand is a useful distinction for building or crafting, where a fixed low screen angle may be awkward. The dock includes USB ports and card readers and has an aluminum design; the cited roundup says it does not block the rear vents unless set very low. The material does not establish a price for this model, so compare the current listing and included ports before purchase.
Valve’s official dock: a dedicated cradle
Valve lists its Docking Station at $79. It includes HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, three USB-A 3.1 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 45W passthrough, and a dedicated cradle. Valve’s live price is preferable to older roundup references of about $89. The GripCase does not fit fully into that cradle, so check case compatibility if you want to leave the protective shell on.
For display output, Valve documents DisplayPort over USB-C up to 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz. Those are Deck hardware output limits, not a promise that Enshrouded will render at those resolutions or frame rates; in docked play, game performance remains constrained by the Deck’s hardware. Ethernet can be useful for online co-op, which supports up to 16 players, but Gaming On Steam’s published performance figures are for solo play, not a 16-player Deck session.
Rock Paper Shotgun’s James Archer summarizes the value question this way: “Don’t be too tempted by Valve’s official dock if you’re looking for the best Steam Deck dock – it’s well-made and matches the handheld’s styling, but some third-party models can do more for less.” The useful choice is the dock whose cradle, stand angle, ports, and case fit match your setup.
Which controller works well for docked play?
The Xbox Wireless Controller is Rock Paper Shotgun’s Steam Deck controller pick for docked comfort, and the compatibility report says controller glyphs match the Deck device. A separate controller is helpful when the Deck is connected to a TV or placed farther away on a desk. Keep Valve’s external-controller note in mind: the store lists full controller support, but a connected controller is not guaranteed to become the primary player automatically.
Should you add a cooling fan?
A clip-on or case-mounted fan is an optional accessory, not a proven Enshrouded-specific fix. The Deck’s APU power envelope is 4–15W, and a demanding game can keep the handheld working near the upper end. That makes heat a reasonable consideration during long sessions, especially when the device is held in both hands, but no Enshrouded-specific temperature study or measured fan benefit is established here.
JSAUX ModCase cooler attachments and GP0200-style clip-on fans are examples of the accessory category. Consider one only if you already have a reason to want active cooling and accept the extra bulk, noise, or attachment setup. Do not buy one expecting a specific temperature reduction or higher frame rate in this game.
Do you need a screen protector, carry case, or microSD card?
These are supporting purchases: they protect the display and device or make room for a larger library, but they do less for immediate hand comfort than a grip case or stand.

Screen protection and glare
The LCD Deck’s glass is unprotected from the factory. The 1TB OLED has etched anti-glare glass, making a screen protector less essential for that particular model. For other Decks, 2026 lists include Ivoler two-packs with an alignment frame, JSAUX anti-glare glass, Spigen GlasTR, and dbrand tempered glass. An anti-glare protector can help with reflections during a long building session near a window or under bright room lighting; a standard clear protector instead prioritizes a clear view.

Carrying a cased Deck
Valve’s included case is a baseline option. JSAUX hard-shell and tomtoc slim/G05 cases are alternatives cited for extra accessory or charger pockets. Check the exact interior dimensions against your case: a grip-cased Deck may not fit the slim inner carry case supplied with the 1TB OLED. A protective case that is inconvenient to close is less useful for travel than one sized for the assembled handheld.
Storage for a 60 GB game
Steam lists Enshrouded as requiring 60 GB of available space and recommends an SSD on PC. The Deck has 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, matching the game’s listed 16GB PC minimum and recommendation; that does not mean the handheld has memory to spare after SteamOS overhead. A microSD card is a convenient library expansion, though it does not replace the Deck’s system memory.
Valve specifies a UHS-I microSD slot supporting SD, SDXC, and SDHC. Samsung PRO Plus and SanDisk Extreme cards in A2/U3 configurations are recurring recommendations in 2026 roundups; 512GB is described as a common sweet spot, with 1TB an option when pricing allows. IGN reports up to 190MB/s read and 130MB/s write for the SanDisk Extreme 1TB card, while noting that the Deck’s slot tops out at 100MB/s. Buying a card for a higher advertised maximum therefore does not mean the Deck will reach that speed. GamepadSquire reported volatile NAND pricing, including a Samsung PRO Plus 1TB near $310 in mid-2026; treat that as a dated example, not a current universal price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you buy for a handheld, tabletop, or travel setup?
Choose a small kit around your usual posture instead of buying every accessory category. These combinations use the options above without assuming one setup suits every Deck owner.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- Start with the Skull & Co. GripCase SD for textured palm support and its stand.
- Add matching thumb grips if your thumbs slip on the stock sticks.
- For play away from an outlet, choose a 65W, 20,000mAh USB-C PD bank rather than a low-output phone charger.
- Add tempered glass if your model’s screen is not already etched anti-glare glass and you want extra protection.
Tabletop builder kit
- Use the GripCase stand or the ModCase kickstand to set the viewing angle without holding the Deck.
- Choose the Ugreen 9-in-1 if adjustable stand angle matters, or the JSAUX HB0603 if its listed port selection and reported price suit your desk.
- Add an Xbox Wireless Controller for play at a distance, while allowing for Steam Input or Bluetooth setup if needed.
Travel kit
- Choose a tomtoc or JSAUX carrying case only after confirming it fits the Deck with your grip case installed.
- Pack a 45W-or-higher PD bank for away-from-outlet sessions.
- Use a microSD card for library capacity if your internal drive is crowded, and protect the screen according to your Deck model.
OLED owners get some comfort benefits from the device itself: Valve specifies a 7.4-inch 1280×800 HDR OLED display with refresh rates up to 90Hz, a 50Whr battery, and a weight of about 640 grams. Valve says OLED is about 30 grams, or roughly 5%, lighter than LCD, and runs cooler with a larger fan. The 1TB OLED also includes premium anti-glare etched glass and a carrying case with a removable liner. Those differences can inform a buy-once decision, but they do not remove the value of a grip case or capable power bank for a demanding game.
What settings make Enshrouded more comfortable to play?
Comfort is partly about keeping the image readable and motion manageable without promising performance the Deck cannot sustain. Gaming On Steam’s recommended solo settings are to leave the game’s defaults in place, change FSR 3 from Performance to Quality, and enable frame generation. The outlet reported a cleaner image with most play in the 40–50 fps range and some dips into the 30s.
Gaming On Steam said frame generation adds some latency in dense monster and effects fights, but its tester preferred leaving it on because performance without it occasionally dipped below 30 fps and that was more noticeable. The Deck’s default configuration uses essentially the lowest preset with FSR 3 on Performance; the outlet described the image at that setting as soft on the 800p panel. Keen’s 1.0 changelog, as reported by Gaming On Steam, includes handheld and low-end performance improvements, CPU-load reductions, VRAM-saving methods, and a large reduction in point-light-shadow cost. Keen has also noted possible distant shadow flickering on the Performance preset and said it was investigating.

Older advice needs a date check. Switchblade Gaming’s August 11, 2026 guide called the game Unsupported and cited roughly 18–20 fps on default settings. That predates 1.0 and the October Verified announcement, so it should not be combined with 1.0 settings or performance figures. Gaming On Steam’s reported 40–50 fps band is a solo result; no published Deck performance range for 16-player co-op is established here, and larger sessions may be more demanding.

How did Enshrouded change for the Steam Deck in version 1.0?
The full 1.0 release arrived on October 15, 2026, after Early Access began on January 24, 2024. Steam’s store lists a $39.99 price and a $35.99 introductory price; the latter was an introductory offer, not the standard list price. Steam reported 87% positive English user reviews from 51,912 reviews in 2026, and Gaming On Steam reported more than 65,000 concurrent players on its test day.
Version 1.0 opened the full Embervale map, raised the level cap to 50, added Cinder’s Cradle, and introduced HDR. The game’s fully terraformable building system is especially relevant to accessory choice: players may spend substantial time placing and adjusting structures, so the ability to set the Deck down is more than a convenience for brief menu stops. Enshrouded supports solo and online co-op for up to 16 players; cross-platform play was not available at launch.
The game is a survival action RPG from Keen Games GmbH, built around exploring Embervale, confronting the corrupting Shroud, crafting, combat, and construction. Its controller-focused play and verified interface make handheld play viable, while its large world and sustained rendering load explain why grip, power, and tabletop ergonomics matter more here than they would for a short, low-demand game.
