Buy the dedicated Switch 2 edition when the display upgrade matters
Nintendo’s US product page describes gameplay at 1920×1080 and states 60 fps for the enhanced edition, compared with the original Switch baseline shown as 30 fps. The resolution statement applies to gameplay; it expressly excludes in-game videos, so it is not a promise that every scene or video is rendered at 1080p. The publisher notice displayed on Nintendo’s listing says, “This software can only be played on Nintendo Switch™ 2.” Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing identifies the edition and its modes.
This is a separate Switch 2 digital purchase. Owning the original Switch copy does not silently turn it into the enhanced edition. Existing owners should look for the owner-priced transaction in their account before selecting the normal price.
Buy the original Switch edition if that is your console
If you have an original Switch and do not plan to move to Switch 2, the original digital edition is the compatible choice. Nintendo lists it for Switch and also marks it as backward-compatible on Switch 2, with behavior consistent with the Switch version. A completed Chapter 1 demo save can transfer into the full PC game; an unfinished demo does not qualify. Steam also lists Achievements and Steam Cloud. What changes in the dedicated Switch 2 edition?
The documented change is a presentation upgrade, not a new story or a universal promise about every frame. Nintendo’s publisher description specifies 1920×1080 gameplay and a stated 60 fps, while the original Switch comparison baseline is 30 fps. Because the wording excludes in-game videos, cinematic or embedded video material should not be described as 1080p.

Nintendo lists handheld, tabletop, and TV modes for the Switch 2 edition. Its listed download is 3.5 GB. The original Switch listing specifies the same three play modes and a 3.2 GB download. These are store-page figures, not measurements of later patches or free storage after installation.

What the specification does not prove
- It does not establish measured frame-rate stability in every scene.
- It does not establish that the PC edition has higher resolution or steadier performance.
- It does not describe battery life, loading times, or image-quality comparisons from controlled tests.
The safest buying interpretation is that Switch 2 offers the only explicitly documented console presentation upgrade. A PC may suit your monitor and input preferences, but no controlled platform benchmark establishes it as technically superior for this title.

Is the Switch 2 upgrade free?
No. The enhanced release is a separate Switch 2 game purchase rather than an automatic patch to the original Switch copy.
US pricing and the owner offer
Shueisha Games’ English page publishes a US price of $17.99. Contemporaneous US launch reporting lists $17.99 for the Switch 2 edition and $0.99 for an existing Switch owner’s purchase. Treat the $0.99 amount as a reported, account-dependent offer: open the Nintendo eShop while signed into the account that owns the Switch edition and confirm the price at checkout. The offer is not evidence that every account, region, or future sale will receive the same amount.
Japan-only figures
Shueisha’s Japanese announcement lists ¥2,480 including tax for each Nintendo edition and ¥100 including tax for the existing-owner Switch 2 purchase. Those amounts are Japan-specific and should not be converted into a US checkout promise. The announcement is dated October 29, 2026 in Japan, while the US Nintendo listing records the enhanced edition as October 28, 2026; the difference reflects regional launch dating.
Can I play the Switch version on Switch 2?
Yes. Nintendo lists the original Switch edition as backward-compatible on Switch 2. It remains the original version’s behavior and feature set, however, rather than the dedicated edition’s documented presentation upgrade.
Why the two listings matter
There are two Nintendo digital products: the original Switch edition and the Switch 2 edition. The first is the compatibility path for an existing Switch purchase; the second is the enhanced software that can only be played on Switch 2. Which copy should an existing owner open?
If you are satisfied with the original presentation, launch the Switch edition you already own. If you specifically want the enhanced display specification, select the separate Switch 2 purchase and use the owner price if your account shows it.
Can I transfer my save after I start?
Only in a narrow, one-time window for the enhanced Nintendo edition. On the enhanced game’s first launch, you can transfer an eligible original-Switch save if you choose; the publisher says the transfer cannot be initiated later, and it cannot run backward from Switch 2 to Switch.
Safe order for a Switch owner moving to Switch 2
- Keep the original Switch save available on the Nintendo account or console migration path you use.
- Purchase and install the separate Switch 2 edition.
- On the enhanced edition’s first launch, choose the original-Switch save transfer when prompted if you want to continue that progress.
- Do not skip the first-launch decision expecting to reopen the transfer menu later.
The one-way rule means you should decide which edition will become your continuing save before starting the enhanced game. The documented transfer concerns Nintendo’s original-Switch save; it is separate from Steam’s demo-to-full-game progression.

When did each version launch?
Regional storefront dates differ. Nintendo’s US page records October 28, 2026 for the enhanced Switch 2 edition. Shueisha’s Japanese announcement gives October 29, 2026 at 00:00 Japan time. Original Switch and Steam storefront contexts display May 27, while the Japanese announcement states May 28. Use the date shown for your region and store rather than treating one market’s calendar date as universal.
Is there a physical Switch 2 copy?
The consulted US Nintendo product pages mark both Nintendo editions as Digital. They do not establish a physical game-card release, so do not assume an Amazon listing or a future regional product is the same software. Check the official store listing for your territory if a cartridge is important to you.
Do you need extra Switch 2 storage for this game?
No special accessory is required merely to install the listed 3.5 GB download. Nintendo documents 256 GB of internal Switch 2 storage and support for microSD Express expansion up to 2 TB; the console does not use ordinary microSD cards for this expansion path.
