The best Nvidia Shield accessories depend on what you want the device to do: choose the Logitech Pebble 2 for easier typing and navigation, the Samsung T7 1TB Portable SSD for local storage on SHIELD TV Pro, the Synology BeeStation 4TB for a network media library, or the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller for gaming. NVIDIA documents support for Bluetooth keyboards, mice and controllers, USB storage on SHIELD TV Pro, and network storage, so these picks match different supported uses rather than competing to solve the same problem.
Which Nvidia Shield accessory should you choose?
Start with the inconvenience you are trying to remove. A keyboard and mouse help with searches and menus; a USB drive adds local files to SHIELD TV Pro; a NAS makes a library available over the network; and a controller is for games. The storage options are not interchangeable: one attaches directly to the Pro, while the other is network storage that can serve multiple devices.
| Accessory | Best for | Connection | Capacity or performance | Owner rating reported by BGR | Setup consideration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Logitech Pebble 2 keyboard-and-mouse combo | Typing and navigating menus | Bluetooth or included Logi Bolt USB-A receiver | Can switch among up to three devices | 4.5/5 from nearly 1,600 Amazon reviews; reported in 2026 | Pair wirelessly or use the receiver |
| Samsung T7 1TB Portable SSD | Local media storage on SHIELD TV Pro | USB; includes a USB-C-to-USB-A cable | 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities; BGR reports read/write speeds up to 1,050 Mbps | 4.7/5 from more than 21,000 Amazon shoppers; reported in 2026 | Connect to the Pro’s USB port; NVIDIA recommends USB 3.0 flash drives for speed |
| Synology BeeStation 4TB | A network media library available to multiple devices | Network connection | 4TB | 3.8/5 from more than 270 Amazon reviews; reported in 2026 | Setup can be difficult |
| 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller | Android games and cloud gaming | Bluetooth or 2.4GHz USB-A receiver | Android 9.0 compatibility reported by BGR | 4.4/5 from more than 7,300 Amazon reviews; reported in 2026 | Pair by Bluetooth or connect the receiver |
These ratings and review counts are figures BGR reported in August 2026, not fixed or independently verified measurements here. Prices and availability can change; BGR listed the BeeStation at $365 at that time. It did not provide a price in the supplied product notes for the other three accessories.
What keyboard works with Nvidia Shield TV?
The Logitech Pebble 2 is a practical choice if you search often, enter passwords, or find the remote slow for moving through menus. NVIDIA says SHIELD supports Bluetooth accessories including wireless keyboards and mice; the Pebble 2 also offers its included Logi Bolt USB-A receiver as another connection route.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why use a keyboard-and-mouse combo?
The main benefit is control: typing a query is easier with keys than entering letters one at a time with a remote, and a mouse can make deeper menu navigation more direct. The Pebble 2 can switch among up to three devices, which is useful if you also intend to use the set with other compatible devices. That switching capability is not a Shield-specific feature.
Pick Bluetooth if you want to keep a USB port free and prefer not to use a receiver. Choose the Logi Bolt receiver if that is the connection you want and you have a suitable USB-A port available. The NVIDIA support information establishes Bluetooth keyboard and mouse support; it does not promise that every keyboard feature or every layout will behave identically in every app.
How do I add storage to SHIELD TV Pro?
For a media collection stored directly beside the player, connect an external drive to SHIELD TV Pro over USB. NVIDIA documents support for external USB flash drives and hard drives on the Pro and recommends USB 3.0 flash drives for speed. The Samsung T7 is the owner-rated SSD pick here, and BGR reports that it includes a USB-C-to-USB-A cable.

- Confirm the model. The USB-storage support cited here is specifically for SHIELD TV Pro; do not assume the same guidance applies to every SHIELD model.
- Choose capacity for your library. BGR lists the T7 in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities. Select based on the amount of media you actually plan to keep locally.
- Connect the drive. Use the supplied USB-C-to-USB-A cable to connect the SSD to an available USB-A port on the Pro.
- Check the Shield’s storage interface. Follow the on-screen prompts if the device presents them, and verify that the drive appears before relying on it for media playback. The supplied information does not establish a specific menu path, filesystem requirement, or formatting procedure.
What the T7’s speed figure does—and does not—tell you
BGR reports read/write speeds up to 1,050 Mbps for the T7. “Up to” is a product-performance claim, not a guarantee of the speed you will see through SHIELD TV Pro, in a particular file operation, or during playback. The available information does not include a Shield-side benchmark, so treat that number as a drive specification rather than a tested Shield result.
Local USB storage makes most sense when you want the media physically attached to the player. If several devices need access to one collection, a network storage device may fit better, but it brings additional setup and networking considerations.
Can Nvidia Shield use a NAS or Plex server?
SHIELD can connect to Network Addressable Storage over the network, according to NVIDIA. That makes the Synology BeeStation 4TB the option in this list for a shared media collection, rather than an SSD plugged into the Pro. BGR describes the BeeStation as suitable for a Plex library used across multiple devices, but also warns that setup can be difficult.

When network storage is the better fit
Choose a NAS-style setup if you want the same library available to more than one device or do not want the collection tied to a drive attached to the Shield. Network access does mean that the storage device and Shield depend on the home network being configured and available. NVIDIA’s networking guide says, “For maximum performance, Ethernet is recommended,” and specifies SHIELD Ethernet support at 10/100/1000 Mbps.
That recommendation is especially relevant when a large library or high-bitrate video makes reliable network throughput important. It is not a promise that every NAS, network setup, or Plex configuration will perform the same way. The supplied product information does not give the BeeStation’s network-interface specifications or document a step-by-step Plex setup, so check those requirements for your intended configuration before buying.
What is the best controller for Nvidia Shield?
The 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C is the gaming pick for SHIELD owners using Android games or cloud services. BGR reports that it supports Bluetooth pairing, includes a 2.4GHz USB-A receiver, and is compatible with Android 9.0. NVIDIA confirms that generic Bluetooth game controllers can pair with SHIELD.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Bluetooth avoids occupying a USB port for a receiver. The 2.4GHz receiver offers a separate wireless connection option if you prefer it and have a USB-A port available. The supplied information does not provide comparative latency tests, battery-life results, or a guarantee that every game supports every controller feature, so those details should not be inferred from the compatibility statement.
How should you decide between the four accessories?
- Choose the Pebble 2 if typing and moving through menus are your daily frustration.
- Choose the T7 if you have SHIELD TV Pro and want a drive physically connected for local files.
- Choose the BeeStation if sharing a media library across devices matters more than a simple plug-in setup.
- Choose the Ultimate 2C if you want a dedicated controller for Android or cloud gaming.
For the two storage choices, the key decision is location and access: USB storage is attached to the Pro, while network storage is reached over the network. For the two input choices, choose based on task: the keyboard is for text and navigation, while the controller is for games. There is no single best accessory if the need itself differs.
What should you check before buying?
- Identify your Shield model. The stated external USB storage support is for SHIELD TV Pro. The available data does not establish compatibility for every accessory with every Shield generation or model.
- Check available ports. Both the T7 cable and the controller’s 2.4GHz receiver use USB-A at the Shield end; Bluetooth is the receiver-free option for the Pebble 2 and controller.
- Decide whether the library is local or shared. A directly attached drive and network storage solve different access needs.
- Account for setup effort. The BeeStation is specifically noted as potentially difficult to configure; do not select it solely because its capacity is larger than the local SSD option.
- Recheck volatile details. Review totals, ratings, stock and prices change over time. The figures above reflect BGR’s August 2026 reporting, including the BeeStation’s then-listed $365 price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a wireless keyboard with SHIELD without a USB receiver?

Will the Samsung T7 reach 1,050 Mbps when connected to SHIELD TV Pro?
That figure is reported as the T7’s maximum read/write speed, not a measured result from a Shield. The available information does not establish the throughput a particular Pro setup will achieve.
Is the BeeStation’s $365 price still current?
The $365 figure is the price BGR listed in August 2026, not a guaranteed current price. Check the seller’s live listing for today’s price and availability.
Does Ethernet make every Plex stream on SHIELD faster?
NVIDIA recommends Ethernet for maximum networking performance and specifies 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet support on SHIELD. That does not guarantee a particular stream’s performance, which also depends on the network and the media setup.
