Choose Standard if you want the full game at the lower price; choose Digital Deluxe if five exclusive suits, five exclusive claws, four listed Technique Points and included avatar items are worth $10 more to you. In the US PlayStation Store listing checked October 30, 2026, Standard is $69.99 and Digital Deluxe is $79.99. Standard owners can also buy the separate $10 Deluxe-content upgrade later, so the choice does not have to be final on day one. Sony’s current edition listing describes a full digital game in Deluxe; the game is already released for PS5 and PS5 Pro.
| Name | Best for | Key spec | Free plan / price | Platforms | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Players who want the game without Deluxe cosmetics or bonuses | Full game; Deluxe content not included | $69.99 US | PS5, PS5 Pro | Oct 2026 |
| Digital Deluxe | Players who want its exclusive looks and included bonuses | Full digital game; five exclusive suits, five exclusive claws and four listed Technique Points | $79.99 US | PS5, PS5 Pro | Oct 2026 |
What is the difference between Standard and Digital Deluxe?
Both editions include the full game. Digital Deluxe adds appearance options and listed bonuses; it is not described in the current store listing as a different story or a separate gameplay edition. The key distinction is whether those extras justify the $10 difference for you.
That $10 is an incremental 14.3 percent over the $69.99 Standard price. In practical terms, you are not choosing between a short trial and a complete adventure. You are choosing whether to spend $79.99 up front for the same core PS5 game plus a bundle of cosmetic and progression-related items, or to keep the initial purchase at $69.99 and decide later.
Standard includes the game, not the Deluxe extras
Standard is the lower-cost full-game edition. It does not include the five Deluxe-exclusive suits or five Deluxe-exclusive claw appearances. The earlier preorder promotion also offered a Technique Point, Classic Brown suit, Reflective Claws and four avatars, but those were preorder incentives, not a benefit to assume comes with a new post-launch Standard purchase.

Because Wolverine launched on September 15, 2026, a new Standard purchase is not a preorder. Historical preorder wording may still appear on official pages, but it should not be read as a promise that a current Standard buyer receives those items. The currently sold Deluxe and upgrade listings are the pages that identify which bonuses are available now.
Digital Deluxe adds five exclusive suits and five exclusive claws
The current US Store listing names these five suits: Incredible, Savage, Night Hunt, New Leather and Age of Apocalypse. It lists five claw appearances: Smooth-Edged, Hollow Blade, Serrated Spine, Tapered and Thick. Insomniac says the Deluxe suits and claws are cosmetic. That means the listed distinction is how Wolverine can look, not a documented combat advantage.
The word “exclusive” matters here. It applies to the five named Deluxe suits and five named Deluxe claw styles. It does not mean every costume associated with the game is locked to Deluxe, and it does not turn the Deluxe package into a separate campaign. The available edition description does not establish an exclusive mission, ending, weapon system or multiplayer mode.
If you enjoy changing Wolverine’s appearance, the package gives you ten distinct visual options at launch: five suit looks and five claw looks. If you normally leave a character in the default outfit, the same ten items may have little practical value. The listing supports that preference-based judgment, but it does not provide a resale value or a measured gameplay benefit for any cosmetic.
There is a small naming difference across Sony’s official pages: the transactional Deluxe listing calls the suit Night Hunt, while the game-page FAQ calls it Night Hunter. The Store listing is the relevant page for the items being sold; the naming discrepancy does not indicate a sixth suit. See the Deluxe listing and Sony’s game page.
Classic Brown and Reflective Claws are early unlocks, not exclusive appearances
The Classic Brown suit and Reflective Claws were described as early unlocks in the preorder offer. Insomniac distinguishes those from items that are exclusive to Deluxe; do not treat the early-unlock wording as proof that Standard players are permanently barred from those two items. Conversely, it is not evidence that all five Deluxe-exclusive suits and five Deluxe-exclusive claws can be earned in Standard through normal progression.
For a current Deluxe buyer, these two named items are part of the listed bonus package alongside the avatars and Technique Points. For a current Standard buyer, the safe assumption is simply that the historical preorder promotion does not automatically apply. If a retailer advertises either item with a Standard copy, read that retailer’s exact terms rather than relying on an old announcement.

Digital Deluxe lists four Technique Points total
The current Deluxe listing includes four Technique Points. That total reconciles the launch announcement’s wording: it described three additional Deluxe Technique Points plus one Technique Point among the preorder incentives. Those figures should not be added together as though Deluxe grants seven points. The current listing also includes the Classic Brown and Reflective Claws early unlocks and four PlayStation avatars.
This is the most easily misunderstood number in the comparison. “Three additional” referred to the Deluxe portion of an earlier announcement, while the one-point figure appeared with the preorder incentives. The live product listing presents the package buyers can obtain now as four Technique Points total. Treat four as the applicable total for the current Deluxe and upgrade descriptions.
Technique Points are the only listed item that directly relates to progression or ability choices. The edition information does not quantify how many hours they save, which abilities they unlock first, or whether they can be earned through ordinary play. Therefore, choose Deluxe for the convenience of having the listed points at the start, not on the assumption that it creates a permanently stronger version of Wolverine.

Four avatars are profile items
Digital Deluxe also includes four PlayStation avatars. These are account-profile decorations rather than additional game missions or playable characters. They may matter to collectors or fans who want matching account artwork, but they do not change the campaign or combat systems described by Sony.
Is Digital Deluxe worth $10 more?
It is a personal-value decision, not a gameplay requirement established by the edition listings. Pay the extra $10 if you specifically want the exclusive appearances or value the included Technique Points and avatars; otherwise, Standard gets you the full game for less.
- Pick Standard if your priority is playing the game and the additional cosmetics do not matter to you.
- Pick Digital Deluxe if the five exclusive suits or five exclusive claws are a meaningful part of the purchase for you, or you value its listed Technique Points and avatars.
- Do not pay extra expecting exclusive story missions, a season pass or a performance advantage. The cited edition listings do not establish those as Deluxe benefits.
The value question is easier to answer by separating the bonuses. The suits and claws are appearance choices; the Technique Points are the listed gameplay-related bonus; and the avatars are profile items. If you care about only one category, base your decision on that rather than assuming all Deluxe extras matter equally.
Three useful buyer profiles
The straightforward player: Buy Standard. You receive the complete single-player, narrative-driven adventure for $69.99. Nothing in the edition listing says the campaign is shortened or that Standard uses a lower-fidelity version of the game.
The costume collector: Buy Digital Deluxe. The five suits and five claws are specifically identified as Deluxe-exclusive, so this is the edition that guarantees access to those listed looks without waiting for a separate offer.

The undecided buyer: Buy Standard and keep the $10 upgrade path in mind. At the observed prices, $69.99 plus the $10 add-on equals $79.99, the same as buying Digital Deluxe initially. The advantage is flexibility, not a lower eventual total. Prices and eligibility can change, so confirm the live listing when you decide.
Can you upgrade from Standard later?
Yes. Sony lists a separate $10 Deluxe-content upgrade for Standard owners. It is an add-on, not another copy of the game: the listing says Standard is sold separately and names the Deluxe bonuses.
This makes Standard a reasonable choice if you are unsure about the cosmetic package. You can start with Standard and decide later whether the listed Deluxe contents are worth the upgrade price. In the US listings checked October 30, 2026, the initial $69.99 Standard purchase plus the $10 upgrade totals $79.99—the same as the listed Digital Deluxe price, before any changes in price or availability. The upgrade is listed in the PlayStation Store.
The upgrade listing supports a path for Standard owners, including someone who owns a physical copy, but check that the Store listing and your game copy match your account’s region and edition before purchasing. The listing is digital content; it does not turn a digital game into a disc or supply a second copy of the game.

What if you want a physical copy?
Standard versus Digital Deluxe is one decision; disc versus download is another. PlayStation Direct lists a PS5 game, and Insomniac’s announcement named participating retailers, but those facts do not establish a physical Deluxe package. The full Deluxe listing is explicitly a digital game. If you are buying from a retailer, inspect that exact product page for format, region and seller rather than assuming a listing is a disc.
A physical Standard buyer who wants the Deluxe bonuses can consider Sony’s separate upgrade listing. Because the upgrade is an add-on and Standard is sold separately, it is not a replacement copy of the game. Verify the specific purchase and account-region compatibility instead of relying on an unrelated retailer’s description.
Use the product title, packaging photo and platform label to distinguish a disc from a code-in-box product. A retailer may use “PS5 edition” for either format. The safest search phrase for a disc hunt is Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 physical Standard Edition, followed by a check of the seller, region and return terms. No official physical Deluxe package is established by the edition listings summarized here.
Does the Wolverine console bundle include a disc?
No. Sony describes the yellow Wolverine bundle as a disc-free PS5 Digital Edition with a themed DualSense controller and a redeemable full-game voucher that requires a download. The voucher is not a disc, but you do not need a disc drive to redeem it.
A compatible disc drive is a separate purchase if you later want to use physical games with that console. That hardware question is separate from whether you choose Standard or Digital Deluxe: the bundle’s included voucher and the Store’s Deluxe purchase are digital paths. Sony’s bundle and accessories page describes what the themed console package contains.
Sony announced a $649.99 US recommended price for the themed Digital Edition bundle, an $84.99 price for the Battle Yellow or Adamantium DualSense, and $74.99 for named console covers. Those are launch recommended prices, not verified October 2026 selling prices or guarantees of stock. They are accessory and hardware costs, not alternative prices for Standard or Digital Deluxe.
If you already own a PS5, buying the controller or covers does not add a game license. Conversely, buying the console bundle gives you a voucher rather than a physical Deluxe box. Keep the hardware purchase, the included game entitlement and the edition bonuses as three separate questions.

Marvel’s Wolverine launched September 15, 2026; this is a post-launch buying decision, not a preorder guide. Sony identifies it as a single-player, narrative-driven PS5 game and lists PS5 Pro compatibility. It is not presented on the cited game page as a PS4 release. Check Sony’s game page for its current platform and game information.
The game is not described as open world or multiplayer in the cited official material. That matters when comparing editions: neither listing promises a multiplayer mode, open-world map access or a separate online entitlement. Both editions are versions of the same narrative adventure.
Sony also notes conditional PS5 and PS Portal cloud streaming with a Premium membership on its game information. That streaming condition does not create a separate Deluxe tier, and it is unrelated to third-party services. If you stream, use the PlayStation account and subscription requirements shown by Sony; the edition comparison remains the same.

What should you check before clicking buy?
- Confirm the platform. Select the PS5 product, not an unrelated accessory or a different platform listing. PS5 Pro compatibility is listed, but the game is not presented as a PS4 release.
- Confirm the edition name. Standard is the $69.99 full game; Digital Deluxe is the $79.99 full digital game with the named bonuses.
- Read the format. A Store purchase and the console-bundle voucher are digital. A retailer product must be checked for an actual disc, a code, region and seller.
- Check your account region. The upgrade and downloadable bonuses need to match the game and account region shown in the listing.
- Decide whether you want flexibility. Standard plus the listed $10 upgrade reaches the current Deluxe total, while buying Deluxe immediately avoids making a second purchase later.
- Ignore unsupported promises. Do not assume Deluxe includes missions, a season pass, better performance or seven Technique Points; those claims are not in the edition descriptions.
