There is no evidence-based single winner among GPU servers for AI and machine learning in 2026. The strongest shortlist combines three providers advertising whole-node, single-tenant hardware—Velyrix, Heaviside and GlassPearl—with two cloud-instance services, Lambda and CoreWeave. Those categories are not interchangeable: a dedicated server gives you an entire physical host, while a cloud GPU instance is a virtual machine backed by one or more GPUs.
For multi-GPU training, compare GPU memory, NVLink or NVSwitch topology, inter-node networking, storage and contract terms before looking at the headline rate. For bursty inference or experiments, hourly cloud capacity can be more practical. The figures below are provider-published and should be confirmed in a dated written quote covering region, stock, delivery, support and all additional charges.
What are the five GPU server options for AI and machine learning in 2026?
The shortlist below reflects what each provider publicly describes, not an independently tested ranking. Velyrix publishes the most complete whole-node specifications and indicative monthly prices. Heaviside and GlassPearl advertise dedicated configurations but do not provide enough comparable public pricing to rank them. Lambda and CoreWeave publish transparent GPU-hour rates for virtual machine capacity, which is useful for comparison but is not a verified bare-metal lease.
| Provider | Service model supported by the published information | GPU examples | Published billing basis | What must be verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Velyrix | Whole, single-tenant dedicated nodes with bare-metal access | 8× B200 SXM 180 GB, 8× H200 SXM 141 GB, 8× H100 SXM 80 GB | USD per node per month; lower annual-term figures are also shown | Written quote, tax, region, transit, stock, service terms and delivery date |
| Heaviside | Advertised dedicated GPU servers and custom clusters; the exact tenancy of each configuration needs confirmation | B200, H200, H100 and L40S configurations | Per-GPU hourly rates are displayed; whole-node pricing was not established | Whether the quoted SKU is an entire physical host, plus all-in monthly cost |
| GlassPearl | Advertised whole, dedicated nodes and scale-out networking | H100, H200, B200 and B300 nodes | No comparable public price was found | Price, region, live availability, topology, support and contract terms |
| Lambda | Linux GPU-backed virtual machine instances, from one to eight GPUs | B200 SXM6 and H100 SXM among the published choices | USD per GPU-hour; tax may apply | Instance tenancy, storage, egress, interruption policy and regional availability |
| CoreWeave | Cloud GPU instances with on-demand and spot capacity | HGX H100, H200 and B200 examples | USD per hour, varying by region and service category | Region, spot interruption terms, service eligibility and non-GPU charges |
NVIDIA describes HGX reference systems built around eight H100, H200 or B200 GPUs. That establishes a common eight-GPU architecture, not a performance ranking of the providers above. Actual throughput depends on software, data pipeline, network topology, power limits and workload.

What does dedicated mean for a GPU server?
A dedicated server should mean that one customer receives the whole physical host, rather than a virtual machine carved from a shared server. Ask the provider to state single tenancy and bare-metal access explicitly; marketing language alone is not sufficient.
Whole-node, single-tenant hardware
Velyrix describes 100% single tenancy, root access and IPMI or Redfish baseboard-management access for its listed nodes. A whole node normally includes all GPUs, the host CPU and RAM, local storage and the internal GPU fabric. You remain responsible for choosing the operating system, drivers, containers and workload configuration unless the contract includes managed operations.
Dedicated wording that still needs clarification
Heaviside advertises dedicated GPU servers and custom clusters, but the available information does not establish that every displayed hourly configuration is a complete physical host. GlassPearl describes whole dedicated H100, H200, B200 and B300 nodes, yet price, stock and service details require direct confirmation. In both cases, request the exact chassis and tenancy statement in writing.
Cloud GPU instances
Lambda documentation calls its products GPU-backed virtual machine instances. CoreWeave also presents GPU configurations as cloud capacity with on-demand and spot rates. An eight-GPU virtual machine may expose the same accelerator family as an eight-GPU server, but it does not automatically provide exclusive use of the host, the same storage path, or the same network guarantees.
Which dedicated whole-node servers should I evaluate first?
Velyrix: the clearest published whole-node example
Velyrix lists three eight-GPU SXM nodes with indicative USD list prices per node per month. The page states that prices exclude tax and cross-region transit and are confirmed by written quotation.
| Node | GPU memory configuration | Indicative monthly list price | Indicative monthly price on listed annual term |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8× B200 SXM | 180 GB per GPU | $49,500 | $44,100 |
| 8× H200 SXM | 141 GB per GPU | $31,100 | $27,700 |
| 8× H100 SXM | 80 GB per GPU | $24,000 | $21,400 |
Velyrix states term lengths from one to 36 months, provisioning from two hours to 10 days, and bandwidth choices from 1GE to 100GE or unmetered AI-DIA. These are provider-stated terms, not independently verified guarantees. The quote should specify whether the selected bandwidth, storage, support and egress are included.

Heaviside: useful when you need a custom cluster quote
Heaviside advertises B200, H200, H100 and L40S configurations, along with custom clusters and dedicated GPU servers. The source displays per-GPU hourly rates, but a comparable whole-node price was not established. Treat it as a request-for-quote candidate: provide your required GPU count, host RAM, local NVMe, network fabric and contract term, then ask the provider to identify whether the response is bare metal or virtualized.
GlassPearl: a scale-out option that needs commercial validation
GlassPearl describes whole, dedicated H100, H200, B200 and B300 nodes and scale-out networking. No comparable public price was available, so a direct quote is necessary before it can be compared with the monthly Velyrix figures. Require the quote to name the GPU SKU, interconnect, node-to-node fabric, region, delivery date and cancellation terms.
When are Lambda or CoreWeave a better fit than a leased server?
Cloud instances are often preferable when demand is irregular, a project needs only a few hours or days of acceleration, or a team wants to scale capacity without negotiating a long hardware lease. They are less suitable as a like-for-like substitute for a single-tenant server when host isolation, fixed hardware and predictable networking are contractual requirements.
Lambda GPU instances
Lambda publishes one- through eight-GPU Linux virtual machine instances. Its displayed prices range from $6.69 to $6.99 per GPU-hour for B200 SXM6 and from $3.99 to $4.29 per GPU-hour for H100 SXM, depending on the displayed instance size. Taxes may apply. The GPU-hour price does not by itself tell you the cost of local storage, persistent storage, data transfer, operating support or idle time.
CoreWeave GPU instances
For North America, CoreWeave lists an eight-GPU HGX B200 configuration at $68.80 per hour on demand and $34.11 per hour spot. An eight-GPU HGX H100 is listed at $49.24 per hour on demand and $19.71 per hour spot. Other regions and service categories have different rates, and some GPU-based pricing is limited to inference-platform customers. Spot capacity can be economical for restartable jobs, but your quote or service documentation must define interruption behavior and any notice provided.

How should I compare GPU memory and card count?
Start with the model’s memory footprint, then add room for optimizer states, activations, framework overhead and the batch size you need. A larger number of GPUs does not compensate for insufficient memory per card when the model cannot be partitioned efficiently.

- H100 SXM, 80 GB per GPU: suitable for many training and inference workloads when the model and runtime fit within that memory envelope.
- H200 SXM, 141 GB per GPU: provides substantially more memory per accelerator for larger models, longer context windows or larger batches.
- B200 SXM, 180 GB per GPU: offers the largest per-GPU memory figure in the listed Velyrix configurations, but the higher node price must be justified by utilization and performance requirements.
- L40S: appears in Heaviside’s advertised configurations; the available information does not provide a comparable memory, price or benchmark table for it.
- B300: appears in GlassPearl’s node descriptions, but no public specification or price was established here.
Eight GPUs is a common reference-system size, not a mandatory purchase. A single-GPU or smaller virtual machine can be the economical choice for fine-tuning, development and inference. Conversely, distributed training may require eight GPUs in one node or several nodes connected by a high-bandwidth fabric.
Why do NVLink, NVSwitch and inter-node networking matter?
Training jobs that communicate frequently between GPUs can lose much of their potential if data has to cross a slow host or network link. Compare the internal GPU-to-GPU path and the external node-to-node fabric separately.
Inside the server
NVIDIA’s HGX architecture uses an eight-GPU design with high-speed GPU interconnects. Velyrix lists NVLink and NVSwitch configurations for its nodes. Ask whether the quoted SKU includes the expected SXM interconnect topology, how many links are available, and whether all GPUs can communicate at the advertised bandwidth rather than through a reduced path.

Between servers
For multi-node training, Velyrix lists InfiniBand options for multi-node pods. A provider should state the adapter speed, oversubscription, topology, collective-communication support and whether the fabric is reserved for your cluster. A nominal 100GE port does not prove that a distributed workload will receive predictable east-west bandwidth.
Inference and latency-sensitive services
Inference often values memory capacity, utilization and latency more than maximum training throughput. A cloud instance close to your users or data may beat a more powerful remote node once transfer time and egress are included. Measure end-to-end latency with your model and batch policy rather than selecting solely by GPU generation.
How do I normalize the price of a dedicated GPU server?
Do not compare a monthly bare-metal lease directly with a GPU-hour figure. Put every option on the same workload and contract basis, then add costs that are easy to omit.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Choose the workload window. Estimate accelerator hours, idle time, development time and the number of months you will actually operate the service.
- Match GPU count and SKU. Compare eight H100 GPUs with eight H100 GPUs, not one B200 GPU with an entire H100 node. Record memory per card and the SXM or PCIe form factor.
- Separate committed and interruptible capacity. Keep on-demand, annual-term and spot prices in different columns. A spot rate is not a guaranteed equivalent to a reserved node.
- Add host resources. Include CPU, system RAM, local NVMe, persistent storage, backup storage and any storage operations fees.
- Add connectivity charges. Record included bandwidth, egress, cross-region transit, public IPs and private-fabric charges. Velyrix specifically excludes cross-region transit from its indicative figures.
- Add commercial overhead. Include setup, tax, support, software licensing, minimum commitment, renewal rules and cancellation charges.
- Apply the provider’s availability terms. A low rate with no stock or an uncertain delivery date is not a usable capacity plan.
| Published figure | What it represents | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Velyrix $49,500 per month for 8× B200 | Indicative monthly price for one listed dedicated node | Tax, cross-region transit, final quote, stock or measured performance |
| Lambda $6.69–$6.99 per B200 GPU-hour | Displayed rate per GPU-hour for virtual machine instance sizes | Whole-host tenancy, storage, egress, taxes or uninterrupted availability |
| CoreWeave $68.80 per hour for eight-GPU B200 on demand in North America | Provider-published regional on-demand instance rate | Other regions, spot reliability, non-GPU charges or bare-metal equivalence |
What should I request in a written quote?
Send every shortlisted provider the same specification sheet. This prevents a low headline price from hiding a different machine, region or service level.
- Exact GPU model, memory, count and SXM or PCIe form factor.
- Whole-host tenancy statement and bare-metal, root and BMC access.
- CPU model and core count, system RAM, local NVMe capacity and storage redundancy.
- NVLink or NVSwitch topology, network adapters, InfiniBand or Ethernet fabric and oversubscription.
- Usable public and private bandwidth, traffic caps, egress and cross-region charges.
- Datacenter region, power and cooling responsibility, and any maintenance window.
- Provisioning date, stock status, substitution policy and a price-lock period.
- Setup fees, tax treatment, contract length, renewal, cancellation and early-termination terms.
- Support response targets, replacement procedure, incident communication and service-level agreement.
- Whether software images, drivers, orchestration and monitoring are included or customer-managed.
Ask the provider to date the quote. GPU supply and regional pricing can change, and an undated web price is not a capacity reservation.

Large-model pretraining
Prioritize GPU memory, intra-node links and the scale-out fabric. An eight-GPU H200 or B200 node may reduce model partitioning pressure compared with an 80-GB H100 node, while multi-node jobs require a documented InfiniBand or equivalent network. A committed whole-node lease is easier to plan around than interruptible spot capacity.
Fine-tuning and experimentation
Use the smallest configuration that holds the model, optimizer and target batch size. Lambda’s one- through eight-GPU virtual machines can let a team start with a single card and expand for scheduled runs. Move to a dedicated node only when utilization, data locality or isolation justifies the commitment.
Production inference
Compare memory headroom, latency, concurrency and uptime requirements. CoreWeave’s regional instance prices and Lambda’s hourly rates can support elastic demand, but the service contract must cover availability, scaling limits and traffic charges. A dedicated node can be more predictable when utilization is high and steady.

What are the main risks when buying a GPU server?
- Confusing a virtual machine with a physical server: require a tenancy clause and host-access details.
- Comparing unlike billing units: normalize node-month, GPU-hour, on-demand, annual and spot prices before drawing a conclusion.
- Ignoring data movement: storage and egress can dominate the bill when datasets or inference traffic cross regions.
- Assuming advertised capacity is available: obtain a stock confirmation and delivery date for the exact SKU.
- Overlooking topology: eight GPUs connected through a weak path may scale worse than fewer GPUs with a better fabric.
- Accepting substitutions without approval: a different GPU generation, memory size or form factor can change software behavior and cost.
- Relying on provider capability statements as benchmarks: run a representative training or inference test and record software versions, batch size and precision.
- Leaving support undefined: specify incident response, hardware replacement, maintenance windows and escalation contacts.
How should I make a final choice?
Choose Velyrix when you need a clearly described single-tenant eight-GPU node and can work with a monthly commitment subject to quotation. Approach Heaviside or GlassPearl when their custom configurations, regions or networking match your requirements, but insist on a complete whole-node quote before comparing prices. Choose Lambda or CoreWeave when elastic, hourly cloud capacity outweighs the benefits of fixed physical tenancy; label the choice as a cloud instance rather than a dedicated server.
The best purchase is the one whose GPU memory, interconnect, location, availability and contract match the workload. The published figures establish useful starting points, but they do not establish a universal performance winner or an all-in cost across providers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an eight-GPU cloud instance be used for distributed training?
Yes, provided the instance exposes the required GPU-to-GPU topology and your framework supports it. Confirm whether communication stays inside one host, what virtualized networking limits apply, and whether the provider’s storage path can feed all accelerators at your target rate.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Are B200 prices directly comparable between providers?
Not without checking the form factor, memory, host configuration and billing unit. A B200 SXM GPU-hour, an eight-GPU HGX node-hour and a monthly bare-metal lease can include different networking, storage and support, even when the GPU family is the same.
What if the provider substitutes a different GPU after I sign?
Require written approval for any substitution and define an equivalent-or-better rule covering memory, interconnect, performance and price. Your contract should also state whether you can cancel without penalty if the specified hardware cannot be delivered.
Do I need all eight GPUs to train a model?
No. Smaller fine-tuning and development jobs may run efficiently on one or a few GPUs, while large pretraining jobs can need eight GPUs per node and several nodes. Profile memory use and scaling efficiency before committing to the largest configuration.
How can I keep taxes from distorting a price comparison?
Record whether each published figure is tax-inclusive, tax-exclusive or calculated at checkout, then apply the same tax treatment for your billing entity and region. Keep tax, cross-border fees and egress as separate line items so they do not get mistaken for GPU capacity cost.
