Sugarcane has the highest base-game direct-sale gross in Farming Simulator 25 in the Easy-difficulty, handbook-reference comparison: about $80,968 per hectare. But that figure is not a profit estimate, and cane’s very high harvest volume and specialized equipment make it a poor automatic choice for a small or standard-combine farm. For a conventional combine setup, soybeans are the practical pick: their gross is nearly tied with several other grains, but there is less crop to harvest and haul.

The figures below use Easy average prices and the handbook-reference yield layer, which reflects a full yield bonus. Your save can produce a different receipt because difficulty, fieldwork bonuses, season, map, and selling point affect the result. The 2026 comparison by Univers-Simu, based on GIANTS handbook values, remained compatible with patch 1.24; the listed patch 1.25 notes focus on bug fixes, quality-of-life changes, and machines rather than a crop-price rewrite.

At a glance

Name Best for Key spec Checked
Sugarcane Maximum base-game direct-sale gross High-value crop, but over 200,000 L/ha to harvest in the reference comparison Oct 2026
Carrots, sugar beet, potatoes, or parsnips A farm equipped for specialized root and vegetable harvests Strong gross per hectare with substantial crop volume and dedicated machinery needs Oct 2026
Soybeans Standard combine farm Near-tied grain gross with 9,000 L/ha in the reference comparison Oct 2026
Spinach A farm that already has the specialized harvester Two cuts can raise its annual gross substantially when the timing works Oct 2026
Long-grain rice A farm planning to process crops Rice bags have the largest value-add percentage in the cited production comparison Oct 2026
Coffee cherries Owners of the Beans & Alpacas Expansion High direct-sale gross from a perennial plantation; requires the expansion Oct 2026

What does “most money” mean in FS25?

For the ranking in this guide, it means estimated gross revenue from selling a hectare’s harvest, before expenses. The calculation is yield per hectare × average sale price per 1,000 L ÷ 1,000. For example, Univers-Simu’s wheat reference calculation is 17,800 L × $1,011 ÷ 1,000, or about $17,996 per hectare.

That is not net income. It does not subtract seed, fertilizer, fuel, machine wear, or the cost of buying or leasing equipment. Nor is it a guarantee of the amount a save will earn: the Farming Simulator Wiki labels its average sale prices as Easy difficulty (New Farmer), and selling prices vary by month, map, and sell point.

There is also a yield-layer distinction behind conflicting online tables. The Wiki and Univers-Simu use handbook-reference crop yields; those figures are about twice the unboosted harvest figures on farmingsimdata.com. For example, the reference wheat yield is 17,800 L/ha, compared with 8,900 L/ha on that site. Treat the former as the high, full-bonus reference layer—not a promise that every field will produce that much.

Which base-game crops have the highest direct-sale gross?

On the Easy / handbook-reference basis, sugarcane leads the base-game annual crop comparison, followed by carrots, sugar beet, potatoes, and parsnips. These gross-per-hectare figures are useful for comparing crop value, but the table’s liters per hectare also hint at the harvesting and transport burden.

Is sugarcane actually the best crop for a normal farm?

It is the highest base-game annual crop by reference gross per hectare, but it is not necessarily the easiest way to earn money. Sugarcane yields 226,800 L/ha in this comparison, so even a modest field creates a large harvesting and hauling job. The crop also uses 12,000 L of seed per hectare; the player-built v1.0.2 spreadsheet prices that seed at $2,280/ha on its own assumptions.

Root crops and vegetables offer similarly high paper returns, but they bring their own machinery and logistics demands. Carrots produce 154,000 L/ha in the reference table; sugar beet and red beet each produce 115,600 L/ha; potatoes produce 82,600 L/ha. A 10-hectare carrot field would mean more than 1.5 million liters to move if it achieves the reference yield. Specialized harvesters and ample transport capacity matter as much as the headline gross.

Machine fit can change the practical ranking. Rice requires a specialized path for paddy fields, including a rice planter and harvester; the Wiki lists the Iseki PRJ8D and HJ6130. Potatoes, beets, cotton, and sugarcane also call for crop-specific harvesting arrangements rather than a straightforward grain-combine workflow.

What is the best crop for a standard combine?

There is no decisive gross winner among the main conventional-combine choices: sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers, canola, and corn all land within about $200 per hectare of one another in the Easy / handbook-reference figures. If hauling time and field throughput matter, soybeans are the practical choice because their reference yield is only 9,000 L/ha, roughly half the corn volume.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Here is the tight gross cluster:

  • Sorghum: $21,156/ha at 16,400 L/ha.
  • Soybeans: $20,997/ha at 9,000 L/ha.
  • Sunflowers: $20,987/ha at 10,400 L/ha.
  • Canola: $20,973/ha at 11,600 L/ha; its reference seed requirement is just 7 L/ha.
  • Corn: $20,958/ha at 18,400 L/ha.

So the decision is less about a meaningful revenue gap and more about the farm’s intended use, volume, seed input, and equipment. Canola’s small seed requirement may appeal to a cost-conscious operation; corn has a silage route; soybeans reduce the amount of grain that must be hauled for similar gross. The figures do not assign a value to labor time or machine capacity.

Can spinach make more money with two harvests?

Potentially. GIANTS Software’s official spinach preview says planting in March or April can allow two harvests in one season if the player does not waste time. The preview gives about 10 L of seed and 23,100 L of yield per hectare, with an average price of about $660 per 1,000 L and a June harvest for the first cut; it also identifies the OXBO MKB-4TR as the specialized harvester.

The Wiki’s 46,200 L/ha spinach figure is double the preview’s yield, consistent with the same 100% yield-bonus relationship seen in other crops. Univers-Simu estimates that two successful cuts could approach $60,900/ha at handbook prices, putting optimized spinach near carrots in annual gross. That is a conditional annual potential, not the one-cut row in the crop table; GIANTS also advises applying the usual yield improvements to spinach regrowth.

Does processing change which crop is most lucrative?

Yes. Selling raw crops ranks fields by their direct-sale gross; processing ranks the added value of a production chain. Univers-Simu’s October 2026 production comparison for FS25 patch 1.24 estimates the following value increases from raw input to finished product. These are technical-value uplifts, not guaranteed profit margins: factory purchase and operating costs, recipes, throughput, and the time crops spend in production affect the result.

Long-grain rice is a useful example of why raw ranking and factory ranking differ. Its direct-sale gross is below paddy rice, but its rice-bag chain has the largest cited processing uplift. The recipe comparison uses 100 L of long-grain rice to make 45 L of rice bags, with technical values of 53 and 122.85 respectively. For wheat, the cited chain mills 5 L of wheat into 4 L of flour, then bakes 90 L of flour into 45 L of bread.

Not every factory recipe is equally rewarding. The comparison places peas-to-canned peas at about +12% and green beans at about +18%, while cotton clothing adds about +13% despite cotton’s high raw-crop price. A cannery or factory should therefore be judged by its exact recipe and input supply, not by the word “processing” alone.

Are any DLC or perennial crops more profitable?

They can be, but they do not belong in the base-game annual-crop ranking without qualification. Their availability, planting cycle, or equipment differs from ordinary field crops.

Coffee cherries: Beans & Alpacas Expansion

The Beans & Alpacas Expansion, released on 27 October 2026, adds coffee cherries. The Wiki’s Easy figures give 36,800 L/ha at $2,190 per 1,000 L, or about $80,592/ha in raw gross. Coffee is a plantation crop: plant from September to November, harvest from May to August, and allow an eight-month growth period. The Wiki lists fungicide once per cycle using the KUHN AFS 600 unless disease is disabled, and the Case IH Coffee Express 200 Multi for harvesting.

Processing can take cherries through coffee bags and capsules or packed coffee, with further beverage and food products such as tiramisu and coffee yogurt. The $80,592 figure is raw-sale gross, so it should not be treated as the value of a processed coffee chain or as directly interchangeable with an annual field-crop return.

Onions, bananas, grapes, and olives

Onions, from the Highlands Fishing Expansion, produce a listed $52,500/ha from 70,000 L/ha at $750 per 1,000 L; they are planted in March–April and harvested in August–September, with 5 L of seed per hectare. Bananas, from Beans & Alpacas, are listed at $11,550/ha from 15,400 L/ha, but grow year-round as a plantation.

Grapes and olives are perennial base-game placeables. The crop table’s listed 18,400 L at $1,808 per 1,000 L implies about $33,267/ha for each; the table lists no annual seed cost. Patch 1.25 allows vineyards to be planted year-round and adds boundary painting for vineyards and olive orchards. Because these are perennial plantings, setup costs and harvest cadence make a simple annual-crop gross comparison incomplete.

Which crops suit a starter farm or a mixed operation?

Wheat, barley, and oats can fit a farm that values straw as well as grain, especially when livestock are part of the plan. On the farmingsimdata.com base-yield layer, each of those grains is listed with 36,800 L of straw per hectare; its net-income calculations including straw are about $4,120 for wheat, $4,180 for barley, and $4,113 for oats, compared with roughly $2,600–$2,671 for grain alone on that site’s assumptions. Those are not the same yield layer as the Easy / handbook-reference crop ranking above.

Barley has the largest grain yield among those three in the handbook-reference table at 19,200 L/ha. Corn can instead feed a silage route, while grass can be harvested repeatedly: the Wiki lists 87,400 L/ha at $135 per 1,000 L for its listed yield, and a player-built spreadsheet models multiple grass-silage cuts. These options add uses and work schedules that a single raw-grain gross number cannot represent.

Poplar also needs separate treatment from an annual field crop. The Wiki’s raw figure is 56,400 L at $119 per 1,000 L, or $6,712/ha. A player-built spreadsheet applies a 3× yield multiplier to forage-harvester woodchips and estimates $275,780/ha on Normal difficulty with a 42.5% bonus. That striking result comes with the spreadsheet’s warning that its comparison does not account for the hours needed to grow, harvest, transport, and sell crops; it is not a simple short-cut to profit.

How can you improve the amount a field earns?

Yield improvements raise the number of liters available to sell, so crop care affects gross revenue even when the selling price is unchanged. Univers-Simu highlights weed control, lime, ploughing when required, rolling after sowing, and fertilization. Rolling is a smaller bonus; fertilization is the larger one.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Check field needs before planting. Look for weeds, lime requirements, and whether ploughing is required, then account for those jobs in the crop’s input and equipment plan.
  2. Plan for fertilization. The cited comparison identifies fertilization as the major yield-improvement step; include the associated product, machinery, and field time when estimating net return.
  3. Roll after sowing when appropriate. Rolling provides a smaller yield bonus, so it can contribute to the result without changing the crop’s price ranking by itself.
  4. For spinach, preserve the regrowth window. Plant early enough for the possible second cut and apply the usual yield improvements to the regrowth as GIANTS advises.

Precision Farming is available, and the 1.23.1.0 changelog says it fixed yield calculations when harvesting multiple crop types. A player spreadsheet comment that Precision Farming caps yield bonus at +25% rather than the base game’s +100% is marked uncertain in that spreadsheet; treat that specific cap as unverified rather than planning a budget around it.

Which crop should you choose for your farm?

Choose based on what your farm can harvest, haul, and sell—not only the largest gross figure. The best fit depends on whether you want maximum paper value per hectare, a manageable combine crop, a processing chain, or a crop that supports animals and other farm systems.

  • Maximum base-game annual gross: sugarcane, if you can handle its volume and specialized harvest logistics.
  • High-volume specialist operation: carrots, sugar beet, potatoes, or parsnips, provided the dedicated equipment and transport capacity make sense for your acreage.
  • Standard combine and easier hauling: soybeans; sorghum and canola are close on gross, with canola requiring only 7 L of seed per hectare in the reference data.
  • Already equipped for spinach: two cuts can make spinach competitive with the leading raw crops, but timing and the specialized harvester are essential.
  • Factory-oriented farm: long-grain rice for the cited rice-bag uplift, or sugarcane for sugar, after weighing the cost and throughput of the production building.
  • Starter farm with animals: wheat, barley, or oats when straw has a use on the farm; corn and grass can support silage plans.
  • Expansion owner seeking plantation income: coffee cherries are the standout raw-sale figure among the listed DLC crops, but require Beans & Alpacas and a longer plantation cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do two FS25 crop calculators show different yields?

They may be using different yield layers or bonus assumptions. For instance, farmingsimdata.com lists base harvest volumes that are about half the Wiki and handbook-reference figures, so compare the stated yield basis before comparing revenue totals.

Does FS25 crop profitability change on Normal or Hard difficulty?

Yes. A player-built v1.0.2 spreadsheet models Easy, Normal, and Hard with a 42.5% yield bonus; in its model, sugarcane gross is about $60,574 on Easy, $36,344 on Normal, and $20,191 on Hard per hectare. Those are that spreadsheet’s estimates, not universal receipts for every save.

Is oilseed radish a profitable crop to sell?

It is treated as a cover crop rather than a cash crop in the cited farmingsimdata figures. That source estimates its net at about −$50/ha, so its role is field improvement rather than direct-sale income.

Can I plant vineyards in any month in FS25?

Patch 1.25 allows vineyards to be planted year-round and adds boundary painting for vineyards and olive orchards. That update affects placement flexibility; it does not make their perennial harvest schedule equivalent to an annual grain crop.
