The right way to watch Team USA basketball is to identify the team (men’s or women’s), competition, date and country first, then use that game’s official “Watch” listing. There is no single year-round Team USA channel. Olympic games, FIBA World Cup qualifiers, World Cups and exhibitions can have different rights holders and streaming services.
In the United States, selected future coverage tied to the 2028, 2032 and 2036 Olympics is planned for Peacock through NBCUniversal, while other windows may appear on services such as DAZN through Courtside 1891, HBO Max or truTV. Those examples apply only to the events identified by USA Basketball or NBCUniversal; they are not a guarantee for every game. Check the current USA Basketball or competition schedule immediately before subscribing or setting up a device.
Start with the exact Team USA game
“Team USA basketball” can mean several different competitions. A men’s FIBA World Cup qualifier may use a different broadcaster from a women’s Olympic game, and an exhibition can have another arrangement entirely. Before looking for a stream, record these four details:

- Team: men’s or women’s national team.
- Competition: Olympic tournament, FIBA World Cup, FIBA qualifying window, exhibition or another event.
- Date and tip time: confirm the time zone shown by the official schedule.
- Country: viewing rights are territorial, so a U.S. service may not be available where you live.
Open the official USA Basketball schedule, or the official schedule for the competition, and read the individual game’s “Watch,” “Broadcast” or equivalent field. That listing is more reliable than assuming that the service used for the previous game will carry the next one.

U.S. viewing options by event
| Event or window | Viewing route identified by the official source | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Selected Team USA games leading into the 2028, 2032 and 2036 Olympics | Peacock for most of the coverage described in NBCUniversal’s July 24, 2024 rights announcement; authenticated NBC digital services may also apply to Olympic coverage. | This is a future rights package, not a promise that every Team USA game will be on Peacock. |
| Women’s pre-FIBA World Cup games in 2026, 2030 and 2034 | Included in the pre-World-Cup coverage named in NBCUniversal’s announcement; confirm the final game listing. | The announcement identifies years and a package, not a complete channel list for each fixture. |
| Men’s pre-FIBA World Cup games in 2027, 2031 and 2035 | Included in the pre-World-Cup coverage named in NBCUniversal’s announcement; confirm the final game listing. | Do not treat this as coverage of every men’s FIBA tournament or qualifier. |
| 2028 Los Angeles Olympic basketball | Peacock is scheduled to stream every Olympic event live. NBC Olympics also describes authenticated live streams through NBC Olympics, NBC.com, the NBC app and the NBC Sports app. | The schedule is provisional and the access method can depend on whether you have the required subscription or a participating TV login. |
| Men’s FIBA World Cup qualifying Window 4, August 2026 | DAZN through Courtside 1891 or HBO Max, according to USA Basketball’s August 20, 2026 announcement. | This window is completed. Use it as an example of event-specific distribution, not as a current listing. |
| Women’s qualifying tournament, March 11–17, 2026 | truTV and HBO Max, as listed on the USA Basketball women’s schedule. | This tournament in San Juan is completed. A future women’s event may use different outlets. |
Do not compare these services as if they were interchangeable basketball packages. The useful question is whether a service carries this exact game in your country, whether access is live or replay-only, and what login or plan is required.
Which service should you choose?
Start with coverage, not brand familiarity. Peacock is the clearest starting point when the official listing places a specified Olympic or NBCUniversal-covered lead-in game there. Courtside 1891 through DAZN is relevant only when USA Basketball identifies it for that qualifying window. HBO Max and truTV likewise matter only when the event listing names them.
A platform’s basketball catalog, highlights section or prior Team USA broadcast does not establish rights to the next game. A service may show a replay in one country while carrying a live feed in another, or may require a television-provider login for one stream and a direct subscription for another. Open the game page while signed out, if possible, to see whether the event is visible and what access prompt appears before paying.
What NBCUniversal’s Team USA rights cover
NBCUniversal’s July 24, 2024 announcement says it acquired rights to Team USA men’s and women’s games leading into the Olympics in 2028, 2032 and 2036. It also names women’s pre-FIBA World Cup games in 2026, 2030 and 2034, and men’s pre-FIBA World Cup games in 2027, 2031 and 2035. The announcement says the majority of that specified coverage will be exclusive to Peacock.
The wording matters. It describes selected lead-in and pre-World-Cup games, not every national-team appearance, every FIBA tournament or every exhibition. The announcement was made in 2024, so the final outlet, start time and game-by-game availability still need to be confirmed on the current schedule.
How to check a game’s broadcaster
- Open the current official schedule. Use USA Basketball for national-team fixtures or the governing competition’s own schedule for an Olympic or FIBA tournament.
- Choose the correct team and competition. Men’s and women’s pages can list different rights holders even during the same international window.
- Verify the date and tip time. Check the displayed time zone and look again near game day because venues and start times can change.
- Read the “Watch” or broadcast field. Treat the named channel or service as the authority for that game. Do not infer coverage from a general NBCUniversal, Peacock, DAZN, HBO Max or truTV relationship.
- Check geographic eligibility. Confirm that the service offers the game in your country and that your account type is accepted there. The published U.S. examples do not constitute a complete international guide.
- Confirm the access requirement. A service may require a paid subscription, a participating cable, satellite or telco login, or a separate sports entitlement.
- Test your device before tip-off. Sign in, update the app and play another video so that account or network problems are found early.
Upcoming men’s qualifying windows
As of the USA Basketball men’s schedule accessed October 7, 2026, the 2025–27 FIBA World Cup qualifying schedule lists four upcoming dates:
| Date | Opponent | Status shown on the schedule |
|---|---|---|
| November 27, 2026 | Brazil | Some location and time details were still marked unconfirmed. |
| November 30, 2026 | Colombia | Some location and time details were still marked unconfirmed. |
| February 25, 2027 | Chile | Some location and time details were still marked unconfirmed. |
| February 28, 2027 | Brazil | Some location and time details were still marked unconfirmed. |
Because the schedule contained unconfirmed fields on that date, do not publish or rely on an exact venue, local start time or broadcaster without reopening the listing. Broadcast assignments can be added after the opponent and window are announced.

Historical examples that show why the listing matters
Men’s Window 4 in August 2026
USA Basketball’s August 20, 2026 announcement said the United States played Chile on August 27 and Colombia on August 31. It identified Courtside 1891 on DAZN or HBO Max as the viewing routes for that window. Both games are past as of October 19, 2026. Their value for a current viewer is to demonstrate that a FIBA qualifying window can be distributed outside the outlet used for Olympic coverage.
Women’s qualifying tournament in March 2026
The USA Basketball women’s schedule listed the March 11–17, 2026 qualifying tournament in San Juan on truTV and HBO Max. That tournament is also complete. A future women’s qualifying event should be checked independently rather than assumed to use the same combination.
Watching the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic basketball tournament
NBC Olympics’ 2028 guide gives a provisional basketball schedule covering July 12–30, 2028 and warns, “These dates are subject to change.” The guide lists women’s group play from July 12–20 and men’s group play from July 13–21. The women’s gold-medal game is listed for July 29, and the men’s gold-medal game for July 30.
For the Olympics, NBC says every event can be streamed live on Peacock. The guide also describes authenticated live streams through NBC Olympics, NBC.com, the NBC app and the NBC Sports app. In practice, the route you can use depends on the account or TV-provider authentication available to you at that time. Recheck the guide when the Games approach for the final bracket, tip times and any rights or app changes.

You do not need a special television device if the required app is already available on your smart TV, phone, tablet or computer. NBC’s device FAQ lists Fire TV among the platforms that support NBC and Peacock apps, along with other connected-TV options. That information concerns NBC and Peacock viewing generally; it does not prove that every Team USA broadcast will be available on every model.
Smart TV or connected television
- Open the television’s app store and search for the service named in the game listing.
- Install the official app, then sign in with the account or participating TV login it requests.
- Search for the game by team, opponent or date and verify that the listing says live rather than replay or highlights.
- Start a test stream before the game and check audio, picture and closed-caption settings.
Streaming device
If the television does not support the required app, connect a compatible streaming device, join it to Wi-Fi and install the app from its store. Fire TV is one platform named in NBC’s FAQ, but the appropriate device depends on the service, television and region. A streaming device is optional; a current phone, tablet or computer can be the simpler fallback.
Phone, tablet or computer
- Use the service’s official mobile app or website rather than an unverified stream.
- Sign in and confirm that the account is eligible in your location.
- Use a stable Wi-Fi or wired connection, keep the browser or app updated and allow notifications if you want game reminders.
- For a larger picture, cast or connect to a display only if both devices support the same casting standard.
Access requirements and what to verify before paying
- Exact-game coverage: A platform can carry basketball generally without carrying this national-team game.
- Geography: Rights are country-specific. The documented examples establish U.S. options for particular events, not a country-by-country international directory.
- Subscription or authentication: Determine whether the listing requires a direct subscription, a participating TV-provider login or another entitlement.
- Live versus on-demand: Some listings may provide a live feed, a replay or highlights only. Confirm the format before the start time.
- Blackouts and replacements: A schedule can change when a venue, opponent or rights assignment changes. Recheck close to tip-off.
Current subscription prices were not established for the services named here, so check each provider’s current U.S. or local pricing and terms rather than relying on an old figure. Avoid buying a full season package when the official listing offers a one-event route or when you only need a replay; the schedule should tell you what entitlement is actually required.

Live stream, replay or highlights?
Search results often mix a live listing with a postgame video. Look for an explicit live indicator, a scheduled start time and the game’s two teams. A highlights clip may be free but will not provide the complete broadcast. If you miss the tip, return to the same official event page and look for a replay or on-demand label. Replay availability can be different from live rights and may expire, so save the provider’s event page rather than relying on a third-party upload.

Troubleshooting a missing or failed stream
The game does not appear in the app
Return to the official schedule and confirm the competition, date and women’s or men’s team. Then check the app’s live section, search by both teams and verify that your account’s country matches the rights territory. If the schedule has no “Watch” field yet, the broadcaster may not have been assigned or published.
The app asks for a TV-provider login
That is an authentication requirement, not necessarily an app failure. Use the participating cable, satellite or telco credentials if you have them. If you do not, look at the same game’s listing for a direct streaming route; do not assume that a general Peacock or NBC account substitutes for a provider login.
Video is delayed, buffering or low quality
- Pause other heavy downloads and, if possible, move closer to the Wi-Fi router or use Ethernet.
- Restart the app and streaming device, then install pending updates.
- Lower video quality temporarily if the connection cannot sustain the default resolution.
- Check whether the service reports an outage before changing subscriptions.
The time or venue changed
Use the latest official schedule, not a saved calendar entry or an older article. USA Basketball pages can change, and the 2028 Olympic guide explicitly marks its dates as subject to change.
You are outside the United States
Do not assume that Peacock, DAZN, Courtside 1891, HBO Max or truTV has the same rights in another country. Search the competition’s official international broadcast information or the local rights holder, and verify availability from your location before creating an account.
A practical game-day checklist
- Confirm men’s or women’s team, competition, opponent and date.
- Reopen the official schedule on game day and note the latest tip time and “Watch” field.
- Check the service’s country availability and whether your plan or TV login qualifies.
- Install or update the app on your TV, streaming device, phone, tablet or computer.
- Sign in early and play a test video.
- Keep a second supported screen available if the television app fails.
- After the game, look for an official replay if you missed the live window; a highlights page is not the same as a full replay.
What to expect as schedules change
National-team basketball is organized in windows and tournaments rather than one continuous domestic season. Opponents, venues and tip times can remain provisional, and rights announcements can describe a multi-year package without assigning every game to a final channel. Treat the official event listing as the last word each time you watch.
For the clearest U.S. path, start with the game’s listing, then follow the named service: Peacock for the specified NBCUniversal Olympic lead-in and Olympic coverage, DAZN through Courtside 1891 or HBO Max when USA Basketball lists those outlets for a qualifying window, or truTV and HBO Max when the women’s schedule identifies them. Those are examples tied to particular events, not a universal Team USA subscription.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I watch Team USA basketball tonight?
Open the current USA Basketball or competition schedule, select the men’s or women’s game, and use its “Watch” or broadcast field. The correct service varies by event, country and date.
Do all Team USA games stream on Peacock?
No. NBCUniversal says most of its specified Olympic lead-in and pre-FIBA World Cup coverage will be exclusive to Peacock, but that does not cover every Team USA game or every competition.
Can I watch the 2028 Olympic basketball games online?
NBC Olympics says every 2028 Olympic event can be streamed live on Peacock. Authenticated streams are also described through NBC Olympics, NBC.com, the NBC app and the NBC Sports app. Dates and details are subject to change.
What carried the August 2026 men’s qualifying games?
USA Basketball listed Courtside 1891 on DAZN or HBO Max for the August 2026 Window 4 games against Chile and Colombia. Those games are complete, so check the current listing for later windows.
What did the March 2026 women’s qualifying tournament use?
The USA Basketball women’s schedule listed truTV and HBO Max for the March 11–17 tournament in San Juan. A later women’s event may have different rights.
Do I need a streaming device?
No. Use a compatible smart TV, phone, tablet or computer when the required app is available. NBC’s device FAQ lists Fire TV among supported platforms for NBC and Peacock apps, but compatibility varies by service and model.
Why is a Team USA game missing from my app?
Confirm the team, competition, date, country and live-versus-replay label. The app may not have rights in your territory, the broadcaster may not have published its listing, or the game may require a participating TV-provider login.
Are current subscription prices listed here?
No. Prices and plan terms change, and the official schedules identify coverage rather than a universal price. Check the provider’s current terms before paying.
The Bottom Line
Find the exact game first, then follow its official “Watch” listing. Peacock is planned for most of the NBCUniversal coverage specifically identified for selected Olympic lead-in and Olympic events, while qualifying windows may use DAZN through Courtside 1891, HBO Max or truTV. Verify country eligibility, authentication, device support and the live start time immediately before tip-off.
