To find what’s happening in retail World of Warcraft, start with three in-game hubs: the Calendar for holidays, weekly events, lockouts, and guild plans; Group Finder for dungeon and raid matchmaking or player-made groups; and the Adventure Guide for boss information, suggested activities, and the current Journeys hub for Delves. As of 30 October 2026, retail WoW is on Midnight patch 12.1.5, and there is no confirmed date for the next live patch. The current wait still has plenty to do: Warlords of Draenor Timewalking and Hallow’s End are underway, while the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, hourly Aqir Invasions, and the new raid The Unbinding of Kith’ix are available in Season 2.

The quickest way to avoid guessing is to match the activity to the right tool. Use the Calendar to plan around limited-time events and your raid schedule; use Dungeon Finder or Raid Finder for automated queues; use Premade Groups for Mythic+, organized raids, and other player-led activities; and open the Adventure Guide when you need to know what a boss does or what current-season activities are available.

Which WoW tool should I use to find an activity?

Each panel answers a different question: what is scheduled, how to join a group, or what the content involves. Start with this quick reference, then use the detailed steps below.

What you want to do Use Best for
Check holidays, Timewalking, bonus events, lockouts, or a guild raid night Calendar (/calendar) Knowing what is scheduled and when
Queue for a random or specific five-player dungeon Dungeon Finder Automated matchmaking at supported difficulties
Queue for a raid wing on the lowest raid difficulty Raid Finder Matchmaking for Looking For Raid (LFR)
Join Mythic+, Normal/Heroic/Mythic raids, or a custom activity Premade Groups Choosing or forming a player-led group
Look up boss abilities, loot, or suggested activities Adventure Guide (Shift+J) Planning a run and checking current Journeys progress
Find a hand-formed group in a capital city LookingForGroup chat A manual fallback for open-world or realm-flavored groups

Dungeon Finder and Raid Finder choose a group for you and offer less control over who joins. Premade Groups give you more control over purpose, difficulty, and group composition, but you must browse or manage applications yourself. For activities whose schedule rotates by week, combine the in-game Calendar with a current event tracker or weekly guide.

How do I check WoW events and raid schedules?

Open the in-game Calendar from the large round button at the upper-right edge of the minimap, or type /calendar. It is the most direct way to see what the client lists, including holidays, Timewalking and bonus-event weeks, battleground weekends, raid lockouts, and events created by players or guilds.

Select a date to inspect its entries. If the calendar button is flashing, you have a pending invitation; the event’s date shows a large question mark. Open the event and choose Accept, Decline, or Remove. After you accept, the event leader or a moderator can mark you Confirmed, Standby, or Out. That makes the calendar useful not just for public events, but for checking whether a guild raid is actually planned and whether you are expected.

Guild events can be created by people granted the ability through Guild Control. The creator has a solid crown icon and can appoint moderators, edit the event’s type, location, time, and notes, and mass-invite by guild rank and level range, up to 100 players. Moderators have an outlined crown: they can invite individuals and change statuses, but cannot mass-invite. Announcements are different from invitations; they do not require an Accept or Decline response and do not show an invited-player list. If an event is deleted, invitees receive in-game mail. Calendar invitations can also be handled through the Armory.

For a broader look ahead, Today in WoW gathers holidays, Timewalking, bonus events, and PvP brawls, offers Discord alerts, and displays times in local time. Icy Veins’ weekly to-do guide is more editorial: it prioritizes the current week’s campaign, raid, Labyrinth, invasions, and upgrade tasks. WoW Achievement Plan’s events page says its holiday, Timewalking, Darkmoon Faire, and weekly-reset windows come from game data. Use the Calendar to confirm what appears in your client; use an external tracker to spot upcoming rotations or reminders. Event windows change with weekly maintenance, so check again after a reset rather than relying on an old list.

What events are happening in WoW this week?

For the week of 27 October 2026, the listed rotation includes Warlords of Draenor Timewalking and Hallow’s End. Day of the Dead and the Darkmoon Faire begin on Sunday, 1 November; Hallow’s End runs through Monday, 2 November. These dates reflect the schedule reported in the weekly guides at the time of writing, not a permanent calendar.

  • Warlords of Draenor Timewalking: a rotating event for revisiting that expansion’s dungeons.
  • Hallow’s End: available through 2 November 2026.
  • Day of the Dead: begins 1 November 2026.
  • Darkmoon Faire: begins 1 November 2026. If you are planning reputation-related activities, the weekly guide recommends lining up reputation with the Faire on Sunday and Monday.
  • Weekly errands: the same guide flags the housing weekly from Vaeli outside the Silvermoon bank and the Weekly Spark from Lady Liadrin.

Today in WoW’s longer event list also shows upcoming windows: Midnight Dungeon Event on 3 November; Arena Skirmish Bonus Event on 10 November; Legion Timewalking on 17 November; World Quest Bonus Event on 24 November; Battleground and Pet Battle Bonus Events on 1 December; Battle for Azeroth Timewalking on 8 December; Delves Bonus Event on 15 December; Shadowlands Timewalking on 29 December; and Dragonflight Timewalking on 19 January. The listed times are local to the viewer on Today in WoW. Check that tracker or the Calendar again before making plans, since future rotations can change.

How do I queue for a WoW dungeon?

Use Dungeon Finder for automated five-player matchmaking. It unlocks at level 15, supports role selection, and can teleport the assembled party to the instance. It is suited to random or specific dungeons at supported difficulties, not to Mythic+ keys or player-selected organized groups.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Group Finder from its button on the micro menu. Many players also open it with I.
  2. Choose the Dungeons & Raids section and select Dungeon Finder.
  3. Choose a random dungeon or use the Type dropdown to select expansion-specific random dungeons or specific dungeons.
  4. For a specific run, choose Specific Dungeons, expand or clear the categories as needed, and check the dungeon you want.
  5. Select your role—tank, healer, or damage dealer—and queue.

Dungeon Finder matches across the battlegroup, so every member of a group does not need to be on the same realm. The queue is restricted by level and expansion bracket; characters cannot queue for every expansion’s dungeons regardless of level. When the group is ready, players can teleport into the instance. If someone leaves, the leader can be prompted to find a replacement, and the group has a vote-kick option.

Leaving early can apply Dungeon Deserter, which blocks Dungeon Finder and Raid Finder for 30 minutes. A separate 30-minute Dungeon Finder cooldown can also follow a match, except when you were kicked or the end boss was killed. These restrictions matter if you are joining a run while short on time; a queue is not a good fit if you may have to leave mid-instance.

If you want to choose the dungeon and its players, browse or create a listing in Premade Groups instead. If you are in a capital city, the LookingForGroup channel is another manual option, especially for open-world events or groups being assembled on a realm. Neither manual route has Dungeon Finder’s automatic match and teleport flow.

How do I find LFR, Mythic+, or an organized raid?

Use Raid Finder for LFR wings, and Premade Groups or a guild calendar for Mythic+, organized raid difficulties, legacy raids, and custom groups. The distinction is important: Raid Finder is both a queue tool and a raid difficulty, while Premade Groups is where players list and apply to groups with a chosen purpose.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Queue for Looking For Raid

In Group Finder, go to Dungeons & Raids and select Raid Finder. Choose a random or specific available wing and queue. Eligibility depends on level and average item level, and may also depend on having completed earlier wings. LFR is the lowest raid difficulty and uses automatic matchmaking; it is not the same as joining a Normal, Heroic, or Mythic raid group through a listing.

Find or create a Premade Group

In the Dungeons & Raids or PvP sections, choose an activity category such as Questing, Dungeons, Scenarios, Raids (current or legacy), or Custom. Select Find a Group to browse and filter listings, or Start a Group to post one. A listing can include a title, details, minimum item level, and voice-chat setting; you cannot set a minimum item level higher than your own. Applicants request an invitation, and the leader or raid assistants can accept or decline them. If a search returns no suitable listing, the interface can prompt you to start one.

Premade Groups are the appropriate route for Mythic+ keys and organized Normal, Heroic, or Mythic raids. They are also commonly used for current-season push content, legacy runs, and custom activities. A 9.0.1-era wiki entry documented a level-50 minimum for Premade Groups; that is the last gate recorded there, not a confirmation of the current gate in Midnight. The current cap is 90, but do not infer a new eligibility rule from that cap alone.

Subregions such as Oceania are separated within the Americas listing area, so the visible pool is not necessarily every player in every region. If you are recruiting a stable raid team rather than a one-off pickup group, the r/CompetitiveWoW wiki points readers to dedicated recruitment and planning resources such as Raider.io, Warcraft Logs, WoWProgress, Guilds of WoW, Raidplan.io, and Raidbots. Those serve a different purpose from finding a quick dungeon queue.

Group Finder is for forming groups, not advertising paid carries. Blizzard’s Ythisens stated in 2018 that advertisements made it harder to find active groups being formed; the policy prohibits carry advertisements, including gold-for-boost listings, in Group Finder. Realm-specific Trade chat is a separate channel where gold raid carries may still be advertised.

Where did the Delves tab go?

In retail Midnight, Delves are no longer a Group Finder tab. Open the Adventure Guide, choose Journeys, and find the Delves section there; you can configure your Delve companion from that section. The Journeys hub also summarizes Renown from major factions from Dragonflight onward, Delver’s Journey and Preyseeker’s Journey for the current season, and includes a shortcut to check Great Vault rewards.

Blizzard moved the Delves tab from Group Finder to Journeys as part of the 12.0.0 update, added on 20 January 2026. This explains why older instructions, screenshots, or wiki descriptions may still tell you to open the Group Finder with I and look for Delves. The current location is the Adventure Guide’s Journeys tab, not a missing or disabled Group Finder feature.

The Adventure Guide also contains the Traveler’s Log, which tracks monthly Trading Post objectives. Completing the month can award a cosmetic and 500 additional Trader’s Tender. If you are looking for a specific Delve rather than overall progress, check the Journeys section; for boss details and loot, use the relevant dungeon or raid journal entry.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What does the Adventure Guide show, and how do I open it?

Press Shift+J to open the Adventure Guide; its default keybind is available from level 11. It combines a journal of dungeon and raid bosses with suggested content and the Journeys hub, so it is useful both for deciding what to run and for preparing to run it.

Boss entries list phases, abilities, and loot for dungeons, raids, and world bosses. The journal covers content from Classic through Midnight, although tactical detail for older Vanilla, Burning Crusade, and Wrath raids can be thin even when loot tables are present. It is a reference, not a complete strategy guide: it does not explain every mechanic or replace a group’s own tactics discussion.

Ability alert icons identify details such as Mythic-only or Heroic-only mechanics, deadly or important warnings, role alerts for tanks, damage dealers, or healers, interruptible casts, and Magic, Curse, Bleed, Poison, Disease, or Enrage effects. Use these as a quick orientation before a run, then read the full ability text rather than treating an icon as a complete tactic.

Suggested Content uses factors such as level, item level, quest progress, and achievements to surface activities. It can link into a relevant quest or open Group Finder to search for a group. The Adventure Guide’s “Join Raid” path has historically opened Premade Groups rather than automatically entering Raid Finder, so choose the desired difficulty and grouping method deliberately.

What can I do in WoW while waiting for the next patch?

As of 29 October 2026, retail is in Midnight Season 2, live on patch 12.1.5 — The Promise of Tomorrow. The patch went live with weekly maintenance on 13 October in North America and 14 October in Europe. Blizzard’s update added the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, a single-boss raid, a mid-season refresh, the continuing story in Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman, and Aqir Invasions. These activities give you several different ways to spend a patch wait, whether you want story, group content, seasonal progression, or a short public event.

Take on The Unbinding of Kith’ix

The new raid is a focused, single-boss confrontation with Kith’ix, with Lady Liadrin at your side. Blizzard lists Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties; Mythic uses a flexible group of 15–25 players. Open the Midnight raid entry in the Adventure Guide to review abilities and loot, queue through Raid Finder for LFR, use Premade Groups or a guild event for Normal through Mythic, or choose Story Mode for a guided pass.

Progress through the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan

The Labyrinth is a nine-chamber, Delve-like challenge with a final Nemesis boss, Kindo’Jan. You can tackle it as one longer session or work through it wing by wing. Completing three chambers rewards one Delve Great Vault slot, and Valeera Sanguinar is the companion. Start from the quest The Labyrinth—available from Kul’amara the Fierce at Tokka’s Landing—or use the Adventure Journal or the Labyrinth entrance. Find its Delve-related home under Adventure Guide → Journeys → Delves, not in the old Group Finder Delves tab.

A 27 October 2026 hotfix fixed Labyrinth scenarios that had not been granting Great Vault credit. If a qualifying run appears not to count, check current hotfix notes and the in-game Vault before assuming progress is permanently lost.

Catch an hourly Aqir Invasion

Aqir Invasions are zone-wide public events in Eversong or Zul’Aman. Blizzard describes a ten-minute event window each hour: players move through a series of public scenarios before a boss encounter. The six scenario types include three combat and three non-combat activities; combat scenarios can include one of eight affixes, such as Void Protection, Aqir Burrower, Void Sphere, Astalor’s Anguish, Swarms!, Aqir Elites, Void Infestation, or Web Weavers.

For a first-time route, pick up The Aqir Swarm from Lor’themar Theron in the Sanctum of Light in Silvermoon City. To catch the timed activity, be in Eversong or Zul’Aman near the top of the hour. The Calendar is not a substitute for that hourly window. The available information does not provide an official average participation count or queue time, so do not plan around an assumed wait.

Use the Season 2 mid-season upgrades

Season 2 began the week of 18 August 2026. It includes the eight-boss Venomous Abyss raid, a Mythic+ season with five Midnight dungeons—including Altar of Fangs—and three dungeons from earlier expansions, plus a new PvP season, Delves season, and Prey season. The current cap is 90, as reported by the tracker cited in the available data.

Two upgrade tasks stand out in the mid-season refresh. First, Orin Straylight offers an extra weekly Nebulous Voidcore bonus roll after you complete In the Catalyst’s Shadow from Decimus in Voidstorm and Prismatic Potential from Orin in Silvermoon. Second, 10 Ascendant Venomstones can raise the item level of a fully upgraded Season 2 Hero, Myth, or max-quality Tidal Crafted weapon, trinket, or necklace at the Silvermoon Catalyst. The listed sources are Heroic or Mythic raid bosses, Mythic+ 10 or higher, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion chests. The crest cap was lifted during the week of 20 October.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For Mythic+ players, the Season 2 achievement Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2 requires a rating of at least 3,600 and awards the title “the Venomous Contender” and a Timelost Saddle. If you are catching up through Prey, the reported 12.1.5 rates are 4,000 Journey progress per hunt below rank 3, or 2,000 per hunt for each of the first four weekly hunts at ranks 3–8.

Catch up on story or returning-player activities

The 12.1.5 campaign, The Promise of Tomorrow, follows the threat awakened by Ula’tek’s defeat and the uneasy peace between Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman, leading toward the Coiled Isle and Kith’ix. Icy Veins lists The Aqir Swarm from Lor’themar in the Sanctum of Light as the storyline starting point.

For returning players, the same weekly guide lists earlier catch-up routes that remain useful: the Void Incursions introduction, Ritual Sites, the Omnium Folio quest Magister’s Missive at 48.3, 49.6 in Silvermoon, Showdown Areas from Riftblade Maella at the same coordinates, and the Coiled Isle quest A Call for Aid from Lady Liadrin at 46, 68 in Zul’Aman. Confirm quest availability and current rewards in-game, as seasonal rewards and progression can change.

When is the next WoW patch?

There is no confirmed live release date in the available information. Patch 12.1.5 is the live update as of 29 October 2026. Community Manager Linxy described 12.1.7 Echoes of the Worldcore in PTR notes as the next Midnight content update, inviting players back to Dornogal and the Coreway. Separately, a September 2026 Blizzplanet report described 12.2 Eclipse as an announced next chapter. Those references may describe sequential updates; neither establishes a live date here.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not mistake the Talebound demo window in the PTR notes—30 October at 10:00 a.m. PDT through 2 November at 10:00 a.m. PDT—for a patch release schedule. Likewise, weekly reset clocks can differ by region and maintenance timing: patch 12.1.5’s North American and European launch dates fell on different calendar days. For planning, rely on a Blizzard release announcement rather than converting a tracker’s reset time into a global patch date.

What should I do first when I log in?

A practical check-in takes only a few steps and prevents you from overlooking short event windows or scheduled group content.

  1. Open Calendar. Note the week’s Timewalking or bonus event, Darkmoon Faire and holiday dates, your lockouts, and any guild raid night.
  2. Open the Adventure Guide. Check Suggested Content and Journeys for Delves, Prey, Renown, Great Vault progress, and current dungeon or raid information.
  3. Choose the right group tool. Use Dungeon Finder for a random or specific five-player dungeon, Raid Finder for LFR, and Premade Groups for Mythic+ or organized raids. Use the PvP tab if a brawl or bonus event is relevant.
  4. Check the hour for Aqir Invasions. Head to Eversong or Zul’Aman before the hourly event window if you want to take part.
  5. Advance the Labyrinth and upgrades. Work toward three Labyrinth chambers for a Delve Vault slot, finish any Orin Straylight quests, and spend Ascendant Venomstones on an eligible fully upgraded item.
  6. Cross-check a current weekly source. Consult Today in WoW or Icy Veins for rotation changes and upcoming event windows, then verify anything time-sensitive in-game.

Some older guides and add-ons can help with specific jobs, but check what game version they cover. CurseForge’s GroupFinder add-on, for example, overlays Blizzard’s Premade Groups and offers categories for dungeons, raids, Delves, PvP, quests, custom groups, seasonal Mythic+, and seasonal raids; it is not a replacement for the official interface. AzerothCompendium is aimed at the Forever/Classic flavor, not retail’s Adventure Guide. The separate WoW Forever client also lacks modern automatic Group Finder teleportation according to a September 2026 report, so do not apply its instance-travel instructions to retail.

For most retail players, the reliable pattern is simple: Calendar for when, Adventure Guide for what, and Group Finder for how to join. Keep the weekly rotation separate from the permanent UI instructions, and check current patch and event information before planning around a date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Dungeon Finder with friends on another realm?

Yes. Dungeon Finder draws players from a battlegroup, so a five-player party does not need to be entirely on one realm. The queue still observes level and expansion-bracket restrictions.

Why can’t I see an event at the time shown on a calendar site?

Third-party trackers may show local time, while the game client and regional maintenance schedules can differ. Confirm the event date in the in-game Calendar and check whether the tracker is displaying your local timezone.

Does the Adventure Guide explain every raid mechanic?

No. It provides boss phases, ability descriptions, loot, and alert icons, but it is not a complete tactics walkthrough. Older raid entries may have especially limited tactical detail.

Is the next WoW patch release date known?

No confirmed live date is established by the available announcements. PTR notes and reports have named upcoming update titles, but those names are not a release schedule.
