- Check the current platform storefront. Search the exact title and edition while signed into the region where you will play. The US Steam listing for Alice: Madness Returns currently displays an Add to Cart option, so the 2022 removal report is historical rather than a statement of present US availability.

EA app for Windows
EA’s page presents a digital license for Windows. Its terms state that a serial code can be used only once and cannot be transferred after redemption. That makes an unverified secondhand PC code a poor substitute for buying from the publisher: a seller’s promise does not establish that the code remains unused or that it will activate on your account.
Steam for PC
The US Steam page currently offers an Add to Cart control. Industry reporting recorded the game’s removal from Steam in June 2022 in Game Developer’s report, but that report answers what happened then, not what the live store shows in October 2026. Always open the current listing, confirm the publisher and edition, and verify that the checkout region is correct.
What a digital purchase does and does not guarantee
A digital purchase gives you an account-linked entitlement under the store’s license terms; it does not create a transferable physical ownership right. Search terms that reduce mismatches

Does a PS3 disc work on PS5?
No. PlayStation’s support documentation states: “PS5 consoles do not support PlayStation®3 discs.” Read the full PS5 backward-compatibility guidance before choosing a PS3 copy. A PS3 disc therefore makes sense only if you own working PS3 hardware or another officially supported setup; buying it for a PS5 does not solve the compatibility problem.

Can I buy The Path from its developer?
Yes. Tale of Tales currently sells The Path through its developer-run itch.io page, with immediate download. The package lists Windows downloads, a Mac file, the soundtrack and a Steam key; the developer also provides a prologue to try. The page is an authorized sale, not evidence that every third-party key marketplace has a legitimate or active key.
Windows buyers
Choose the Windows files offered on the itch.io purchase page and retain the download information and Steam key details. Because the sale is delivered by the developer, it is the clearest route when a general storefront search produces confusing or outdated results.
Mac buyers
Read the developer’s compatibility warning before paying: The Path does not work with the latest macOS versions. A purchase can still provide the Mac file, but that file’s existence is not a promise that current Apple hardware or operating-system releases will run it. Do not assume it is. American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns are distinct entries, and a sequel storefront listing is not proof that the original is bundled. A Texas government gameography records platforms for the original, but a current standalone authorized digital offer was not established here; consult the Texas gameography PDF for the historical platform record, then verify any present listing by exact title.

When a seller says “Alice collection,” ask for the precise contents, platform and region. Do not pay a sequel price expecting the original unless the checkout page explicitly names both games.

Why are dark-fairytale games difficult to find?

They do explain why a game can disappear from a store, reappear later, remain available from its developer, or survive mainly as a used disc without proving that it is permanently unobtainable.

What should I do if checkout, activation or installation fails?
- No purchase button: Recheck the region, exact edition and account sign-in. A historical delisting article cannot override what the current store page shows.
- Used PC code rejected: Contact the seller promptly; EA’s single-use rule means a previously redeemed serial cannot simply be transferred to you.
- Xbox disc does nothing: Confirm the title is in the compatibility catalog, that the console has a disc drive and that the console can download the supported version.
- PS3 disc bought for PS5: Return or exchange it if the seller allows; PS5 does not support PS3 discs.
