Yes—but the Xbox Play Anywhere badge applies to the specific The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered listing, not automatically to every older copy of The Witcher 3. The Xbox Store lists Remastered as playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and handheld. The badge belongs to that Remastered listing; it is not a blanket cross-buy promise for every historic The Witcher 3 license or for copies bought from other PC storefronts.

Xbox’s Play Anywhere program applies to participating digital games. Sign in on each supported device with the Xbox/Microsoft account that owns the game. There is no additional Play Anywhere charge to use that qualifying digital game on covered devices. Xbox says game progress, add-ons, and achievements carry across supported devices, and that the same game cannot be played on multiple covered devices simultaneously.
The Xbox Store listing is for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. CD PROJEKT RED’s September 29, 2026 announcement also identifies the Microsoft Store edition as an Xbox Play Anywhere purchase.

Can I play The Witcher 3 on PC if I own it on Xbox?
Possibly, but ownership of an older Xbox version alone does not establish that you have the Microsoft Store PC entitlement. The official announcements describe Remastered as a free upgrade for qualifying existing owners, but do not give a complete license-by-license explanation for every Xbox One disc, legacy digital purchase, or other ownership case.
Check the Remastered listing while signed in to the Xbox/Microsoft account associated with your Xbox copy. If the PC installation is available as owned in that account’s library, you can use that entitlement on PC. If it is not, do not assume that an Xbox disc, or a Steam, GOG, or Epic Games Store purchase, grants the Microsoft Store PC version.

CD PROJEKT RED announced free Remastered upgrades for owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It separately said Remastered could be purchased on Battle.net and the Microsoft Store. Those upgrade announcements do not by themselves establish a transfer of ownership from another PC storefront into the Xbox/Microsoft account.
Does The Witcher 3 save transfer between Xbox and PC?
For a qualifying Play Anywhere copy, Xbox says progress carries across supported Xbox, Windows PC, and handheld devices when you use the owning Xbox/Microsoft account. This is the program’s cross-device save behavior; it should not be read as a promise that a save from a different storefront automatically appears in the Microsoft Store edition.

The official information cited here does not establish automatic save migration from Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, or another platform into the Microsoft Store Remastered version. If your existing save is outside the Xbox ecosystem, verify the available save and account options for that specific version before changing editions.
Do I have to buy The Witcher 3 again for PC?
Not if your account already has the qualifying digital Play Anywhere edition available. If it does not, the answer depends on the entitlement attached to your existing license. The Xbox Store identifies the Microsoft Store Remastered edition as Play Anywhere, while the official upgrade announcements do not resolve every legacy license or storefront combination.

Use these checks before buying:
- Confirm the edition. Look for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, rather than relying on a generic reference to an older copy of The Witcher 3.
- Check the badge. The Xbox Store listing should identify the edition as Xbox Play Anywhere.
- Check the account library. Sign in with the Xbox/Microsoft account you intend to use on PC and see whether the PC install is available as owned.
- Check where you own the game and where the save lives. A license on another platform does not, on the available official information, prove Microsoft Store ownership or automatic save transfer.
- For a disc copy, verify the actual entitlement. Xbox states that Play Anywhere applies to digital games. An expansion claim offered to disc owners is not proof that the disc grants the PC Play Anywhere license.
What does the Remastered edition include?
CD PROJEKT RED says Remastered includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, even for players who previously owned only the base game. On supported platforms, the company says Remastered replaces the Complete Edition.
Xbox Wire’s August 25, 2026 announcement said the Xbox upgrade would be free for owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Xbox Series X|S. It also said base-game-only players would receive both expansions: digital owners would receive them in their library, while disc owners could claim the expansions from the Store. That expansion offer should not be confused with a PC Play Anywhere entitlement.
