Start with Streets of Rage 4. It is the closest documented follow-up to Fallen City Brawl if you want another urban, arcade-derived side-scrolling brawler, while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is the better switch when you want brighter pixel art and a character-focused cooperative game. The match is based on published settings, art styles, stage counts and player modes—not hands-on rankings.
Fallen City Brawl is now digitally available on PC and consoles. It arrived on Steam and GOG on August 12, 2025, then launched digitally on Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC on October 28, 2026. Its physical editions were still only expected to ship in November 2026 at the time of the latest announcement, so a boxed copy should not be treated as available or confirmed until a retailer shows current stock.
What should I play after Fallen City Brawl?
Streets of Rage 4 is the most direct next game. Both games put side-scrolling combat in an urban environment and draw on the arcade beat-’em-up tradition. The difference is presentation and multiplayer scale: Fallen City Brawl uses large pixel sprites and supports one- or two-player local co-op, whereas Streets of Rage 4 uses hand-drawn animation and expands offline play to four people.

If your priority is a colorful pixel-art co-op brawl rather than another crime-street setting, choose Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Tribute Games describes character-specific skills, combos, pixel-art environments and simultaneous cooperative play. It shares the visual language of Fallen City Brawl more closely, but its tone and setting are deliberately different.

Why is Streets of Rage 4 the closest match?
The recommendation is an evidence-based similarity call, not a claim that one game is objectively better. Fallen City Brawl is built around city streets, late-1980s and early-1990s arcade inspiration, four playable characters, seven stages, combos, counters and special attacks. Dotemu describes Streets of Rage 4 with the same broad urban and arcade-derived foundation, plus 12 stages and new combat mechanics.
That makes Streets of Rage 4 the natural continuation for someone who wants the setting to remain part of the appeal. You are not being sent from a street brawler to a licensed fantasy, superhero or arena game; you are moving to another side-scrolling urban fighter whose larger stage list and wider multiplayer support change the scope without abandoning the premise.
The visual trade-off is important. Fallen City Brawl presents large pixel sprites, while Streets of Rage 4 uses hand-drawn animation. If the exact pixel-art look is non-negotiable, the second recommendation below is a closer visual fit.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow do the stage counts compare?
Eastasiasoft identifies seven unique stages for Fallen City Brawl. Its announcement describes the route as moving through locations including city streets, subways and snowfields: “From city streets to subways and snowfields, Fallen City Brawl offers a playground of mayhem across its 7 unique stages.” That is promotional copy from the publisher, not independent criticism.
Dotemu lists 12 stages for Streets of Rage 4. The number indicates a longer documented campaign structure, but it does not by itself prove that the game is more difficult, more varied or more enjoyable. Stage count is useful for estimating how much separately named campaign content each product advertises; it is not a quality score.
Which game has the better co-op setup?
Streets of Rage 4 has the clearest advantage for a larger group. Nintendo’s US Switch listing specifies one to four players on one system and one to two players online for that version. The exact limit matters: four people can play together locally on a Switch, but only two online players are listed for that edition.

Fallen City Brawl is documented as supporting one- or two-player local co-op with a shared screen. Steam also identifies Remote Play Together. Remote Play Together is a platform feature that can stream a local session to another person; it should not be rewritten as proof of native online multiplayer across every platform.
Tribute Games’ press material describes four-player simultaneous play for Shredder’s Revenge. Because player limits and online features can vary by storefront and edition, check the listing for the platform you own before buying. The safe conclusion is that it is designed for a group brawl, not that every console and PC version has identical networking options.
What does “local” mean in these listings?
Local or single-system play means the participating controllers connect to the same console or computer session. It is the relevant specification when friends are in the same room. “Online” is a separate access mode, and a listing that gives both numbers is telling you that the limits may differ by mode.
For Fallen City Brawl, the documented shared-screen format keeps the action on one display. Remote Play Together can be useful when two players are not physically together, but it still mirrors a local session and depends on the PC platform’s feature and both players’ network conditions. Do not assume that buying the console version adds the same option.
Is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge a better pixel-art alternative?
Choose it when art style and group-friendly character play matter more than a gritty criminal-underworld story. Tribute Games describes pixel-art environments, character-specific skills, combos and cooperative play. Those details line up with the visual and mechanical vocabulary that attracts players to Fallen City Brawl, whose own pitch emphasizes large sprites, counters, specials and arcade-era combat.

Fallen City Brawl frames its action around urban streets and a criminal-underworld premise. Shredder’s Revenge is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, with a brighter licensed-cartoon identity and a cast built around recognizable characters. That tonal shift is the reason to select it, not something to overlook.

Its four-player simultaneous play makes it especially useful for a household or friend group that wants everyone in the same fight. Still, use the platform listing as the final authority for a specific version’s local and online modes; the press-kit description is broad and does not establish one universal maximum for every edition.
How do the three games compare?
| Decision point | Fallen City Brawl | Streets of Rage 4 | TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core setting | Urban streets and a criminal-underworld story | Urban, arcade-derived street fighting | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles setting |
| Visual identity | Large pixel sprites | Hand-drawn animation | Pixel-art environments and character-led presentation |
| Documented campaign size | 7 unique stages | 12 stages | No comparable stage total is established in the supplied source |
| Playable cast information | 4 playable characters | The supplied sources establish four-player offline play, not a matching character-count claim | Character-specific skills; the supplied source does not establish one universal roster count |
| Local co-op | 1–2 players, shared screen | 1–4 on one Switch system | Four-player simultaneous play is described in the press material; verify the edition |
| Online or remote options | Steam Remote Play Together is listed; native cross-platform online co-op is not established | Switch listing: 1–2 online players | Confirm the platform-specific listing rather than assuming every edition matches |
| Best reason to choose it | The game you are moving on from | Keep the urban brawler premise and add larger local groups | Keep pixel-art energy while switching to a brighter licensed cast |
The table separates documented specifications from editorial interpretation. For example, four offline players in Streets of Rage 4 describes a mode, not the number of playable characters. Likewise, a larger stage count does not guarantee a longer runtime because no completion-time measurement is supplied here.
Which game should you choose for your own priority?
Choose Streets of Rage 4 if the city is the point
Select Streets of Rage 4 when you want the next game to feel recognizably related to Fallen City Brawl before you even consider its art direction. Its documented urban setting, side-scrolling structure and arcade lineage preserve the central fantasy. The 12-stage specification and four-player offline mode then broaden the amount of advertised campaign content and the number of friends who can join on one system.

It is also the practical choice for a mixed group in which some players want to sit on the same couch and others may join online. On Switch, the published limits are four players locally and two online. Those numbers are edition-specific, so a buyer on another platform should read that platform’s current listing.
Choose Shredder’s Revenge if pixel art and personality are the point
Pick Shredder’s Revenge when Fallen City Brawl‘s pixel-art presentation is what you want to preserve, but its underworld tone is not essential. Character-specific skills and a licensed cast make the game feel more like a colorful ensemble adventure than a grim street-crime story. Four-player simultaneous play is the strongest documented reason to bring a larger group.
This is a tonal alternative, not the closest setting match. Someone looking for another anonymous urban brawler may prefer Streets of Rage 4; someone looking for a brighter, character-driven co-op session may prefer the Turtles game even though the fiction is completely different.

Stay with Fallen City Brawl if two-player local play is enough
You do not need to replace the game simply because another title supports more players. Fallen City Brawl offers four playable characters, seven stages, combos, counters, specials and shared-screen local co-op for one or two people. If that combination is exactly what your household wants, the two alternatives are choices for a different emphasis rather than mandatory upgrades.

Is Fallen City Brawl available on consoles now?
Yes. The digital console launch happened on October 28, 2026, covering Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. The earlier PC release on Steam and GOG was August 12, 2025. This corrects older pages that still show console availability as “to be announced.”
Eastasiasoft said physical editions were expected to ship in November 2026. As of the October 29, 2026 information used for this guide, that was an expectation rather than confirmation that copies had shipped or that a particular retailer had stock. Treat a product page showing a preorder, an estimated date or a download code differently from a listing that confirms a cartridge or disc is ready to dispatch.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should collectors know about a physical copy of Streets of Rage 4?
The official Streets of Rage 4 site documents Switch physical releases associated with Limited Run Games and regular editions through Merge Games. Limited Run’s collection page labels the Switch and PS4 editions sold out. That establishes the editions and a useful search trail, but it is not evidence of current retailer inventory.
If you are searching a marketplace, the defensible query is “Streets of Rage 4 Nintendo Switch physical game.” Confirm that the result is a cartridge and not a download code, and check the seller’s current dispatch information. Do not infer availability from an old review, an archived announcement or a search-result snippet.

How can you decide in less than a minute?
- Want another urban street-fighting premise? Choose Streets of Rage 4.
- Need four people on one Switch? The Nintendo listing for Streets of Rage 4 specifies one to four local players.
- Want pixel-art environments and a brighter cast? Choose TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, then verify the exact edition’s player modes.
- Only play with one friend locally and already own Fallen City Brawl? Its documented two-player shared-screen mode may already cover your use case.
- Shopping for a boxed copy? Check current stock and format; an expected shipment date is not the same as a confirmed dispatch.
This decision tree avoids treating a single specification as a universal winner. Setting, art style, group size and platform mode answer different questions, so the right follow-up depends on which part of Fallen City Brawl you want to retain.
What are the main limitations of these comparisons?
The supplied documentation does not provide a common review score, completion-time test, difficulty comparison or performance benchmark. It also does not establish identical online features across every console and PC edition. Those gaps are why the recommendations are framed as documented fits rather than a hands-on ranking.
Player counts are particularly easy to overgeneralize. Fallen City Brawl‘s Remote Play Together reference belongs to the Steam listing; the Nintendo figures for Streets of Rage 4 describe the Switch version; and the four-player description for Shredder’s Revenge comes from developer press material. Before purchasing, open the listing for your exact platform and check whether the mode is local, online, shared-screen or a remote-play feature.

Buy or play Streets of Rage 4 first if you want the most defensible continuation of Fallen City Brawl‘s urban, arcade-derived identity. Choose Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge instead if pixel art, distinctive characters and a larger group session matter more than preserving the criminal-underworld setting. Keep the platform-specific co-op limits and the unconfirmed physical-shipping status in mind, and neither choice requires pretending that the available specifications are a personal review.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fallen City Brawl have native online co-op?
The supplied Steam information lists shared-screen co-op and Remote Play Together. That does not establish native online co-op on every platform, so console buyers should not assume an online mode from the PC feature alone.
Can four people play Streets of Rage 4 online on Switch?
Nintendo’s US Switch listing specifies one to four players on one system and one to two players online. Four-player support is therefore documented for local play on that version, not for a four-person online session.
Is the physical edition of Fallen City Brawl already shipping?
Eastasiasoft said physical editions were expected to ship in November 2026. That statement is an expectation, not confirmation that copies have shipped or that a particular retailer currently has stock.
Which follow-up keeps the pixel-art look?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is the documented pixel-art alternative, with pixel-art environments and character-specific skills. It changes the tone to a brighter licensed Turtles setting rather than continuing the criminal-underworld story.
