A treadmill camera is worth paying for only if it supports features you expect to use, such as running analysis or strength-workout feedback. Before buying, check exactly what the camera does on that model, whether its use is optional, what the manufacturer says about image storage, and the full cost—including any required membership. In Peloton’s 2026 lineup, Tread Vision and Tread+ Vision have movement-tracking camera features; the folding Tread Flex does not.
What does a treadmill’s built-in camera actually do?
A camera can be more than a way to make video calls or watch a screen: on some treadmills, it supplies input for workout software. The useful question is not simply whether a camera is present, but which specific features depend on it and whether those features match your training.
Running analysis
Peloton says its Tread Vision camera supports Run Analysis, which assesses running metrics and provides a score and tips. Treat this as a training feature, not a medical assessment: the available product information does not establish clinical value, injury prevention, or the accuracy of the score.
Strength-workout feedback
Peloton also describes camera-based strength features such as rep tracking and form feedback on the applicable models. Confirm the exact supported workouts and functions for the model you are considering; a camera on one treadmill does not guarantee that every feature works in every workout. Which models include camera features?
Do not assume that a camera feature is shared across an entire product family. Peloton identifies Tread Vision and Tread+ Vision as the camera-equipped models; Tread Flex is foldable but does not include these movement-tracking camera features.

Start with the training benefit you will use
- Consider a camera-equipped model if running metrics, a score and tips, or on-screen strength guidance are features you specifically want.
- Do not pay extra for the camera by default if you mainly want conventional running, walking, or incline workouts and do not expect to use camera-based analysis.
- Compare the treadmill hardware separately if folding storage, belt design, or a feature such as Sled Mode matters more to you than analytics. The camera does not replace those practical considerations.
This is a decision framework based on Peloton’s published feature distinctions, not a hands-on comparative test.
Calculate the ongoing cost
Include the treadmill’s purchase price and any membership you need for the content or features you plan to use. Peloton lists All-Access Membership separately and says it is required for applicable treadmill content and features. Its price and terms can vary by market and change, so confirm them locally before buying rather than treating the treadmill’s starting price as the entire cost.

What should you check about camera privacy?
Read the manufacturer’s current privacy information and look for two separate details: whether camera use is optional, and whether images or video are recorded or stored. Peloton says camera images and videos are not recorded or stored and that users can opt out through Profile Settings. That is Peloton’s published statement, not an independent technical audit; review its current Peloton IQ information and applicable terms for your region before deciding.
