Short answer: it depends on which offer you activated. A normal Xbox promotional subscription is set to continue at the regular price and term after the promotion unless you cancel it in your Microsoft account. The Game Pass benefit announced for eligible U.S. T-Mix customers is different: Xbox announced the offer on October 26, 2026, with availability beginning in November, but had not published the benefit’s renewal, expiration, or existing-subscription rules as of October 30.
Before the benefit ends, check the promotion terms in your T-Mobile account and the subscription status in your Microsoft account. That is the only reliable way to determine whether Microsoft will bill you, whether access will stop, and which company handles cancellation for your particular enrollment.
What did T-Mobile and Xbox actually announce?
Xbox’s October 26, 2026 announcement says eligible T-Mix customers in the United States can choose either Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass Premium beginning in November 2026. The benefit is intended to work on devices customers already own, including Xbox consoles, smart TVs, PCs and other supported devices.
The announcement confirms the tiers and launch window, but it does not publish the most important end-of-benefit details. It does not say whether the benefit converts to a paid Microsoft subscription, simply stops, ends when a customer changes T-Mix Picks, or follows another rule. It also does not explain how activation interacts with a Game Pass subscription that is already billed directly by Microsoft.

T-Mobile’s support guidance says promotional rules vary by offer and directs customers to the terms attached to their own account. Treat the T-Mix benefit as a separate, offer-specific arrangement rather than assuming that every rule from a standard Xbox trial applies.
Does T-Mobile Game Pass renew automatically?
For a standard Xbox promotional subscription, Xbox says yes unless you cancel: after any promotional period, the subscription continues at the regular price and specified term unless it is canceled in the Microsoft account. That wording is a general Xbox product-page rule, not a confirmed description of the T-Mix benefit.
For T-Mix Game Pass, automatic renewal was not described in the official announcement available on October 30, 2026. Do not assume that “free” means it will end without a charge, and do not assume that it will become a Microsoft-billed subscription. The result may depend on whether T-Mobile treats Game Pass as an included benefit, whether you keep the qualifying wireless plan and Picks selection, and how the benefit is attached to your Microsoft account.
Look for two separate indicators:
- Microsoft billing status: the Services & subscriptions area of your Microsoft account may show recurring billing, an upcoming charge, an expiration date or no renewal information.
- T-Mobile eligibility status: your T-Mobile account or promotion page may show whether the benefit is active, tied to a specific T-Mix selection, or scheduled to end with a plan change.
If the Microsoft page shows recurring billing, turn it off or cancel before the next billing date if you do not want a regular-price charge. Microsoft’s Services Agreement generally says cancellation takes effect at the end of the current service period, although an offer can add conditions.
What should I do before the promotion ends?
Use this sequence at least several days before the date shown in either account. It separates the billing decision from the eligibility decision, which matters because the T-Mix end rules were not yet published.

- Find the exact offer terms. In your T-Mobile account, open the T-Mix or promotion entry that supplied Game Pass. Record the stated end date, qualifying-plan requirement, renewal language and any instruction about changing Picks.
- Open your Microsoft subscription page. Sign in with the Microsoft account used to redeem Game Pass and inspect the Game Pass entry. Note the plan name, billing owner, recurring-billing setting, next charge and expiration date.
- Save evidence of the status. Keep a copy of the offer terms and the subscription screen showing the status and date. This is useful if a charge appears or the benefit disappears earlier than the displayed date.
- Decide whether you want paid access. If you want to continue, compare the regular Microsoft price and term displayed for your account with the value of keeping the T-Mix plan. If you do not want to continue, disable recurring billing or cancel where Microsoft indicates that the subscription is managed.
- Check the T-Mobile account again. If the offer requires an eligible T-Mix configuration, changing Picks, downgrading the wireless plan or removing the qualifying line could end the benefit independently of Microsoft’s billing setting.
- Verify after the date passes. Check both accounts for a billing confirmation, an expiration notice or a new end date. Do not rely on the Game Pass app alone; the account that controls billing is the authoritative place to check charges.
Where do I cancel Game Pass: Xbox, Microsoft or T-Mobile?
For a normal Xbox promotional subscription that is billed by Microsoft, cancellation is handled in the Microsoft account, not by removing the Xbox app or uninstalling a game. Turning off recurring billing prevents the next renewal while normally allowing access through the already-paid service period.
The T-Mix benefit can involve two relationships: the wireless promotion that establishes eligibility and the Microsoft account that delivers Game Pass. If the Microsoft page shows no recurring charge, there may be nothing to cancel there; the benefit may instead end when the T-Mobile promotion ends or when its eligibility conditions change. If T-Mobile’s terms provide a separate opt-out or cancellation instruction, follow that instruction as well.

Do not cancel a qualifying T-Mix feature merely to stop a possible Game Pass charge before you know who controls the benefit. First identify the billing owner and the eligibility requirement. Canceling the wireless feature could remove the benefit immediately, while leaving a Microsoft subscription active could still permit a later charge.
What happens to Game Pass access when the benefit ends?
Game Pass access is tied to an active eligible subscription or benefit. The plan’s subscription features can include the catalog, cloud gaming, online console multiplayer and partner benefits, depending on the tier. When the eligible subscription ends, those subscription-only benefits should not be treated as permanent entitlements.
Games obtained through the Game Pass catalog are not converted into owned games when access ends. You generally need to renew an eligible plan or purchase a title separately to keep playing it. A game that you bought outright remains a purchase; ending Game Pass does not remove ownership of separately purchased software.

The reviewed official materials do not state that T-Mix customers receive a special grace period after the benefit ends. If a game stops launching through the catalog, check the subscription status first. Reinstalling the game or switching consoles will not restore an expired subscription entitlement.

Existing-subscription handling is an unresolved point for the T-Mix offer. Xbox’s announcement does not say whether a direct Microsoft subscription will be transferred, stacked with the benefit, paused, extended, or left unchanged. A report published on October 26 also identified this overlap as unpublished at that time.
If you already pay Microsoft, do not cancel that subscription until you can see how the T-Mix activation is applied to your account. Check whether the Microsoft page shows one plan, two entitlements, a changed expiration date or a continuing payment method. If the display is unclear, ask T-Mobile how the promotion is attached and ask Microsoft which subscription controls billing before making a change.
Keep the existing subscription’s renewal date in mind. Activating a benefit close to that date could produce a charge before the T-Mix terms are clear. The safest approach is to document both offers, then make a cancellation decision only after confirming which entitlement will remain.
How is the T-Mix benefit different from buying Game Pass directly?
The practical differences are about who controls eligibility and what happens after the promotional period. The following comparison uses the published Xbox rule for ordinary promotional subscriptions and the limited information released for T-Mix as of October 30, 2026.

| Question | Direct Xbox promotional subscription | T-Mix Game Pass benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Who provides the offer? | Microsoft/Xbox | T-Mobile-linked T-Mix offer with Xbox Game Pass |
| Available tiers | The tier named in the Xbox promotion | Ultimate or Premium, chosen by an eligible U.S. T-Mix customer |
| After the promotion | Xbox says it continues at the regular price and specified term unless canceled in the Microsoft account | End-of-benefit and renewal mechanics were not published in the announcement reviewed |
| Where to check billing | Microsoft account subscription page | Microsoft account plus the specific T-Mobile offer terms |
| Existing Game Pass subscription | Handled under the terms of that Microsoft subscription | Transfer, stacking, pause and replacement rules were not published |
| Eligibility risk | Usually tied to the promotional offer’s conditions | May depend on continuing the qualifying T-Mix arrangement and selected Picks |
How should I judge the cost after the promotion?
Use the renewal price actually shown in your Microsoft account rather than an old screenshot or a price quoted for another country, tier or billing term. Microsoft can display different terms for monthly and longer periods, and the T-Mix benefit may have a separate wireless-plan cost that continues even if you stop using Game Pass.
Compare the complete cost of keeping the qualifying T-Mix arrangement with the direct Game Pass price available to you. Include the value of other T-Mix benefits only if you would keep the wireless plan for those benefits anyway. If Game Pass is the only reason to retain a more expensive arrangement, calculate the incremental wireless cost instead of treating the entire phone bill as the price of gaming access.
Do not rely on a promotional label after the first period. The regular-price statement on the Xbox product page applies to ordinary Xbox promotions; it should not be presented as a confirmed T-Mix conversion rule until Xbox or T-Mobile publishes complete terms.

A charge appears after you expected the benefit to end
Check the Microsoft account for recurring billing, the charged plan and the payment method. If the charge belongs to a standard Xbox promotion, the published rule explains the continuation. If it appears connected to T-Mix, compare the charge with the offer terms and contact the billing party shown on the account.

Game Pass disappears before the date you expected
Check whether the qualifying T-Mix plan or Picks selection changed, whether the benefit was redeemed on a different Microsoft account, and whether the offer had a shorter activation window than the wireless plan. T-Mobile’s account-specific terms control eligibility; the Xbox app cannot correct a missing promotion.

You see two Game Pass entries
Do not cancel either entry immediately. Record each plan’s tier, expiration date and billing owner, then request clarification from Microsoft or T-Mobile. The official T-Mix announcement did not establish whether overlapping subscriptions are stacked or replaced.
You cannot find recurring-billing controls
The subscription may be managed through a different Microsoft account or may be supplied as a benefit with no direct recurring billing. Sign out and check the account used during redemption, then review the T-Mobile promotion page for the eligibility and end instructions.
Key dates and a practical checklist
- Xbox announced the T-Mix Game Pass arrangement on October 26, 2026.
- Eligible U.S. customers are expected to receive the choice of Ultimate or Premium beginning in November 2026.
- The published Xbox automatic-renewal wording is a general rule for promotional subscriptions, not a finalized T-Mix rule.
- As of October 30, 2026, the T-Mix announcement did not publish complete termination, renewal or overlap terms.
- Before the next billing date, inspect the Microsoft subscription status and the T-Mobile offer terms together.
- Remember that subscription-library access ends with the eligible plan; separately purchased games remain separate purchases.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be charged when my free Game Pass period ends?
If the offer is a normal Xbox promotional subscription and recurring billing is active, Xbox says it continues at the regular price and specified term. The T-Mix benefit had no published conversion rule as of October 30, 2026, so check both account pages instead of assuming a charge or a free expiration.
Can I keep Game Pass if I change my T-Mix Picks?
The Xbox announcement does not say whether changing Picks ends the benefit immediately, at the next service period or not at all. Review the eligibility language attached to your specific T-Mobile account before changing selections.
What if my Microsoft account shows an expiration date but T-Mobile still lists the benefit?
The two systems may be displaying different parts of the arrangement: Microsoft may show the current entitlement while T-Mobile shows eligibility. Capture both dates and ask the provider identified as the billing or promotion owner which one controls access.
Do downloaded Game Pass games keep working after cancellation?
Downloading a catalog game does not make it an owned purchase. Once the eligible Game Pass access ends, you normally need to renew a qualifying plan or buy that title separately; a game purchased separately is unaffected.
