Treat those notes as potentially sensitive, and do not assume that “local” means the app never uses the internet or that no data can leave your device.
What BolsaBuddy is described as storing
In a developer-authored project post, Ssolidssnake9 describes BolsaBuddy as a free, fully local tracker for the Mexican stock market. The described workflow fetches Yahoo Finance data for the IPC (^MXX), calculates market indicators, and generates a daily brief with a local model or a templated fallback. The watchlist notes are the clearest example of user-authored information in that description. Depending on what you write, they could reveal your investment plans or decision rules. The post does not give an exhaustive inventory of data saved to disk, so it cannot establish whether BolsaBuddy also persists settings, downloaded market data, generated briefs, logs, or other files.
What “local” does—and does not—establish
The developer says, “It’s all local,” and says the model path requires no keys or accounts. That describes the project’s stated design, not an independently verified guarantee that every component runs offline or that no information leaves the device. The same description says the workflow fetches market data from Yahoo Finance, so “local” should not be read as “never connects to the internet.”

A local model or templated fallback for writing the brief is not, by itself, proof about the behavior of every dependency, script, cache, network request, or backup. The project description outlines scripts named fetch.py, analyze.py, brief.py, news.py, and report.py, but that pipeline is not a complete storage or data-flow specification.
What remains unverified
The project description does not document the precise files and fields retained, their retention period, deletion behavior, encryption, device access controls, or backup and sync settings. It also does not independently verify that no data leaves the device. Those details require inspecting the current repository and the version you have installed, including its dependencies, data files, caches, logs, and outbound requests. - Review the current code and dependencies. Before relying on the app for sensitive notes, inspect the installed version and its data paths, dependencies, and network behavior. Do not infer those details from the project’s local-first description alone.
- Secure the device. Use a strong device password or passcode and keep the operating system and app environment updated. Anyone with access to an unlocked device or project directory may be able to read local files.
- Limit access to the project’s data directory. Check who can access the account and folders where BolsaBuddy runs or saves files. The project description does not identify a specific data directory or provide app-level access controls.
- Check backups and synced folders. If the project directory is backed up or placed in a cloud-synced folder, the same local files may also be copied elsewhere. Review those services’ settings and access before saving sensitive investment notes.
- Keep watchlist notes appropriately discreet. Since the described watchlist can include personal investment reasoning, avoid putting information there that you would not want someone with access to the device or its files to see.
