No named main-story quest currently follows Prologue to Tau. As of October 30, 2026, it is the latest listed endpoint in Warframe’s Tau-facing story path. If you have finished it, you have reached the end of the currently published Tau arc rather than a point that leads into another announced quest.
The endpoint can change when Digital Extremes releases another chapter. For players still working toward it, the strict story order runs from Awakening through The New War, Whispers in the Walls, The Lotus Eaters, The Hex, The Old Peace, and finally Prologue to Tau.
What quest comes after Prologue to Tau?
There is no named successor in the current quest taxonomy. Prologue to Tau is the latest published main-story endpoint shown for the Tau-facing arc on October 30, 2026.

That answer is time-sensitive because Warframe receives continuing narrative updates. A future Tau chapter could add another quest, but no such follow-up is currently listed. If your Codex stops at Prologue to Tau, it is reflecting the present state of the story rather than a missing unlock.

The permanent quest was added on October 15, 2026. It should not be confused with the temporary Epoch Operation: Taubound event, which was scheduled to run from October 15 through November 17, 2026.
What is the main Warframe quest order leading to Prologue to Tau?
For a story-focused playthrough, use the following sequence. It is the linear main-story route, not a list of every quest that can appear in the Codex or every optional branch that may unlock earlier.

The three Prelude to War entries are shown separately because they are distinct mini-quests within that arc. In the official story grouping, the broader sequence is organized into arcs, while the current quest taxonomy also shows optional and one-off content outside this strict chain.
How do I unlock Prologue to Tau?
You must complete both The Hex and The Old Peace. Neither quest can be skipped if you are following the published route into Prologue to Tau.
- Open the Codex from your Orbiter.
- Review the main quest list and confirm that The Hex is complete.
- Complete The Old Peace after The Hex.
- Return to the Codex and select Prologue to Tau when it appears as available.
- Use the Codex’s tracked objective to start the next chapter and follow the in-game requirements shown for your account.
The Codex is the safest authority for personal progression because availability can differ by account. Digital Extremes’ Quest Guide says the game tracks quest progress so players know where to go next; a static web list cannot account for every completed prerequisite, unfinished objective, or staged release.
What quests are inside Prologue to Tau?
Prologue to Tau is presented as a narrative arc made of mini-quests rather than one uninterrupted mission. The current internal chronology begins with Lua, followed by Vessel, and then an additional mini-quest.

Lua
Lua is the first named mini-quest in the arc’s current order. Start with the version exposed by your Codex after the two prerequisites are complete.

Vessel follows Lua in the published internal chronology. Its appearance can depend on the staged rollout of the arc.
The additional mini-quest
A further mini-quest is part of the arc, but the chapters are being released in stages. Consequently, the complete set may not appear at once, even for a player who has reached Prologue to Tau.
Prologue to Tau is permanent and replayable. It is not a limited-time quest that disappears when an event window closes.
Is Epoch Operation: Taubound the next quest after Tau Prologue?
No. Epoch Operation: Taubound is a separate, limited-time event, not the next chapter in the permanent quest chain.
The event began on October 15, 2026 and was scheduled to end on November 17, 2026. Its rewards and dialogue are separate from the permanent Prologue to Tau Codex quest. Seeing Taubound content in the game does not indicate that a successor quest has been added after Prologue to Tau.

When the event window closes, the temporary event schedule does not change the permanent endpoint of the main-story taxonomy.
Where do Duviri Paradox, Jade Shadows and Angels of the Zariman fit?
These quests should not be inserted as mandatory steps after Prologue to Tau. The current taxonomy treats them as optional branches, separate arcs, or one-off content rather than links in the strict post-Tau chain.
Duviri Paradox
Duviri Paradox is grouped with New War-related story material, although it can become available earlier. Its earlier availability is a gameplay-unlock fact, not evidence that it occurs after Prologue to Tau.

These are separate branch content. Complete them when they become available if you want a broader account history, but do not use them as the answer to “what comes after Prologue to Tau?”
Angels of the Zariman
Angels of the Zariman is also outside the mandatory Tau-ending sequence. Its presence in a Codex list does not create a post-Tau successor.
This distinction resolves the apparent conflict between availability and narrative chronology: a quest may unlock early, belong to a related story grouping, or sit beside the main chain without being the next main-story chapter.

Should I follow a strict story order or a completionist order?
Choose the strict order when you want the clearest narrative path to Tau. Choose a completionist approach when you want every optional branch, even if the Codex makes some of those quests available before their most natural narrative position.

Why do some Warframe quest lists stop before Prologue to Tau?
The official Quest Guide’s rendered story list visibly runs through The Hex, while a later official announcement confirms that the Tau Prologue Quest was added on October 15, 2026 and is permanent. Current quest pages place Prologue to Tau after The Hex and The Old Peace.
Those sources describe different moments and views of the game. Use the release announcement for the quest’s permanent status and date, the current quest taxonomy for its placement, and your in-game Codex for your account’s actual unlocks.
If a third-party list ends at The Hex, it may simply predate the Tau Prologue release or have not refreshed its rendered list. That does not establish a hidden successor after Prologue to Tau.
What should I do after finishing Prologue to Tau?
There is no named main-story quest to select after it at present. Once the arc is complete, you can replay its available mini-quests, pursue optional branches, or wait for a future Tau chapter while continuing other available Warframe activities.

This is the practical meaning of “latest endpoint”: the story list currently stops there, but the game itself continues to receive non-successor content and future narrative updates.
How we determined the current endpoint
The order above uses the story-focused sequence and the current quest taxonomy, while the October 15, 2026 announcement establishes that Prologue to Tau is permanent and identifies its prerequisites. Optional branches were excluded from the mandatory chain, and the temporary Taubound event was kept separate because its rewards and dialogue are not part of the Codex quest.

Warframe exposes content according to each account’s completed prerequisites and the staged release of newer chapters. Two players can therefore see different available entries without either one having a different main-story order.
Does finishing Duviri Paradox change what comes after Prologue to Tau?
No. Duviri Paradox is related to the New War-era grouping but is not a successor to the Tau Prologue. Completing it can broaden your story context without adding a post-Tau quest to the main chain.
Will Taubound rewards remain after the event ends?
The event was scheduled to end on November 17, 2026, and its rewards and dialogue are separate from the permanent Codex quest. Event availability therefore should not be treated as a permanent addition to the Tau storyline.
