Changing the established 2% target would be difficult, she says, because the target’s usefulness depends on credibility. Can higher oil prices help the U.S. economy?
Fukui argues that the United States’ position as a net oil exporter can make higher oil prices a net growth enhancer for the country as a whole, because producers receive more revenue.
