There is no evidence here to name a fair overall winner. InMotion publishes retail hosting plans, prices, and capacity details; the cited Tucows material describes domain, network, and reseller services but does not establish a comparable Tucows hosting plan. If you need a hosting plan you can evaluate from published specifications, InMotion is the only documented option in this comparison. That is an evidence-based distinction—not proof that InMotion is faster, more reliable, or better supported.
Which web host wins: Tucows or InMotion?
InMotion is the only one of the two with directly documented hosting plans and prices in the cited official pages. Tucows’ FAQ describes the company’s domain and network services, its reseller model, and Exact Hosting as one of its brands, but it does not provide a current Exact Hosting plan to compare with InMotion.
That means this is not a like-for-like contest. There are no comparable Tucows-side prices, resource limits, hosting terms, or performance measurements in the cited material. InMotion’s published specifications make it possible to assess its offerings, but they do not establish an objective head-to-head win.
| What you want to compare | What the cited pages establish |
|---|---|
| Retail hosting plans | InMotion lists shared, VPS, dedicated, WordPress, and reseller hosting. The Tucows FAQ does not list comparable retail hosting plans. |
| Plan prices and capacity | InMotion publishes shared-plan examples and specifications. Comparable Tucows figures are not stated on the cited page. |
| Hosting performance | No independent head-to-head speed, uptime, reliability, or customer-satisfaction study is cited. |
| Domain support route | Tucows says a customer whose registrar listing shows Tucows should contact their Domain Provider or reseller about technical domain issues. |
Tucows’ FAQ and InMotion’s hosting overview describe different kinds of evidence. Treat InMotion’s listed features and specifications as provider-published claims, not independently verified outcomes.

What does Tucows provide, and is it the same as a web host?
Tucows says it provides network access, domain names, and other internet services. Its FAQ also lists Exact Hosting among its brands and describes OpenSRS and Enom as platforms serving a network of resellers. That company structure does not, by itself, establish a current retail hosting offer with specifications comparable to InMotion’s.
Tucows reports that OpenSRS and Enom manage a combined 29 million domain names and related services through a global network of more than 40,000 web hosts and internet service providers. Those are company-published figures on its FAQ, which does not give them a separate publication year; they should not be read as an independently measured market count or as hosting-plan capacity.
The practical distinction is between the service you buy and the company shown in a domain record. A customer may see Tucows as the registrar even though a reseller or Domain Provider handles the customer relationship. Tucows’ FAQ puts technical domain support with that provider: “Your Domain Provider is your primary contact for any technical issues related to your domain.”

The FAQ names Exact Hosting as a Tucows brand, but the cited page does not give its current retail plan lineup, prices, terms, availability, support comparisons, or measured hosting results. A brand listing is not enough to score Exact Hosting against InMotion’s published plans. Anyone considering a Tucows-related hosting offer should first confirm the seller, the current plan terms, and who provides technical support.
What does InMotion publish about its hosting options?
InMotion groups its offerings by workload and control needs. Its overview positions shared hosting for simpler sites and multi-site networks, VPS hosting for scalable resources and more control, and dedicated hosting for high-traffic sites or custom environments. It also lists Essential and managed WordPress hosting and reseller hosting. These are the provider’s descriptions, not independent recommendations or performance findings.
| Hosting type | How InMotion positions it | What to confirm before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Shared | Simpler websites and multi-site networks | Number of sites, storage, renewal price, and whether the plan’s limits fit the workload |
| VPS | Scalable resources and more control | Resource allocation, management and control-panel options, and current plan terms |
| Dedicated | High-traffic sites or custom environments | Current server configuration, support arrangement, and total price |
| WordPress | Essential and managed WordPress options are listed | Which management features and terms apply to the particular option |
| Reseller | Listed as a separate hosting category | Current included resources, customer-management tools, and terms |
The overview gives examples rather than a guaranteed current specification for every product. For instance, it shows a VPS example with 4 vCPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 160 GB NVMe SSD, 5 TB bandwidth, two dedicated IP addresses, free SSL, transfers and server setup, and cPanel or Control Web Panel availability. Its dedicated-server example lists 16 GB DDR3 RAM, 960 GB SSD, a Xeon E3-1246 v3 processor, and one dedicated IP. Confirm the configuration on the actual plan page before treating either example as an offer available to you.

Which InMotion shared plan fits a new site or small business?
For a small site or a small-business network, compare the number of websites and storage included with the price you will pay after the introductory period. InMotion’s shared-hosting page shows the following plan examples; the page also displays other price cards for different terms or options, so the figures below are not universal checkout prices.
| Plan | Displayed starting price | Displayed renewal price | Published capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch | $4.99 per month | $13.99 per month | 2 websites; 100 GB NVMe storage; unmetered bandwidth; approximately 50,000 monthly visitors |
| Power | $5.99 per month | $17.99 per month | 10 websites; 200 GB NVMe storage; approximately 300,000 monthly visitors |
| Pro | $10.99 per month | $24.99 per month | 40 websites; 300 GB NVMe storage; 2 vCPU cores; 4 GB RAM; approximately 500,000 monthly visitors |
These are vendor-listed figures on InMotion’s shared-hosting page, not independently measured visitor limits or a guarantee that a site will handle that level of traffic in every configuration. The page also displays promotional examples of $4.79, $5.79, and $10.59 per month, alongside higher monthly amounts. The price depends on the displayed term or option; check the selected offer and renewal amount at checkout rather than assuming one rate applies to every customer.
Use the site count and resources, not the visitor estimate alone
- Launch: consider it when two websites and 100 GB of NVMe storage cover the planned setup. Its published approximate visitor figure is a provider estimate, not an independent capacity test.
- Power: compare it when you need room for up to ten websites and 200 GB of listed storage. It does not list the Pro plan’s specific vCPU and RAM figures in the cited shared-plan summary.
- Pro: compare it if you need the listed 40-site allowance, 300 GB of storage, and the stated 2 vCPU cores and 4 GB RAM. The page’s approximate visitor estimate remains a vendor claim, not a promise of a particular speed or uptime.
“Unmetered bandwidth” is the wording on the plan page; it should not be mistaken for unlimited storage, unlimited computing resources, or a guarantee against all usage restrictions. Review the selected plan’s terms for applicable limits and acceptable-use rules.
What do InMotion’s shared prices include, and what should you verify?
The shared-hosting page lists SSL, malware and DDoS protection, a web application firewall, website migration, cPanel email, and Hosting Plus support for Python, Node.js, Ruby, and Git. It also advertises 24/7 human support, a one-month professional-email trial, and a 90-day money-back guarantee. These are vendor-advertised features and terms; confirm what applies to the exact plan and billing selection before purchase.
InMotion also lists a free domain credit, but its stated eligibility is limited: it applies to qualifying 12-, 24-, or 36-month hosting plans, covers the first year, and domain registration fees are non-refundable. A domain credit is therefore not the same as permanently free registration. Check the domain’s renewal price and the hosting plan’s renewal rate when estimating the cost beyond the initial term.

A quick price-and-terms check
- Open InMotion’s shared-hosting plan page and identify the plan and billing term you intend to buy.
- Read the price shown for that selection, then locate the renewal price. Do not substitute a promotional card for the rate that applies to your chosen term.
- Check the listed website count, storage, and any stated CPU or memory allocation against your actual setup.
- Confirm which listed features apply to the selected tier, including migration, email, security features, and domain credit eligibility.
- If the domain credit matters to your budget, verify the term requirement, first-year coverage, domain renewal cost, and non-refundable registration fee.
- Review the current guarantee and support terms for the exact product before completing checkout.
How should you budget for the second year?
The renewal number is often the most important figure for a small business because a site may remain online for years after the introductory offer ends. Using the displayed examples, Launch changes from $4.99 to $13.99 per month, Power from $5.99 to $17.99, and Pro from $10.99 to $24.99. Those are monthly figures shown by InMotion, not a promise that every billing term will use the same amounts. Record the total due at checkout, the length of the initial term, and the date on which the renewal rate begins.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Do not treat a longer prepayment term as a permanently lower price. The page shows multiple cards, including promotional examples of $4.79, $5.79, and $10.59, which indicates that the selected term or option affects the displayed rate. A qualifying 12-, 24-, or 36-month term may receive the first-year domain credit, but the registration fee is non-refundable and the domain can have a separate renewal charge. Put hosting renewal, domain renewal, email after the one-month trial, and any paid add-ons in the same budget.
Which plan fits different site stages?
A new brochure site, portfolio, or local-service website may need only one or two installations, modest storage, email, SSL, and a migration path. Launch’s listed two-site allowance and 100 GB NVMe capacity can be a reasonable starting point if those limits match the project. A small agency or business group running several separate sites may value Power’s ten-site and 200 GB listing more than a small difference in the introductory price.
Pro is the documented shared option with the largest site allowance in this comparison: 40 websites, 300 GB of storage, 2 vCPU cores, and 4 GB RAM. Those figures can be relevant for a larger portfolio, but they do not automatically make it suitable for a busy application. If a project requires server-level configuration, predictable dedicated resources, or unusual software, compare the VPS category instead of assuming that a higher shared tier supplies the same control.

The page-specific VPS example lists 4 vCPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 160 GB NVMe SSD, 5 TB bandwidth, two dedicated IPs, free SSL, transfers and server setup, plus cPanel or Control Web Panel availability. A high-traffic or custom environment may be better aligned with the dedicated category, whose example lists 16 GB DDR3 RAM, 960 GB SSD, a Xeon E3-1246 v3, and one dedicated IP. These examples must be checked against the live offer because configurations and availability can change.
What remains unknown about a Tucows-related hosting choice?
The available Tucows FAQ does not answer the questions a buyer normally needs for a hosting comparison: the current retail plan name, included websites, storage, CPU or memory, bandwidth policy, introductory price, renewal price, backup policy, control panel, migration terms, money-back terms, or measured uptime and speed. It also does not say whether Exact Hosting currently sells a consumer plan directly, through a reseller, or under another commercial arrangement.
That gap is important, not a minor footnote. Without a matching offer, a table that awards Tucows a score for price, performance, support, or value would be speculation. If a reseller presents an Exact Hosting or Tucows-branded plan, request a current plan URL or written terms and identify the legal seller. Confirm whether the quoted price includes domain registration, email, backups, SSL, migration, and support, and ask what rate applies after the initial term.

What should you verify before moving a domain or site?
- Separate registrar from host: write down the company that controls the domain registration and the company that provides the server.
- Export account details: retain invoices, renewal dates, DNS records, email settings, and administrator credentials before changing providers.
- Confirm migration scope: ask whether files, databases, email mailboxes, DNS, and certificates are included, since a general migration statement may not describe every component.
- Check the nameservers: know whether the host or registrar will manage DNS and who can restore records if a change fails.
- Price the complete term: include the introductory rate, renewal rate, domain renewal, email after any trial, and optional services.
- Identify escalation paths: determine who handles a website outage, a domain transfer, a billing dispute, and a renewal problem.
- Save cancellation terms: note the guarantee period and exclusions, including the non-refundable domain registration fee stated by InMotion.
Who should you contact if Tucows appears as your domain registrar?
Contact the Domain Provider or reseller that sold or manages the domain, rather than assuming Tucows is your hosting company. Tucows’ FAQ says the listed registrar relationship runs through a reseller and identifies the Domain Provider as the primary contact for technical domain issues.
To find the right contact, check the domain purchase confirmation, account dashboard, or renewal notices for the company that manages your registration. If the issue is a hosting server or website plan, contact the company that sold that hosting service; the registrar listing alone does not identify the host. If the Domain Provider is unclear, Tucows’ FAQ explains the reseller relationship and support route.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How can you make a fair comparison before choosing?
Compare actual offers rather than brand names. For InMotion, the shared-hosting page supplies enough published information to start a plan-level review. For a Tucows-related option, first obtain the current product page or written terms for the actual host or reseller selling it. Then compare the same items on both sides.
- Product identity: establish the company providing hosting, not only the registrar named for a domain.
- Capacity: compare website count, storage, CPU and memory where stated, bandwidth terms, and any traffic guidance.
- Total cost: record the introductory rate, billing term, renewal rate, and domain registration and renewal fees.
- Included services: check SSL, migration, email, backups or security features, and the conditions attached to any credit or guarantee.
- Support responsibility: identify who handles hosting faults, domain changes, billing questions, and renewals.
- Evidence quality: separate provider-advertised specifications from independently measured performance. The cited pages do not provide a comparative uptime, speed, reliability, or customer-satisfaction study.
Until a current Tucows-related retail hosting offer and comparable measurements are available, the useful conclusion is narrow: InMotion is the documented choice for the published hosting plans and prices in this comparison. It is not possible to conclude from these sources that InMotion objectively outperforms Tucows or a particular Tucows-related host.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does seeing Tucows in my domain records mean Tucows hosts my website?
Not necessarily. The registrar listing identifies a domain-registration role, while the company providing hosting may be a different business; check your hosting account or invoice to identify the server provider.
What should I ask a reseller before buying a Tucows-related hosting plan?
Ask for the exact hosting plan URL or written offer, the seller’s legal and support contact details, the introductory and renewal costs, and who handles hosting versus domain problems. The cited Tucows FAQ does not establish current Exact Hosting plan terms.

Can I compare a domain registrar and a hosting company directly?
Only if the specific services being sold overlap. A registrar’s role in managing a domain is different from providing server space, so compare the actual hosting product and support obligations rather than the registrar name alone.
Are the visitor numbers on hosting plans guaranteed traffic capacity?
The shared-plan page presents them as approximate monthly visitor figures, but the cited material does not describe them as independently tested guarantees. Ask the host how it defines the estimate and what happens if your site exceeds the plan’s practical limits.
Is InMotion’s free domain permanently free?
No. InMotion describes a domain credit for qualifying 12-, 24-, or 36-month hosting plans that covers the first year. Registration fees are non-refundable, and you should check the domain’s renewal price separately.

Which InMotion shared plan is best for several small websites?
Power lists ten websites and 200 GB of NVMe storage, while Pro lists 40 websites and 300 GB plus 2 vCPU cores and 4 GB RAM. Choose based on the number of sites and resources you actually need, then verify the current checkout terms.
Does unmetered bandwidth mean there are no limits?
No. It describes the bandwidth wording on the plan page, not unlimited storage, CPU, memory, or unrestricted use. Read the selected plan’s acceptable-use and resource terms.
Does InMotion’s 90-day guarantee prove better support than Tucows?
No. It is a vendor-advertised guarantee for the applicable InMotion product. The cited Tucows material does not provide a matching guarantee or support comparison, so it cannot support a head-to-head conclusion.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: InMotion wins only the documentation test: it publishes directly comparable hosting plans, capacities, prices, renewal rates, and feature terms. Tucows’ cited FAQ establishes domain, network, and reseller services and names Exact Hosting as a brand, but it does not establish a current retail hosting offer. Choose InMotion when those published plans fit your needs, and seek a current plan, price, and support agreement before treating any Tucows-related service as a true alternative.
