The S26 series was announced on February 25, 2026, and released on March 11. Choose the Ultra if you need the largest camera system, maximum performance, or the Privacy Display. The standard S26 is the more sensible choice if a smaller phone matters more than the Ultra’s specialist features.
iPhone 17 Pro Max: best overall iPhone
Tom’s Guide currently ranks the iPhone 17 Pro Max as its overall top phone. It starts at $1,199 and combines Apple’s A19 Pro chip with a 48MP telephoto camera, an 18MP Center Stage front camera, and wired charging up to 35W.
Battery life is its strongest practical advantage. In Tom’s Guide’s web-browsing test, the Pro Max lasted nearly 18 hours. That does not mean every user will get 18 hours—gaming, camera use, cellular reception, and display brightness can reduce endurance—but it is a strong result for people who spend long days away from a charger.
There is one important caveat around Apple’s AI messaging. Apple Intelligence features are supported, but the promised Siri improvements involving AI were not all present in the initial iOS 26 release. Those improvements were still expected later in 2026, so do not buy the phone solely for a Siri capability that may not yet be available on your device.

Samsung Galaxy Book 6 family: promising, but check availability
Samsung announced the Galaxy Book 6, Galaxy Book 6 Pro, and Galaxy Book 6 Ultra with Core Ultra Series 3 processors and redesigned thermal-management systems.
