The Witch’s Bakery works best when you treat each in-game day as three different jobs: keep the bakery running by day, explore Paris and build friendships in the evening, then use the night for magic, recipes, or rest. Dough, cleanliness, and customer patience keep Orio baking; conversations, gifts, outings, and Heart Palaces deepen relationships. One important spoiler-light rule: finish available Side Journeys before completing Kei’s Palace, because the city becomes inaccessible soon after.
Content note: The game’s new-save flow warns about mentions of suicide, arachnophobia, violence, bullying, stress and burnout, a side character’s death, panic attacks, and optional sexual content. Its cozy presentation does not mean every story thread is light.
How does a day work in The Witch’s Bakery?
A day has three phases, and each has a different purpose: daytime is for bakery operations and brief magical encounters, evening is for Paris and its people, and night is for Atelier activities, décor, or sleep. The story advances across days as Lunne earns money, experience, and fame, so neglecting one phase can make the next less productive.
| Phase | What opens | Best beginner priority |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime | The bakery, customer orders, and small emotional mazes or Heart Dives | Keep dough moving, monitor cleanliness and patience, and serve customers who are close to leaving first. |
| Evening | Paris districts, shops, character visits, activities, and Heart Palaces | Follow new invitations or requests, then revisit people connected to unfinished tasks. |
| Night | The rooftop, Atelier, books, décor, and rest | Choose a useful activity only if Lunne has energy left; sleeping restores the next day’s capacity. |
The exact bakery hours are not consistently reported. NoobFeed and a beginner video describe closing at 6:00 p.m.; TV Tropes lists a Monday-to-Saturday schedule of 8:00–16:00. Use the phase transition shown in your game rather than relying on either published clock. The bakery is closed on Sundays, which TV Tropes describes as a free day with two activity slots.

This is a narrative adventure with a management loop, not a cooking game you can stay in all day. NoobFeed notes that much of the playtime goes to conversations and character events. The baking systems matter because they support the story and help fund evenings, but the game does not impose sales targets, and required story treats still appear even after a poor sales day.
How do I keep dough from running out, and why did Orio stop baking?
Lunne makes dough with magic; Orio bakes the prepared dough and sorts finished treats into baskets. If the dough counter is empty, Orio has nothing to bake, so check supply before assuming a production bug. From Day 3 onward, cleanliness also matters, and customers’ patience meters can become another bottleneck.
Keep the bakery moving
- Make dough early and during lulls. You cannot prepare it before the shop opens, according to NoobFeed, so use the first quiet minutes and the midday lull to restock. A beginner video reports that unused dough does not carry into the next day; avoid making a large surplus near closing.
- Watch what is selling. When one treat is draining its basket faster than the others, tell Orio to prioritize that item. Baskets can empty quickly when demand is uneven.
- Protect customer patience. Greet customers to gain extra preparation time, talk to customers whose patience is falling to restore it, and serve the most impatient first. Talking is not wasted time if it prevents an order from being lost.
- Clean once the mechanic appears. Cleanliness becomes a production condition from Day 3. If Orio stops despite having dough, check the cleanliness counter as well as supply.
- Move quickly when needed. Hold Shift to walk faster on PC.
On Day 2, the game adds bread dough and viennoiserie dough. Viennoiserie preparation includes a roller mini-game: keep the roller inside the dough outline to finish faster, then respond to the button prompts. The bakery’s early pace is meant to stay manageable; use the pauses between orders rather than trying to work at full speed every moment.

Mawuli can later make customers more patient through a bakery ability, and using that ability also raises Mawuli’s friendship. Estelle joins later and automatically produces pastries; Into Indie Games places her arrival around Days 26–30. Lunne does not handle pastries as a baker until that point. Twinkles, recruited around Day 33 according to Into Indie Games, fill three helper slots; training them costs time and energy, and different Twinkles do different jobs. Releasing one lets you swap helpers.
The later menu can show up to three kinds of goods: Bread, Viennoiserie, and Pastry. If a production stop seems inconsistent with a full dough counter, keep in mind that NoobFeed documented an early bug of that kind. Launch patches were still arriving in late October 2026, so check current patch notes before treating an unexpected stop as a strategy mistake.
What should I do in Paris after the bakery closes?
Use the evening for the people and tasks that unlock more of the game. Each district has its own characters, shops, and activities; outings cost money and energy, but can increase friendship and Lunne’s skill tree for anger, sadness, and fear. Fast travel is available, though NoobFeed says it can be easy to miss until you walk to the end of a scene.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Check for a new invitation or request. A daytime conversation or text may point to a specific person or place. Accept invitations and answer texts rather than letting them sit, especially Estelle’s pastry-tasting message.
- Choose an evening destination with a purpose. Favor the person tied to an open request, a Side Journey, or a Heart Palace barrier. If nothing is urgent, a repeat visit to a shopkeeper can still move a relationship forward.
- Make a short list of unfinished character threads. Some Side Journeys begin through repeated conversations, not one first meeting. Mr. Martin, Hassan, and Best, who works at the bakery on Rue des Barres, are examples of characters worth revisiting.
- Budget for the outing. A good bakery day can fund a fuller evening, but an outing spends both money and energy. If recovery matters more than progress that night, the park can be a rest option.
Useful early destinations
- Passage Verdeau, Day 2: Solve the stars-and-photo puzzle to find Ghaldari’s magic shop. The bottomless bag is a useful early purchase; a Japanese walkthrough lists it at 10.50€.
- Hassan’s bookshop: Recipe books add bakery options, so consider these before spending heavily on cosmetics.
- Judith Tessier’s decoration shop: Buy décor when recipe options and immediate requests are covered. Decoration collections include themed sets, and collecting can contribute to achievements.
- Daniel at the park: The park unlocks around Day 7 according to Into Indie Games. Friday visits are relevant to the “At Peace” Side Journey.
- Mawuli’s invitations: Accepting activities such as Maria Kart, apartment visits, and shop trips can develop the relationship as well as advance Lunne’s social life.
Recipe books are sold in the city, including at Hassan’s bookshop and Ghaldari’s magic shop; they are not limited to story rewards. Gifts are character-specific. A gift icon in a shop inventory identifies the intended recipient, and “give gift” appears on a later visit. The game may not remind you that a purchased gift is waiting in inventory, so deliver it promptly.
How do I raise friendship, hearts, and relationship levels?
Relationships rise through repeated contact and relevant actions, not through one universal gift or conversation choice. On PC, press P to open Lunne’s phone and check Contacts for heart progress. Friendships are functional as well as narrative: they can unlock bakery abilities, companions, Side Journeys, and progress through a character’s Heart Palace.
- Talk when a dialogue prompt appears. Orio’s prompt often appears at the bottom left after story beats, so check instead of walking past it.
- Buy from the person you are trying to know better: books from Hassan, décor from Judith, magic books from Ghaldari, or activities from the relevant venue.
- Invite characters to restaurants, the cinema, concerts, or theater once those invitations unlock.
- Give the character’s exclusive gift, identified by its gift icon, and return to them to deliver it.
- Complete their Side Journey and heal them in a Heart Palace with the appropriate bread.
- Answer their texts and accept invitations. Repeated visits may be necessary to trigger a Side Journey or another conversation.
Who can Lunne romance?
Estelle is the only romance route. She appears in Chapter 2, and relationship choices shape the romance; optional intimate scenes are available. Four relationship levels are documented for Estelle’s romance route by GamerSky and GamingAlly, while SteamAH listed three hearts on 28 October 2026. The four-level figure is supported by the route achievements documented by those other guides, but the conflicting count is worth knowing if your phone display differs.
Other prominent characters have shorter friendship caps. The documented caps are Orio 4, Mirembe 3, Mawuli 3, Ghaldari 2, Hassan 2, Judith Tessier 2, Mr. Martin 2, and Kei 2. These are relationship levels, not additional romance routes. Mirembe’s first heart may remain locked until a Side Journey; using Mawuli’s customer-patience ability and visiting Kei for mentoring, story events, gifts, or kitchen training are among the more specific ways to develop those relationships.
What should I do at night, and how do I avoid burnout?
Night is a limited final activity block, not a second full evening. If Lunne has energy, prioritize learning or practicing a recipe; if she is depleted, sleep rather than forcing one more activity. TV Tropes estimates a full night’s sleep restores 150 energy and that each night activity costs 50, but those figures come from a fan compilation and should be treated as medium-confidence guidance.
Choose the activity that solves the next problem
- Learn a recipe: Use a book acquired in Paris to add a new option in the Atelier.
- Practice a recipe: NoobFeed says practice can raise recipes through levels 2 and 3; each level shortens bake time and increases the treat’s value.
- Read a skill book or work on magic: Choose this when the next story obstacle or emotional maze makes skill growth more useful than another bakery item.
- Decorate: Use a night slot for a collection or achievement goal after essential recipes are covered.
- Sleep: Go to bed when the remaining energy is more valuable tomorrow. Orio will eventually march Lunne to bed if she stays up too late.
Two night activities can leave only about 50 energy under the TV Tropes estimate. Consecutive all-nighters without a park rest or meals can trigger Burnout and a forced day off; the achievement “Oh No Lunne” is tied to that state. You do not need to fill every available slot to make progress.

The first Atelier recipe arrives around Days 6–8: Braided Broche, also called Braided Brioche in some guides. Its preparation asks you to measure on the marked scale area, mix, knead, use Orio’s magic, and stop the oven at the correct temperature. Nintendo Life and Superstar Reviews note that Atelier mini-games can feel fiddly docked on Switch 2; handheld play may be easier, and some menus use detached Joy-Con mouse mode.
What are Heart Dives and Heart Palaces?
Heart Dives are short emotional mazes encountered while serving customers; Heart Palaces are larger, multi-visit story dungeons for major characters. A Heart Palace barrier often means Lunne needs to know the person better before she can proceed, not that the player should keep searching the same room for a hidden puzzle solution.
Small Regrets in the bakery
Customer Regrets lead into small maze sequences, and the bakery timer pauses during these mazes according to NoobFeed. The obstacles reflect emotions: sadness uses water waves that can be avoided behind lines, anger uses timed fire tiles, and fear brings darkness in which you search for the heart orb. Mixed feelings can require two mazes.

Large Regrets and healing bread
For a major character, Lunne enters a Heart Palace, guides the personified Emotion to the Heart’s Cradle, and finds the key ingredient for healing bread. The story arcs include Estelle’s sadness, Mawuli’s fear, and Kei’s anger. These Palaces require several visits, and getting spotted by a Torment restarts a short section rather than ending the game.
In the early Estelle Palace visit around Day 5, a heart barrier is a signal to leave, build the relationship, and talk to Ghaldari. Do not spend an entire evening trying to force it. The game expects the player to return after other story and friendship progress.
What should I prioritize in the first week?
The first week teaches the full loop: make dough, learn when to leave a Palace, and reserve time for Paris. This low-spoiler route focuses on practical unlocks rather than revealing later story events.

Can I continue my demo save?
No. Demo saves are incompatible with the full game, and continuing from one can block progress even if “Continue” appears. On Steam, set Game Versions & Betas to Default Public Version, then choose New Game.

How many Side Journeys are there, and is there a point of no return?
The Witch’s Bakery Wiki, citing TheGamer, documents 15 Side Journeys. The main planning risk is that city exploration becomes unavailable shortly after Kei’s Palace, almost immediately after the TV interview airs, according to TheGamer as reported by the wiki and repeated by GamerSky. Finish available Side Journeys before completing Kei’s Palace; the game reportedly gives no in-game warning before that cutoff.
Side Journeys help fill side-character hearts and count toward the “The Heart Of Paris” all-side-quests achievement. Several require repeated conversations, so a missing quest marker does not necessarily mean the thread is closed. Keep an eye on the following:
- An Honest Partner: Follow Estelle’s pastry-testing text rather than postponing it indefinitely; no exact deadline is documented.
- At Peace: Visit Daniel in the park on Fridays after that area unlocks.
- Youngsters in the Neighborhood, One of Us, and The Best Tips: Revisit Mr. Martin, Hassan, and Best to uncover their conversations and quests.
- Orin versus Orio: Orin is associated with a wedding cake, while Orio is Lunne’s companion; keep their similar names distinct when following park, Lys, or Cauchemar references.
Two dialogue achievements, “Pain au Chocolat” and “Chocolatine,” are mutually exclusive in one run, so GamingAlly says both require a second playthrough. Money achievements at 100, 1,000, and 7,500 euros are cumulative on one save and do not carry between files.

Steam’s minimum PC requirements are Windows 10 64-bit, an AMD Athlon X4 or Intel Core i5-4460 processor, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 950 or Radeon R7 370 graphics card, DirectX 11, and 20 GB of available storage. Steam lists the game as Steam Deck Verified and supports Steam Cloud. The Steam listing includes English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish (Spain); Gameforest, citing the store, also lists Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese, for eight text languages in total.
The game is single-player only. Sunny Lab’s official site lists 15 hours, while Nintendo Life calls it a 15-hour game. Other published estimates place it closer to 20–25 hours or more depending on reading speed and playstyle: Sunny Lab’s Steam community announcement, cited by Gameforest, and NoobFeed give that broader range. Superstar Reviews estimates roughly 15–25 hours. Treat these as estimates rather than a fixed completion time.
What kind of story and tone should I expect?
The official Steam description calls the game a cozy narrative Adventure RPG about a joyful witch opening a bakery in modern Paris and healing emotions through magic. Sunny Lab describes the same premise as healing emotions with bread. The core mix is light daily work and friendship alongside stories about mental health, burnout, emotion, and loss; the warnings are a better guide to heavier content than the cozy art style alone.
Sunny Lab co-founder and creative director Charlotte Gailledreau has said the team wanted a cozy world that could address mental health, burnout, or loss while making room for humor, friendship, and small happy moments. She has also described the gameplay as simple and approachable, designed to complement the narrative rather than challenge the player. That framing fits the practical advice in this guide: when blocked, the intended next move is often to talk to someone or return later, not to grind a difficult puzzle.
The music also has named touchstones: Cécile Corbel, known for composing for Studio Ghibli’s Arrietty, wrote the main theme, while rooftop scenes at night use Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune.
How to make a smooth first playthrough
- Plan across phases. Do not spend every available moment on bakery production; the evening and night systems unlock much of the game’s character and recipe progression.
- Use a blocked Palace as a clue. If a heart barrier stops you, leave, strengthen the relationship, and pursue the story’s suggested conversations.
- Buy recipes before cosmetic extras. Recipes improve variety and can improve bake speed and value through practice; décor is a later spending priority unless it serves a collection goal.
- Revisit people. Side Journeys and conversations can emerge after multiple visits, so make returning to familiar characters part of exploration.
- Protect the save from avoidable lockouts. Start a new full-game save rather than continuing a demo file, and complete Side Journeys before Kei’s Palace is finished.
- Let Lunne rest. Night energy is limited, and burnout can cost more time than the activity would have saved.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Steam achievements does The Witch’s Bakery have?
The Steam listing is cited as having 60 achievements. Some goals are tied to particular dialogue choices, so an achievement list can be useful if you want to plan a second run.
Does The Witch’s Bakery have a difficulty setting?
No difficulty slider is documented; NoobFeed reported that the game has none. Its developer describes the gameplay as approachable and narrative-led, but players seeking adjustable challenge should not expect a conventional difficulty menu.
Does The Witch’s Bakery support Steam Cloud saves?
Yes. The Steam listing includes Steam Cloud support, which can synchronize saves for supported Steam setups. That does not make demo saves compatible with the full release.
