The top React reporting tools are DevExpress Reporting, Bold Reports, Telerik Reporting, and Stimulsoft Reports, but no product is best for every application. DevExpress is the default choice for .NET-backed React apps; Bold Reports leads for embedded, multi-tenant SaaS; Telerik suits Progress ecosystems; and Stimulsoft stands out for cross-platform breadth.
A React reporting integration is usually more than a chart or table component. React supplies the application interface, while a server-side reporting engine loads data, evaluates parameters and expressions, lays out pages, renders documents, and produces exports such as PDF or Excel.
Key takeaways
- DevExpress Reporting is the strongest default for a .NET-centric React application that needs pixel-accurate operational reports, a viewer, and runtime report design.
- Bold Reports is the strongest shortlist candidate for embedded SaaS reporting because it advertises multi-tenancy, white-labeling, row-level security, SSO, scheduling, and self-hosted deployment.
- Telerik Reporting is particularly suitable for established Progress or Telerik teams and supports a React viewer, multiple designers, interactive navigation, and a separate Report Server.
- Stimulsoft Reports is the most compelling cross-platform option when a team wants .NET or Java server-side reporting, a browser-based designer, dashboards, forms, and extensive export formats.
- A React chart library, data grid, or PDF generator is not automatically a complete reporting platform; a full system also needs report definitions, data binding, pagination, viewing, export, and security.
What are the top React reporting tools?
The top React reporting tools for serious embedded reporting are DevExpress Reporting, Bold Reports, Telerik Reporting, and Stimulsoft Reports. The right choice depends first on the backend and reporting job, then on designer capabilities, deployment, export quality, migration requirements, and licensing.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →| Best for | Product | Why it belongs on the shortlist | Main qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best overall for .NET-heavy teams | DevExpress Reporting | React viewer and end-user designer, mature .NET tooling, broad exports, and migration utilities | Requires a .NET or ASP.NET Core backend rather than running as a browser-only engine |
| Best for embedded SaaS and SSRS compatibility | Bold Reports | React viewer and designer, RDL/RDLC support, multi-tenancy, white-labeling, scheduling, and flexible deployment | Pricing is quote-based |
| Best for Progress/Telerik ecosystems | Telerik Reporting | Interactive HTML5 viewer through a React wrapper, several designer options, broad export support, and Report Server | Reporting and Report Server can involve separate subscription costs |
| Best for cross-platform breadth | Stimulsoft Reports | React viewer and designer, .NET or Java server options, dashboards and forms, and extensive export coverage | Product-family and licensing choices need careful matching to the architecture |
These are use-case recommendations based on documented capabilities and commercial signals, not independent performance benchmarks. Rendering speed, memory use, and export fidelity still depend on report complexity, database design, data volume, server resources, and output format.

What counts as a React reporting tool?
A complete React reporting tool normally combines a React-facing viewer or designer with a report engine and a governed data-access layer. The minimum useful platform usually includes report definitions, data binding, layout or pagination, parameters, preview, printing, export, and an integration path for authentication and authorization.
Operational or paginated reporting
Operational reporting produces invoices, statements, labels, forms, regulatory documents, and other printable output. This workload needs predictable page breaks, headers and footers, repeated table headers, grouping, subreports, parameters, and reliable PDF rendering. A dashboard optimized for screen interaction may be a poor replacement for a multi-page invoice.
Interactive embedded reporting
Interactive reporting places a report viewer inside an application. Users may search, zoom, filter, sort, drill down, follow drill-through links, print, or export without leaving the product.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Self-service report design
Self-service reporting lets business users create or modify reports at runtime through a desktop or browser-based designer. Self-service design also requires report storage, versioning, permissions, safe data-source governance, validation, tenant isolation, and auditability.
Dashboards and business intelligence
Dashboards focus on KPIs, charts, cross-filtering, and exploration. Dashboards and paginated reports can coexist, but a dashboard product is not automatically a document-generation engine.
Document generation
A programmatic PDF, Word, or Excel library can be sufficient for a fixed template. A document library is not equivalent to a reporting platform when users need a viewer, reusable report definitions, runtime parameters, a visual designer, scheduling, or multiple export targets.
How do the React integrations actually work?
Most React reporting products use React as the presentation layer while rendering reports on a server. The browser loads a viewer or designer, sends authenticated requests, and receives rendered pages or export results; database credentials and report queries should remain behind the application or reporting server.

| DevExpress Reporting | JavaScript-based React reporting integration | Server-side .NET reporting engine | .NET or ASP.NET Core backend required for the documented React integration | Developer tooling plus embedded end-user report designer |
| Bold Reports | React viewer and React report designer | Server-side reporting platform | Confirm the exact server and deployment model for the selected edition | Embedded web designer with RDL/RDLC authoring |
| Telerik Reporting | React wrapper around the HTML5 Report Viewer | Server-side Telerik reporting solution | Best evaluated as a .NET-oriented reporting architecture, not a pure browser engine | Standalone desktop, web, and Visual Studio designers |
| Stimulsoft Reports | React components and viewer | Server-side .NET or Java, with documented client/server options | Suitable for .NET or Java deployments; verify the exact package and hosting model | Browser-based Designer plus report, dashboard, and form authoring |
DevExpress embedded React reporting documentation describes a React application connected to a .NET backend. Telerik’s viewer documentation identifies the React viewer as a wrapper around its HTML5 Report Viewer. Stimulsoft’s React documentation documents server-side .NET and Java options, browser-based design, and server-side rendering and export.
Which tool has the best report viewer?
All four shortlisted products support the core viewer workflow, but their documented interaction sets differ. Telerik is especially explicit about interactive navigation, while DevExpress, Bold Reports, and Stimulsoft provide the viewer and export capabilities needed for embedded application reporting.
| Viewer capability | DevExpress | Bold Reports | Telerik | Stimulsoft |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Preview, page navigation, zoom, search | Supported through Web Document Viewer | Supported by React viewer | Supported by HTML5 viewer | Documented for React viewer |
| Print and export | Supported | Supported | Supported | Supported |

| Sorting and grouping | Report and data features support these scenarios | Supported through report design and data features | Documented | Available through report design and viewer workflows |
| Drill-down and drill-through | Available in reporting features | Verify the exact report scenario during evaluation | Explicitly documented | Verify the exact interaction required |
| Bookmarks and document maps | Verify against the selected viewer version | Verify against the selected edition | Explicitly documented | Verify against the selected report type |
| Mobile, touch, and accessibility | Test the specific viewer and report layout | Test the specific viewer and deployment | Test the specific viewer and keyboard workflow | Test the specific viewer and target browsers |
Telerik documents filtering, sorting, grouping, parameters, drill-down, drill-through, document maps, hyperlinks, printing, and navigation. For accessibility, keyboard behavior, touch interaction, and mobile layouts, a proof of concept is more reliable than a generic feature label because report complexity and the host application affect the result.
Which React reporting tools include a report designer?
Report viewers and report designers are separate capabilities: a viewer displays an existing report, while a designer creates or edits its definition. The four products support different combinations of developer-first, desktop, and embedded web authoring.

| Authoring model | Best for | Trade-off | Shortlist examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| IDE or developer-first designer | Governed layouts, source control, repeatable releases, and engineering-owned reports | Less convenient for nontechnical authors | DevExpress tooling; Telerik Visual Studio designer |
| Desktop report designer | Centralized report specialists and pixel-precise authoring | Installation, desktop management, and separate authoring workflow | Telerik standalone designer; product-specific DevExpress or Stimulsoft tools |
| Embedded web designer | SaaS self-service reporting and runtime customer customization | Requires strict permissions, tenant isolation, safe data sources, storage, and auditing | Bold Reports React designer; DevExpress end-user designer; Stimulsoft browser-based Designer |
Bold Reports documents a React report designer for RDL/RDLC report creation, data sources, preview, export, and saving to Bold Report Server or SSRS Report Server. Stimulsoft positions its browser-based Designer as an authoring environment for reports, dashboards, PDF forms, and data visualization.
Embedded design should never mean unrestricted SQL access. Give authors curated data sources and controlled fields, resolve connections on the server, validate parameters, restrict expressions and URLs, and store each report definition under an authenticated tenant and version.
How do the export formats compare?
Export breadth matters only when the generated files preserve the properties users actually need. PDF is usually layout-oriented, Excel is usually data-oriented, CSV removes formatting, Word can reflow content, and HTML may depend on CSS and fonts.
| Product | Documented export coverage | What to test before purchase |
|---|---|---|
| DevExpress Reporting | PDF, DOCX, RTF, XLS/XLSX, TXT, MHT, CSV, HTML, and image formats including SVG | Fonts, page breaks, nested groups, charts, images, and Excel formulas versus static values |
| Bold Reports | PDF, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CSV, XML, and HTML across listed editions | RDL/RDLC layout fidelity, large exports, locale-specific values, and customer branding |
| Telerik Reporting | Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF, MHTML, CSV, RTF, and image formats; the product advertises 15-plus formats | Multi-page documents, group headers, print layout, and spreadsheet usability |
| Stimulsoft Reports | PDF, Excel, Word, HTML, CSV, XML, JSON, RTF, OpenDocument, text, and multiple image formats | Pixel fidelity, selectable text, RTL output, charts, and the exact export package licensed |
The vendor documentation lists DevExpress export formats, Bold Reports designer and export capabilities, Telerik export formats, and Stimulsoft export formats. Do not treat “supports Excel export” as proof that the resulting workbook is useful: test merged cells, repeated headers, formulas, row counts, dates, numbers, images, and nested groups.
Which data sources and backend architectures are supported?
Server-side data access is the safer default: the React browser should call an authenticated application or report server, not connect directly to a production database with embedded credentials.
| Data or architecture requirement | What the dossier documents | Evaluation question |
|---|---|---|
| SQL Server and Azure SQL | Bold Reports lists both; DevExpress lists SQL data sources | Can tenant scoping and parameterized queries be enforced centrally? |
| PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB | Bold Reports lists these connectors | Are provider versions and deployment containers supported? |
| Oracle, OLEDB, ODBC | Bold Reports lists these options | Who manages drivers, credentials, pooling, and network access? |
| REST, Web API, OData | Bold Reports lists Web API and OData; JSON, XML, and CSV are also listed | Can arbitrary URLs and request parameters be restricted to prevent data leakage or SSRF? |
| Object, Excel, JSON, and MongoDB | DevExpress lists SQL, JSON, object, Excel, MongoDB, and other sources | Does the source work with the required server-side rendering and security model? |
| Java or Spring-oriented backend | Stimulsoft documents a Java server-side option | Does the selected Stimulsoft product family match the Java deployment? |
| Node.js-only backend | Do not assume a .NET product becomes Node-compatible because it has a React viewer | Confirm whether the engine is pure JavaScript, hosted, or dependent on .NET or Java |
Bold Reports lists SQL, Web API, OData, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, JSON, XML, CSV, Excel, Oracle, OLEDB, and ODBC data-source options. DevExpress documents SQL, JSON, object, Excel, MongoDB, and other data sources. Connector availability is not the same as a secure production architecture: connection secrets, authorization, query limits, and tenant filtering remain the application team’s responsibility.
How well do these tools fit SaaS and multi-tenant products?
Bold Reports is the clearest fit when a commercial SaaS product needs embedded reporting with tenant-aware storage, branding, identity, and distribution features. DevExpress, Telerik, and Stimulsoft can still be viable, but the buyer must verify how report storage, customer authoring, viewer rights, scheduled delivery, and tenant-specific connections are licensed and implemented.
| SaaS requirement | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Tenant-specific templates | Separate definitions, versions, branding, and data connections per tenant | Prevents one customer’s layout or data from appearing in another customer’s reports |
| Row-level security | Authorization enforced server-side for every report execution | React-only filtering is not a sufficient security boundary |
| White-labeling | Logo, theme, domain, email, and viewer chrome customization | Customer-facing reporting should look like part of the host product |
| Identity | SSO, roles, claims, session expiry, and export authorization | A downloaded file can contain more sensitive data than the viewer screen |
| Distribution | Scheduling, email delivery, sharing, and audit logs | Automated reports add operational and privacy requirements |
| Commercial licensing | Developer, viewer, server, instance, tenant, royalty, and customer-authoring terms | Internal and customer-facing deployment models have different total costs |
Bold Reports currently advertises multi-tenancy, white-labeling, row-level security, SSO, scheduling, sharing, version history, and embedding SDKs. The same pricing page advertises no per-user or per-developer fees, but the editions use custom quotes, so the statement should not be interpreted as unlimited deployment at no additional cost.
DevExpress states that a separate license is not required for customers to create and edit reports when the end-user designer is distributed as part of the customer’s software, subject to the applicable license agreement. Treat that as a product licensing statement to verify for the exact subscription and SaaS deployment, not as universal legal advice; consult the current DevExpress Reporting terms.
Which React reporting tool is best for each backend and deployment model?
React with ASP.NET Core
ASP.NET Core is the strongest common fit for DevExpress, Bold Reports, Telerik, and Stimulsoft’s .NET server-side options. DevExpress is the default recommendation when report fidelity, .NET tooling, and migration are central. Bold Reports becomes more attractive when SaaS tenancy, white-labeling, deployment flexibility, or RDL/RDLC reuse dominates.
React with Java or Spring Boot
Stimulsoft deserves the closest evaluation because its documentation explicitly describes a Java server-side option. Do not assume that a React package from a .NET-oriented vendor supplies a Java reporting engine; confirm the server product, APIs, deployment instructions, and licensing.

React with Node.js only
A pure Node.js application should not assume that a React viewer eliminates a .NET or Java dependency. Separate pure JavaScript or Node-compatible engines, browser viewers backed by a .NET or Java server, hosted reporting services, and client-side document libraries before comparing features.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →React in Next.js
Browser-dependent viewers commonly need client-only rendering. Check whether the package touches window or document during import, whether the component belongs in a client component, whether the vendor supplies a Next.js example, and whether export generation occurs on the server or in the browser. “React supported” alone does not prove server-side rendering compatibility.
Containers, Linux, and air-gapped environments
Deployment claims must identify where cross-platform support applies. Bold Reports lists Windows, Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes for its on-premises edition. Stimulsoft states that its server-side React component runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux; confirm the precise component, database drivers, fonts, and licensing for an air-gapped installation.
Detailed review: DevExpress Reporting
DevExpress Reporting is the best default choice for a serious .NET-backed React application. DevExpress supplies a React document viewer and an end-user report designer, with report parameters, expressions, data bindings, conditional formatting, master-detail reports, subreports, preview, printing, and export.
React integration and backend
The integration is not a standalone browser-only reporting engine. DevExpress says Angular, React, and Vue applications require a .NET or .NET Core backend. Report loading, data access, layout, and document generation therefore belong in the server-side architecture rather than in an untrusted browser.
Reports, migration, and exports
DevExpress documents PDF, DOCX, RTF, XLS/XLSX, TXT, MHT, CSV, HTML, and image exports including SVG. DevExpress also documents conversion tools for Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access reports, RDLC/SSRS reports, and ActiveReports. Migration utilities reduce manual work, but a proof of concept using the hardest existing report is still necessary because unsupported features and layout differences can remain.
Licensing and trade-offs
The standalone Reporting subscription was listed at $799.99 on the official pricing page viewed August 18, 2026. Broader DevExpress suites were listed at higher prices, and pricing, taxes, currency, renewals, support, and regional terms should be rechecked before purchase. Per-developer subscription pricing can be less attractive for a large team than a deployment-oriented quote.
Verdict: Choose DevExpress first when the product is .NET-centric, operational-report fidelity matters, existing report definitions may need migration, and developers or business users need governed report customization.
Detailed review: Bold Reports
Bold Reports is the strongest candidate for embedded SaaS reporting and flexible enterprise deployment. The product provides React viewer and designer functionality, RDL/RDLC support, broad connectors, scheduled distribution, white-labeling, multi-tenancy, and cloud, private-cloud, or on-premises options.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

React integration and report authoring
The React designer supports RDL/RDLC report creation, data sources, print preview, export, and saving reports to Bold Report Server or SSRS Report Server. That combination makes Bold Reports particularly relevant when customers or internal report specialists must design reports in the web application rather than only in an IDE.
Data, SaaS, and deployment
Bold Reports lists SQL Server, Azure SQL, Web API, OData, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, JSON, XML, CSV, Excel, Oracle, OLEDB, and ODBC among its data-source options. Bold Reports also advertises multi-tenancy, white-labeling, row-level security, SSO, scheduling, sharing, version history, and React embedding SDKs. On-premises deployment is listed for Windows, Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Licensing and trade-offs
The current public pricing page uses custom quotes for cloud, managed private cloud, and on-premises editions. The page advertises a free 30-day trial and no per-user or per-developer fees. “No per-user or per-developer fees” does not reveal the total cost: infrastructure, deployment, support, usage, security requirements, and enterprise terms can affect the quote.
Verdict: Choose Bold Reports when customer-facing embedding, tenant isolation, white-labeling, SSRS/RDL/RDLC reuse, private cloud, or air-gapped deployment outweighs the value of a transparent individual-developer price.
Detailed review: Telerik Reporting
Telerik Reporting is the best fit for teams already invested in Progress, Telerik, or Kendo ecosystems. Telerik’s React viewer is a wrapper around its HTML5 Report Viewer, and the product supports interactive navigation, runtime filtering, sorting, grouping, parameters, drill-down, drill-through, document maps, hyperlinks, printing, and numerous export formats.
Designers and Report Server
Telerik lists standalone desktop, web, and Visual Studio designers. A separate Telerik Report Server product adds report creation, storage, management, scheduling, and viewing, which can be useful for centralized administration but introduces another product and deployment cost.
Exports and pricing
Telerik documents Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF, MHTML, CSV, RTF, and image export, and advertises more than 15 export formats. On August 18, 2026, the Telerik purchase page listed Telerik Reporting at $499 per developer per year with Lite Support, $599 with Priority Support, and $999 with Ultimate Support. Telerik Report Server was listed at $1,099 per instance per year, $1,199, and $1,599 respectively. These are listed prices observed on that date, not permanent price guarantees.
Verdict: Choose Telerik when an established Progress/Telerik estate, multiple designer options, interactive reports, or centralized Report Server management is more important than avoiding separate developer and server subscriptions.
Detailed review: Stimulsoft Reports
Stimulsoft Reports is the strongest cross-platform breadth option among the four products. Stimulsoft provides React viewer and report components, a server-side .NET or Java engine, browser-based design, dashboards, PDF forms, data visualization, and extensive export coverage.
React integration and platforms
Stimulsoft documents React compatibility from React 16.8 and higher, installation through client and server packages including dotnet add package Stimulsoft.Reports.React, and server-side operation on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Server-side loading, rendering, calculation, and export can reduce browser workload, which is important for larger documents.
Designer, viewer, and exports
The browser-based Designer is intended for reports, dashboards, PDF forms, and data visualization. The React viewer documents navigation, search, zoom, and export. Listed formats include PDF, Excel, Word, HTML, CSV, XML, JSON, RTF, OpenDocument, text, and multiple image formats.
Licensing and trade-offs
Stimulsoft has multiple product families, including Reports.WEB, Reports.JS, dashboards, and forms. The official online store is the correct place to identify the exact price, but a generic article should not publish one price without first deciding which family and deployment model the React application needs. Broad export coverage also does not prove that every format preserves pixel-perfect layout.
Verdict: Choose Stimulsoft when .NET or Java support, browser-based design, dashboards and forms, and unusually broad export coverage are more important than having the simplest product and licensing structure.

How should you choose by scenario?
| Scenario | Recommended starting point | Why | Validate first |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASP.NET Core app with invoices and statements | DevExpress | Strong .NET tooling, operational reports, viewer, designer, and export support | PDF fonts, page breaks, subreports, and migration of the hardest template |

| Java or Spring Boot backend | Stimulsoft | Stimulsoft explicitly documents a Java server-side option | Exact product family, Java integration, deployment, and licensing |
| Air-gapped or self-hosted enterprise environment | Bold Reports or Stimulsoft | Both document deployment options relevant to controlled infrastructure | Offline licensing, fonts, drivers, container images, updates, and support |
| Only fixed PDF templates are needed | A focused document-generation library may be enough | A full reporting platform could add unnecessary designer and server complexity | Whether users need parameters, preview, exports, scheduling, or template editing later |
| Node.js-only application | Do not choose from this shortlist without architecture validation | A React viewer may still require a .NET or Java engine | Pure Node support, serverless behavior, export generation, and vendor support |
What should a React reporting proof of concept test?
A proof of concept should use the application’s most difficult real report, not a vendor’s simple sales demo. The proof of concept should evaluate both technical behavior and the commercial deployment model.
- Backend and rendering: Load a report through the intended .NET, Java, or other server architecture and confirm that the browser never receives database credentials.
- Authentication: Test login, token expiry, refresh, CORS, CSRF protection, export requests, and direct access to report-definition URLs.
- Tenant isolation: Attempt to open another tenant’s report, change tenant parameters, reuse an export URL, and access a report after role removal.
- Report features: Test parameters, filtering, sorting, grouping, drill-down, drill-through, bookmarks, document maps, subreports, images, and conditional formatting.
- Output: Compare viewer, PDF, Excel, Word, CSV, HTML, and image output where each format matters. Check page breaks, repeated headers, merged cells, formulas, fonts, RTL text, dates, numbers, and charts.
- Scale: Test the largest expected date range and row count. Measure database time, render time, export time, memory, proxy timeouts, and browser behavior.
- Authoring: Have a real report author create or modify a report, save a version, restore an earlier version, and work with only the approved data sources.
- Operations: Test scheduling, email delivery, retries, audit logging, backups, upgrades, container deployment, and offline or private-cloud operation if required.
- Framework behavior: For Next.js, test client-only rendering, hydration, route transitions, browser refresh, and deployment behind the actual reverse proxy.
- Commercial terms: Confirm developer, viewer, server, instance, tenant, support, renewal, white-label, and customer-facing SaaS rights in writing.
What security problems do embedded reporting systems create?
Embedded reporting expands the application’s data boundary because users can request filtered documents and download files. The report server must enforce tenant and role authorization for every execution; React-side hiding of buttons or filters is not a security control.
- Use curated server-side data sources instead of unrestricted user-written SQL.
- Validate and allowlist report parameters, especially dates, tenant identifiers, sort fields, URLs, and expressions.
- Resolve database connections on the server and keep credentials out of report definitions and browser code.
- Apply row-level security during query execution, not after all tenant data has been loaded.
- Protect generated files, limit export-link lifetime, and log report viewing and downloads where sensitive data is involved.
- Restrict designer permissions and review custom expressions, Web API sources, external images, and subreport references.
- Consider formula injection when untrusted values are exported into Excel.
- Set maximum date ranges, query timeouts, export limits, and asynchronous processing for expensive reports.
What are the common React reporting failure modes?
Most integration failures are architectural rather than visual: browser-only viewers are imported during server-side rendering, authentication headers are lost during export, report servers reject cross-origin requests, or a report definition is stored without tenant scope.
- Render browser-dependent viewers only in a client-side component and follow the selected vendor’s Next.js guidance.
- Confirm the network sequence for initialization, report loading, rendering, and export in browser developer tools.
- Test a static report before adding live database or Web API data.
- Check authentication and CORS independently, then test expired sessions and refresh behavior.
- Run server-side export independently from the viewer to separate rendering problems from UI problems.
- Apply tenant authorization at the report-server boundary and verify report storage paths, IDs, and versions are tenant-aware.
- For large data sets, move filtering, paging, aggregation, and sorting toward the database or governed server-side data layer.
- Use asynchronous generation, caching where safe, and logged duration limits for long-running documents.
What do competing articles often get wrong?
A feature checklist can make a data grid, chart library, PDF generator, dashboard platform, and full reporting engine look interchangeable. A useful comparison instead asks whether the product supplies report definitions, data binding, pagination or document rendering, a viewer, export, authoring, security, and a supported backend architecture.
Export-format lists also need qualification. A tool can technically export Excel while producing merged cells that are difficult to analyze, or export PDF while changing fonts and page breaks. Migration labels such as “SSRS compatible” generally mean support for RDL/RDLC or a migration path, not guaranteed identical behavior for every report.
Finally, vendor pages describe capabilities rather than independent benchmarks. No product in this comparison should be called faster, easier, more accessible, or more reliable without a controlled test using equivalent reports, data, infrastructure, browsers, and export formats.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can React reporting tools work without a .NET backend?
Some can, but React support does not by itself mean browser-only or Node.js support. DevExpress documents a .NET or .NET Core backend for its React reporting integration, while Stimulsoft documents server-side .NET and Java options; confirm the exact backend requirements for every product and package.
Which React reporting tool is best for SSRS or RDLC reports?
Bold Reports is a strong starting point because it documents RDL and RDLC support and saving reports to Bold Report Server or SSRS Report Server. DevExpress is also worth testing because it documents migration utilities for RDLC/SSRS and other reporting formats, but neither claim guarantees perfect conversion of every report.
Are React chart libraries complete reporting tools?
React chart libraries are not automatically complete reporting tools. A full reporting platform normally adds report definitions, data binding, pagination, parameters, a viewer, printing, exports, designer workflows, scheduling, and authorization.
Which React reporting tool is best for a multi-tenant SaaS?
Bold Reports is the strongest initial candidate because its current product materials advertise multi-tenancy, white-labeling, row-level security, SSO, scheduling, sharing, version history, and React embedding SDKs. Buyers still need to confirm quote terms, tenant isolation, customer-authoring rights, and deployment costs.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Start with DevExpress for a .NET-centric React application, Bold Reports for embedded multi-tenant SaaS or SSRS-oriented deployments, Telerik for established Progress/Telerik environments, and Stimulsoft for .NET or Java teams prioritizing cross-platform breadth and extensive exports. Before signing, test the hardest real report, the required export formats, tenant security, large-data behavior, framework integration, and the exact commercial license.
