To make a private server for The Mimic, open the experience’s live Roblox page, use Servers and select Create Private Server—but only if CTStudio has enabled Roblox’s private-server feature. After creating it, open the server’s three-dot menu and choose Configure to manage members, friends-list access, links and restrictions. If a friend sees a permission error, check both the owner’s server settings and the friend’s Roblox privacy or parental-control settings. The live Servers section is also the only reliable place to confirm whether private servers are currently available and what they cost.

What you need before creating a The Mimic private server

The Mimic is a Roblox experience by CTStudio built around four stories inspired by Japanese history and urban legends. Its Roblox description warns about flashing lights, loud noises and jumpscares. A private server is a Roblox platform feature that limits who can join; it is not documented as a separate, in-game The Mimic mode.

  • A Roblox account that can access the live The Mimic experience page.
  • The ability to buy a private server if Roblox displays a Robux charge. Roblox lets the experience creator set the price.
  • The usernames, Roblox friend relationships or invitation link you intend to use for access.
  • For children’s accounts, permission settings that allow private-server invitations and joins.

Roblox’s current support guidance says the Private Servers section appears only when the experience creator has turned the feature on. The accessible The Mimic page shows a Servers area but does not expose a current price or conclusively confirm availability at every moment, so check the live page rather than relying on an old video or price list.

How do I make a private server in The Mimic?

Creation starts on the experience page, not inside a game session. If the private-server controls are enabled, Roblox presents the purchase and setup flow in the Servers section.

  1. Open the live Roblox page for The Mimic. Use the current experience listing, then scroll below the main game information to Servers.
  2. Find the Private Servers area. Roblox says this section is shown only when the creator has enabled private servers. If it is missing, there is no supported creation button to use.
  3. Select Create Private Server. Roblox opens a form for the server name and the applicable subscription terms.
  4. Enter a name and review the agreement. Read the price and renewal language shown in the Roblox dialog. The creator, not Roblox’s general platform price list, determines the experience-specific Robux charge.
  5. Select Buy Now if Roblox presents a paid server. The charge can consist of an initial payment and a recurring monthly payment. Do not assume that a server is free or that a price seen elsewhere still applies.
  6. Configure the server. You can adjust access immediately after purchase or return to the Servers section later and open the server’s management controls.

If you never see Private Servers or Create Private Server, do not try to create a replacement through an in-game menu or an unofficial link. Roblox’s documented requirement is that the experience creator must enable the feature. Availability can change, so check the live Servers area again later if the feature is temporarily disabled.

How do I change who can join my The Mimic private server?

Use the server’s configuration page. Roblox puts these controls behind the three-dot menu on your private-server row.

  1. Return to The Mimic’s Roblox experience page and scroll to Servers.
  2. Locate your private server in the list.
  3. Select the three-dot menu at the far right of that server row.
  4. Choose Configure.
  5. Use the configuration options shown for your server. Roblox documents controls for renaming the server, adding individual users, allowing your friends list, creating a server link, applying access restrictions and managing cancellation.

Roblox allows up to 50 individual users to be added to a private server. That limit applies to named accounts in the server’s member controls; it is not a claim about the total player capacity of The Mimic or about how many people a generated link can reach under every setting.

Owner-managed member list

Add a player’s Roblox username in the server’s member controls when you want a precise invitation list. This is the clearest option for a regular group because access is tied to specific accounts rather than to everyone on your friends list. Ask each player for the exact account name shown on their Roblox profile, not a display name copied from chat. If several accounts have similar names, confirm the profile before saving the entry.

Friends Allowed

Enabling the friends-list option lets Roblox friends join without entering every username individually. It is convenient for a changing group, but it is broader than a hand-picked list: anyone who qualifies as your Roblox friend may be allowed to join while the setting remains enabled. If you later want a smaller group, turn this option off and review the individual member list rather than assuming the list alone narrows access.

Server link

A server link gives invited players a direct route to the private server. Treat it as an invitation rather than a substitute for account permissions. The recipient may still be blocked by their own privacy, age or parental-control settings, and the owner’s restrictions still apply. Share the link only with the people you intend to invite; if it has been posted publicly, revisit the configuration page and use a narrower access method.

Access restrictions

Use the restriction controls when you need to tighten access after sharing a link or enabling friends. Review the member list and the friends option together; leaving one permissive setting enabled can undermine the narrower rule you intended to use. Configuration changes should be checked on the server page after saving so you know which option is currently active.

Which access method should I use?

The right setting depends on whether you value a short, controlled list or quick access for an established friend group.

Approach What it controls Useful when Important limitation
Individual members Named Roblox accounts, up to 50 users You want an exact guest list Every additional player must be added with the correct username
Friends Allowed Eligible accounts on the owner’s Roblox friends list Your group already consists of Roblox friends Access is broader than a manually selected list
Server link People who receive the invitation link, subject to Roblox permissions You need a convenient invitation method A link does not override privacy, age or parental restrictions
Access restrictions Additional limits applied from the server configuration page You need to tighten or revise access It does not replace checking the member list and account settings

For a fixed team, start with individual members and add only the accounts that need access. For a group made entirely of Roblox friends, Friends Allowed reduces maintenance, but remember that the group can expand whenever you accept a new friend. A link is fastest for invitations, yet it is easiest to share accidentally. You can combine the methods, but troubleshoot them one at a time so it is clear which permission is allowing or denying a join.

Why can’t my friend join my The Mimic private server?

Roblox identifies permission settings as a common cause of Error Code 524. The owner’s server configuration and the invited player’s account settings are separate layers, so both sides must be checked.

1. Check the owner’s server settings

  • Open Servers on the The Mimic experience page.
  • Use the server row’s three-dot menu and select Configure.
  • Confirm that the friend’s exact Roblox username appears in the member list, or enable Friends Allowed if that is the intended access method.
  • If you used a link, generate or copy the link again from the configuration page and send the current one.
  • Review restrictions that might have been enabled after the invitation was sent.

A username that looks similar is not enough. Roblox membership is account-specific, so check spelling, capitalization and the actual profile before changing other settings. If the friend changed accounts, was removed from the list or is no longer an eligible friend, an older invitation may no longer work as expected.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Check the invited player’s privacy setting

The invited player should sign in to Roblox and open:

Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Visibility & private servers > Private servers

They should choose the option that permits the private-server invitation or join attempt. If the account is managed by a parent or guardian, the available choice may be limited by parental controls. The invitee, rather than the server owner, must change this account-level setting.

3. Account for under-13 defaults

Roblox documents a stricter default for users under 13: they can join private servers created by their friends. A child account may therefore reject an invitation from an account that is not recognized as a friend, even when the server owner has added the username. Parental settings can be stricter still and may limit both the private servers the child can join and who can join the child’s server.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When helping a child, check the account’s age-related defaults and the parent or guardian’s controls before repeatedly changing the server list. Adding the child as a member does not override those safeguards.

4. Rule out a temporary service or network problem

If the owner and invitee settings are correct, the game or server may be temporarily unavailable. Roblox recommends waiting and trying again, restarting the Roblox app and device, and checking the network connection when the error continues. Try the invitation again after confirming that the friend is signed into the intended account.

A successful permission change is not proof that a currently running session will update instantly. Official guidance explains who may join and how to configure access, but it does not promise an immediate kick or an instant refresh for someone already inside a live session.

Are server settings and Roblox account privacy the same thing?

No. The server owner decides which accounts the private server will accept, while each invited account’s privacy and parental controls decide whether that account may join private servers at all.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For example, adding a username to The Mimic’s member list cannot override an invitee’s account-level restriction. Conversely, an invitee who allows private-server invitations can still be refused if the owner has not added them, has disabled friends access or has applied a server restriction.

When troubleshooting, check the two layers separately: first the server’s Configure page, then the invitee’s Roblox privacy path. This avoids repeatedly changing the same setting on only one side. It also explains why two friends can receive the same link but get different results: their account settings may not match.

How much does a The Mimic private server cost?

There is no fixed amount that can be stated safely from the accessible The Mimic page. Roblox says the experience creator sets the Robux price, and a private server may have an initial charge followed by a recurring monthly charge. The live purchase dialog in the Servers section is the authoritative price for your account and region at the time you create the server.

Before selecting Buy Now, check whether Roblox shows a one-time amount, a monthly renewal amount or both. Do not treat an old screenshot, forum post or another experience’s price as The Mimic’s current rate. If no private-server purchase control appears, the question is availability rather than price: the creator must enable the feature before Roblox can show the purchase flow.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Consider renewal before buying for a short event. A server can remain active through a paid period even after you decide not to continue, while an account without enough Robux at renewal causes the server to expire instead of renewing.

How do I stop renewal?

Open the private server’s three-dot menu in the Servers section and select Cancel, or open Configure and change the active subscription status using the cancellation control shown there.

Roblox says access continues through the period that has already been paid for. If the account does not have enough Robux when a renewal is due, the server expires instead of renewing. Check the status shown on the configuration page so you know whether cancellation has been scheduled or the subscription is still active. Cancellation stops the next renewal; it is not a promise that access ends immediately.

What a The Mimic private server does—and does not—guarantee

  • It limits entry through Roblox’s server permissions. The owner can manage named members, friends-list access, links and restrictions.
  • It does not create a separate game mode. The documented feature is Roblox’s standard private-server system.
  • It does not bypass account controls. Privacy, age and parental settings can still block an invited player.
  • It does not promise an instant removal. Official guidance explains configuration and future joins, but does not guarantee that changing a setting immediately ejects someone from a live session.
  • It does not have a guaranteed permanent price. Availability and cost are live experience-level settings controlled by the creator.

How to set up access with the fewest problems

  1. Create the server from the live Servers section and read the current billing terms.
  2. Choose one primary access method: a named member list for tight control, or Friends Allowed for a known Roblox friend group.
  3. Add users with their exact Roblox usernames before sending a link.
  4. Ask invitees—especially children or managed accounts—to review Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Visibility & private servers > Private servers.
  5. Test the invitation while the server is available, then keep the configuration page handy for later changes.
  6. If a player receives Error 524, verify owner settings and invitee settings independently before restarting the app or network troubleshooting.

Keep a short record of which method you chose. If a friend later loses access, you can tell whether to check the member list, the friends option, the link or the account-level privacy setting first. This is especially useful when several people share devices or when a child uses a managed account.

How we selected these instructions

This guide follows Roblox’s documented private-server workflow and account-control guidance, while treating The Mimic’s current Servers section as the source of truth for availability and price. It separates server-owner controls from invitee privacy and parental controls because Roblox documents them as different permission layers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I create a The Mimic private server if the Servers tab has no private-server option?

No supported creation path is documented when Roblox does not show the Private Servers section or Create Private Server button. The feature must first be enabled by the experience creator, so check the live page again rather than using an unofficial workaround.

Does a server link bypass Roblox age restrictions?

No. A link only points an account to the server; it does not override the recipient’s privacy, age or parental-control rules. Under-13 defaults and family settings can still prevent the join.

Will changing the member list remove someone already playing?

Roblox’s public guidance documents who may join and how to configure access, but it does not promise an immediate kick from an active session. Treat a configuration change as controlling subsequent access and verify the live session separately.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where can I verify whether my private server is still renewing?

Open the server’s three-dot menu in the Servers section and choose Configure. The subscription status and cancellation controls shown there indicate whether the server remains active for the paid period or is set to stop renewing.

Is the 50-user figure the maximum number of players in The Mimic?

No. Roblox documents up to 50 individual users in the private-server member controls. That figure is about named accounts you can add, not a confirmed gameplay capacity for The Mimic or a guaranteed limit for every invitation link.

Why can one friend join while another gets Error 524?

The two accounts may have different privacy, age or parental-control settings. Confirm the server owner’s member or Friends Allowed setting, then have the blocked player check Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Visibility & private servers > Private servers.

Is a The Mimic private server free?

The live Servers section is the authority. Roblox allows the experience creator to set the price, and the charge may include an initial payment and recurring monthly renewal. Do not rely on an old price posted elsewhere.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What should I do if the server link was shared too widely?

Open the server’s three-dot menu, choose Configure, review the member list and Friends Allowed setting, and apply the available access restrictions. A link does not override account permissions, but narrowing the server settings reduces unintended future joins.

The Bottom Line

Use Roblox’s live Servers section to create or price a The Mimic private server, then use the server’s three-dot menu and Configure to manage members, friends, links, restrictions and renewal. If a friend cannot join, check the server owner’s settings and the invitee’s Roblox privacy or parental controls separately.
