For one compact clock-and-weather widget, choose Weather & Clock Widget. For the strongest weather-first and privacy-oriented option, choose Weawow. If you want a no-download option, start with Pixel At a Glance or your phone maker’s stock widget. KWGT is the best choice for deep customization, while Chronus is the better all-in-one suite for weather, calendar, tasks, news, and stocks.

These are category recommendations, not a claim that one app has the most accurate forecast everywhere. Forecast quality depends on your location, the provider supplying the data, the forecast horizon, and whether a provider or feature is restricted to a paid tier. The recommendations and Play Store details below were checked against the supplied listings on August 9, 2026.

Flip-clock design Sense Flip Clock & Weather Decorative 4×1, 4×2, and 4×3 flip-clock layouts with weather and forecasts.
Plain clock and alarms Google Clock A reliable first-party clock, alarm, timer, stopwatch, and world-clock app—not a complete weather-widget solution.

First, try the widget already on your phone

A built-in widget is usually the best starting point. It is already integrated with the launcher, follows the phone’s theme, normally requires no extra background service, and is less likely to disappear after an app update. Its limitations are fewer layouts, less provider choice, and less detailed weather information.

Pixel and Google-style Android: At a Glance

Google’s At a Glance widget can show weather, calendar events, tasks, and other contextual information. Google says the full At a Glance experience is available on Pixel devices running Android 12 or later, although features vary by country and language.

#1 Best Overall
Flip clock & floating widget
  • Full-screen flip clock with smooth animation.
  • Floating clock widget accessible over any app.
  • Multiple elegant clock designs to choose from.
  • Ideal for study, focus, time planning, and reminders.
  • Eye-catching display visible from all angles.
  1. Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Scroll to Google.
  4. Touch and hold At a Glance.
  5. Drag it onto the Home screen.

See Google’s At a Glance support page for the current feature list. At a Glance is contextual rather than a configurable forecast dashboard. It may not be enough if you want hourly forecasts, radar, multiple saved locations, detailed weather fields, or a large decorative clock.

Samsung Galaxy: stock widgets and stacks

Galaxy phones provide stock weather and information widgets, and supported models can add widgets to the Lock screen. Samsung also supports widget stacks. Its documentation says automatic stack rotation is unavailable on One UI 6.1.1 or later, so the exact behavior depends on the Galaxy model and software version.

To add a Home-screen widget on a recent Galaxy phone:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Touch and hold the Home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Select the desired widget.
  4. Choose a variation.
  5. Tap Add.
  6. Resize it by dragging the handles if the widget supports resizing.
  7. Touch and hold the widget, then tap Settings for widget-specific controls.

Samsung’s widget guide covers current Galaxy behavior. Try the stock widget first; install a third-party option when you need a different layout, more forecast detail, another provider, stronger privacy characteristics, or substantially more customization.

Other Android phones

Motorola, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and other manufacturers also supply stock clock and weather widgets, but names, layouts, and availability vary by model, launcher, region, and software version. The same general rule applies: use the OEM widget for minimum maintenance, and use a third-party app when its extra capabilities solve a specific problem.

What kind of widget do you actually need?

Many comparison lists mix unrelated apps together. These categories solve different jobs:

  • Clock widget: Shows time and date, and may provide alarm, stopwatch, timer, or world-clock shortcuts.
  • Weather widget: Shows current conditions, temperature, forecasts, radar, precipitation, air quality, or alerts.
  • Clock-weather widget: Combines time and weather in one narrow horizontal, square, or tall panel.
  • Widget suite: Supplies several coordinated widgets, often covering clock, weather, calendar, tasks, news, and stocks.
  • Widget builder: A tool such as KWGT that lets you create the design instead of selecting one fixed widget.
  • OEM widget: A widget supplied by Google, Samsung, or another phone manufacturer.

A clock-only app should not outrank a weather system for radar, and a full weather app should not automatically win when the reader only wants a readable clock.

Best combined clock-and-weather widgets

1. Weather & Clock Widget — best traditional combined widget

Weather & Clock Widget is the most direct answer for someone asking for one conventional widget that displays both time and weather. Its current Play listing describes widgets with the time, date, current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts, moon phase, calendar events, next alarm, and battery level.

It also supports automatic or manual location selection, multiple locations, multiple weather providers, themes, graphs, unit changes, and refresh intervals ranging from 15 minutes to 12 hours. That gives it a useful balance: much more control than an OEM widget without the design complexity of KWGT.

Best for: A configurable clock-and-weather strip or dashboard.

Costs and limitations: The free version contains ads. The listing shows an optional Plus version at $7.99 in the United States at the time checked; Play prices vary by country, tax, promotion, and account. The listing reports 50M+ downloads, a 4.2-star rating, about 2.49 million displayed reviews, and an update on July 25, 2026.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its Play Data safety section says that no data is shared and no data is collected, while also stating that data is not encrypted and cannot be deleted. Those are developer-declared Play disclosures, not an independent privacy audit. The listing’s marketing language about accuracy should not be treated as location-specific comparative testing.

Verdict: The best general recommendation when the reader specifically wants one combined clock-and-weather widget and accepts ads or the Plus purchase.

2. Digital Clock & Weather Widget — best simple digital design

Digital Clock & Weather Widget is more clock-focused than the previous option. It offers four resizable formats—2×2, 4×3, 4×1, and 2×3—along with 18 fonts, custom time and date colors, adjustable sizes and formats, weather, forecasts, severe-weather alerts, and air-quality information.

Its tap actions can open an alarm app, calendar, weather app, or another selected app. Optional clickable icons can launch up to six applications, making the widget useful as a small shortcut panel as well as a clock.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best for: Readers who want a recognizable digital clock and only need weather as a secondary element.

Costs and limitations: It contains ads and in-app purchases and is less suitable for radar, provider comparison, or detailed weather analysis. The Play listing reports 10M+ downloads and a 3.9-star rating. It specifically warns that a Problem loading widget message after an update may require restarting the device.

Verdict: The clearest clock-first recommendation in this list.

3. Sense Flip Clock & Weather — best flip-clock aesthetic

Sense Flip Clock & Weather recreates the classic split-flap or HTC/Sense-style clock. Its widgets come in 4×1, 4×2, and 4×3 sizes and can show time, date, current weather, and daily forecasts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It supports custom skins, weather icons, backgrounds, forecasts for up to ten locations, hourly forecasts for the next 12 hours, seven-day daily forecasts, and weather alerts. Premium features include radar, air-quality forecasts, and hurricane-tracker features.

Best for: Anyone choosing appearance first and specifically wanting a flip clock.

Raynic Date Clock, Digital Clock with 12 Themes, 20 Alarms, 20 Reminders, Semi-Automatic Dimming, 12/24 Hours, Auto DST Clock for Seniors Desktop, Office, Students (Black, 7 Inches)
  • Multifunctional: This product combines the functionality of a clock and a calendar, providing both time-keeping and date tracking in one compact device
  • Clear Display: The large, easy-to-read display ensures you can quickly glance and see the current time and date with ease
  • Convenient Design: With its sleek and modern aesthetic, this calendar clock can seamlessly blend into any home or office decor
  • Easy Use: Simple controls allow for effortless setting and adjustment of the time and date as needed
  • Versatile Placement: Whether placed on a desk, shelf, or mounted on a wall, this calendar clock offers versatile placement options to suit your needs

Costs and limitations: It contains ads and in-app purchases. The listing reports 10M+ downloads, a 4.2-star rating, and an update on June 25, 2026. It is decorative rather than information-dense, and its visual style may look dated beside Material You. Some user reviews report concerns about location requirements, pricing, and automatic updating; those are reported individual experiences, not controlled evidence of universal behavior.

Verdict: The best niche design choice, not the best all-purpose weather recommendation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Weather Today — clean modern alternative

Weather Today combines current, hourly, daily, and minutely precipitation forecasts with customizable Android home-screen widgets. It also offers forecasts up to eight days, radar layers for precipitation, clouds, wind, and temperature, air quality, pollen, alerts, charts, moon phases, and sunrise and sunset information.

Its Material You colors, dark mode, and tablet optimization make it a good fit for readers who want a modern system-integrated appearance without the larger configuration surface of Weawow or KWGT. Listed providers include OpenWeatherMap, Apple Weather, and Open-Meteo.

Best for: A cleaner weather-first design with modern Android styling.

Costs and limitations: The supplied listing summary identifies only a small number of providers, so it is less flexible than Weawow or Today Weather. The listing reports roughly 4.1 stars and about 1,250 reviews, a much smaller public review base than the largest established apps. One current Play review reports data-retrieval problems on Android 17 Beta; treat that as a user report rather than a universal compatibility finding.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Overdrop — best visual variety and animation

Overdrop is aimed at readers who want a widget to be part of the phone’s visual design. Its listing advertises more than 70 widgets, 12 animated themes, radar and storm tracking, hourly and seven-day forecasts, multiple locations, severe-weather alerts, air quality, and UV information.

Its listed providers include OpenWeatherMap, Weatherbit, and Foreca. Premium options cover themes, providers, icon packs, refresh rates, and ad removal.

Best for: Ready-made designs, animation, and visual polish.

Costs and limitations: It contains ads and in-app purchases. The Play Data safety section says it may share device or other IDs with third parties. User reviews report possible precipitation inaccuracies, excessive notifications, and loading problems; these should be considered possible failure modes, not product-wide test results. A beautiful widget does not prove that its forecast is more accurate.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To add an Overdrop widget, its developer recommends long-pressing an empty Home-screen area, selecting Widgets, finding Overdrop, choosing a grid size, dragging it onto the Home screen, and selecting a style. The developer’s FAQ also recommends checking battery optimization and background data when updates fail.

Best weather-first widgets

Weawow — best weather widget and privacy-oriented choice

Weawow is primarily a weather app, but its widget range makes it the strongest weather-first recommendation. It offers 14 widget styles, including current-weather, hourly, daily, graph, and clock layouts.

Its current Play listing says the app has no ads and no tracking. It lists multiple weather providers, including NWS/NOAA, DWD, Meteo France, AEMET, MET Norway, Apple Weather, Xweather, Weatherbit, World Weather Online, and OpenWeather. AccuWeather and Foreca are available through an optional one-time donation. Depending on provider and location, the app can compare forecasts, show hourly and up-to-14-day daily forecasts, display radar and weather maps, issue severe-weather alerts, and report air quality, pollen, sunrise and sunset, golden hour, blue hour, and moon phase.

Best for: Privacy-conscious users, weather enthusiasts, photographers, travelers, and anyone who wants to compare providers.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Costs and limitations: The listing reports 10M+ downloads, a 4.9-star rating, and an update on May 31, 2026. Provider availability varies by location, and the large number of settings can be unnecessary if you only want the temperature and time. The no-ads, no-tracking, no-data-sharing, and no-data-collection statements are the developer’s current Play disclosures, not an independent audit.

Verdict: The best weather widget overall, but not the deepest clock-customization tool.

Today Weather: Data by NOAA/NWS — best provider and alert flexibility

Today Weather is a strong alternative for users who care about the source behind the forecast. Its listing includes global providers such as Apple WeatherKit, AccuWeather, Weatherbit, OpenWeatherMap, Foreca, Here, Open-Meteo, Visual Crossing, and GFS.

It also lists country-specific sources such as Weather.gov/NWS in the United States, the UK Met Office, ECMWF, Environment and Climate Change Canada, DWD, AEMET, Meteo France, Australia’s BOM, SMHI, and DMI. Depending on region and plan, the app provides customizable widgets, radar, rain and snow alarms, severe-weather warnings, air quality, UV, pollen, wind, visibility, dew point, pressure, and clock-weather and chart layouts. It also supports a Wear OS weather tile and complication.

Best for: Readers who want source choice, radar, official or national weather services, and alerts.

Costs and limitations: It contains ads and in-app purchases. Provider access varies by country and plan. The listing reports 1M+ downloads, a 4.6-star rating, Editors’ Choice status, and an update on June 3, 2026. Its marketing claims about being highly accurate should not be repeated as independently verified fact.

Best clock-first, suite, and custom widgets

Google Clock — best plain clock

Google Clock is the sensible choice when weather is not required. It provides alarms, timers, a stopwatch, world clock, bedtime scheduling, sleep sounds, upcoming events, and Wear OS alarm and timer integration.

Google’s support documentation says the app works on Android 4.4 and later. The current listing reports 1B+ downloads, an update on June 25, 2026, and Google’s Material 3 Expressive design. Third-party reporting has documented Clock widget variations including World, Analog, Digital, Stacked, and Stopwatch widgets. Weather integration is not equivalent across non-Pixel devices, so do not treat Google Clock as a complete clock-and-weather solution.

Best for: A dependable clock, alarm, timer, stopwatch, or world-clock shortcut with first-party Android integration.

Verdict: Best plain clock, not best weather widget.

Chronus Information Widgets — best all-in-one information suite

Chronus combines clock and clock-weather widgets with calendar and agenda views, weather, news and RSS, tasks, stocks, DashClock extensions, and backup and restore. It supports Material You dynamic colors on Android 12 and later.

The listing names 12 weather providers: OpenWeatherMap, AccuWeather, Met Norway, The Weather Company, Weatherbit, WeatherAPI, Visual Crossing, Tomorrow.io, WeatherStack, Pirate Weather, Open-Meteo, and MeasureSpace. The Pro version is described as a one-time in-app purchase and adds extra widgets, additional providers, custom clock fonts, more task providers, more layout controls, custom tap actions, stock alerts, and other features. Check the live listing for the current price rather than relying on an old review.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Chronus says native Lock-screen widgets are supported on Android 16 and later. On Android 5 through Android 15, it says a third-party Lock-screen app is required for that function.

Best for: Productivity-oriented users who want weather next to a calendar, task list, news feed, or stocks.

Costs and limitations: The listing reports 1M+ downloads, approximately 3.9 stars, and an update on July 18, 2026. It is denser and potentially more complex than a dedicated weather widget, and some provider and layout features differ between free and Pro.

Verdict: The best suite, but not the best minimalist widget.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

KWGT Kustom Widget Maker — best deep customization

KWGT is not one finished widget. It is a visual widget-building system. You can create digital, analog, world-clock, astronomy, weather, calendar, alarm, battery, system-monitoring, and music widgets, or install a preset made by someone else.

Its editor supports text, shapes, images, layers, gradients, filters, blur, saturation, variables, conditions, and touch actions. It can use multiple weather providers, integrate with Tasker, and display dynamic data from HTTP, RSS, XML, and XPath sources. The listing also describes Health Connect integration, with health data processed locally according to the listing.

The free app contains ads and in-app purchases. KWGT Pro is a separate paid key; the United States Play listing showed $6.99 when checked. Many third-party widget packs require Pro.

Best for: Enthusiasts who want exact control over typography, spacing, colors, data fields, sizing, and interactions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Costs and limitations: It has the steepest learning curve here. Presets may need manual scaling for a particular launcher or grid, and an install-and-forget experience is not its strength. Its Play Data safety listing says it may share device IDs and app activity for analytics and may collect personal information, app activity, and other data. See the KWGT Data safety section for the current developer declaration.

Verdict: The best customization tool, not the easiest recommendation for casual users.

How to compare a clock or weather widget

Use these criteria instead of choosing solely by star rating or screenshots:

  1. Readability: Can you read the time and temperature instantly in both bright and dark conditions?
  2. Information density: Does it show only current temperature, or also feels-like temperature, high and low, hourly forecast, precipitation probability, wind, UV, air quality, radar, and alerts?
  3. Layout: Does it work as a narrow strip, square panel, or large tablet widget? Are the minimum and maximum sizes useful on your launcher?
  4. Customization: Can you change font, icon, color, transparency, background, units, data fields, location, and tap actions?
  5. Provider choice: Are weather providers named, changeable, available in your country, and free or paid?
  6. Update behavior: Can you set a refresh interval? Does it require background data, location access, or exemption from battery restrictions?
  7. Privacy and advertising: Are there ads, tracking disclosures, location collection, device identifiers, or account requirements?
  8. Compatibility: Does it behave correctly with Pixel Launcher, One UI Home, third-party launchers, tablets, foldables, and your Android version?

Weather data and forecast accuracy are separate from widget quality

Two attractive widgets can show different temperatures because they use different providers, weather stations, update schedules, or forecast models. A provider that performs well in one city may be less useful in another because station coverage, radar, nowcasting, and national warning integrations differ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Provider availability can also be limited by geography, subscription tier, or donation. A 10-day forecast is not automatically more reliable than a shorter forecast, and radar or precipitation nowcasting should be judged separately from daily temperature predictions.

For serious or severe-weather decisions, compare the app with the trusted local or national meteorological service. Do not select a widget because an app listing or review calls it the most accurate unless there is independent, location-specific testing behind that claim.

Privacy, advertising, and payment differences

There are three separate things to check: the developer’s privacy policy, the Google Play Data safety declaration, and independent verification. A Play disclosure is useful but is not an independent privacy audit. The declarations below can change, so check the live listing before installing.

App Ads and payment model Current Play disclosure or relevant note
Weawow Developer says no ads; optional one-time donation can unlock additional providers. Listing says no tracking, no data shared, and no data collected. Attribute these claims to the developer.
Weather & Clock Widget Free version contains ads; optional Plus version listed at $7.99 US when checked. Listing says no data shared and no data collected, but also says data is not encrypted and cannot be deleted.
Digital Clock & Weather Widget Ads and in-app purchases. Review the live Play Data safety section for the current declaration.
Chronus Free version contains ads; Pro is described as a one-time purchase. Listing says no data shared and no data collected, while also stating that data is not encrypted and users can request deletion.
KWGT Free app contains ads and in-app purchases; Pro is a separate paid key, listed at $6.99 US when checked. Data safety listing says it may share device IDs and app activity and may collect personal information, app activity, and other data.
Overdrop Ads and in-app purchases; premium options include themes, providers, refresh rates, and ad removal. Listing says it may share device or other IDs with third parties.
Today Weather Ads and in-app purchases. Check the live listing for current data-safety details.
Weather Today Check the live Play listing for the current model. Provider access and privacy details may change with app updates.
Sense Flip Clock & Weather Ads and in-app purchases; some weather and visual features are premium. Check the live Play listing for current data-safety details.

Location access is usually needed for local weather, but the exact behavior differs. Where an app supports it, manually selecting a city can reduce dependence on continuous location access. Do not assume that every app works without an account or location permission; check its current permission prompts and listing.

How to add and resize any Android widget

Google’s general Android process is:

  1. Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Find the app containing the widget.
  4. Tap the app to view its available widgets.
  5. Touch and hold the desired widget.
  6. Drag it to the Home screen.
  7. To resize it, touch and hold it, release, and drag the handles if an outline appears.

See Google’s Android widget instructions. The exact configuration screen is app-specific. Common controls include location, Celsius or Fahrenheit, 12- or 24-hour time, transparency, font, color, background, forecast range, refresh interval, tap actions, provider, and displayed data fields.

Sizes such as 2×2 and 4×1 are launcher grid units, not physical measurements. The same widget can look different on Pixel Launcher, One UI Home, Nova Launcher, Microsoft Launcher, a tablet, or a foldable. Screen density, font scaling, and the launcher’s minimum-size rules can cause clipped text or unused space even when the widget technically supports resizing.

Why weather widgets stop updating

A widget is a small view hosted by the launcher, but the weather data often comes from a separate app process and network request. Android’s Doze mode, App Standby, Battery Saver, Data Saver, background restrictions, and manufacturer-specific power management can delay that work. Android’s documentation covers background work, Doze and App Standby, and widget update and battery guidance.

Try these steps in order:

  1. Open the weather app once and confirm that a location is selected.
  2. Check that the phone has working Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  3. Confirm the app has the location permission it needs, or select a location manually.
  4. Check the app’s refresh interval and make sure it is not set too long.
  5. Allow background data and check whether Data Saver is restricting the app.
  6. Remove the app from aggressive battery restrictions if freshness matters more than maximum battery savings.
  7. Remove the widget and add it again.
  8. Restart the phone.
  9. Check whether the selected weather provider is experiencing an outage.

On Samsung Galaxy devices, the relevant path may be Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps. Add the weather app if necessary. Samsung warns that apps in Never sleeping apps can use more battery, and Power saving mode can restrict background Wi-Fi, mobile data, and location services. See Samsung’s battery optimization guide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For Overdrop specifically, the developer recommends disabling battery optimization, allowing background data, checking the refresh interval, removing and re-adding the widget, and restarting the phone. Do not disable battery optimization for every widget automatically: unrestricted background activity, frequent refreshes, animated themes, live seconds, radar, notifications, and continuous location can increase battery use.

Common widget failures and recovery

The widget is missing from the widget picker

  1. Open the app once before trying again.
  2. Confirm it is installed from Google Play and updated.
  3. Restart the phone.
  4. Check that the launcher has enough open space for the widget’s minimum size.
  5. Update the launcher and the app.
  6. Check battery and device-care restrictions.

Samsung’s widget troubleshooting guide recommends checking device settings, app updates, restarting, and battery or Device Care settings when Galaxy widgets disappear or fail.

It says Problem loading widget

The app may not have completed its first setup, the launcher’s widget-host state may be stale, the location may be unset, or background activity may be restricted.

  1. Remove the widget.
  2. Open the app and confirm a location.
  3. Restart the device.
  4. Add the widget again.
  5. If necessary, clear only the app cache. Do not clear storage unless settings have been backed up.

Digital Clock & Weather Widget specifically tells users to restart the device if this message appears after an update.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The weather is stale

Check background data, battery optimization, Data Saver, location permission, roaming or Wi-Fi-only settings, the refresh interval, and the selected provider. Also confirm that the widget is not displaying a manually saved location while you are expecting current-location updates.

The location is wrong

A widget may be showing a valid forecast for the wrong nearby city or weather station. Apps can use GPS, network location, a saved city, a postal code, or a provider-specific station. Select the location manually when possible and check the station or city name shown in the app.

The widget changed after moving to another phone

Different launcher grids, screen densities, Android versions, font scaling, widget minimum-size rules, missing icon packs, and incomplete restoration of the app’s internal settings can all change the appearance. Re-add and resize the widget rather than assuming the app is broken.

Android 17 and lock-screen compatibility

Google says Android 17 began rolling out to Pixel devices on June 16, 2026, with other eligible devices following during 2026. Google’s Android 17 documentation identifies the platform’s behavior changes that developers should test against.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not assume that an app updated in June or July 2026 works perfectly on every Android 17 phone, launcher, or beta build. Compatibility statements here are based on current Play listings and developer documentation; recheck the live listing after a major Android or launcher update.

Lock-screen widget support is not uniform across Android. Pixel At a Glance may appear on some devices’ Lock screens, Samsung provides Lock-screen widget controls on supported Galaxy models, and Chronus says native Lock-screen widgets require Android 16 or later. On Android 5 through Android 15, Chronus says a third-party Lock-screen app is needed for that feature.

Which widget should you choose?

  • I want one compact clock-and-weather strip: Choose Weather & Clock Widget.
  • I want a free, ad-free, privacy-oriented weather widget: Start with Weawow, while remembering that its privacy statements are developer-declared Play disclosures.
  • I want a large, simple digital clock: Choose Digital Clock & Weather Widget.
  • I want official or national-source flexibility and alerts: Try Today Weather: Data by NOAA/NWS.
  • I want the cleanest modern weather presentation: Try Weather Today.
  • I want weather beside calendar, tasks, news, or stocks: Choose Chronus.
  • I want to design every pixel: Choose KWGT, and expect a learning curve and possible Pro or preset-pack costs.
  • I want animated, ready-made designs: Choose Overdrop, accepting ads, in-app purchases, and potentially more background activity.
  • I want a flip clock: Choose Sense Flip Clock & Weather.
  • I do not want another app: Use Pixel At a Glance or the stock widget supplied by your phone maker.
  • I only need a clock, alarm, timer, or world clock: Use Google Clock.

Widget appearance, forecast quality, privacy, and battery behavior are separate decisions. Pick the layout that fits your screen, then check the provider, permissions, refresh behavior, and current Play Store terms before committing. For warnings that matter, use the official local or national meteorological service as well as any widget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Android weather widgets need location permission?

Usually, an app needs location access to show local weather automatically, but many apps also support a manually selected city. If the location is wrong, check whether the widget is using GPS, a saved city, a postal code, or a nearby provider weather station.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why is my Android weather widget not updating?

Check network access, background data, Data Saver, the refresh interval, location permission, and battery restrictions. Remove and re-add the widget, open the app, and restart the phone. Samsung users can review Settings → Battery → Background usage limits; unrestricted background operation can improve freshness but use more battery.

Are 2×2 and 4×1 widget sizes the same on every Android phone?

No. Those numbers refer to launcher grid units, not fixed physical dimensions. Pixel Launcher, One UI Home, third-party launchers, tablets, foldables, screen density, and font scaling can all change the rendered size and minimum space.

What is the best Android clock and weather widget without installing another app?

Use Pixel At a Glance on supported Pixel devices or the stock weather and clock widget supplied by your phone manufacturer. Built-in widgets usually integrate best with the launcher, although they offer less provider choice and customization than third-party apps.

The Bottom Line

Choose Weather & Clock Widget for the best conventional combined panel, Weawow for weather depth and a developer-declared no-ads/no-tracking model, KWGT for total design control, and your phone’s built-in widget for the least maintenance. Forecast accuracy is location- and provider-dependent, so verify important alerts with an official weather service and recheck prices, permissions, privacy disclosures, and Android compatibility in Google Play before installing.
