The two dimension sets use different conventions or measuring orientations: Sunbeam gives 200 × 350 × 250 mm, while CHOICE gives 29 × 31 × 20 cm. Neither source explains the order of width, depth and height in the public information. Leave clearance around the appliance rather than assuming the smallest number is its front-to-back depth.
How do the controls and nine browning settings work?
Choose a shade from 1 through 9, lower the lever and allow the automatic cycle to finish. A lower number generally represents a lighter target and a higher number a darker target, but the correct setting depends on bread thickness, moisture, sugar content and whether the bread starts frozen.
Cancel

Reheat

Defrost

QuickCheck

High-lift lever
After the automatic pop-up, lift the lever farther to bring small bread, crumpets and muffins above the slot opening. This reduces the need to reach into a hot slot with fingers or utensils.
How do you use the TAP3504BL safely?
The 2024 Sunbeam guide describes a simple sequence. Keep the toaster on a stable, dry, heat-resistant surface and stay nearby during the first cycle with any new bread.
- Place the slices in the four slots, keeping them clear of the slot edges and ensuring no packaging, foil or spread is attached.
- Select a browning number from 1 to 9. Start in the middle of the range when you do not know how a particular bread will behave.
- For frozen bread, select Defrost as part of the cycle. For previously toasted bread that only needs warming, select Reheat instead.
- Press the lever down until it latches. The toaster heats, then stops and raises the bread automatically.
- Use QuickCheck if you need to inspect colour. Press Cancel when you want to end the cycle immediately.
- For small items, use the high-lift action after the cycle finishes. Do not use a knife, fork or other metal object to remove trapped bread.
Accessible surfaces remain hot during operation and for a period afterward. The guide specifically warns against toasting stale bread, rice crackers or similar foods on a high setting because they can catch fire. If an item smokes, press Cancel, unplug the toaster when safe and allow it to cool before investigating; never pour water into the slots.
Does it toast four slices evenly?

For the most repeatable result, load similar slices together, use the same shade number and avoid mixing fresh and frozen bread in one cycle.
If evenness is your deciding criterion, look for an independent test that publishes the actual scores for this exact model rather than relying on the presence of self-centering slots or marketing photographs. A retailer review that merely says “even” is not a substitute for a controlled comparison.
Can it toast frozen bread, crumpets and muffins?
Yes. Defrost is the dedicated frozen-bread mode, and the high-lift lever is specifically recommended for small bread, crumpets and muffins. The guide does not establish a separate bagel mode, nor does it describe one-sided bagel heating, so do not buy this model expecting a bagel-specific program.

Frozen bread should go directly into the slots without a wrapper or loose ice. The defrost cycle can take longer than normal toasting; check the result with QuickCheck rather than repeatedly restarting at a darker setting. Crumpets and muffins can be lifted higher after the cycle, but their shape and crumbs make the removable tray especially important.

How large is the toaster, and will it fit your kitchen?
Sunbeam lists the appliance at 200 × 350 × 250 mm and 2.2 kg. In practical terms, it is a substantial four-slot unit rather than a compact two-slot toaster, and the 800 mm cord limits how far it can sit from an outlet without an extension arrangement.
Measure the intended footprint with the controls facing the user, then add room above the slots for the lever and for removing tall items. Do not place it directly beneath a low cabinet if the cabinet could trap heat or obstruct the lever. The under-base cord compartment can reduce loose cable on the bench, but it does not reduce the toaster’s physical footprint.
CHOICE lists 29 × 31 × 20 cm, which differs from Sunbeam’s published dimensions. Because the public entries do not define measurement orientation, check the retailer’s current specification diagram if a tight bench fit is critical.
How do you clean and maintain the TAP3504BL?
Unplug the toaster and let it cool completely before cleaning. Pull out the removable crumb tray, empty it into a bin and replace it only when dry and correctly seated. Crumbs that remain in the base can char during later cycles, so clean the tray regularly when toasting crumbly bread or muffins.

- Shake or move the appliance only when unplugged and cool.
- Use the under-base cord storage for excess cable rather than wrapping a hot cord tightly around the body.
The public CHOICE page includes cleaning as a test category, but it does not reveal the model’s score. The removable tray is therefore a documented maintenance feature, not evidence of a particular cleaning rating.
What does the warranty cover?
Sunbeam states a 12-month replacement warranty, and CHOICE lists a one-year warranty. “Replacement” describes the remedy type published for this product; it is not a promise of a lifetime repair service. Warranty duration does not change with the shade setting, capacity or retailer. If the toaster arrives damaged, record the condition before use and contact the seller promptly rather than continuing to operate it.
Is the blue TAP3504BL worth about A$89?

Burning or smoke
Press Cancel, unplug after the cycle is safely stopped and let the toaster cool. Empty the crumb tray and avoid stale bread, rice crackers or similar dry foods on high settings, as the guide warns they may catch fire.
Small items are hard to remove
Use the high-lift lever after the cycle. Never probe the slot with cutlery, especially while connected to power.
