How many friends can join an online party?
The current online party limit is six players. The October 22, 2026 Quality-of-Life Update increased the party size from the launch-era limit of three. In its notes, the developer states: “The Party size in online multiplayer has been increased from 3 players to 6 players in this quality-of-life update.”

“Party size” means the number of players who can be grouped together as friends before entering online multiplayer. It does not mean that every place in the race must be occupied by one of those invited friends. A six-person party can therefore enter an event whose total field is larger than six, with the remaining places handled by the mode’s matchmaking or AI rules.

What changed from the launch version?
At launch, published multiplayer information described a three-player online party. That number remains useful only as historical context. If an older guide, video or store discussion says that Galactic Racer supports three online players, it is describing the pre-update state and is out of date for the October 2026 version.
The practical rule is simple: use six when planning a current friend group, and check the publication date of any page that still lists three. The change is a party-cap increase; it does not automatically change the game’s local multiplayer behavior or turn the party cap into a race-field cap.

Think of two separate numbers:
- Party capacity: the maximum number of friends grouped together online, currently six.
- Event capacity: the maximum number of vehicles that can appear in the race, up to 12 speeders or eight podracers according to the FAQ.
For example, six friends could form one party for a speeder event. The event may still show more than six vehicles because open positions can be filled by matchmaking participants or AI, depending on the mode. Conversely, a race with eight podracers does not imply that eight invited friends can join one party; the party limit remains six.
Why the vehicle type changes the number
The FAQ gives different field ceilings for speeders and podracers. Use the vehicle or event type shown in the game when estimating how crowded a race can be. Do not transfer the 12-speeder figure to podracer events, and do not treat the eight-podracer figure as a universal multiplayer number.

Does Star Wars: Galactic Racer have split-screen?
No. Galactic Racer does not support local split-screen multiplayer. There is no supported simultaneous couch mode in which two or more people share one console or PC screen. As a result, there is no local player count such as two-player, four-player or “up to four” split-screen to report.
What that means for a couch group
A physical copy, a second controller or a larger television does not add local multiplayer.
